My uncle started the disc golf league for St. Louis areas over 20 years ago and it's really cool to see it blowing up and all the different types of people that have started doing it!
I played BALL golf for 40+ years at least 2-3x a week. About 7 years ago I was introduced to DISC golf. My golf clubs are now covered in dust as I am now completely, 100% obsessed with EVERYTHING disc golf…
So glad to get the exposure. You’re are 100% correct that it’s very fun and addictive. As a husky guy, it helps me stay in shape. Keep throwing and growing the sport!
Literally my buddy took me out once to play during the pandemic, I've played just about everyday since. it's very addicting especially if you have some nice courses around and it's usually free!
I would love to see more stuff like this. Every person I’ve ever brought out with me for the first time had virtually the same reaction joe did until they played. I have gotten over a dozen people massively into disc golf just from taking them with me once. Welcome to the group Bert!
Been playing for 10+ years and I'm still getting better every time I go. I became obsessed last year went from small bag to grip bag. 15 discs to 60+. I just can't get enough of it. Excited to bring the kids when they are older.

I’ve been playing disc golf for 15 years and I’m 63 years old. My son got me started on it and I’m an addict. I live in the DFW area we have lot of courses. Since most disc golf courses are natural terrain it makes every single disc golf course unique.
If only I'd known about this sport as a kid! Been playing 10 years now but I'm 41 and to be able to throw it like the pros do you need serious "major league pitcher" type of arm talent .
Love disc golf because it is chill and totally open to anyone who can walk a course and throw a disc. The community is super nice and it is affordable.
I think disc golf got a lot more popular during COVID. My friends and I got into it at the beginning of 2020 because it was one of the few things we could get out and do during the lockdowns.
paul is so funny him and bert would make people laugh so hard they cry ... well the whole Jomez team.. I cant watch anything else ... the rest of the coverage is boring!!!
Oh man this takes me back to the mid 90s. I used to work the graveyard shift at Sams Club in Austin and my coworker John and I would get off at 5 AM and play. First we would go to his place and his girlfriend would make us like homamade biscuits and gravy with all the fixins. Then we would decide which course to go play at, pack the beer, and roll a couple of joints. At that time in the morning, no one would be on the course. There used to be great courses too.....Barthalamew, Southpark Meadows before it was stripmallsized, and even Zilker. Any sport one can get a good buzz at while playing is awesome.
Zilker park is awesome! Only place I've ever hit someone with a disc, but the older gentleman was super cool about it. Then asked if I wanted in on this joint he was about to light up. We became fast friends haha.
Disc golf is a great thing to do on long road trips too. Easy to throw a bag full of discs in the car and research places to play along the way. Breaks up the drive, you get a good walk and some fresh air.
@@ClayParrot42265 LOL me too. Love that more people like it as it means more courses, but I hate that they're starting to get crowded. In the good old days you'd have the whole thing to yourself!
Disc golf is amazing, supports nature with little impact, and the DG community is probably the most wholesome of any sport or ideology. If you enjoy sports, DG is for you. If you enjoy nature, DG is for you. If you enjoy hiking, DG is for you. If you enjoy math and carving insane lines through trees, finding that perfect angle of passage, DG is for you. If you are looking for a low stress workout in a casual or competitive setting, DG is for you. I throw LH and RH (learned LH after a pitching injury I never got fixed) and to step up to a tee box with 20+ different shot types I can take is exciting!
Disc golf is the answer to all life's problems. This sport has the ability to bring world peace. Glad it found its way into a conversation on Joe's podcast, thanks Bert.
