Yea its hard. But its 1 repititive lazy motion with small tweaks

Yeah that's why the video game used to be called Lee Trevino's fighting golf. It seems like it would be easy to hit a ball that's just sitting there, but no. And then the worst part is how it comes and goes. Can be very frustrating.
I did martial arts for three years and played golf quite a bit. I can confirm that hitting a golf ball effectively and accurately is way harder than kicking.
like hey a dude is standing in front of you, you walk up and swing your leg at him. BAM. easy. Humans have been doing it for many millennium. But hey this is from a guys whose fighting experience is in the bathrooms at school and golf games consists of beer nights with the boys at Top Golf

Which is fine but it would make sense that you think it’s boring. Anyone would be bored being dragged to do something they don’t like
As a Martial artist I disagree with Joe. Kicking someone without technique is easier and more effective then hitting a golf ball with a club without technique . Also learning and performing the proper technique of a kick is easier then learning and performing a proper golf swing
A total moron can kick somebody first time every time. It in our genetics. To strike a golf ball? For starters it's a completely unnatural move. No comparison the golf ball is in a league of its own.

@@ayaazucena2066 Exactly, that’s the difference.. They’re both incredibly difficult, but golfing doesn’t come with the consequences sparring does, let alone fighting someone in a cage.
I’ve got to be honest, joe sounds pretty ignorant. “I don’t even play golf” then “hitting a golf ball is easy”. Well joe I don’t do MMA but kicking someone is easy. My daughter in my wife’s belly even knows how to kick.
I can do both, played ball all my life and randomly play golf in the summers. No way in hell are any of those 2 harder than fighting top level mma fighters
Even harder than hitting a fastball, is hitting an elite changeup or slider after a pitcher has been running up 98 mph fastballs for the past five pitches. I could literally go up and kick the shit out of some girl right now, easy peasy lol.
@@Hyto1892 hmmm golfer maybe not, but I wouldnt do terrible. Baseball I'd do pretty decent in as well since I played throughout College. My point was I could do both of those easier than it would to go fight a professional fighter
As someone who currently does Kickboxing and golf, hitting a golf ball came to me 2000% easier than headkicks and body kicks. And thats not even going to far into the type of kicks that are thrown. Successfully landing aCrane or question mark kicks is way harder than hitting a nice drive or making a long put.
I never liked Tony much, but I think he finally won me over. He's one of the few people left on Earth to stand up to Joe and look tactful and nuanced while doing it.

I can tell you unequivocally Joe has never hit a golf ball in his life unless it was mini golf. It's EXTREMELY fuckin hard to even be okay at hitting a golf ball. Not necessarily saying it's harder than kicking someone effectively in competitive combat sports, but Joe has a tendency to downplay the difficulty of things he's never done before or been interested in. I guarantee you he thinks it's easy to hit a baseball coming at you 90+ MPH for 400+ feet.
Hes pretty good about it most of the time. But when it comes to certain topics, he falls and becomes an asshole. To be fair though, he puts out 2 hour plus long podcasts multiple times a week and he cant be perfect for all of them. I hope he analyzes this situation though.

Joe is talking crazy here…..as everyone who’s never played golf does. As someone who’s done both, golf is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay harder to even begin to play. If you don’t believe that, try it.
Go ahead with that nonsense. Golf is difficult in terms of being accurate. Please tell me you’d rather fight someone who’s trained to kill you rather than 18 holes of golf

