I was blessed with a Saint for over 12 years of my life. He turned my fear of dogs into unconditional love, was as imposing as the neighbor's pack of Huskies with whom he'd have the occasional barking match, and would play with me and my younger sister in the backyard. He was smarter than you'd expect from something that took a decade to realize it's no longer a puppy, he got into the heart of everyone, even those who hated animals, and though he lived long, extremely long for his breed, it wasn't enough.

That said, I think a St. Bernard would do ok in an apartment as long as you take them for a couple good long walks daily and regular trips to the dog park or some place they can be off leash and run full out for 45min to an hour. They are a pretty chill breed so as long as you'd be willing to make the commitment to exercising them daily they'd be fine.

We’ve had greyhounds too! There’s a track here that closed. They adopted out the dogs!
I had a 120 lb Golden Ret/Malamute Mix dog ❤ She was incredible! But I still had my house then!
They add $125 a month rent for each pet. Limit 2! And I think (it’s been awhile since I had my other Dog Rufus, a Parsons Jack Russell) but the added deposit was $1,000. I think 😂
I live in a beautiful complex. We don’t have “A” Maintenance guy, we have a 12 man team! Tho the dog park is just s shit covered field! They put poop stands with bags near every building (24) and people still let their dogs shit everywhere! 🤬 if you’re caught on camera not picking up after your dog, it’s eviction!

When I was a child my great great aunt gave me my first book on dogs. It taught me how to identify each breed of dog. People are often impressed by my skill of telling what type a dog they have. But I always wanted to see a St Bernard. But I only believed them to live in cold climates. Until the day me and my late brother ran into one wandering off leash in the neighborhood. I was shocked. As we were playing with the dog I noticed the massive drool hanging from it's muzzle. The drool was so thick that when the dog lied down for belly rubs the drool went down with it and came back up with dirty. I was like talk about some serious drool that just doesn't drop on the ground.

I live in ga and just got a saint recently. Cold climates are definitely preferable, but because of their lazy behavior, if you live some where that only gets to 90s you should be okay! My girl can stand the heat okay for a little while, and you can get alot of exercise outside. Theres also cooling vests if you need to walk them for long periods of time!! Just dont walk them at the hotests times of day.
If you do live in places like cali or vegas though, maybe steer clear since theyre always pretty hot

My in-laws owned several St Bernards. They were beautiful big hearted dogs.
They lived on property and practically anyone was allowed in, as long as you entered by the proper channels. We still remember that one time a good family friend stepped over the low fence surrounding the back yard instead of going through the gate and suddenly found himself pinned to the back wall of the house by a 90kg dog. She wasn’t angry, just keeping him still until someone gave her the okay.
That same dog broke into the laundry for shelter in a storm because the thunder upset her sensitive hearing. She took out half the door to get in.

When I was a teenager in the mid 1990s I would crash often at the house of my best buddy Tom. When they got a St. Bernard puppy named Heidi she and I became best buddies. I would let her lay on my lap and I would pet her and rub her belly for hours and she liked to sleep on top of my lap.
Fast forward to Heidi as a fully-grown St. Bernard of about 170lbs Heidi still loved sleeping on my lap, which was definitely not as comfortable for me as it was when she was a tiny puppy! I still let her though because I wasn’t about to break that sweet, gentle, and loving heart.
She’s been gone for many years now of course, because - for reasons I don’t understand - the Good Lord gave our best friends such short lifespans, but I still miss Heidi and think about her often. She was a very good girl!

His son had rescued them then his daughter in law ran into serious health problems so my brother and sister in law who were in poor health themselves took on these dogs. The female weighs about 140 lbs with the male slightly smaller the last time I saw them.
The way that the entrance to their house is designed there is a walkway between their stairway to upstairs and their dining area which is exactly the same width as 2 reclining St Bernards, which is where they stay most of the time. Omg you're not joking about dirty ceilings! My mother in law had a St. Bernard named Max. He was literally the sweetest dog I've ever seen and he was my sons best buddy. But he constantly looked like he are a running shoe and the laces were hanging out. And when he shook his head everywhere was ground zero for slobber strings!

I've always wanted a St. Bernard. But that first sentence you said is why I won't.

My parents owned a Saint Bernard when I was a baby/toddler/little girl. There’s plenty of pics/old home movies of me riding him. He was a great dog. My parents gave him away when we moved due to some bad vet advice. My Dad never stopped missing that dog. He never loved any other dog that we owned as much as he loved that one. They’re great dogs.

My St. Bernard is definitely offended by your description! She is the Princess of all Pooches and she’s a dry mouth St.
She is very active and loves to adventure around. But she doesn’t like to get snowed on….

I lost my 13 year old St. Bernard two years ago, and I'm still finding her hair in hard-to-reach places. This entire video is true and I miss her so much.