Love Disc Golf! Love Bert & Joe! The sport was going through a good growth spurt after 2010. Then the Pandemic hit. Most indoor sports, gyms, weight rooms, bowling allies, etc. and even golf ball courses (clubhouses) were closed. So people looked for an alternative activity/sport to do outside. Most disc golf courses are set in public parks and are FREE. Discs Golf has no dress code. No greens fees unless it is a "pay" course. No tee times. Cheap to get into the sport... most discs are under $20. Three disc starter packs can be found for $40 and under. Due to the Pandemic and these low barriers to entry the sport has absolutely exploded. Joe... this sport is VERY addictive. Just look into Bert's eyes when he starts to talk about it. That's how addictive it is. Lots of Fun with Lots of good people and professionals who are very willing to share their time and knowledge with you. Brody Smith is based in Dallas. He was an Ultimate Disc player who now plays Disc Golf and has his own RUclips channel. You should invite him for an interview some time, he is very outgoing. Also try and book Simon Lizotte. This man can absolutely crush a disc (he can throw over 700 feet) and also has his own RUclips channel. Simon can teach you quite a few things about DG. Finally Bert's idea of hosting a MILLION DOLLAR EVENT in Hawaii would instantly become the "SuperBowl" of Disc Golf. It would easily be the top showcase of the sport. One of the best ideas I have heard to grow the sport of disc golf. Bert... whatever you do... take Joe out and get him hooked. There is the FLYING ARMADILLO course near San Marcos (close to Austin) that you can easily take Joe out to and "pop his cherry". HAVE FUN and reach out if you are ever in Albuquerque and we can play some DG. And feel free to contact me if you have any questions... been playing DG since '92.
The Disc Golf scene is like Happy Gilmore bringing the hockey scene to golf. The random Eric Oakley standing in the middle of a lake looking for discs during tourneys. Random dudes in mullets with US flag shorts walking around. But everyone respects the sport. Which is pretty awesome.
Yep, disc golf has been my passion since the pandemic hit in 2020. I played a little as a youngsta int he late 90's but it never struck me the way it did when I picked it back up. Truly a game of skill and technique over raw power. So much fun, and the disc golf community is often the coolest bunch of assholes you'll ever meet.
Disc Golf players are some of the best people you will ever meet. Let's goo Joe I wanna see him go thru the learning process it would be a cool journey
True story, Ben Askren began training mma at my first mma school then went on to fight at Bellator working out of Roufus’ camp. Over a decade later, the UFC-One gets signed and they release a promo for Ben playing disc golf right in front of the restaurant I work at… with me bussing in the background and no idea Ben is 20 feet away from me😂
Love how excited Bert is about it! I don't know wtf the sport is but watching videos now espeically given I live in rural WI and land/woods is abundant
One of the best parts about disc golf is how wholesome and unpretentious it is. Unlike normal golf where seasoned players are dicks to those of us who suck, disc golfers are super chill. Might give you some pointers or offer you a beer or smoke. Awesome community.
The "good" players wouldn't let me play with them unless I bet money like they were doing. I coughed up 3 dollars a round for a while, but it was like getting free lessons. Best money I ever spent. I hope you enjoyed it, Jim Oates. And YES, they can still beat me.
I wonder if they realize how insane a million dollar purse is. I think the largest total purse ever was a quarter mil at the DDGPT last year and the winners got I think 30k. Unless there was some privately funded event that I don’t know about. A tournament where the winners took home six figures would be so cool though. Even the guys battling for 9th and 10th place would have so much on the line.
I think the sport started to blow up during the pandemic when people needed something to do outdoors! Played my first round in the summer of 2020 and have been obsessed ever since😅

This reminds me of the time Bert went all in on learning about spearfishing
or jetskiing or ziplining or eating lollies.... i think there's a pattern
My uncle started the disc golf league for St. Louis areas over 20 years ago and it's really cool to see it blowing up and all the different types of people that have started doing it!

Shout out to Dunegant!
I played BALL golf for 40+ years at least 2-3x a week. About 7 years ago I was introduced to DISC golf. My golf clubs are now covered in dust as I am now completely, 100% obsessed with EVERYTHING disc golf…
Yea man! 👍🏻
So glad to get the exposure. You’re are 100% correct that it’s very fun and addictive. As a husky guy, it helps me stay in shape. Keep throwing and growing the sport!
Welcome to the disc golf community! I can't wait to see you not only grow as a player, but grow the sport along the way.
