This brings me back. I had a Saint Bernard for many years. She had to groomed once a month. After her groom you had to tell her how beautiful she was and how good she smelled or she would ignore you until you did. 🤣

I was going to say the same thing we had a male St. Bernard. We didn’t take him to the groomers though, because he had too much anxiety. He really loves to be brushed because I calmed him down but we didn’t put him in a groomer situation because he had too much anxiety, seeing that thumbnail made me up cry we had to put him down December 3, 2021. He lived a good 10 years and his name was Samson. I would sleep with him when he became older on the bathroom floor I wanted to cherish every moment I had left of him. He was the first family dog i had. we put him down because he had a tumor. I came back home from school and even though I knew he was put down while I was at school and for some reason I still thought he was going to be there.

My mother told me that when she was 16, she asked my Nan if they could get a dog. The house was small and the garden was tiny but my Nan agreed to a little dog. My mother went to Battersea dogs home to rescue one. She came home with a St. Bernard because no one wanted him and he was unwell. Once the shock of having a small horse in the lounge wore off, they kept him. So glad they did.

This made me miss our Saint Bernards. 😭 They were such good boys. Our second Saint would blow out his undercoat like mad every spring. We would take him outside and brush him for an hour to keep it from getting all over the living room. At the end of the hour, it looked like there had been a snowstorm and the birds would come grab the fluff for their nests.
