I had a Saint named Bear growing up. He grew into a monster of a dog, but for the first year of his life, barked like a chihuahua. It was HILARIOUS. Had the highest pitched bark I'd ever heard from a Saint. Nothing was wrong with him, he was just... kinda squeaky LOL. Until one day his voice dropped and he finally got that good ol Saint voice! He was a big ol cuddle monster and when the call Saints "Nanny Dogs", they aren't kidding. He never minded anyone, young or old, curling up against him and chilling. He'd just sit or lie there and be your fluffy pillow. I miss the big lug.
I've had several Saints. They're amazingly stubborn, smart, and wonderful. None of mine were docile and had a bit of a fierce streak in them. They're independent thinkers and are territorial. Mine weren't heavy droolers--my mastiffs were worse. I agree that they aren't right for everyone. One of my Saints was an absolute genius. She called me "Mom Mom." She figured out how to roll trash barrels down the deck stairs to get the locked lids off in order to get to the goodies within. She always managed to open a locked chest which held treats, and she would wait until we were asleep to take action. She was just unbelievably intelligent. I recently got a collie and everyone told me how surprised I would be at her intelligence. No, I'm not, as I've never seen a dog smarter than that Saint. Sadly, she died at seven-years-old from bone cancer. I miss her every day.
Our saint only shed once per year. The shed started on 1/1 and was more or less finished by 12/31. Some periods are heavier but they shed ALL THE TIME!! The furminator comb was our 2nd best friend.
I have a Saint Bernard Great Pyrenees mix, she is 7 months almost and I continue to work on training her. She is so very smart, and catches on so fast - She can learn a new expectation within a day and stick with it, its incredible. She is very lovable, and of course our protector at home. But is so gentle and loving when out for our walks.
I have had a Saint since my first one at 18. I currently have my 6th Saint who is 6 months old. They are great dogs and have the best personalities. I know most don’t live long, but my first one lived 13 years and I had 2 live to 12. I can’t be without that drooling, messy giant!❤️
We adopted a St. B/Border Collie mix recently from a relative who passed away. Millie is a sweet, sweet, calm and docile 7 years old, about 60 lbs and would be overweight if she got any bigger. And now I understamd the stubbornness!! That's her! But very attentive to me and devoted, watches me out the window as I leave for a task or job, and again when I come home. ALWAYS comes to the door when I come home, and stays by my chair most of the day. Gets along great with our 10 yr old rough collie (a large 90 lbs lassie boy!). A precious addition to our family.
My first was a mix of German shepherd, Rottweiler and St. Bernard as a child. Mom brought Bear home for me. That was over 25 years ago. Just recently got a rescue pure bread. She's amazing.
I never had one, but I am old enough to have seen one doing what they were created for: it belonged to a mountain hostel in the Italian Alps, above the town of Ortisei. I haven't heard of him actually saving anyone, and he mostly spent his time being petted by tourists, but he was there just in case.
Jennifer Jean (JJ) has been our 145 Lb sweet girl St B for almost 8 years. She is VERY clingy and follows us from room to room. Just a big lovey girl that has been a wonderful family member.
I picked up a tiny St. Berndoodle in November. He now weighs 126 pounds. I do not need any heat in my bedroom. A thin blanket and the giant dog keeps the whole room warm. Big Poops to shovel twice a month.
What? Hehe, I love my happy Saint. He's also named Bear. In my profile photo here, he's still a "teenager". He is bigger today. Regarding health and hygiene, atopic dermatitis is no joke. Solved it, moved him to the mountains, hehe.
I'm getting my first St. Bernard puppy in a few weeks. He will be 10-12 weeks old when I get him. I'm welcome to any and all advice, especially on training tips.
MY WIFE AND I JUST GOT OUR FEMALE SHORT HAIR. SHE'S A REAL DOLL. ONLY ISSUE IS SHE HAS MORE ENERGY THAN WE DO.😂😂😂 SHES WORTH THE TIME WE HAVE TO USE FOR TRAINING. LOVE HER
I have to say you are wrong about one thing. I have a female st Bernard and she does not drool. She is full blooded saint. I've been called a liar even after they meet her. Just say most saints drool. Molly is the best dog ever.
Approached by a lady in petco, asked me if my St Bernard puppy was a wet mouth or dry mouth. Never hearing the term before I couldn’t answer. But my puppy is 3 months and she drools. So I’m guessing wet mouth
Same I just rescued one a short hair female, the drool is pretty much non existent! It’s a pure breed as well! She doesn’t even droll while I’m eating she sits next to me calm and respectful! Which I do not consider begging!
I have an 11 week old puppy. Ella Reid . She is very calm and good so far but easily distracted . But I assume with consistency and love/praise she will be a more amazing girl ❤
Stubborn yes. Loves children. Great with new dogs. 2 cups dryfood in morning and 2 cups at dinner. Doesn.t bark unless it wants out or asking for something. People love them. They loe chewing on sticks. Funny personality. Loves attention. Hates squirrels. Loves car rides.
Prince was our St Bernard dog ; friendly, gentle, playful and protective. The Summer heat combined with a brisk run resulted in heat stroke. I share this story as a reminder to other St Bernard owners ; keep the hose nearby ; use as necessary.
They aren’t unhealthy like most people breeds. Maybe in the 90s. My Saint has had way less issues than our GSD growing up or my parents Golden. Look at the French bulldogs and whatever other designer breed is in at the current moment.
NO dog breed should be left to live outside alone - that is totally against their nature and a form of mental cruelty! They aren't solitary animals in nature! That would be the case with most wild cats, but not dogs/ wolves.
I have a saint he does not drool but he doesn’t like strangers on his walks and can be aggressive if anyone have any tips about it or have similar problem please share 😊
My daughter rescued a 6 Year old male half breed St Bernard. He was neglected and left to run on the streets and he had a horrible yeast infection that has taken six weeks to get under control. He is still itching and has a couple of hot spots and I'm wondering how to take care of those without having to go back to the vet. He is one of the sweetest and smartest dogs I have ever met and I'm so grateful that my daughter gave him to me. I am handicapped and use a walker and we are trying to train him on how to walk with me using my walker
I currently have a female Saint and a Newfy Saint male. The female is our 5th St. Bernard and she will only drool in the very hottest weather after she has had a big drink of water. All of our other SAints were like having a portable leaky faucet walking around the house, the newfy Saint mix is the worst of them all.
Hello! We just recently got a Saint Bernard puppy, can you recommend any vitamins or supplements that we can give him to help him grow strong healthy bones, and maintain healthy skin?’
Not true!! I live in Tampa, FL and we are currently owned by our sixth Saint his name is Boo Boo Bear and our breeder is in fact a Florida breeder about 70 miles southeast of us. Boo Boo is our third Saint down here. Of course we don't leave him outside and because of the heat I get up while it is still dark outside and we walk for about an hour each morning. Out of the six we have been blessed to have Boo Boo is the most rambunctious and slobbery of them all, but we love him as much as we have loved all our boys. Saints are wonderful outgoing dogs he loves all my neighbors even all the wild life. They live large which is great as the lifespan is not long although I am happy to say ALL of our Saints have lived longer than expected. If you are willing to do just a few small things for them you will be able to keep them in a hot and humid climate. My .02
I'd say yes they are great with kids, but make sure you do more research. Since they are larger dog breed they need a lot of space, grooming and making sure the dog stays cool if you live in a hotter climate.
One thing she said was wrong I had a dry mouth saint she lived tell she was like 15 she didn't droll she did get some when she was hot and drinking water
Mine were dry mouth too, but I think what she was getting at is that unethical breeders will lie and claim theirs are "dry mouth Saints." The truth is, the heavier the jaws, the more they're going to drool.
I have a 155 lb Saint who is convinced he fits in my lap just like the Pomeranian.
I can’t imagine life without him.
Me too lol
lol I have a noisy puppy