Super easy to hit a golf ball???? What the hell are you 🚬 Joe?? IDK but it's gotta be some REALLY GOOD SHIT. Personally... I don't think you can compare hitting a golf ball to MMA in the first place. Both are EXTREMELY difficult but for totally different reasons. The discipline needed to strike a golf ball true, far, and straight every time, is unreal!! I'm 47 yrs old and have golfed since I was 8yrs old. I golf every spring, summer, and fall(from MI) and I haven't yet mastered a consistent game. One round I'm -2, the next I'm +8. My money is on Rogan getting frustrated enough that he'd break his clubs or toss em in the water hazard.... LMAO
I know most people are gonna hit a golf ball straight 1x out 10 but kicking someone perfectly would take most people 1x out of 100 probably way more tbh
Also hitting a golf ball is not difficult. And if you are talking about hitting it straight. Anybody can get lucky. But to kick some hard accurately you really need practice and learning.
@@___Truth___ No it’s not you couldn’t touch someone like Izzy with a kick before you were asleep lol we are not talking about kicking trees lol we are talking about people that have trained there whole life in self defense
Well connecting a hit on golf ball is easier than kicking someone. But hitting the golf ball with the goal to land it in a tiny hole hundreds of yards away is madness.
"1:20 Whether you hit a golf ball perfectly... that's a different story." By that same logic Joe, not every kick that connects in an MMA fight will knock someone out either - in fact most kicks that make some sort of contact will be somewhat ineffective unless they are right on the button, or you connect multiple times with leg kicks to wear osmeone down. You will more commonly see someone get knocked out by a kick than you will see someone hit a hole in 1 - so i have to side with Tony here - hitting the perfect golf swing is way more difficult than hitting a perfect kick that would knock someone out.

Golf is way harder. The mental and weather conditions in golf means you have to be amazing, and amazing at reading the conditions, spin, angles, putting, etc. MMA fighters can be in the top of their division being one dimensional.
@@tistakere5055 physically, yes, but mentally I have to disagree. If you’re a fighter, you’re out to kill in a controlled environment. In golf, you have multiple majors championships and every hole is different. And I know he says this because he tried it once and couldn’t do it plain n simple. It is one thousand times harder to be a professional golfer than a professional fighter lmao!! Gtfo
How do you define this hardness? Is it getting a win every time you compete or some other metric? Because golf is pretty simple than fighting and I am not talking about just kicking. Fighting!
@@ultimateultimate-xm2lp same as golf, fighting against elements and yourself. To be honest they're very similar as you have to be both adapted in self discipline.
Makes sense what you saying. I think Joe is saying that Hitting a golf ball is easy from what I understand. But not where you want the ball to go. Basically, hitting a ball is easy(vs. kicking someone perfectly) but it is extremally difficult where you want to hit the ball.
It is harder to kick somebody who's expecting it and will move is what Joe is saying, which is true. It is easier to slowly tap a golfball a few times and learn to strike it true within 30 mins. I know I did that and I didn't like golf, still don't really but I can hit a drive. I can also kick a guy who's expecting it, and let me tell you. I find it easier to kick a guy than I do to hit a golfball true. You can prepare with all the time you need for the golfball, and when you swing it just does not move. The kick however, you don't have prep time you're guarding yourself so it is instinctual; and instinct wise you DO HAVE a kick instinct in your DNA whereas you DO NOT have a golf driving instinct. So is it easier to kick somebody than hit a golfball? Debatable, but I personally would favour saying it's much much tougher.
In terms of difficulty, lowest to highest, it ranks like this: 1. Hitting a golf ball. 2. Kicking a bag. 3. Hitting a golf ball accurately. 4. Kicking a trained opponent. 5. Listening to this stupid fucking conversation.
As someone who does both golf and train. Joe is right it’s easier to hit a golf ball that’s not moving then to kick a moving target. However it’s muchhh harder to hit a golf ball straight and a certain distance is much harder than to kick someone
I’m with Tony. I have been playing golf for 2 years and can hit similar distance to tour average. Keeping it on the short grass is a slow process. If give up 20-30 yards to be able to hit more fairways and GIR
People in the comment saying they've learned how to kick when they were 13 - when was the last time you KOed a man by a headkick? When was the last time you've made a man quit the fight because of perfectly delivered lowkicks? When was the last time you controlled the distance and the pace of the fight with your frontkick? When was the last time you delivered a flying knee to a man's head? Just because your coach told you "good job" it doesn't mean you know anything about kicking.
The skill floor for golf is ridiculously low. That's why old men with back problems can competently play golf. Of course the skill ceiling is high, but that's a different matter. The skill floor for fighting is very high.
@ToraxReborn All I mean is that it's much harder for an old man to perform the bodily movements necessary to fight, compared to the bodily movements required for golfing. I'm not denying that there is a lot of technique to golfing, but it's much less physically tasking.
I think Joe thinks the sport of golfing is a fight with the golf ball, where the golf club is a weapon, and hitting it reasonably far is equivalent to a knockout, in which case it easier to be victorious over your opponent (the ball) than an opponent in MMA.

