I was on a highway in Upstate NY once and managed to get 44.2 MPG on my WRX (according to the computer). I didn't really think it was possible given that my car is rated 21/27 highway. Also, I myself would rather have an Si for daily use as the Type R's 20 inch wheels will get destroyed by the potholes in my area.
Those skinnnnny tires are definitely a strike against the type R as a daily. So far I haven't destroyed any wheels or tires on this car but I did purchase the insurance so I don't have to worry if I bash into a pot hole this winter.

People don't mention enough that the CIVIC SI, is probably one of the most reliable car ever made. Yes there are flaws just like on any other vehicule, but it's definetly a car where you'll most likely never have to worry about repairing it. It's -cheap, -effective and -reliable. It's suuuuper inexpensive. Love the video!!
I think hybrid car is the best option, here the anual circulation for those cars are more cheaper ( even brand new) than a normal petrol car, main problem is Honda civic ( this SI doesnt exist in europe) is very expensive 42k euros in portugal.
As someone using the new Si as a platform to learn manual on, your series of videos from your point of view help immensely in working out the smaller details of the manual mentaility. Thanks for the great stuff you've been doing so far, I look forward to your thoughts on the vehicle even further into it's lifespan.
I also have over 5,000 miles on my Si. It's a lot of fun to drive. I've been driving a rental suv on vacation and I really made me realize how good my SI is. Anyways pros, shifter is wonderful, I got a low profile shift knob and it is the most chunky shifter I have felt (I've driven a Focus RS, and 2011 wrx with a short throw shifter) and the SI is the best I've felt. Handling is great, even on all season tires I was surprised how well it hooks up and grips in the rain. I also really like the interior and sound system. Front end looks great in my opinion. Plenty of aftermarket parts, and the platform seems good enough for me to add tasteful mods(right now i have a prl stage one intake, resonater delete, and shift knob, and I plan to add a conservative tune and some cosmetic stuff).Cons, the screen sometimes is terrible, it's slow and Android auto sometimes breaks. Clutch is hard to tell when it's disengaging, it seems like it's inconsistent. It is very light which is nice. Back end spoiler isn't my favorite. Rev hang is a little annoying especially when full throttle.
@@manbeartr0ll325 Thank you for taking the time to reply. I've heard that changing out the all season tires for summer tires helps on the road noise. I have a 2020 Jetta SEL and I'm used to a quite ride.
@@fulloddskurt5600 I personally don't have a tune, but from what I have heard a tune would remove revhang. Specifically Ktuner. Hondata doesn't remove rev hang from what I understand.
It's been really cool watching your journey - thanks for sharing. I got my black Si the week the first wave hit dealerships here in Ohio.. It's been a real treat ever since with zero issues - 4800 miles in so far. I work from home so no commute - mostly use it as a family hauler (family of 4) and grocery getter. It makes normal mundane driving very fun - drivin' around town, weavin around cars. It's a super reasonable fun car. Thanks again!
I got 40 mpg in 6th gear on a 50 mph backroad this things a jack of all trades, fast “enough”, handles amazing, rockets out of corners, and if you are a new driver it will treat you great, if you are experienced it will be a delight!!
Rattles are so hard to chase down. Some days, cars are noisy, but when you NEED them to make the noises, they stop. This leads to the dealership saying "UNABLE TO REPLICATE CONCERN". It's a judgment call of whether or not continuing to troubleshoot it is warranted.
I feel like you learn a lot about a car as you drive it more (all the little things count!). My family has had a 2008 honda civic since I was young, and I never really knew the spec sheet properly (just the base model). Yesterday I found out that it had an open diff by sorta tripoding onto a friends steep driveway and just hearing wheelspin Even though it's a base model, it's a hella lot of fun to drive, reasonably weighted steering, weighs just over 1100kg and has enough torque. Enjoy what you drive people!
I went from a Volvo S60R daily driver to a 9th gen Civic. Your experience is identical to my experience, the difference was night and day between the two cars. Fit and finish on the Civic wasn't as good, agreed, but owning a Civic was life changing. I'll never own another European car again! I did miss the higher quality fit and finish, but if a car doesn't WORK AS A CAR and you're in a constant state of anxiety of what will break next, it's of no use to me AS A CAR to do car things.
