I want to praise the owners of this Cane Corso for being so responsible as to get their puppy to come to the salon every day for socialisation and getting used to grooming. If you have a powerful dog like this, that is such a good course of action!
Not just these big ones either. I had a wheaten terrier who went to groomers regularly since my sister had gotten him & before he became mine. The groomers taught him well & he'd pull me into there all happy. Then he'd pull me to the car because he was done with it all. Can't blame him. Bathe, haircut, nails cut & ear hair pulling because he was prone to yeast infections. They only do the ear hair pulling on a vets advice. He'd just put up with all of it. He'd even just stand there & let them cut his nails. As for me I got 1 single nail through sheer stubbornness before giving up & saying the groomers can do it. Between his stubbornness & my fibromyalgia it wasn't happening. Still it's far far more important to socialize a big powerful dog like this. Especially with a groomer that's all up in his business. I mean a wheaten terrier is actually pretty big at 55 pounds but nothing this big beautiful boy.
Socialization is good, but it looks like his ears and tail are cropped, which I personally consider inhumane and abusive. He also came in wearing a choke collar, which also hurts the dog.
And even with that socialization Gucci is still a suspicious boi (who only accepts one single groomer). This isn't unusual for Cane Corsos, which is why most people are not fit owners for that dog breed.
I work as a vet tech and when people come by with a new puppy we always invite them to stop by if they're in the neighbourhood, just to come in for a bit, sniff around, get on the scales and get a treat. They tend to be a lot more chill if they don't just associate our place with getting poked and prodded.
Vet nurse here: when we talk about water in the ears causing ear infections, there are really two major risk factors that can turn that into an ear infection. The first is swimming, where they're submerging their ears in the water for long periods of time. The second is floppy ears, such as Cockers or Labradors, where those ears can then hold that water inside the ear long enough for bacteria and yeast to flourish. So unless you're standing there pouring a steady stream of water into their ears for minutes or hours at a time, the risk is minute. You're also correct that we suspect that repeated ear infections can be a sign of allergies, whether food-related or environmental. Allergies are weird. ;)
@@MrYulcha All I'm allergic to is dust which is environmental and everywhere. I swim often except when my allergies infect my ears and I get sinusitis sometimes. I can't swim often and it is a real bummer.
This is what I always wondered about - how water in a bath caused ear infections but swimming did not (especially given that dogs would be in the water longer when swimming, and lakes etc might have more bacteria in them). These explanations - both commenter and video - make sense.
Gucci is the most well behaved Cane Corso I have ever seen !!!!!! He is so laid back. Who ever trained him should be commended! And his owners deserve recognition for taking such good care of him !!!
That’s how your cane corso is supposed to be. I‘m very happy whenever I see a well trained Corso, there’s a lot of prejudice against them sadly because of some irresponsible owners :(
7:53 looks like a gargoyle on its perch...such a soulful pooch resigned to the task at hand. A well trained and masterfully handled dog. Nicely narrated and photographed...as usual:)
I love how Gucci was sitting so politely, with both front paws perfectly together, while he was being dried. Plus, Gucci looks amazing for 13 years old!
my roommate's boxer has almost the same level of pathetic-ness (his face isn't quite as droopy as Gucci's) that he uses on a regular basis. we joke that he always looks like he's about to be beaten when in reality his food dish is full and his toys are all over the floor. like Rufus you're fine, quit looking so sad 🤣🤣
@@debjoy12on the side note love the dogs name and their is something about sad faces on dogs that warm my heart because they look so sad yet so gosh darn cute
Such an underrated breed. Never met a breed that loved their owner as much as the Corso. They are absolutely miserable without their family especially without their "person". We had a crate that we left open for ours. The only time he went in it was when I went away. Socialization is obviously very important but I can not stress how much they rely on their family. Mine never expressed separation anxiety but he literally was my shadow. It has been 6 years and there still is not a day I don't think about him. For the first year, I would wake up and talk to him before I remembered he wasn't here. I love to see these videos, exhibiting a very stable, confident, dog. Thank you xx
So sorry for your loss. It sounds like you were blessed with a wonderful pup. I lost my sweet girl, a rescue lab mix, around a year and a half ago, and I still tell her goodnight every night like I always did right before we both fell asleep for the night. She’s still on my mind 24/7. I truly felt like our souls were intertwined, and we were both eachothers whole world. Everything still just feels so wrong without her. Our bond was so special, and the biggest blessing I could have ever asked God for. I only wish they could be with us on earth longer, but I believe one day I will see her again. My heart will be forever broken for her until that day comes though. Gentle hugs to you 💕
Firstly I thought Gucci was just looking bored by the whole experience, but I think he was trying to maintain as much dignity as possible. What a gorgeous doggo
@ Jane frost, he really was dignified to the end, I loved how he seemed to absorb his surroundings when he was in the garden. Beautiful and pleasant dog and so well behaved.