She sounds amazing. So sorry for your loss. But I have to say she was lucky to have you. St Bernards are EXTREMELY MISUNDERSTOOD 🐶🐶❤❤
I have a St. Bernard/ German shepherd mix and he’s really something. He opens fridges and shelves with his snout. I’m sorry about your loss though.
Our saint only shed once per year. The shed started on 1/1 and was more or less finished by 12/31. Some periods are heavier but they shed ALL THE TIME!! The furminator comb was our 2nd best friend.

I have a 5 month old St Pyrenees and she is so intelligent and loving! She loves cuddles several times a day and has been so easy to train so far!
We love them ,we are on our 3rd ST. Great dogs, and good babysitters.
I have had a Saint since my first one at 18. I currently have my 6th Saint who is 6 months old. They are great dogs and have the best personalities. I know most don’t live long, but my first one lived 13 years and I had 2 live to 12. I can’t be without that drooling, messy giant!❤️

Bear got paid in cookies for this appearance. 😆
The cuddles and winter nights would be endless
I've had St B's for almost 40 years, with Klaus being the current beast. They are the best. Loved the history part of the show.
My first was a mix of German shepherd, Rottweiler and St. Bernard as a child.
Mom brought Bear home for me.
That was over 25 years ago.
Just recently got a rescue pure bread. She's amazing.