@@jg54sayaka11 Volvo reliability is all hot air. I've owned a bunch of them (redblock and whiteblock) and while they are safe and the rustproofing is the best in the business, the reliability is total crap. 164s had PCV issues, the early 240s wiring harnesses disintegrated, the PRV motors are known crap, 16 valve Redblock heads would warp, and don't even get me started on the S60R's $4500 dollar suspension jobs and the SPA/Geely stuff. Great...if your goal is to be broke.
You may be eating those words later because these honda 1.5L suffer from misfires, fuel injectors issues, and head gasket problems. Do your research before calling Volvo unreliable. @@webwebwebby0 Honda's aren't that reliable either. It's a myth. I've owned several Accords in my days and NONE were reliable. Had an 03 Accord that needed a new tranny. An 06 Accord that needed a new radiator. An 05 Accord that needed $4K in suspension and another $3500 fixing an oil leak not to mention $400 spent on a different oil leak. It was constant repair-repair. Got rid of it for a 13 Accord 4cyl this time and it has that weird annoying loud sound when you start it which is another $1500 to fix. Nah, Honda and reliability is mythical garbage talk.
Congrats on the new car. I have a '19' SI Coupe, and I bought it mainly because of the mechanical limited slip, the bolstered heated seats, and the adjustable suspension. Most people don’t understand the joy of a LSD on a curvy freeway on-ramp, but it makes me smile every time. Driven at 7 or 8 10ths, the 1.5 feels so quick, and I get an honest 40 mpg on the freeway. Wish I had your tech though!
I'm getting into cars & I found ur channel & watched over 10 of ur videos in the last few days & ima watch way more I'm loving the videos & very informative for a beginner
Thanks for the review man! I’m looking at getting one and it’s really helpful having an in-depth consumer oriented review like this (compared to the reviewers with like 100 miles on it) to help me decide
Ya same 28k msrp is already pushing it for a civic anything over that is crazy. I paid 35k for my f150 new no way I'm justifying close to that for a civic
I have about the same number of miles on mine. I feel like this is the right car for this moment if you still want to have fun and have reasonable running costs. Gas prices are getting crazy and electric isn’t quite there and still commands a premium price for a good one.
As a daily driver, you want something with good gas mileage if you are driving a lot. I drive a 2021 kia forte gt. Its 201 HP and I have gotten 43mpg. I love it! Its fast enough for me. great MPG. cheap to maintain. These types of cars are the best cars to daily drive.
The rattles in the doors are likely from behind the door. On my accord the issue was the handle rattling against the metal. I used some Tessa tape to stop the noise. I also tightened down the parts of the door panel - you may try that.
Great place to park, on a crosswalk, okie doke. Love the videos, homie. You keep everything in perspective and honest. Can't wait to get mine in August.
Great video! I just got my 11th gen Si about a month ago, close to 1500 miles on it, amazing fun little machine. You always hear about people talk about the "grip" and how the car "hugs the road." this car hugs the road like no other. Obviously I'm still having plenty of fun with it, got to hit above advertised top speed and only at 33.8 mpg because of things like that but that in itself is a testament. Like you said having that kind of fuel economy and not even having to try is amazing. Haven't driven stick since 2010 but this car makes it super easy, just like ridin' a bike.
Looks like a perfect fun daily driver that is a gas saver! Production shortages and inflated car market with all the adjusted markups, this make it hard to get one. I live in WA state and they have if fully loaded with HPD that is priced right there with the new Acura Integra. For sure, I can’t imagine how much price markups the Type R will get once it comes out
I had to pay a 3,500 markup…..but I probably got 5-6k more than I should have for a 2017 brz. Net-net this is affordable and good. I fully expect mark ups for the integra…..you’ll end up paying 6-8k more for some creature comforts and a hatchback. Not a good use of $ for me.
@@ivanvillarreal8804 it will be interesting to see if the Acura dealer honors that. Hopefully, for your sake they will. The Honda dealers are marking the cars up because demand outpaces supply…..it’s hard to imagine that the majority of civic si enthusiasts won’t also know that the integra is essentially the same car (and drive up the price), but perhaps you’re gonna get quite lucky.