Can't forget that they're work intensive though. Like most big working dogs, you need to spend a lot of time with them for exercise and training for them to become so relaxed around things they don't enjoy. A lot of people see the end product and underestimate the time needed to get there. But just like with a Mastiff, a Rottweiler, an Ovcharka etc. it all comes down to competent ownership. Well, in fact that applies to all dogs, smaller ones are just not as much of a problem when acting up.
I think the problem comes when people who don’t understand how these dogs need to be treated but them because they’re cool looking. I think they’re cool looking but I know enough to understand that I could never have one.
One of my dog's first role models and friends was a 127 lb Cane Corso named Kane. I was scared to introduce my 14lb puppy to him but he was a gentle giant and just loved puppies. He taught my golden retriever some manners in only a way another well balanced dog could. Thankful to him. RIP.
My brother had a Cane Corso named Kane. He was a black, beautiful masterpiece. I miss that guy. He has a new cane named Luka & we love him too but he doesn’t love me as much as Kane did. 😢
im in the process of making my first role model dog, she is a girl mixbreed lab rottie named Kali, she is 21 months now and i have an 8 yo corso/rottie/lab mix called Shiva who now acts as the role model for the younger one and i find it to be amazing for younger dogs, Kali has learned so much from Shiva at this point, and we are talking things we cant really teach them and they have to figure out for themselves usually, like how to behave around children and elderly for which Shiva (who is btw my emotional support dog and the dog i currently use to help people get over their fear of dogs as she is such a gentle giant) is amazing, while i lived in the city when Shiva was still in her 2 year of life, she'd escort this elderly neighbour to the store and back ever single day and we went as volunteers to the elderly home alot where the residents would take turns petting her and playing with her. I do all the training myself and im not a proper dog trainer (yet) so one might say im just getting lucky with the training but i put in the work and try to educate myself the most i can and try to gain knowledge every day on the topic, from my work to watching and reading about others work, like this girls video is veeery insightfull and she is a super pro at what she does, thats a groomer you want for your dogs, especially if they are anything like mine and would bathe in every single pool river and puddle they can find but when it's shower time there comes the drama, not to even mention nail clipping :D
Met one of those guys in the subway a few years ago. Everyone was switching seats to get away a far away from him as they could. I stayed, talked to his owner and a few moments later I had a Cane Corso cuddle bug drooling on my knee, looking at me longingly and then throwing himself to my feet with a little earthquake and demanding belly rubs. What a beautiful, majestic and stinking cute dog!
I’ve known three people who had them over the last twenty years. All extremely chill and friendly. But I’m one of those people most dogs seem to trust.
He's such a big BABY I'm in love. He just looks so resigned to the process the entire time! It's really great to hear how careful his owners are/were about socializing him and making sure he'd be comfortable and safe coming to you for grooming.
Can't understand owners that don't socialize their dog. It's a liability issue for starters and it makes the dog more fun to have around. Had a Wolf/ German Shepherd mix that weighted 122Lb. Did his job as a protection dog when needed but you could trust him with a toddler. Worked him every day and watched him well with kids till I decided they were safe with him. What can you say when your dog gets a hand drawn invitation to Christmas dinner by the preschool and elementary school set when your friends do a group Christmas dinner? Since I won't let him beg they took up a "Collection" for me to give him in his bowel. It amazed me how many vets were scared of him. I just used to give him the shots etc while they watched, never did see him react much other than not liking his temperature getting taken.
His facial expression said it all. "Are we done yet? Are you done torturing me? Yes yes, I'm a good boy." Looks into the camera, "someone come save me please" sad puppy dog look. Yes, Gucci is just way too much Cane Corso for his own good and yes, they are huge, but they trust those they are living with with their lives. ❤
Took my Cane Corso to the groomer and the first time he went they had to go to Home Depot next door and buy a Dremel tool because they didn't have anything in the store that would clip his nails. He broke several pairs of their clippers. Always loved taking him out in public because he was so huge but definitely a gentle giant. My Granddaughter learned to walk with him and he never once caused her to fall down. Same with a friend that I worked with that had a daughter that stayed with us a good bit.
"maybe if I look sad enough, you'll feel bad for me and stop..." what an absolute treasure! he's so well behaved, a clear credit to his early socialisation and likely ongoing training. my main question is how do you resist smooching those big lovable faces?! or do you just cut those out of the video? 😂
I think dogs in general don't really like to be hugged, or kissed in the face. My dog is especially loving but I would not try to smooch a stranger's dog!
Knowing how powerful those dogs are - it's great to see that such a good boy has great owners who cared enough to work to get him socialized in the right way. These dogs are only for seasoned owners who know what they're doing, but they are gorgeous and he is such a beautiful boy.
I'm not going to lie to you, seeing that massive Cane Corso in a happy hoodie has to be one of the most hysterical things that I've seen in a while. It had me tickled.
