the data you generate and the way you present it is exactly what everyone should look for if in the market for new weapons.... you are a dream for anyone who is responsible for marketing any brand of club.... your somewhat of a robot and your consistency is godmode......i want to be like you hahahal.... great info as always...
A really helpful review, swinging at ‘normal’ speeds so us mere mortals can relate to the information is awesome, so thanks. I also think your high and low speed tests are also great as it helps people see the point these clubs don’t work! A great review. I’ve cobra at the top of my bag (Speedzone and Ltdx ) and at the bottom (60 deg pur-s) and looking to update the middle of the bag, these look a great option. A great assessment, thanks.
I like the finish and the shape very much. I don't like black irons, but this is more of a gray/brown, which is nice. The back badge is not for me - too busy. They remind me of a fattened version of my old Cleveland TA-3s.
Apart from the super strong lofts which really are just a number and it should really be what loft someone is hitting rather than what numbered iron, so without that ideology to reason with these are possibly one of the best 2024 irons or at least they will be at the top end of the list 👍🏻
I went to buy the Taylormade Stealth today, but the 5 iron was flimsy, I thought and inspired no confidence…..these had less offset and sat well behind the balll……but still I am looking at TM P-790s. Thoughts? I tend to hit 175 -180 yards with my old Callaway x 22 ions with 105gram shafts……15 years old…I am 64 years old, still using 65 g driver or 60g driver and hitting it 235-260……sometimes a little further in the summer when I am lose and confident
😊 I could, although the DARKSpeed Irons are irons and the Eleven Hybrids are well hybrids and it wouldn't be a fair fight. The Eleven Hybrids would be more forgiving, more helpful in flight etc etc. You can't get away from physics 👍🏻
@@AskGolfNut Agree 100%. However, until someone does the direct comparison between the Elevens and any game improvement iron and shows/explains the difference in the numbers most will overlook them. Btw...I am an Eleven fanboy all thanks to you!!! I love them!!!
I second the request for an Elevens to Irons Comparison. I’m currently taking lessons once per week and have a 7 iron swing speed around 77-79mph. I struggle to find anything that will give me a distance from 160-200 yards. Currently go from 7 iron to 9W, 7W, 5W, 3W but have a difficult time consistently hitting my 5W and 3W well. I’m a 16 hcp and par 5s each my lunch because my drive is 220yards on a good day. Any suggestions as far as the longest clubs you like?
Very interesting video. Thank you for making this. Can you list the shaft name/flex used in the video? Was the shaft standard length in this video? Was the club head standard lie? I'd like to get the complete picture. Many thanks in advance.
Seems like new GI clubs are popping everywhere. Taylormade Qi irons, Callaway AI Smoke irons, and now Cobra Darkspeed. Have you looked at the TM or Callaway offerings in comparison to the Cobras?
The sleeping question, One Length? I've been using Forged Tech one length irons for about 5 years and love the consistent swing you achieve from one length. Being 65 my swing has slowed and I am looking for some length. Thoughts?
That's the trade off for one length iron, you give up some club head speed in the longer irons for improved strike pattern. To keep the one length and try and get some speed back would be to go lighter shafts all one length. There's also nothing stopping you have a one length set that is 0.5" inches longer.
Thanks for the video 👍 I previously had the Cobra S3 irons from around 2010 or so, but moved on from them a few years back. Would this be the current iteration of those S3's? Personally for me, the S3 waa fantastic to hit but just too large to look at, and too much offset. These appear to be a touch sleeker. Cheers.
Two questions, these are just "upgraded" from the Aerojet? Then if I hit 7 with good distance and club head speed already (decent contact and control), should I be looking to the King Forged or even Tour family? Great reviews! TIA
Yes I would say so. Really the only reason someone should look to Game Improvement irons is that they either need the help with Launch and Ball Speed from the springy faces or the added Forgiveness from the larger more tech driven head. If you are a golfer that swings it fast enough and has decent strike control then you would naturally gravitate to the more Player type heads 👍
You can get them custom fit as 2 degrees weaker, would that help with someone with a slower swing speed, or is there no point getting these in those circumstances?
That may well be a good avenue if during your custom fit the angles were a touch border line. Tweak by half a club will bring the peak height and descent angles up a touch more should your speed or delivery of the club need it 👍🏻
I looked at the standard specs and found them to be a strange combination of being upright and short (if one compares to other iron sets and always looks at an iron with similar loft, regardless of the number). Did you test them in these standard specs or did you have them flattened?
I'm a 2 cap weakest part if game is my miss irons is thin. Can you name a go to iron for thin misses?? I loved the I 525 except thin misses were some of the worst I've seen..I don't want to make another 1500$ mistake.
mmmmm these with a graphite KBS PGI 75 regular shaft and a midsize grip with 2 wraps YES PLEASE whats your thought about these vs the stealth irons from last year ? Thx Jay cheers from Canada
Distance will be very similar but the DARKSpeed has a very slight advantage in forgiveness. The Forged Tec X is more for someone wanting to work their way into the Forged range where the DARKSpeed is for the golfer that just wants maximum help 👍🏻
I think personally it's a form of testing that greatly adheres itself to golfers needs as there are plenty of videos showing how a club works in the hands of a fast swinging reviewer but that it quite difficult for every other golfer to assume how it would work for them. Thanks for the kind feedback 👍🏻
Whoever came up with this jacked up lofts in irons is a fool. Who is this helping? I couldn’t hit my old 4iron and the 5 was hard. Now with these jacked lofts I can’t hit my 5 and my 6 is harder. Now modern sets are Driver, 4H,5H,6,7,8,9,PW,Gap,52,56,60.
Immediate reaction on the look of the iron, hate it. Way too much going on on the back of the club, I had hoped Cobra had got over using the back of the club as an advertising billboard but it seems they have not. The finish of the club though does partially redeem it. Performance wise, there are a few problems. Probably OK for the average swing speed but for slow swing speed non-functional at anything longer than a 7i , possibly anything longer than the 8i - for swing speed players I would want irons which are functional down to a 6i. For fast swing speed there does appear to be the potential for gapping issues which probably would not be picked up in a typical fitting. Sorry Cobra, but this looks like one to miss
In true terms it would be very much identical. They are an update. They look much better with the enclosed look rather than having a deep cavity and also with the dark look merging with the rest of the range, it's an impressive lineup. Performance wise I wouldn't say anyone with Aerojets needs to run out an buy the DARKSpeed unless they have the spare cash and they really like the new range. Thanks for the comment and for watching 👍🏻