Great vid! Love seeing your journey with this civic, sounds like you got this car at the perfect time with the gas prices rocketing lol. Hope to see more civic content 🙌 :)
I am looking at this for my next car early 2023. Upgrading from my Mazda 3 hatch. I do wish the SI came in a hatch but the sedan looks awesome. Seems to be a great upgrade. I also do wish fog lights and heated seats came with it. But such is life. After market fogs are a thing though and many look pretty sweet. Thanks for the review!
8:20 - what did you expect from a BMW, a BMW SUV driver at that...to park in a designated spot? Come on man, it's his God given right to park on that crosswalk, dagnabbit! :)
Ive been interested in this Si due to a possible move to Cali to be house poor, but life rich. 😎 Sold my 911 and Spec Miata, leaving me with my e90 2011 335i msport 6 speed. Figured I would sell it when it came time to move. A few days ago it spun a rod bearing and I’m not going to fix it. Could not find a dealer that had a Si in stock who would sell it for less than $5k over sticker. Some are asking 10! So I found a dealer selling an Integra A-spec at MSRP plus $600 worth of stuff for $2000. I test drove it and have to say I was disappointed, especially after positive reviews from you, Savage Geese, Every Day Driver and just about everyone else. For me me the clutch pedal had less feel then my sim rig and the engine was such an appliance. Which you kind of hinted at here. I went there in a borrowed F10 M5, so that probably did not help. With no immediate date for the move, I’m going to spend 7k more for a 16 F80 M3 6 speed. I don’t think you have ever reviewed one. I think if I did go this route, I will go with the Acura. HATCHBACK! Plus some really nice amenities. D
I'm glad you like it. I've owned three. I'm done with it, until it gets a power boost and a different look. Never been into sedans. I know it will last but, right now I'm at a place where I would deal with lower quality, for a wilder Si.
Lol I hear ya with the fuel economy. I also had a M3 and gotta say I love driving the Si. It’s a fun economical vehicle. Instead of Governments pushing EV’s They should be encouraging people to purchase small sedans like the Si for commuting.
I have 70,000 miles on my tuned daily 2018 si. I had air conditioning compression leakage issues ...it was all under warranty... Upgraded the brakes to cross drilled and got some LED headlights
Im loving my 2022 civic. I bought the base model to drive the hell out of it. I have 35,000 miles since last September. I haven't had any issues other than getting flats. Crazy distances in Texas are racking up the miles
I had three people tell me I was crazy for trading in my Lexus NX300 for a Civic Touring Hatch but at the end of the day I get a better sound system, more MPG, wireless charging/Apple CarPlay, a touchscreen infotainment, more trunk space, the walkaway locking feature, even the sport mode kicks in better than with the NX. I’m happy with my purchase..
I NEVER cared about MPG and I don't even drive very much (about 9k/year) but the economy and low running costs of the SI is actually really appealing and might be enough to make me pick it over a WRX.
Do you ever calculate the MPG manually? My 2018 Accord overstates MPG by 3-4mpg compared to what I calculate by hand - regardless, this Si still gets pretty amazing mileage. My 2009 Civic Si sedan normally got 29-31mpg (it was rated at 29mpg).
Love these videos, keep 'em coming! I have a reservation for an Integra 6MT, and I am eager to hear your thoughts, given your Si ownership will surely inform your opinion. The heated seats, sweet stereo, and other features are important to me, and although the price gap between the two is significant hefty at MSRP, the Integra feels more tempting and feels like a better deal when it's hard to find an Si without a hefty markup. My question is this: what have you done, if anything, to treat or prevent against rust? I know you're a fellow Southern New England driver, so seeing someone who deals with the same roads, salt, and weather conditions is pretty cool! (And while plenty of southern Civic Si drivers probably do not care much about heated seats, a lot of us up here certainly do!)
@@stms4411 There will certainly be tax/title/registration fees on my end, plus whatever extras for dealer accessories, certainly. And there are some dealerships that are absolutely marking up the Integra. That said, for me personally, I did pre-order/reserve the Integra and put down a deposit, and I have at least verbal confirmation from the dealership that they will sell the car at MSRP. Fingers crossed that there won't be any unexpected hijinks when the car comes in, but I will remain optimistic! :)
E v e r y reason you love this Si are the exact same reasons I've loved my 8th gen Si against possible competitors for 12 years. IMO 8th gen is the most sporty, comfy, and practical FF OEM sedan ever. Still want to test drive one of these, and E. N. of course.