I once met a mastiff/cane corso mix named Lily and she was the biggest, scariest sweetheart angel of a dog I've ever met. She even had scars like she'd gotten in fights, but it was just that another dog had attacked her and she was too sweet to properly defend herself. Still think about her all the time, very strange looks vs. temperament
Thank you Vanessa for trying to explain working with big dogs. If you have interacted with dogs for years you just know. In my area, I am the only one who grooms large dogs and aggressive dogs (a small dog groomer refers them to me). You can absolutely tell how a dog will react with grooming as soon as you see them. Peopla ask me "but how do you know without touching them". Its a feeling, you just know. If you love what you do and you care, you just know. Sending our furry family love from Greece ❤️
there's a book called "the gift of fear". basically when you don't let your anxiety and prejudice run the show, you can get in tune with your internal alarms and respond to the danger cues quickly
I love it, grooming this massive dog who could eat a human head in one bite, and you’re like “And now you shall smell like a sugar cookie!” But Gucci was so well behaved, you can tell the owners did their research and understood what the responsibilities were when getting a dog like this.
@@fabricdragon You can contact breeders ahead of time and tell them you want an intact puppy. Enough people do that, and breeders stop mutilating puppies as a default.
@@carpediem7654 Because they like the way it LOOKS. And then they sometimes also make up some BS about excessive tail-wagging leading to broken tails as a justification.
What a beautiful and well behaved big boy! His dignified strut at 11:20 and then sitting down after - makes him look like a lord of the manor...calmly surveying his well managed estate 🙂
My brother owned a Cane Corso. Bishop was an absolute sweetheart of a dog. He was stately, happy, a goof ball and a best friend to us all. We were all so sad when he passed away at 5 years old. He had seizures for the last 2 years and finally he succumbed to them. With proper training this is a wonderful companion dog that can defend you to the end. Rest in Peace Bishop.
Every time I see one of these gentle giant beasts, I am drawn to them...not sure why, and of course, in my 70's I could never and would never consider one. I just think they are gorgeous dogs and so glad there are owners out there that can handle these dogs :)
I'm in my 20's and PERSONALLY I wouldn't have a dog like this either cause I'm just under 5' tall and I wouldn't feel safe walking a dog that much bigger and heavier than me for mine and the dog's safety really, it's good to know our limits 😊
I git mine from a responsible breeder and I have to say I've only had real success at training is a chihuahua (lol) but my corso was pretty much accidentally trained. I wasn't trying to teain her she just listened to what I said. You tell a dog to get in their dog bed most dogs will do what they want. I didn't try to enforce it but I did reward her with good girls and treats. (Sorry I say to much when less can be said.)
His owners did such an amazing job at socializing him, it's very easy to notice by watching this video. Lovely to see owners dedicated to make their dog's lifes easier and less stressful, it takes a lot of work but it's totally worth it
He was concentrating so hard on being tolerant and he seemed to be reminding himself "I must maintain control and allow her to retain her limbs attached to her torso.". Gucci is a credit to his owners, his breed, himself and the process you guided him through over time to socialize him.
:@John, he was so stoic and resigned to his fate but determined to go through it, he almost seemed like he was meditating and as you said, maintaining control and being tolerant and peaceful was the order of the day for Gucci, the stern and soulful; looking Cane Corso pup.
I have PTSD from my work and I have to say watching your videos with the dogs are so relaxing and calming for me. I look forward to all of them. Thank you for posting.
Yeah your right pal same for me just realised I watched it 10min before it clicked lol was just zoned out chilled watching a dog get groomed lol madness
That is one well-behaved dog. His facial expression says, "Here we go again, sigh". He's one intimidating looking hunk but you handle him with confidence, so I'm impressed. Also I like your shoes, they must be waterproof.
@@chanavermes9072 Not sure about her shoes, but I have a pair and they are 100% waterproof. I was definitely surprised when I got them. I live in NYC and they were a godsend walking around Manhattan. They don't last long though because we beat the crap out of our shoes.
I am a veterinarian and I can tell you that you are absolutely correct about what causes ear infections. Think of retrievers that are in water constantly. They are fine. Ear infections are an extension of skin disease, usually allergies.
I agree with you on how big dogs don't have to be scary! I'm a vet so my experience may be a bit different from yours, but generally I find cane corsos big sweet doofuses that will generally just try to get away or use their weight to get out of something scary instead of biting. It's the improperly socialised shepherds and Belgian malinois types I have to watch out for usually.
I've worked at dog grooming shops and a vet clinic in my youth, and you're absolutely right. It's the shepherds and chihuahuas that'll get you, usually. Well, and the cats lol
I bet a lot of sleddogs (or spitz types) aswell. First time I came to the vet with my full grown husky the vet was like ‚you’re sure we don’t need to do this with a muzzle?' Not the first time people had bad experiences with huskies and told me about it sadly :/
@@spooksbukowski63 personally, I find the spitz/husky types to be VERY mouthy, but rarely put any pressure behind their bites. That said, I've had to use a muzzle on a husky once. But just once. The pointy-eared group are usually pretty smart and realize you're not trying to hurt them, but they do enjoy making their displeasure known lol
@@spooksbukowski63 That one's fifty-fifty honestly. Most of them are well-behaved, they're a bit rarer in my country these days so people who get them most definitely know what they're getting. :)
I had to rewatch this bc I absolutely LOVE the wonderfully happy facial expressions on Gucci's face when he's in the shower🤣 I hafta take my hat off to Gucci's pawrents bc it takes such dedication , training, patience & most of all, love to raise such a well adjusted Cane Corso(any breed actually😊)! They've done such a wonderful job with him & seeing Vanessa take charge of him is such an amazing site💙💙🤍🤍💙💙 luv ya Vanessa 🐕
Watching him walk around outside, you can see the muscles he has! He's not only big but extremely strong. Kudos to the owners for having him socialized at an early age. They are responsible dog owners. I wish that it was a requirement for large breed dog owners, that they have to have their dog socialized. It will never happen but... There needs to be more responsible owners.