Probably because everyone knows a dozen people who play golf and they're all "good" at it. Not pro, but good. It definitely SOUNDS crazy difficult. But it seems in practice that it is actually not hard to be "good" at it.
Joe doesn’t know enough about how technical and mental golf is to have this argument. He thinks it’s just hitting a ball hard and far. Also, John Daly is a freak of nature, a prodigy, a once in a lifetime player. He is like Iverson, he just gets it and it comes naturally. There will never be someone like him again.
Is it easier/more likely to knock someone out in a single kick in MMA or hit a hole in one in pro golf? Both are amazing feats, but the comparison is apples and oranges.
Joe's comparing kicking another person in combat to hitting a golf ball at a driving range. The real comparison is kicking another fighter to hitting a golf ball better than another golfer.
I didn’t start playing golf til the past month, mind you I’ve been training for a month with my dad who played pro, and I still struggle hitting certain clubs. I can perform in almost any other sport I’ve tried but golf is really different

Nah, golf is harder. For sure. Not that MMA is easy, as it is not, but golf is very hard at the top level. And, golfers are almost certainly smarter as well. Lol.
It's harder to hit a gold ball than it is to fight another professional trained killer for 15 to 25 min in a cage? Really? I could play golf with the best golfer in the world, I would lose but I wouldn't get the absolute shit kicked out of me like I would if I stepped in there with a top pro mma fighter, so which one do you think is harder? @@ScienceSleuths89 just because they wear fancy clothing and talk smart doesn't meant they are smarter, there is such a thing as fight IQ if you didn't know, casuals of the sport only know of the UFC which is the biggest mma organization in the world but there are hundreds of other mma organizations out there, a few bigger ones like ONE FC, Belator, KSW, PFL... and the difference in talent level between these organizations is stark, Ben Askren was undefeated in ONE FC but got absolutely demolished in his UFC run, even in the ufc itself there is a stark difference between a guy in the top 20 and a guy in the top 5, the guys in the top 5 are in their own class when it comes to fighting ability. And then there's gameplaning for a specific opponent that brings a different skillset or a different mentality to the table and what the fans don't see or don't pick up on like making reads while you're fighting, how wide is my opponents stance, is he susceptible to leg kicks, what does he do when i faint low or high, where does he keep his hands when coming in and out of range, does he leave his chin out there while throwing a hook... etc. there's much more to fighting at a top level than just throwing punches and kicks and hoping something will stick. oh and obviously the brutal nature of the training itself, constant injuries and aches and trying to be in the best shape possible while not getting injured in camp. And the simple brutality of the business of the sport, imagine if tiger woods lost a few games in a row and then his golf organization threw him out... yeah, sounds silly right? Well not in mma, if you lose 3 fights in a row, you're gonna get thrown out of the UFC and lose your ability to make a living. And now lets go to the skillsets that you have to acquire to be at the top level, mma stands for mixed martial arts, as in, all of the martial arts combined, you need to know how to kick and defend kicks, low, body, high, side kick, oblique kick, spinning kicks... you need to know the basics of boxing, and then the most important part of mma, grappling which encompasses wrestling, judo, BJJ and ground and pound which is an art form in itself, take bjj for example, did you know that the average time for a bjj athelete to get his black belt is about 10 years? and thats just one part of grappling, lack in any of these skillsets and its gonna get exploited by your opponent, the days of a guy just knowing one way of fighting are long gone, every single striker you see in the ufc has at least a basic understanding of grappling, usually a very good one, even conor mcgregor is a brown belt in BJJ, which is one below black belt but he's still not a grappler because there's levels to grappling, just like there are levels to striking.

