My dad raced e30 m3s when they first came out (late 80s, I think 89 was when he was first introduced). Went through about 2-3 of them, and currently had one when his friend blew the motor in his. Truly, this is a masterclass in how to make documentaries. Every video is fantastic, and each one is just a little bit better than the last. Up to date, this is the M3 of The Squidd's documentaries.
This. This is the single greatest documentary on a vehicle ever made. The narration, the content, the subject matter, everything about this is perfect. As someone who makes automotive media for a living, this really is one of the best pieces ive ever seen. This kept me on the edge of my seat the entire length of the video, regardless of the fact that I know this story through and through. Hell, i have an e30 M3 tattooed on me. Yet somehow, I was so amped up, like this was the first time I'd heard this story. Multi-million dollar production companies cant emulate what this channel does, let alone compare. Thank you squidd, for this gem of automotive history.
I love how he starts with a dramatic analogy, then tells the whole story as a climax. Just epic, and still serious. Is a kind of "documentary" (if i can call it that) that has become less and less common over the years. My respect and subscription to you (well deserved)
My first car is an e30, i bought it when i was 15, i'm 18 now and i just got my license, I haven't driven a car that feels like the e30, the way it wants to rev and go , hug the road and tell you every detail through the steering.I have the tiny m40 1.6L engine , it hates highways , but it comes alive on twisty roads, always asking for more, i love it. Thank you for making this video, you're always 110% into your work as always, unbelivable content!
9 years ago I bought my first car at age 16, an E30 325is. At the time I didn't realize the motorsports history behind the E30 and the M3. After learning about it, I appreciated my car that much more. Although not an M3, it is now a heavily modified car, now with an LS engine and completely redone suspension and brakes. It is my first car and I will never sell it. I've learned so much about driving and building a car through my E30. Having such a legendary car and having lots of sentimental value to me, I don't have the heart to ever get rid of it.
The imagery you use to describe the BMW badge is beautiful, but to anyone reading this *spoilers* it isn't why the BMW badge is what it is. The BMW badge has the colours of the coat of arms of Bavaria. You know, "Bayerische" Motoren Werke.

Idk how u make this scripts, it's absolute poetry every time. Every video you have me in tears of how amazing this videos are. The quotes, the music and background. Everything builds up perfectly as if Mozart was directing a masterpiece
I drove one of the BMW E30s when it was introduced. Pretty raw indeed. Later I experienced the E36 and it was a poster on my bedroom wall. Today's M3, however, seems to have lost the plot. Too big, too heavy, relying on an outrageously powerful engine to make its mark. And ugly to boot.
The voice of you , the tone you use , the editing , the small references, the punchlines , the audio , the nostalgia, somehow you are able to find the perfect picture/video that matches what you say. The way you explain things in such an understanding way for some us to grasp. This may all be a product of you or an editor but nothing changes the fact that the way you make you videos Is perfect and brings a state of tranquility to me ,if that makes any sense. The only mistake? The uploading schedule 😅. Good work , I envy you passion and dedication to your videos, keep it up.

2:09 while the imagery of a propeller against a blue sky is poetic, the origin also goes back much further than that. Blue and white is quintessentially Bavarian-the ‘B’ in ‘BMW’. It’s the Bavarian flag which predates all planes.

Excellent job with this. It wasn't really mentioned, but these cars were not runaway sales champs, at least not in the US. Prospective buyers saw the option to buy the 6-cylinder E30 325is for less money ($28,400 vs $34,000 for an M3), and those unaware of the massive differences in the cars often went that direction (because of the cost savings and more cylinders must be better, right?) Many E30 M3's languished on dealership lots.

Manufacturers knew that people wanted to see a car win at the track and be able to go buy it long before the E30 M3. As much as I pains me to say, NASCAR was doing this for American manufacturers decades before the E30 was dreamed of. “What wins on Sunday, sells on Monday” used to be the saying. Awesome episode though. I do love some vintage German cars.
The car videos you make are totally awesome! Yes & your countrymen also have a BMW factory to tour. I just can't justify the service/maintenance costs under warranty period for BMW here in Australia. I'm not joking here........... My friend's 2020 Ferrari Roma is EQUAL annual service cost to a BMW M3 here.

The fact that you only have 100k subs is criminal. ever since your first video it was obvious you meant business. Most smaller channels don't even have a name for themselves but you came out making content worth millions. Your editing was great, the presentation fantastic and you even had your own logo. Truly a channel as spectacular as the vehicles you shine the light on.
Thanks CJ! I've been called the Squidd since I was like 12 so it's been pretty easy to have a brand identity for sure. Glad you've enjoyed the content so far! I still can't believe I've got as many subs as I do!
@@the.squidd smart and humble. The world needs more of this.
He's got 1 more now
Agreed. I found this gem with literally 10K subs and my jaw hung wide open. This will surely get into the millions if he can sustain the content creation, staff up, etc.
Truly, this is a masterclass in how to make documentaries. Every video is fantastic, and each one is just a little bit better than the last. Up to date, this is the M3 of The Squidd's documentaries.
I really think this is the best vid we've done here so far. It's really tight, moves, and dances really well.
Thank you friend that means a lot to hear that. Its nice to know our hard work doesn't fall on deaf ears!

Amazing!
Thank you so much my friend. My coffee today will be thanks to you 🫶
My first car is an e30, i bought it when i was 15, i'm 18 now and i just got my license, I haven't driven a car that feels like the e30, the way it wants to rev and go , hug the road and tell you every detail through the steering.I have the tiny m40 1.6L engine , it hates highways , but it comes alive on twisty roads, always asking for more, i love it. Thank you for making this video, you're always 110% into your work as always, unbelivable content!

Squidd's uploads are always welcomed.
A 30 min package of awe, knowledge and adrenaline rush.
I started with an E30 325e as my first car. Much slower than yours! Also god dang did not see the LS swap coming, that car must be a BLAST
@@the.squidd etta 2.7 motor? Isn't that the low compression one? Still a inline six in a sub 3000 pound car so must still be fun as hell.
The imagery you use to describe the BMW badge is beautiful, but to anyone reading this *spoilers* it isn't why the BMW badge is what it is. The BMW badge has the colours of the coat of arms of Bavaria. You know, "Bayerische" Motoren Werke.

The S14 I4 is a beautiful engine. Both in terms of power, but also in terms of aesthetically. The individual intakes, precision mechanical linkages, slight angle and compact, but still flowing, exhaust manifold all make for a perfect example of what it meant to say German Engineering in the past.

The soundtrack, the pacing, the way you break down the history and background leading up to these cars is just 🤌🤌 The only thing I would like more of is when your talking about legendary engines such as the S14, RB's, etc engines that truly make music, you should tastefully pepper more engine sound into the videos after you reveal them. Nothing beats the sound of ITBs and some people have never heard of or even heard the sound of these engines you're going to get into later on. Just a thought

Love your presentation. Absolutely great documenter. You've got 1 new sub!
Awesome, thank you!
I have an 1988 325is but rather would own an E30 M3.

Nobody wants to buy a NASCAR vehicle these days - the sport itself is dying off. It’s all about F1 and sports cars these days