I wish this was the norm for all dogs. My dog has been attacked by toy breed dogs. Thankfully he never aggressed back. Too often little ones are allowed to be aggressive because they are so small and owners think it is cute. Not all of course. I know many who are lovely.
@@Tori_TLCR When walking my own dog out--shar pei mix that rides the line between medium and large--on walks or hikes or to the park, small dogs are more often the problem. And for that very reason. A cane corso/rottie mix (a MASSIVE boy, lemme tell ya) adopted my dog as his best friend for the day and was incredibly friendly to her. Meanwhile, chihuahuas are always barking and showing aggression at her. (My dog herself has a sort of "do no harm, take no foul" attitude.) There was at least one time I had to be the responsible one and drag my dog away from the impending confrontation while the chihuahua owner just stood there called her own dog (who started it) fiesty.
@@elfdragon1227 Too often little dogs aren't well trained or socialized. With larger dogs generally people put in more effort because a large breed dog that's unruly or aggressive is a liability. On walks, when we pass a house, big dogs are often quiet and friendly, the little ones charge the fence and bark trying to start fights. My dog has had little dogs attack and hang off his face by dogs that were off-leash even though the owners knew they were aggressive. It makes me angry because my dog could if he wanted to, seriously hurt their little dog just because of the size and strength difference. Of course I also don't appreciate my dog being attacked, even if it is a small dog, he's my baby. One of my dog's first friends was a Cane Corso, another gentle giant. He's had some small breed friends like pugs and Shih Tzu's that were great as well. If I ever get a Chihuahua or small dog, I'm raising them to be social and doing obedience just as I would a large breed dog.
I had a pal with a Cane Corso. We would engage in playful activities and then unwind with naps. Learning about his passing last month deeply saddened me. He was a true gentleman, and reminiscing about the times with him, especially when I see Gucci, brings back fond memories. Farewell, my friend, wherever you may be. 🐾
I have “met” one of these lovely dogs. Since I was holding the 4 month old nephew of his owner, he returned to my side frequently. Loved the way he wanted to be sure the littlest member of his pack was safe!
I love how he determinedly sat himself down as soon as he got on the drying table. His face and body language were basically saying "I know what you're about to do and it's going to happen this way and this way only." 😂
Such a beautiful big boy. He certainly has made my day. The look on his face the entire groom was hilarious. Like really? Can you PLEASE hurry this up seeing as I HAVE to get groomed. Oh and hats off to his awesome owners/parents. So very responsible and I only wish there were so many more like them, and less like the abusive kind. Also great job again Vanessa. Not only with Gucci’s groom and how you handle him, but also allowing his owners to bring him every day for his first year. Obviously by you allowing that to happen, has definitely helped Gucci be the beautiful boy he is today. Awesome job all round X♥️♥️
My Cane Corso absolutely loves bath time and his daily brush. We use a palm horse brush to get his coat super shiny. And brush his teeth once a week with an electric toothbrush. Early socialization and constant training is key in sharing your life with a Corso .
I have aCane Corso and a French Bulldog, and believe me, it's the little guy that is more lightly to bite or nip me. You do a wonderful job. Ignore the haters, they'll always find something to give grief about!❤
A beautiful calm dog! Very well trained with responsible owners wanting him to get used to other dogs and grooming! They have invested a lot of time and effort in their dog and it has paid off!
His eyes remind me of my dog who passed away last year today (he had some mastiff in him). Such soul and personalities in these wonderful big dogs. He was 12, and around 105 lbs. I hope Gucci brings lots of slobber and love to his family for many years to come.
I have watched this over and over & just love this handsome boy. He is a true gentleman & a credit to his breed and his owners. Would love to give him a pat and a scratch.
My daughter and her bf have a Cane Corso pup called Zaye. He's about 20 weeks and humongous but due to early socialising with dogs and people, he is so good natured. He's black and doesn't have his ears and tail docked like Gucci here. Gucci seems so well behaved. xxx
Makes me happy to read that your grandpuppy : ) got to keep his tail and ears. The dog in the video is still beautiful but as he was strutting through the yard I'm thinking what a weird look it is with those tiny cut ears and half tail. Don't see why the puppies need to be put through those surgeries and healing pain, especially if they're kept as pets and not working dogs.
You'll have a much happier, healthier and easier to handle/socialise dog with all his parts in tact... Especially when it comes to interacting with other dogs. He needs his ears and tail to communicate, with cropped ears you only get a fraction of the his cues. Plus, it's cruel and illegal in most civilised societies. Leave the bits on your dog unless a veterinarian advises otherwise.