Joe has no idea what he’s talking about. Everybody has a “punchers chance”. There is No way someone off the street is beating a pro golfer in a game of golf. That’s why a guy like Jake Paul can knock out a guy like Tyrone Woodley with only a few years training.
Your comparison is totally stupid. Jake Paul beat Woodley in BOXING, not MMA in which Woodley was trained. That goes _against_ your point because Woodley was the newcomer to the sport, not the other way around. The fact that old men with severe back problems can play golf competently shows how low the skill floor is. It's like Billiards. It has a stupid low skill floor, but a high skill ceiling. The skill floor of any fighting sport is insanely high (except Aikido).
@@drystkrab269 Martial arts incorporates athleticism, technique, and split-second decision-making to boot If I gave you the choice to prepare for a golf game or a full-contact MMA fight, the overwhelming majority of people would choose golf.
A club is effectively and extension of your body. A leg is part of your body so it’s more natural. But the ball doesn’t move. So they are hard to compare maybe
The relationship between the swing path, club face, and timing of your body movement is soooooo much harder than kicking someone. You have you legs, waist, shoulder, elbow , and wrist that all need to be timed perfectly with a correct swing path and correct club face all while hitting the center of the club. Hitting a nice draw when you need it can take years and years of practice.
Lmao ya Joe says” you don’t even need to be in control of your body”. Is the exact opposite of golf. Technically anyone can swing a club and hit the ball. The gap between average golfers to professional golfers is the biggest gap in any sport in the world no doubt about it. That’s how amazing these pro golfers are.

I’ve done both sports, golf is actually way fucking harder from a technical standpoint. You don’t see fighters just not able to strike for a year straight but you’ll see pro golfers just fade out of no where for a year or two because some minuscule detail is off. Golfing always seems easy until you try it. Tbh from a technical standpoint Muay Thai is one of the easier things I’ve done minus the flexibility demands.
I’ve been in junior Olympics tkd when I was younger and trust me I know it’s hard af to kick someone in the head. been fighting and golfing for 15 years and i gotta say, Golf is more random. You can kick the same anywhere you are unless you are on ice or in sand. Hitting a golf ball is a little trickier. However, the risk involved in kicking someone (getting taken down or counter punched) make it a lot more rewarding and dangerous. Hitting a perfect ball is way less likely than hitting the perfect kick in terms of muscle memory
Here is what Joe doesn’t understand Jamie smashing the ball on a driving range is the equivalent of kicking a punching bag Playing on a course is the equivalent of kicking a person
I think everybody needs to relax and understand that Joe was misunderstood and not being clear. He's talking about the ACT of actually hitting another human being vs hitting a little ball. Not the 2 sports.
I mean I guess I understand the point Joe is trying to make, but it's just not true. If you are talking bare bones just hitting a golf ball (like just making contact with it) then that has to be relative to kicking like the air or kicking a bag. Now if you're talking about kicking a person... I still think I could kick most people without any issue lol, but that might be more comparative to being able to hit a ball okay (break 100 or so).... If you're talking about trying to kick an MMA fighter I mean you need to compare that to like breaking par at Augusta.... His comparisons are just really off. It would be like me saying driving an F1 car is easy because it's just a car and I've been driving for 15 years.

Debatable, but I personally would favour saying it's much much tougher.
where golf gets crazy hard is when youre playing againts the wind, rain, or a bad lie... some people can do insane things from terrible situations

