I daily drive (most days) my E46 M3 and love it. Came from a manual E61 that was tuned and was faster, but the E46 just makes me want to drive it all the time. It's a convertible, and with a full exhaust it sounds fantastic. I also have snow tires, a hard top, and a ski box for the winter, and it's a blast in the snow too. My previous E90 335i6 was an awesome car and the interior was definitely more modern and nicer (and it had less of a 90s-esque on-center steering dead spot than the E46... hoping to do a Z3 rack swap to fix that), but the E46 just has a classic appeal that the E9X doesn't. I think it's the Goldilocks of the M3 range, but I'm biased :)

Love that yall are using the side shop. But it definitely needs an aesthetic upgrade. Maybe some banners or a mural on the back/side wall would be dope!
My favorites are E30, E36 and E46 (in no particular order). I still have my '03 E46 with 180K miles on it. Still runs great and is still one of the most fun cars to drive. It's also a HUGE myth that these cars are "expensive to fix" or "hard to work on". Just do your regular maintenance and keep track of "known" issues and the car will outlast you. They're also much easier to work on than many other cars. These engine compartments were built in a modular fashion. Parts come off in a sequence and go back on in a sequence and all of the connections are polarized so you almost literally can't connect something wrong, unless you force it to.
Our opinion is: for us the best and cheapest to operate is the E92 M-Sport models, low maintenance, hydraulic steering outrageous feeling with the road talking to the driver. That analog feeling of a real driving experience. There's no comparison at all. Better handling around corners and driving all the oldest to the newest, our opinion is still the the modes from 2009 2010 E92 M-sport cars. The best of both worlds without the technology prices. Just pure ultimate driving machine experience. BMW owners and enthusiasts forever..!
I love BMWs especially the M-lines!!! I'm a long time JDM owner, 370z, WRX bug eyes, Supra Mk3s, FR-S, BR-Z, G35 coupes, TL-Type S, and Lexus ISF name it I had it. I have since converted to the BMW 340i and BMW e92 335i and have not looked back since!
I hated the over sized grills at first, but then it somehow grew on me, but the options to make it smaller is really great. So far, the G82 is my favorite in manual of course
E90-E92 my absolute favorite. I should’ve bought one. I was soooo close but the common issues drove me to buy an ISF for reliability purposes. Still a win imho. Definitely do more of these videos though. 🤘

The manual heater controls are for the vents blowing on your face. You can set the cabin at 22ºc, which is what 70ºf, but you can then adjust the blowers on your face, so in winter you don't have hot air blowing on you and in summer you don't have ice cold air blowing on you. BMW have been doing this for decades and is the one thing I really miss when jumping in other cars. Set to 69ºf when I get the car and never touch anything other than that blue-red dial again.