@@eva-w Dogs with cropped ears and docked tails make for less capable working animals anyhow... The Schutzhund competitions answered that question ages ago. The only reason people do it is for aesthetics and that is cruel in my opinion. I'm glad it's illegal in Australia, where I am.
@@C.Fecteau-AU-MJ13 Absolutely! 100% with you. Been outlawed for decades where I'm from as well. I don't know, I'm thinking, it might be this "individual freedom" attitude in the US (Canada the same?) - "It's my dog and to my dog I do whatever I want!" - Yeah, uhm, what about what the dog wants, since he's the one who has to go through this s##t and has to live with the consequences? Ouuuf, and don't get me started on declawing cats...
That was really fun to watch. Gucci looks sooo forlorn throughout. He never changed his facial expression: no yawns, no panting, nothing. I don’t recall him looking anywhere but forward. Even outside, he was sedate. Did he get some doggie CBD, I wonder? I like this second channel.
Watched for the 2nd time. He’s very regal looking! But, big dogs do scare me……a little! You’re amazing - I’ve learned so much about different breeds! Thank you ❤️
@@mailill that's just characteristic of the cane corso breed. Thet are guard dogs. They bond with their owners and you pretty much are just socializing them to tolerate everyone else and not be too aggressive. They will never be super social and friendly that's not what they were bred for.
Look at that head..! It's huge...and beautiful...! I rescued a Pittie that wandered onto my neighbors yard, she threw shoes at him and sprayed water at him to get him off her yard, broke my heart....we've had him for 3 months, he is sweet, docile and safe...we love our little Choco.! A Simply Stunning dog which is behaving typical of his breed when reared and trained and socialised since a puppy. Well done owners and your boy is credit to you. ❤
Mine was my service animal in LA. 10,000 bus trips, 5000 subway trips, two flights across the country and 50 Amtrak trips.... we attended two colleges and volunteered with Dr.s Without Borders and Martin Luther King Jr Hospital. All that activity and never a problem. Amazing breed
@@calcanecorso that’s incredibly interesting. I never knew that a dog like this would be trained as a service dog. I would think it’s size alone would make it less practical
@@tommym321 My problem is that I'd pass out for between 30 seconds and one minute. Not a good thing when you live in Inglewood and volunteer in Compton/Watts
@TommyM321 Some types of service dogs are actually required to be larger and sturdier. Mobility dogs serve their owners as walking canes. They usually perform other tasks as well. Think of it this way, it'd be rather inconvenient to need both a dog and a cane all the time, so an animal that can fill both those roles is very helpful to their owners.
The look on the Cane Corso's face waiting for his owner broke my heart. Where is my Human? Am I to be alone for the rest of my life?! The Cane Corsos I have met have been sweet, and that face with those eyes and the general body language communicates clearly.
I wanted to thank you. I switched my dog to hypoallergenic kibble and his ear infections are now few and far between, when they used to be almost constant. He's also started having back issues due to age, and he didn't like back massages; so I bought a ZoomGroom, which he doesn't mind at all, and I can tell that the massage it provides helps a lot. Thank you so much for sharing what you know, my beloved dog's life has got better thanks to you! 💚
Love that I found your channel, not only do I love what you do for these people and their fur babies but, I've gathered so many useful tips and tools to wash my little hooligan 😅🙌🏿🙏🏿 thank you for existing ❤
We had a Cane Corso come to my work who was very shy and timid while in his kennel and disliked men but once he was out in the yard he was the happiest biggest drooly baby I've ever met and I hope he comes back again.
They're dogs that thrive on open space as do most guard breeds. When they're cooped up they will feel trapped and the only reaction is aggression to try and make people give them space. When you take away that feeling of being trapped most dogs (most not all lol) should be less inclined to attack out of fear.
Gucci is a very stately Mister, isn't he? I love the way he calmly just deals with it. Great job on allowing him in your shop so often! Sometimes it's very hard to get enough socializing in with the powerful breeds. Everyone wants the cute fluffy pups around, not so much the well muscled, cropped beauties like like this guy! Former Vet Tech here (a well as Doberman & Great Dane owner); I much prefer the really big, powerful dogs. Especially working dogs. Their body language is generally *very* clear, & if you take any warnings or stiffness seriously, you'll do just fine. Most terrifying dog I ever worked with was a Yorkshire Terrier. He was 2 pounds of absolute fury & snapping teeth...with a bow in his hair. 😄 Yikes!
I’m a dog handler, and yes, the smaller dogs can be a terror! The problem is people don’t often take the time to train them or treat them like dogs, the poor things.
Well to be fair terriers are little shits with oversized personalities. Had a friend who had two Mastiffs and one terrier, he never had a problem taking the mastiffs for a walk but the terrier would literally challenge dogs that were larger than him always got into trouble/
I'm watching this while cuddled up to my own Cane Corso named Odin. He's an old man now. He's a rescue and I'll tell you right now he is not breed standard. Smaller without that much muscle. Also ears aren't cropped, though the tail is. But I still see that he is in the face shape and those eyes. I have 2 Cane Corsos and their golden brown eyes are piercing. And they're so gentle. Goofy sometimes clumsy creatures who just want to learn on you as you pet them. They are weary of strangers and will bark and get all up in their business but will leave them alone after they know they're chill. Before these I've always had bullmastiffs and I think the Corso is a bit more active and protective than the bullies, but that good ol derpy charm is present in all of them.