“You can be an alcoholic and still thrive at golf” say that to Jon Jones and/or gsps striking/muay Thai coach from France, that he invited onto the ultimate fighter 💯💯💯🤷♂️🤫🤫🤫🤫
@@aureate athleticism and technique are different things. Being more athletic doesn't make u technically better.
@@drystkrab269 Martial arts incorporates athleticism, technique, and split-second decision-making to boot
If I gave you the choice to prepare for a golf game or a full-contact MMA fight, the overwhelming majority of people would choose golf.
A club is effectively and extension of your body. A leg is part of your body so it’s more natural. But the ball doesn’t move. So they are hard to compare maybe
Joe went sideways early on this one and never recovered.
GOLF is the best sport on earth
With all of the political crap that gets spun out to the world from JRE, in all honesty these are the best kinds of JRE clips.
@ска Get a job omugly, we know you use bots all day
14 year pro drinker. Best game I ever shot and I played religiously for 8 years was a 74. That was 10 beers deep I played 36 that day. It truly is the most mental game of all time.
Joe: "Shut up you don't know what you're talking about"
Also Joe: "I'm not even a golfer"
The hypocrisy is so real
I’ve been in junior Olympics tkd when I was younger and trust me I know it’s hard af to kick someone in the head. Many people out there who come from gymnastic background who are flexible can look good kicking air or even a heavy bag but it’s a thousand times harder in sparring or a in a real fight. However I don’t think joe truly understands golfing. To hit that small ass ball with good power and form is not easy. If your trying to hit the ball just a several yards yeah it’s much easier but to drive that thing is hard af. First time golfing I remember missing the ball like 15 times in a row.
Felicidades, es un buen ejemplo.
250 sentadillas son unos Zeimbut.Host muchas y
un buen ejercicio.
5:25 Se deja ver que hay muy👆 buenos resultadosl,....
Dude ima golfer have been my whole life also done a very little bit of mma joe is dead wrong.
“Jones DIDNT do coke the weekend of the fight”
IT WAS E PILLS AND BOZE
been fighting and golfing for 15 years and i gotta say, Golf is more random.
There was no greater embarrassment in my life than the time I went to top golf….
100% takes more mental capacity to hit a golf ball than kick a human.
lol
No
I pwomise.
Here is what Joe doesn’t understand
Jamie smashing the ball on a driving range is the equivalent of kicking a punching bag
Playing on a course is the equivalent of kicking a person
And getting the ball in under par is a knockout?
@@99waterblade No
I think everybody needs to relax and understand that Joe was misunderstood and not being clear. He's talking about the ACT of actually hitting another human being vs hitting a little ball. Not the 2 sports.
Bro....it's not hard to kick someone the argument is the same.....kicking and hitting a ball correctly....is hard.
Best commentary so far. Either way, Rogan is extremely off the mark and a straight up dick about it at that. He tries to gaslight or just use his ego to change Tony’s stance. Don’t have a guest on your show just to shit on their takes, that’s all bad.
@neal cassady you must be really proud of your golf-adverse “fast mind” since you’ve commented about it multiple times. What an embarrassing over-simplification, especially for someone as bright as you. Guess I must be slow minded since I enjoy golf. Along with millions of others. Are you serious Neal?
@neal cassady no hate Neal! I disagree with your comments but would be ecstatic if you could find joy in the game! For a lot of grown men it’s the last facet of direct competition they have! It’s a great sport! Smoke weed, drink coffee, shoot heroine!!! Whatever it takes! Get your head in the game! :)
Would love to see joe, with his determination and work ethic, spend a week practicing hitting a golf ball and see how much he can progress over that timeframe. I thought we would get a glimpse after the Ron white podcast.
Golf is boring as shit
Joe definitely underestimates how hard it is to hit a drive straight. You can bomb one 400 yds your first year. And still never be any good at golfing in 30 years......
“…do you know how smart golfers are, and how dumb fighters are? 🧐” I’m 💀
Good at golf = ok, cool bro. I love you dude, I’m sure that’s sure
Good at MMA = ok, you’re an athlete MMA and you could destroy anyone I know in a physical conflict
Joe proving his lack of sports knowledge outside of MMA (it's allgood tho)
"You can hit a golf ball. It's right there. It's not moving anywhere."
Well... I could kick people when I was like three years old when they were just sitting there not moving anywhere.
A better comparison would be:
Hit a golf ball at your intended target with the proper distance, shape, height, and spin -VS- kicking an evasive trained fighter.
Both take a high level of skill.
Golf doesn’t get enough credit! Keep in mind that you don’t get to use a golf kart during actual matches.
Since i dont have spot. This channel is beast
Did martial arts for 13 years and I’ve also golfed a good amount in my days , golfing is without a doubt harder mentally and the accuracy needed in golf compared to landing a kick is just not even close .