This is my new spirit animal
Haha aweee
We are planning to get one in the next couple months, so all these videos are very welcome.
Great dog you won’t regret it
Jennifer Jean (JJ) has been our 145 Lb sweet girl St B for almost 8 years. She is VERY clingy and follows us from room to room. Just a big lovey girl that has been a wonderful family member.
Love benards they great dogs. I got a 100 pounder and a 175 pound female. Both girls are great girls so different but the same
I have two beautiful saints Bernard, the long and short coats . They’re very intelligent but stubborn
I picked up a tiny St. Berndoodle in November. He now weighs 126 pounds. I do not need any heat in my bedroom. A thin blanket and the giant dog keeps the whole room warm. Big Poops to shovel twice a month.
You got there character right, my Daisy too is dirty and stubborn and incredibly loving and attention seeking 😊
What?

Omg my god that is so weird my St. Bernard Molly doesn’t drool either 🙈😂😂😂
Perhaps but my female didn’t drool much or at all til she got older like 6-7. Now even if she thinks of food, she’s dripping drool.
Approached by a lady in petco, asked me if my St Bernard puppy was a wet mouth or dry mouth. Never hearing the term before I couldn’t answer. But my puppy is 3 months and she drools. So I’m guessing wet mouth
My puppy willow is 7 Months and she doesn’t drool as much as others but gosh does she get messy with her water

Yes ! That’s so exciting! Follow me on Instagram and send me your puppy pics!
I’m an adorable 5 month old Saint Bernard! Hi!

Can we have a video on the healthiest dog breeds?
Poodles
Mutts.
They aren’t unhealthy like most people breeds. Maybe in the 90s. My Saint has had way less issues than our GSD growing up or my parents Golden.
Look at the French bulldogs and whatever other designer breed is in at the current moment.
I've always wanted a Saint Bernard since watching Cujo 😂😂😂 i think I'll start with a small breed before i get one of these ❤
Tko bih rekao da je betowen takav genij❤
NO dog breed should be left to live outside alone - that is totally against their nature and a form of mental cruelty! They aren't solitary animals in nature! That would be the case with most wild cats, but not dogs/ wolves.

Just got PeeWee, our 2nd Saint. My subscribers fall in love with the big babies!
Awe that’s ironic we have a chihuahua named PeeWee! It’s a great name
Lol “not for neat freaks” our house is constantly COVERED in “Darla glitter” aka St. Bernard fur and drool
Can Saint Bernard live in tropical temperatures?
We just got our baby girl in Jan her name is queen
Not sure about 180 Ibs as weight of these breed. Mine was slightly over 200 Ibs and the biggest I've seen was 286 Ibs. These dogs are HUGE.
Cutest thing I saw was a Saint Barnard was a confused one, he couldn’t understand why a new born couldn’t throw a ball.
no no you are wrong this not bear , it's big size polar bear 😂😂😂😂😂😍😍😍😍
I currently have a female Saint and a Newfy Saint male. The female is our 5th St. Bernard and she will only drool in the very hottest weather after she has had a big drink of water. I just got a Saint Bernard today is it normal for their coat to start off black and white
Hello! We just recently got a Saint Bernard puppy, can you recommend any vitamins or supplements that we can give him to help him grow strong healthy bones, and maintain healthy skin?’
Hey! First 2 years just feed them dog food! At around 3yr you can start glucosamine and fish oils for joints. I hope this helps!
i would like to learn how to walk a Saint bernard
I've had 6 Saints in my life and in my experience, you don't walk the Saint, the Saint walks YOU.
Infinite disappointment when I realize I live in a hot humid climate year round, and could probably not own a St Bernard properly.
Not true!! I live in Tampa, FL and we are currently owned by our sixth Saint his name is Boo Boo Bear and our breeder is in fact a Florida breeder about 70 miles southeast of us. My vet doc said don't bath her every day
One thing she said was wrong I had a dry mouth saint she lived tell she was like 15 she didn't droll she did get some when she was hot and drinking water
Mine were dry mouth too, but I think what she was getting at is that unethical breeders will lie and claim theirs are "dry mouth Saints." The truth is, the heavier the jaws, the more they're going to drool.
So they shouldn’t be left outside, but they lived in the alps on snow. 👍 😂😂😂
Meeru local street dogs with all sort of diseases n cunningnes infact ur not dogs wolves snakes ...

I was actually surprised how uninformative this was
