@@Lordmaniax357 ooo let me know how that goes. I haven’t looked into those very much but that seems like a good diabetes friendly option. I’d be curious to try it for sure. I have a good amount of chickpea flour at the moment actually 🤔
@@TastyThriftyTimely yeah. From what I've found out there are actually various ways to use them. Soaked or cooked as well as ground to flours. sweets and savories. Just need time and energy to play. (and the proper cookware. LOL!)
Thanks for taking the time to talk about what you need to watch out for as it cooks. Just been getting into bread making and this is on my list for sure.
Absolutely love it! Simple but totally essential for Indian Cuisine. Great camera angles, editing and presentation too. Your videos are totally improving. Keep up the great work, it’s great to have you back. James
@@kennedybosire2179 yes! Do you form the dough into a spiral then flatten it to create a flakier bread? I have seen versions of that chapati on other RUclips channels.
Here is an experiment for you... A play on a Jamaican Patty (pasty?) but use Jamaican spiced lentils and mushrooms. I'd do it but I'm not going to have time right now.. Good luck.
@@TastyThriftyTimely Thanks.. I want to see how it turns out... I'm not going to be able to experiment much because I'm heading out of town to work so no place to cook my own stuff. LOL!
OOH!!! You might try some Teff flour so you can make Ethiopian Injara.. I do love the technique of using a wet towel to encourage puffing!! Your videos are really helpful and fun to watch!! You really have some good info!
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you like them! I’ve only had injara once years ago and I loved it so I know I would love it even more now. I should definitely look into how to make it!
Ah yes. Roti being made with whole wheat flour is at least a whole grain with high fibre so I hope you’re able to include little bits of it back into your diet depending on how it’s best managed for you 🤞
that is so cool !!!! i love that kind of bread i never thought it was that "easy" to do ! :D yum !! Can't wait for the volcano!! and on top of that, your kitchen is very cute !! we need a full tour !! :D
Haha maybe we’ll have to add a pantry tour video to the list 😜 and yes! I find that even if they don’t fully puff up they always puff a little and are still really nice and soft. It seems like a recipe that lots of people have different tips and tricks to so it’s a fun one to experiment with!
Watching this recipe video even though my mom cooks this daily. Learning to cook is so important! Recently I've been eating 3 rotis with ~40g soya nuggets to get da protein
That’s great! Let me know if you help your mom and learn her tricks next. I’m sure hers are delicious! And that’s a great idea to have them with soya nuggets. We’ve been using some as a sandwich wrap for lunch with a chickpea smash, lettuce, and sprouts lately 😂
This is similar to how we make arepas in Puerto Rico, but simpler. We can buy the arepas frozen as dough disks in our grocery stores. I think I’m going to try this and then freeze the dough in large batches if my family likes them.
That’s a great idea! I haven’t tried freezing the dough yet but you shouldn’t have any problem with that. Let me know how it works out when you try it!
I haven’t tried it with plain all purpose flour but I’m sure it would work. Plain flour is lighter than whole wheat so you may even get a softer roti that puffs up better. Atta flour is much softer than whole wheat flour so it’s generally recommended as the best to use (I could only find it in 10kg bags though so I just used whole wheat since that’s what I had on hand). Let me know if you try it with white flour and how it works out 👍🏼
Hmm I’ve never tried that and I have seen gluten free roti where rice flour is used instead of wheat flour. On a quick google it seems like some people are making them with oat flour. It looks like the roti might not puff up and might not be quite as soft but you should still get a tasty flatbread out of it! Let me know if you try it.
What other easy bread recipes should I know about?
When I have the time I'm going to start experimenting with the lentil, chickpea type breads.