I’ve had the honor of sharing my life with six various Mastiff breeds. The one thing all Mastiff’s have in common is you can never force them to do anything they don’t want to do. They are by far the most sensitive souls you will ever meet. The key with them is learning their personalities and respecting their idiosyncrasies,as you would a human. This dog as described has all the traits of the 200 pound baby presently lying under my desk. The only thing larger than a Mastiff’s size is the love they have for their family!
@@cryptojunkies3619 My boys are litter mates actually. They were trained apart very early and often so they aren't bonded or have "litter mate" syndrome. We can take either or out alone and the other one does not care. They are good with people and kids, but don't know their own size so we keep an eye on them if smaller kids are visiting. My smaller (~115lbs) boy is a people pleaser, but his bigger brother (~125 lbs) is a Daddy's boy and typically only listens to me immediately. If my wife gives him a command, he'll look at me first if I'm in the room. Big/medium size dogs are fine, cats are fine...small dog are NOT fine. Drool is EVERYWHERE. Before I got them, I painted the interior of our house with flat sheen. Since then, I switched to mostly egg-shell just because it's so much easier to clean.
In regards to ear infections I agree with you 100% our standard poodle had chronic ear infections in the left ear. A UCD vet finally diagnosed him. He was allergic to chicken. Never had another ear infection after that and he loved to swim
@@cHAOTICeXOTIC910 it took them 2 yrs to find out the reason! Crazy! Seems it's very common with dogs to be allergic to chicken. Everything has chicken in it so it was hard to find food and treats. We lost him in 2020 but he was the best dog we've ever had. Thank you for your concern 🙏
I met my first Cane Corso this weekend, the owner has him as an emotional service animal. Duck was a big baby, because he was socialize starting at 5 months old.
Poor guy. This is like taking Tony Soprano into a beauty salon. He's so patient and with the hoody, his dog friends would never respect him if they saw that. We have to keep it between us humans.
We love the Mastiff, Boxer and Bully breeds. Gucci is an amazing dog. We adopted a rescued Boxer/Mastiff years ago and at 105# he was the biggest dog we’ve ever had but just a gentle giant. We now have 3 “normal” size Boxers, 2 are rescues. We owned English Bulldogs in the past also. All have been wonderful companions. Love your channel ❤
I had a Cane Corse, when I got him (as a puppy) he was very stubborn but with proper training and socialisation, he was amazing. Definitely not for the inexperienced dog owner but wow! What a dog.
Gucci reminds me of our Cane Corso who was the BEST BOY. they are such a magical and adorable breed. Absolutely big babies. Ours used to get stuck under curtains 😂
Sheesh, this dog is a total sweetie. KUDOS to owners and you and all of the folks and dogs who were an early part of his life and social training. He was a cupcake. Too big, but still a cupcake. I was led to believe that some ear problems are due to the canal shape itself, is that BS? Thanks again. I learn something each video. Noticed the perfection of his sitting symmetry while you were blowing him dry, with the snood, HA.

I have two cane corsos, littermates born in my living room almost 13 years ago. They are huge and vicious-looking. And they are complete babies. They whine when they don’t get their way. They run away and hide when I pull out the bottle of ear cleaner. They cry the whole time we put them in the shower. They’re terrified of new things. Complete babies. All they want are treats and pets.
Your Corsos are 13?! That’s wonderful!! My girl is 9 and I’ve been so sad thinking that we may be parted soon. But you have given me hope that maybe she will be with me longer!
Everyone has done a fantastic job socializing this big boy to the point he seemed bored by the whole thing. I would hate to see him coming at me excited he's huge. Great dog and great video.
Was thinking same. Dog like the Coro requires socializing and training, he clearly has received both. He’s a handsome dude.
Allergies are weird. ;)
what are enviromental reasons for ear infections?
@@MrYulcha All I'm allergic to is dust which is environmental and everywhere. I swim often except when my allergies infect my ears and I get sinusitis sometimes. I can't swim often and it is a real bummer.
This is what I always wondered about - how water in a bath caused ear infections but swimming did not (especially given that dogs would be in the water longer when swimming, and lakes etc might have more bacteria in them). These explanations - both commenter and video - make sense.
Same reasons for humans.
And the other thing is not drying the ears properly.
Gucci is the most well behaved Cane Corso I have ever seen !!!!!! He is so laid back. Who ever trained him should be commended! And his owners deserve recognition for taking such good care of him !!!
He's such a well-behaved dog!😭 He clearly dislikes the process, but patiently and calmly endures it.
I’m sure he feels so great once he is done. That’s how my dog is. Hates the process but feels like a princess once she’s done
I have a female cane Corso she us excatly the same. She doesn't like it but endures it.

