Flies (black, stable, deer, horse) are no joke in the UP. It is a wet country. Brenton is in the higher elevations of the UP and without out much of any snow this past winter, those bastards still hit hard. Don't get me wrong. Any beach on the Great Lakes has flies but the UP takes it up a few notches. If a viewer is planning on a vacation to the UP, plan on late July and hope you get onshore breeze to truly experience either lake Michigan or Superior. When you get a friendly turn of cards, magical place.

Beach glass is a natural phenomenon.
Its from lightning strikes on driftwood.
The electrons heat up the wood to 27 million degrees and it breaks apart taking up the color of the water molecules. Thats why ocean glass is blue, lake and river glass is green, and on the rare occasions it hits a septic system with a wooden lid you can find brown.