Sounds like you have never driven any. If you did you would get it. Name another car that regular people can afford used with this much performance. to this day RIGHT NOW e36 still being used for racing.. Think about that. Aside from BMW Miata for racing. Then obviously big boi leagues Porsche.
I own a 2018 F82 manual in Yas Marina and the car is just gorgeous. Had it for nearly 7 years with zero issue. Still turn my head to look back after parking it. Its that beautiful.
The E92 M3 is probably my fave, followed by the E46, then E30. The E92 was the last great M3, in my opinion. After the E9X models, they just got too techy and modern. More computer than machine. The E9X still feels like a race machine to me. Not that the F8X and G8X models aren't amazing and completely respectable, I just like the older models, which is why I own one....and possibly might make it two soon haha
I think the questions to be answered are, what M3 is the best buy today in terms of value per dollar, what M3 so far will be the true icon, beyond the E30, and what M3 did BMW really hit the mark in terms of styling/performance (relative to the era it was from)/long term appeal? This video raised more questions than it attempted to answer imo.
The E30 needs the original screaming 4 pot, for the proper experience. The E36 was modded a lot too, so not really a good indication of an M3. Great video though, and I actually love the E36 which seems to be the runt of the litter. Of course, we got the full fat version here in the UK, with 286bhp for the early 3litre version, to 321bhp for the later 3.2litre. The E46 was modded too. Really, they need to be standard cars to do a video like this.
G80 is a beautiful car on the inside and from the rear. I still cannot get over the bucktooth grill. BMW killed it for me on the g80 solely on the grill. E46 is the most pure M3
Did you hear that E92 M3? Did you see their smile once they opened up those ITBs? Real engine sound. Real exhaust sound. Would love an E30, E36 or E46 also. Nice review.
@@Thacardoctor you're right it is a benchmark car and I would love to have an F80 M3. I'm going off what they said at the end of the video for build recommendations. I have never seen them do an Alfa Romeo Giulia build.
I liked this video format and style idc if people say your coping donut media. Everyone is coping everyone’s content on the internet it’s just how it goes. Definitely do every generation of corvette and I know it’s not popular but I’d love to see one on Audi s4s too
Very nice comparison and talk about each generation. As you said in the end, you can't go wrong with any M3, they are all good cars, maybe some are more reliable than others, but it's a lot about the Maintenace. If you take care and care for your car, it will be reliable, or at least more reliable than if you don't. I had a E36 M3 for track use, well I did use it for roads too, but it was stiff and upgraded for the track, and it was a fun car, and very honest, you felt it when it started to lose grip and you had time to do something about it before you lost control and ended beside the track. Modern cars tend to erase that feeling in a way of being more comfortable. Good or bad depends on what you use it for. After all most people use their cars as a daily and then comfort is more in Favour. What I did miss is a summery in the end, a picture of them all together side by side, where you highlight the best parts of each and maybe weaknesses, what to think about if you plan on buying one, since you probably know them all. Overall, a very nice video and as always Quinn tops it off with his enormous knowledge and pedagogic way of presenting it. (All you guys at Throtl are great in your own ways, but I think personally, Quinn stands out a little bit more and are very knowledgeable and educational to listening to). Just love the show.
I like the E46 guy. Went minimalistic and the single exit exhaust makes it sound great, which is rare. That is super tasteful for an already great design. All the quad pipe cars need to go down to 2. Looks ridiculous and adds bulk to already fat and busy rear ends. Wheels on the F80 are fire. Great design on those. I like them all up to the F80 except for the added mass which I would lose as a first mod. My favourite M3 is still the 1M though.
At first I hated the buck teeth grill, but like it is definitely growing on me now that it's been a few months, I still like the look of the F8x generation more, but the G is definitely nice too
Funny watching younger generations talk about how cars are in the 80’s… The E30 was a legend even then.. was expensive and had a four cylinder which back then was not necessarily an upgrade.. different time.. I remember seeing the 190 Merc 2.3 16V German man in NYC very rare also had some version of a G wagon..944 was a car we listed after also.. (year reference 1988 NYC driving 944 to graduation class picture) E36 DTM front is lower in front axle Cars were rough unless is was a big American or S Class.. lot of fun cars not spoken about much is the GTI and in NY people would mod the felicia and Mitsubishi Starion .. wide fenders

Really, they need to be standard cars to do a video like this.
love the BMW content lately, keep it up!
G80 is a beautiful car on the inside and from the rear. I still cannot get over the bucktooth grill. BMW killed it for me on the g80 solely on the grill. E46 is the most pure M3
All Gen of Mustangs Please!!
Did you hear that E92 M3? Did you see their smile once they opened up those ITBs? Real engine sound. Real exhaust sound. Would love an E30, E36 or E46 also. Nice review.
To the ones seaking for an e46. The 330ci is the sweet spot! Supercharge it and you'll even get more than e46 m3 hp figures.
Only problem with single hump E9X M3 is the iDrive is the primary interface with the OBC.
I hated the G80 Grille for a long time and just recently started to come around. I kind of like them now.
❤ it…. He said “ok Fiat”….😂😂
Do a build with an Alfa Romeo Giulia. Doesn't even need to be the Quad.
Alfa Romeo Giuliano’s are great, just remember the BMW M3 has ALWAYS been the benchmark car 😎
yes bruhhhhh, GTAM Build
@@Thacardoctor you're right it is a benchmark car and I would love to have an F80 M3. I'm going off what they said at the end of the video for build recommendations. I have never seen them do an Alfa Romeo Giulia build.
@@Thacardoctorhave you driven an Alfa Giulia Quad? They’re incredible.
I haven’t driven one properly yet, just around in a parking lot. I heard great things about them. I gotta drive one
I liked this video format and style idc if people say your coping donut media. Everyone is coping everyone’s content on the internet it’s just how it goes. Definitely do every generation of corvette and I know it’s not popular but I’d love to see one on Audi s4s too
F80 S55engine the Best ever made.
E30 M3. E39 M5. Best looking Beemers by far. Imo.
E36 and f80 all the way for me!!!!
At first I hated the buck teeth grill, but like it is definitely growing on me now that it's been a few months, I still like the look of the F8x generation more, but the G is definitely nice too
The grill’s cool 😊
The f80 is by far the best m3. By alot
(year reference 1988 NYC driving 944 to graduation class picture) E36 DTM front is lower in front axle
Cars were rough unless is was a big American or S Class.. lot of fun cars not spoken about much is the GTI and in NY people would mod the felicia and Mitsubishi Starion .. wide fenders
If i had the money, i would take the M3
F80 still the best m3 for me
Wish I saw this video earlier and won the f80, I just love the f80 m3❤❤