*I see that in 2024 ALL brand companies stepped up SO much and made everything forgiving as hell.*

Thanks for swinging like the majority of us so we can really relate.
Just got fitted for a set. can't wait to get out with them and play
i have to stay the forgivness is amazing (6.24). Im a weekend hacker nad not really intrested in training. This is gold for me and likes!
Terrific information! Thank you so much.
Great clubs and analysis, thanks!
they sound great for a hollow bodied iron big plus
Really good review, J. I'm a senior and I'm playing the Callaway Apex21 DCB but I need more distance. This my be the 1.
I have always liked Cobra, these look fantastic.
For a Game Improvement Iron they have to be one of my favourite dark irons to date 👍
I think the entire darkspeed line is the sleeper of the year. Amazing stuff. Best looking too
Making them in the dark finish was, I think, a genius move for Cobra 👍🏻
I like the finish and the shape very much. I don't like black irons, but this is more of a gray/brown, which is nice. The back badge is not for me - too busy. They remind me of a fattened version of my old Cleveland TA-3s.
What a great video! Thanks!
Really nice looking clubs, seem to perform well too. Perhaps my next upgrade. 👍⛳️
Did you end up getting the dark speed irons? How did they perform for you?
Wonderful review extremely well explained and great looking irons. Could these be the surprise of 2024?
Apart from the super strong lofts which really are just a number and it should really be what loft someone is hitting rather than what numbered iron, so without that ideology to reason with these are possibly one of the best 2024 irons or at least they will be at the top end of the list 👍🏻
Curious what the numbers would be with a two piece, three piece and four piece X ball. Thanks for the slow speed numbers. Very helpful! Greta job!
VERY thorough and informative review! Thanks.
looking at new clubs and ran into your page. Like the review!
Glad you like the review, mine are a bit more in depth and data driven than most, so glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏻

Great review! You gave these high praise. I would love to see you compare these against the Eleven "hybrid, iron, hybrid, you know what I mean."

I play Cobra F9 irons and really like them, but I think they missed on the looks here. Reminds me of Cleveland Launcher XL (non-Halo)
They’re gorgeous. And they will be mine next week. 😉

Not as yet, I've been flat out trying to get all the reviews so far done. Still got more to do and will release as soon as possible 👍🏻👍🏻

what clubS ARE smaller darkspeed or g430 irons?..thanks
I looked at the standard specs and found them to be a strange combination of being upright and short (if one compares to other iron sets and always looks at an iron with similar loft, regardless of the number). Did you test them in these standard specs or did you have them flattened?
All tested in standard specs which actually works quite well as I generally prefer a slightly more Upright lie than normal Std specs come in 👍🏻

The new 243 and especially 245 are super from thin strikes. At 2 Hcp the chances are that 243 would be the better choice 👍🏻
mmmmm these with a graphite KBS PGI 75 regular shaft and a midsize grip with 2 wraps YES PLEASE whats your thought about these vs the stealth irons from last year ? Thx Jay cheers from Canada
Hopefully do some form of comparison soon, I have so many on a list to get through.....
I really like the look of these. Question, are they one length? I don't know how tall you are but they look short when you hit them?
I think they come in both options, standard length with custom options and one length option also 👍🏻
@@AskGolfNut Thank you so much for replying. I'm def gonna try these out this year.
Should I buy cobra Aerojet with discount 40% off msrp or these at full price msrp?
If you can get them both custom fitted to your requirements, then I'd go Aerojet to be honest, unless you really like the dark look 👍🏻
How do these compare to the Forged Tec X for distance and forgiveness?

Agree - pity as I liked everything else with this club

Ugh. The back of that club is hideous.