That’s how your cane corso is supposed to be. I‘m very happy whenever I see a well trained Corso, there’s a lot of prejudice against them sadly because of some irresponsible owners :(

Aww he’s gorgeous, so polite and accepting. The owners should be proud of how they have raised him.

Gucci looked flat out humiliated when being dried (the ear wrap sold it for me)
Firstly I thought Gucci was just looking bored by the whole experience, but I think he was trying to maintain as much dignity as possible. What a gorgeous doggo
@ Jane frost, he really was dignified to the end, I loved how he seemed to absorb his surroundings when he was in the garden. Beautiful and pleasant dog and so well behaved.
He was silently praying, “Lord, let the torture end…”
Can't forget that they're work intensive though. Like most big working dogs, you need to spend a lot of time with them for exercise and training for them to become so relaxed around things they don't enjoy. A lot of people see the end product and underestimate the time needed to get there. But just like with a Mastiff, a Rottweiler, an Ovcharka etc. it all comes down to competent ownership. Well, in fact that applies to all dogs, smaller ones are just not as much of a problem when acting up.
I think the lights are on, but there's no-one at home.
I think the problem comes when people who don’t understand how these dogs need to be treated but them because they’re cool looking. I think they’re cool looking but I know enough to understand that I could never have one.
What a dignified ambassador for the breed. Props to his parents. well done 👏

Good thing that he's such a baby.
He’s doing such a good job holding up that wall 😂 pretty sure Gucci is key to the structural integrity of that shower lol

What a great dog. So well behaved. His parents did a great job getting him used to a salon.
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
The owners did a great job socializing him so early. Really responsible owners.
Definitely. All people with all dogs, regardless of breed or mix, should socialize them like this. But, Cane Corsos need it probably more than most.
Agreed. People need to socialize their dogs. Pets are a responsibility
Hello 👋how are you doing?
You know he was singing “in the arms of an angel” in his head the whole time.
😅😅😅
Took my Cane Corso to the groomer and the first time he went they had to go to Home Depot next door and buy a Dremel tool because they didn't have anything in the store that would clip his nails. He broke several pairs of their clippers. Always loved taking him out in public because he was so huge but definitely a gentle giant. My Granddaughter learned to walk with him and he never once caused her to fall down. Same with a friend that I worked with that had a daughter that stayed with us a good bit.
Gucci is being so patient 😮 you can tell that he doesn’t enjoy the process but tolerated it
He’s a good boy 🥲
Vanessa is pretty much family to him and he trusts her and understands what she expects of him. And obviously he's a good boy.
He has that "I'm not amused" face nailed.
For sure, he knows he's supposed to, because his owner has trained him well. He's trying so hard poor dude:)
What a cool guy. Looks very well socialized. I remember him from another video.
"maybe if I look sad enough, you'll feel bad for me and stop..."
what an absolute treasure! he's so well behaved, a clear credit to his early socialisation and likely ongoing training.
my main question is how do you resist smooching those big lovable faces?! or do you just cut those out of the video? 😂
That's exactly what I was thinking. He had the sad kicked puppydog eyes going full blast through his bath. And then again with the happy hoodie.
I think dogs in general don't really like to be hugged, or kissed in the face. My dog is especially loving but I would not try to smooch a stranger's dog!

Great info, thanks. Sending love to Greece from USA!
So true. I preferred larger dogs because they are generally more cooperative than smaller breeds.
there's a book called "the gift of fear". basically when you don't let your anxiety and prejudice run the show, you can get in tune with your internal alarms and respond to the danger cues quickly
dogs can sense human emotions. if you are afraid of big dogs then the big dogs are going to react badly to you being afraid
I love it, grooming this massive dog who could eat a human head in one bite, and you’re like “And now you shall smell like a sugar cookie!” But Gucci was so well behaved, you can tell the owners did their research and understood what the responsibilities were when getting a dog like this.
I don't like his owners for three reasons: his cropped ears, his docked tail, and the name Gucci. Poor dog.
@@austenhead5303 its VERY likely the owners never had a say in the docking. that is done very very young by the breeder.
@@fabricdragon You can contact breeders ahead of time and tell them you want an intact puppy. Enough people do that, and breeders stop mutilating puppies as a default.
@@austenhead5303 why do they crop ears and dock tails?
@@carpediem7654 Because they like the way it LOOKS.
And then they sometimes also make up some BS about excessive tail-wagging leading to broken tails as a justification.

Couldnt agree more. was let down by that choice of collar
I literally laughed because my brain had a hard time computing the amount of muscle and tone on that dog is it was walking outside

Awesome.
And the sad music at the end ❤️😓
He just wanted his parents.
Right. You can see him looking for them.
He didn't make one sound.
@@bigredc222 They might have used a trainer because he was really good. With a dog this size, it's a must.
Watched for the 2nd time. He’s very regal looking! But, big dogs do scare me……a little! You’re amazing - I’ve learned so much about different breeds! Thank you ❤️
what a good boy! i’m glad there are some people out there who actually know how to train and raise big dogs!