We ALL need to be that passionate about something. He's so fucking happy about disc golf. Thanks for the smile Bert
Literally my buddy took me out once to play during the pandemic, I've played just about everyday since. it's very addicting especially if you have some nice courses around and it's usually free!
Disc Golf is the most fun recreational game to play with your friends. Just rip it as far as you can.
I would love to see more stuff like this. Every person I’ve ever brought out with me for the first time had virtually the same reaction joe did until they played. I have gotten over a dozen people massively into disc golf just from taking them with me once. Welcome to the group Bert!
Same here 👊😎
Been playing for 13 years. Most relaxing and fun sport you can play s/o to Bert for letting everyone know about it
When Joe tells Bert to ‘just don’t say numbers’ 😂😂😂
And Bert’s reaction to it :D
Been playing for 10+ years and I'm still getting better every time I go. I became obsessed last year went from small bag to grip bag. 15 discs to 60+. I just can't get enough of it. Excited to bring the kids when they are older.
Dont act like it hasnt always been called frisbee golf. 🤣🤣🤣 youre adults playing with a frisbee 🤣🤣🤣
@@BeginHealingWithin And you're a douchbag starting internet fights. You cannot stand that someone is so passionate about something. So you must find a reason to drag them down to your pathetic level. I think I'd rather be an adult frisbee hucker lol
I love seeing Disc golf finally getting some props .. People have no idea that the money is real now , Top players making millions and its just getting started

@@omogenews get that scam shit out of here
Hell yeah. RUclips bots are the worst, especially the ones that have fake convos about Bitcoin. But yeah, crazy that disc golf is just finally blowing up now
So happy to see Bert spreading the word on disc golf! Would love to see more people get into it. Joe, give it a shot!
This conversation dynamic is how I feel talking to my family and friends who don’t play lol
I’ve been playing disc golf for 15 years and I’m 63 years old. My son got me started on it and I’m an addict. I live in the DFW area we have lot of courses. Since most disc golf courses are natural terrain it makes every single disc golf course unique.
Hey neighbor! I live near fort worth, where do you go to play?
@@Waka817 all over, I play Gateway the most often. 👍
You can tell Bert loves it. It really is pretty addicting. Shockingly fun. Need some self control not to but a ton of discs.
No kidding! I'm bad about buying a new disc before I can finish breaking in my current ones 🤣
If only I'd known about this sport as a kid! Been playing 10 years now but I'm 41 and to be able to throw it like the pros do you need serious "major league pitcher" type of arm talent .
Used to play in Austin back in the 90's with my bros. It was a good excuse to go for a walk and get stoned AF while chucking discs. Good times!
Haha, right on there brother
Bert Always Spreadin love for our Game! Respect!!
Im so stoked they're bringing so many eyes and ears to the amazing sport of disc golf!!! Can't wait to see what disc Bert will come out with lol
Love disc golf because it is chill and totally open to anyone who can walk a course and throw a disc. The community is super nice and it is affordable.
Love hearing about all the Disc Golf happening here in Texas!
Super happy to get another one hooked on the sport!
DISC GOLF IS THE SPORT OF LEGENDS
No it’s for loosers 😜🥱😴
Meh 🫤

I think disc golf got a lot more popular during COVID. My friends and I got into it at the beginning of 2020 because it was one of the few things we could get out and do during the lockdowns.
2.6k comments of “I love Disc Golf” in one day should tell you how popular it really is! Thank you for growing the sport Bert! Love your show Joe!
Everyone support Jomez Pro! Excellent coverage and production. plus Big Jerm, Nate Sexton, and Paul Ulibarri on commentary is incredible.
paul is so funny him and bert would make people laugh so hard they cry ... well the whole Jomez team..
😂 your last sentence is exactly why Bart Kryschler is a perfect spokesman for the beautiful sport
As a pro discgolfer, it makes me so happy to hear about our sport on JRE 😁
First time I heard of it. Sounds fun.
Great seeing Bert on here talking some disc golf! I've been throwing for over 10 years now and absolutely love the sport, and watching the pro tour.
