15-20 years ago, when I was in vet school, I heard this from Cesar: "I am training humas and reabilitating dogs....". Since then I have been training humans to be good vets and enjoing the odd patiants that nobody wants to examine, as they do not understand their behaiviour (not even try to understand). Thank you Cesar for giving me what the vet school did not offer me, and still does not includ in the curriculum: true practical leadership skills, not just theory.

People need that realization that they're making mistakes, but that doesn't mean that they're bad. Or even the dog. Having your dog love you that much that it realizes you aren't strong enough to defend yourself and it wants to keep you safe at all costs should be a heart warming thing! That's love!! And that is a great foundation to start building upon and making the necessary corrections. Love dogs ❤

Finally a normal response. “My kids come first”. We have cats and a dog….but they are animals. Sure we love them and my sweet cat cuddles with me at night but good grief my kids come first.
People started treating their animals like people.. I don’t have a problem with dressing up your dog or pampering them but my goodness people need to put the brakes on a little bit sometimes.
I love that Cesar always makes that distinction. They are animals and they come after humans.
I was talking about this to someone and they asked me if I’d ever lost a pet. Yeah I have but in 2014 our nine-year-old daughter went to heaven. If anyone ever tries to compare the loss of an animal to the loss of my child…..They have the wrong emotions towards animals.
I’ve never met a mom or a dad who has walked through child loss and compared that loss to an animal. I’m not saying they don’t exist but good grief.
That’s the whole point of being a pack leader and actually leading your dogs in the right way of behaving. Dogs behave badly because their pack leaders. don’t know how to teach them otherwise.
Ironically, Parents can also teach bad behavior to kids without leading them comparing the two is something that my brain cannot comprehend.
People have said maybe we didn’t have close relationships with our pets and so we don’t understand. After our daughter passed away, her seizure dog was still around and a couple years later she passed away. Was it sad? Absolutely and yeah, there were tears. But it was more so the loss of another piece of my daughter.
    They are not the same.

    • @rage_of_aquarius
      @rage_of_aquarius 4 месяца назад +4

Maybe, but there's a huge difference between rehoming a dog that needs more leadership because you can't prioritize them, and what way too many people do, which is to slaughter or abandon their dog because they're too weak and irresponsible to give them the proper leadership. Both are technically examples of someone prioritizing their human children, but at the end of the day, if you can only give guidance to your kids and don't have the bandwidth to be a pack leader, just do the kind thing and wait to get a dog until your kids aren't prey animals.
Also, I think the tragedy of loss is specifically different because of the natural order of things. Even back when we were nomadic hunter-gatherers our children were meant to outlive us, whereas our dogs come into our lives as temporary partners with extremely limited lifespans. It's a deal we agree to when we take an animal into our lives that one day we'll lose them (except maybe parrots) but nobody ever expects to outlive their child.
Anyway, I'm sorry for your loss.

I'm really sorry about your daughter. I lost stillborn twins, as well as two other stillbirths and a number of miscarriages, Heaven came through with one child eventually. And she demanded a dog. Which her father bought her when she was 5 and they grew up together. Eventually tho, time came for Junior and he went. The pain was from the time we all spent as a family, the loss is still palpable.
      I bow before your loss.

i get what you're saying, however, this way of thinking is what has caused so much animal abuse, and suffering, the meat industry is the 3rd cause of global warming... until we see animals are equals, give them their rights and learn to live with them in balance, we will not have to choose between our kids and our pets... that's what i don't have pets, i refuse to be part of the craziness of having an unbalanced relationship with an animal, cuz i consider them my equals, i don't have pets, i don't eat their meat or buy things tested on them...

I met a rescue dog on a remote walk in Scotland in July! Immediately the owners warned us off - "she bites"! Their fear sparked her off growling/barking! I stayed back explained pack mentality! Got the owners in a calm state, then asked them to keep a loose lead. The beautiful girl settled & I took the lead. Told the owners to sit - stay! Then took her as pack leader for a loop walk in the owners vision! No pulling, biting, no aggression! I've had dogs for 53yrs & train them. After the walk she layed down & showed her belly! Owners were amazed. So, I said "walk with me!" I'll show you how to lead! What a lovely experience, they said they couldn't walk her in town & were about to return her! Referred them to this channel as I live 5 hrs away & couldn't personally train them. Usual problem - humans!

Cesar is truly one of the best dog trainers in the world. He really knows the mind and psychology behind dogs and their behaviour. Other dog trainers may think he has harsh methods sometimes, but then again… it’s dogs we talk about, and in the world of dogs there is nothing like “ nice methods”. Dog-world is harsh and a fine line between death, life and injurys. There is no dogs thinking “we will foster this puppy nice” or letting mistakes slip. To foster and raise dogs we gotta think like dogs as well and treat them like animals not like human kids

Hello Cesar, I always appreciate your work! I have learned many things over the years and greatly appreciate it! However, a friend of mine has a situation with her dogs that I have never seen before and she (and I) is really at her wits end! It is a case of Red Zone attacks between two specific dogs. These dogs do not seem to have any problems with other dogs or people! If they ever gain access to each other they go totally vicious with each other. One dog has been injured to the point that she lost one of her front legs. They are both female dogs who used to have a dominant female who sometime ago died. They were separated for a short time but ever since coming back together they seem to want to kill each other at any moment! I have never been afraid of dogs that i have been introduced to, but trying to separate these dogs is not even safe for the owner, who I can say has a very close and balanced connection with all of her four beautiful dogs! Nothing seems to make bit of difference. I’m telling her that she will have to give away one of the dogs or they will just continue to injure each other. I was thinking of using a pair of heavy welding gloves to try to control and submit both dogs at the same time. Honestly I’m not confident that I could pull that off! Please help with anyway suggestions that you may have!?!? On behalf of Gena’s pack in North Carolina…

"When you identify the people who are the problem and remove them, you remove the problem" wow I can't believe that Cesar just dropped that wisdom in here. I have been saying this for so long after so many situations where there are individuals who keep causing problems but it's never addressed until someone reacts poorly and then suddenly it's the person reacting to the problem who's blame instead of the instigators

I’ve never seen a St. Bernard attack like this. I had one and he was the most gentle thing ever I took him everywhere him and my little Chiweenie. It was big and little. They went everywhere with me cute. He is no longer here with me. He was killed while I was walking him run over by a drunk driver, and they didn’t stop and that broke my heart

Yrs ago, my husband would come home from work & we had 3 or 4 GSD's right at the gate. He'd get frustrated. I tought him to 'no touch, no eye contact, no talk'. Just walk through them all. Dogs had to wait to be greeted when husband said so. I've been breeding & training most of my life & avoided fear of other dogs attacking mine. Now, I am assertive towards any dog who seems aggressive towards mine. Blocking comes in handy & we don't avoid that action from another's dog. I address it. Now 77, I still have a wonderful visit with other people's dogs to help that handler to allow our dogs meet & greet without fear. The handler is a amazed their dog greeted well & my GSD didn't eat their dog, lol! Cricket is very popular in our community. Lots of tips from Cesar through out the years, thank you! I would love Cesar to get a visit moment with Cricket.

If more dog owners would simply try a " Halti head halter" you would be surprised at the fun you'll have walking your dog. I see so many people who can't walk their dogs but believe me the head halter will make you a believer. I have a Saint Bernard mix and "Sully " wears a miniature horse halter, works like a charm.