He absolutely was trained well.
@@gerardinecizmar Yet, she said he is not safe with strangers. That's a red flag to me.
@@mailill that's just characteristic of the cane corso breed. Thet are guard dogs. They bond with their owners and you pretty much are just socializing them to tolerate everyone else and not be too aggressive. They will never be super social and friendly that's not what they were bred for.
They are dangerous and should be forbidden.
@@Qrtuop Having any dog that is generally unsafe with strangers should be forbidden. It's like having a ticking bomb.
Greetings from Southern Texas
Hi 👋 how are you doing?
That’s horrible, at least he has a home now!
A Simply Stunning dog which is behaving typical of his breed when reared and trained and socialised since a puppy. Well done owners and your boy is credit to you. ❤
Glad they're honest about the aggression the dog has towards strangers. This breed of dog is very difficult to handle but seems comfortable with her.
I think she's part of his safe circle.
He knows the drill,
and so calm about it all.
Wonderful 😊
Wow, grooming haiku!
I’m so here for that fact that, he is clearly welll-behaved, and socialized, but still had limits.
Good job for respecting his limits.
The look on the Cane Corso's face waiting for his owner broke my heart. Where is my Human? Am I to be alone for the rest of my life?! The Cane Corsos I have met have been sweet, and that face with those eyes and the general body language communicates clearly.
Hello Ann how are you doing today
I wanted to thank you. I switched my dog to hypoallergenic kibble and his ear infections are now few and far between, when they used to be almost constant. He's also started having back issues due to age, and he didn't like back massages; so I bought a ZoomGroom, which he doesn't mind at all, and I can tell that the massage it provides helps a lot. Thank you so much for sharing what you know, my beloved dog's life has got better thanks to you! 💚
Yea, I don’t think wolves eat grains. Lol
😄 Yikes!
It's always the little dogs isn't it?! lol
I’m a dog handler, and yes, the smaller dogs can be a terror! The problem is people don’t often take the time to train them or treat them like dogs, the poor things.
There's nothing beautiful about a cropped dog.
Well to be fair terriers are little shits with oversized personalities. Had a friend who had two Mastiffs and one terrier, he never had a problem taking the mastiffs for a walk but the terrier would literally challenge dogs that were larger than him always got into trouble/
I was with you until the cropped statement. Nothing cool about mutilating a dog to satisfy your own perverted disgusting sense of vanity. Shameful.
He’s SO well behaved!! Beautiful ‘little pup’!! I would love nothing more than to have one of these along with a French Mastiff!!
Such a chill guy. I love that he looks like a grumpy old man just looking at you like "yep, this is my life" 😂
😂😂😂
He's really enthusiastic also
I'm watching this while cuddled up to my own Cane Corso named Odin.
Such a sweet boy! A gentle giant
Why do abusive people dog fight them?
I have a pair of these dogs myself. They are the one of reasons why I converted my downstairs tub into a walk-in shower.
How are yours with kids? Also, did you get a boy and a girl or did you try same sex? Lastly how is the drool?
@@stes9949 thanks so much for the info
@@cryptojunkies3619 Valuable indeed.
1:20, when he puts his big old mug up into the camera and looks put out but too tired to resist. So adorable!
In regards to ear infections I agree with you 100% our standard poodle had chronic ear infections in the left ear. A UCD vet finally diagnosed him. He was allergic to chicken. Never had another ear infection after that and he loved to swim
Hello Debbie how are you doing today
Never heard of a chicken allergy before, hope your dog is doing much better now
@@cHAOTICeXOTIC910 it took them 2 yrs to find out the reason!
This dog is so beautiful! Loved him in hoodie, looked like a baby bonnet on him💜💜💜 love big dogs and he’s a gorgeous one!💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
What a dog.
What a big gorgeous baby!! Endured with quiet dignity!!
Gucci reminds me of our Cane Corso who was the BEST BOY. they are such a magical and adorable breed. Absolutely big babies. Ours used to get stuck under curtains 😂
🤣🤣that's adorkable
I love how chill he is, he is like yup ! just another day visiting my friend Vanessa
I have never seen a CANE CORSO so mellow...well done on forming a great bond with him
Cane Corsos are my favorite and I absolutely loved watching this. Thank you :)
Presa Canario's are nice too
Sheesh, this dog is a total sweetie.
I'm so happy you decided to create a channel with longer videos! I've been watching you regular channel for a while now and I always wished you had longer videos

I have two Corsos. They are good girls. I love his stoic nature. He is a beautiful boy!
He is absolutely handsome.
His owners are doing a wonderful job of socializing and training. He's very calm and well mannered. 💞
@@marriec09 yeah, we’re a little over three weeks until their 13th birthday now.
Oh yeah, my 1-year-old cane corso is very into "fairness" right now. She counts how many treats her big brother gets lol
What a well behaved, handsome tank of a dog. Bravo to the owners for proper training & socialization.
Everyone has done a fantastic job socializing this big boy to the point he seemed bored by the whole thing. I would hate to see him coming at me excited he's huge. Great dog and great video.