It’s so satisfying hitting the chain nets in disc golf. Just like a swish with a chain net.
Disc golf is a great thing to do on long road trips too. Easy to throw a bag full of discs in the car and research places to play along the way. Breaks up the drive, you get a good walk and some fresh air.
@@luxuryxcoffin And last but not least, you often meet cool people. ;-)
Hell yea i love the sport getting some more recognition. I found disc golf in 2018 and my only regret is not finding it sooner.
Been disc golfing my whole life, and finally it’s not just considered a weird hippy hobby
Yep, first played in 1980. It has really only been the last 10 years where it has begun to lose the hippie loser tag.
The trees near the tees at OV would disagree with you. I've been abusing them for 39 years now.
Disc golf is the answer to all life's problems. This sport has the ability to bring world peace. Glad it found its way into a conversation on Joe's podcast, thanks Bert.
Been playing disc golf since I was 4. Such an awesome way to get outside and more than half the time it’s free to play.
True ambassador for Disc Golf....
Disc golf : " the Greatest sport you Never heard of".
I was hooked first time.
Very well said brother 👊
The Disc Golf scene is like Happy Gilmore bringing the hockey scene to golf. The random Eric Oakley standing in the middle of a lake looking for discs during tourneys. Random dudes in mullets with US flag shorts walking around. But everyone respects the sport. Which is pretty awesome.
Awesome to see the excitement you have for disc golf
it's my newest obsession 🤣🤣 definitely a humbling sport when you first throw
No kidding I thought it was a stoner game, got lucky living in emporia with all the courses

Haha coolest bunch of assholes is the perfect description
Disc Golf players are some of the best people you will ever meet. Let's goo Joe I wanna see him go thru the learning process it would be a cool journey
Haven't even gotten through the ad, and I'm liking this video. DISC GOLF ⛳️ for life!
True story, Ben Askren began training mma at my first mma school then went on to fight at Bellator working out of Roufus’ camp. Over a decade later, the UFC-One gets signed and they release a promo for Ben playing disc golf right in front of the restaurant I work at… with me bussing in the background and no idea Ben is 20 feet away from me😂
This made my day. Love you Bert!
I have lost close to 50 pounds by playing disc golf. It has changed my life. I’m absolutely obsessed
That’s awesome congrats 💪
Love Bert's joy about his new hobby
He was such a dork over this!! Love it, I will have to take my kids and try this disc golf out.
Best of luck to y’all when you do!
Definitely do that!! Have fun out there 😎👊
I wonder if they realize how insane a million dollar purse is. I think the largest total purse ever was a quarter mil at the DDGPT last year and the winners got I think 30k. Unless there was some privately funded event that I don’t know about. A tournament where the winners took home six figures would be so cool though. Even the guys battling for 9th and 10th place would have so much on the line.
so happy one of yall are into disc golf this sport is amazing and youll get hooked just like bert.
I think the sport started to blow up during the pandemic when people needed something to do outdoors! Played my first round in the summer of 2020 and have been obsessed ever since😅
173 ounces = 11 pounds. That some badass forearm throwing.
ruclips.net/video/vRytJKHjutY/видео.html is finally here
Right?! Youd Get an Eagle McMahon injury in one forearm release 😆
I love his energy about a sport I have loved for over 25 years. We just have to teach him up a bit on the lingo. 🤘🏻
Hey man, at least he takes his "goal" with him everywhere he goes 😁 that was great 😎👊
“173 ounces”
Berts out here throwing 10 pound discs in disc golf
Edit: Joe telling Bert “just dont say numbers”
4:18 I'm fuckin dead 🤣💀 Bert's out here whipping 10lbs disk 🤣
This is pretty great. I just started disc golfing 2 weeks ago, been trying to get into it for a couple years now and finally did it.
Welcome to your newest addiction 😎 glad to have ya 👊
@@tmartin555 yup I've gone down the rabbit hole. Buying so many discs in so many plastics.
Now I love Bert even more! I would love to play a round with Bert and ben