You're not wrong. I love and miss my 8th gen so much. She was so much fun to drive. Riding vtec all the way to like 8500. Lol. Not real power for a honda and definitely not fast but they 8ths are a blast to drive
So jealous of the MPG. I feel like, 10 years ago, 40 MPG was only achievable in a hybrid. Also, totally feel you regarding the open space of the Civic, that nice short dash is sweet. My Fiesta is tight and the big bulky dash doesn't help Anyway, THANK YOU for sharing this ownership experience and reminding us all that any day behind the wheel is a good day, no matter what you're driving :)
You must be kidding my friend. the problem in the usa is that the cars are, for some reason, very inefficient. I had a Mitsubishi Carisma build in 2000 with an 1.8L GDI 125hp engine. On the german autobahn while just cruising at about 93mph I got about 40mpg. Often times when I was not in a hurry I would just cruise around 62mph and would get around 60mpg at that speed. The owner before drove that car for 100k miles and it showed an average consumption of 28mpg. Within 19k miles I brought that average consumption down to 35mpg and it was still going down. Now I have a bigger car which I need for my old parents but that Mitsubishi really was a gem and way ahead of its time. So what is so special about new cars performing even worse than that old car and it being considered special?
@@accelerator5524 Nice. My 2013 North American Mitsubishi Lancer 5 speed with 130K miles got 39mpg the other day on the highway at rush hour. But your Carisma was much lighter than these modern cars due to less safety and sound deadening. 40mpg for an engine making 200hp and 200Nm is excellent, so this Civic is excellent.
30yr/m cross shopping between the new: - GR86/BRZ - MX5 Miata - Civic Si or Integra but Int doesn't seem worth the additional price - Old Lexus 560 or even 570 - Old Lexus 430 or even 400. This will be my only vehicle living in upstate NY so I do get hot summers and cold, snow covered winters. No family or kids just me and soon a dog (Cane Corso breed). Also considering the option of purchasing one of these cars and then add an old/cheaper 4x4 vehicle for winter. Someone decide for me
Subscribed to you for these long term civic reviews. I hate how the norm is making a decision off of a car based off one test drive. At the moment I have a 350z and am having some buyers regret as it's just not the right car for me. Can't get out though due to tax and everything. This is very useful, especially as I am also hoping to get a type R next year. Thanks! Hopefully the type R markups aren't atrocious
I wish I had empty road drives like everyone getting 40+ MPG. My commute has a lot of traffic and stop lights, and the best I can get, with extreme babying it, is 32.5 MPG.
Maybe if you drive like a granny and slipstream trucks in traffic dense areas you'll get closer to 40mpg. I was able to do that the other day in my 2013 5 speed Lancer (dense but not stop and go traffic). Traffic is boring so might as well make an mpg game out of it lol
@@darrenmathias9384 the only way I can get to work on time is to accelerate slightly quicker than the rest of traffic, or at least on par. On the commute there’s Probably over 20 lights, which means a lot of stopping and a lot of traffic. On a nice highway commute I can get over 38, but unfortunately my route is full of lights. AND somehow I hit almost every single one of them.
A long time ago, I had a Civic SI (1993), loved it, drove it nine years. Today, I drive a 2017 VW Golf 1.8T 5 speed manual that I bought new for $17,500. I’m approaching 50,000 miles and only had to replace a bad thermostat (under warranty). I generally achieve 45-49 mpg on the highway (70-75 mph), but have gotten as high as 52 (driven from SE Oregon to the Oregon coast). No squeaks, no rattles, and much more of a mature feel than my Honda. Yeah, not a sexy car, but it will get up and go when you want it to and is at least as fuel efficient in real life as the newer Hondas, Toyotas, Mazdas, and I paid cash for it, so no monthly car payments ever. I will continue to drive my VW for many years, possibly decades to come. Good luck in your Honda, but I just wanted everyone to know how pleased I’ve been with my VW when compared to my older Civic.

Love love love my Si 1000 miles yesterday. So fun and that manual is so perfect just the best part I think. These are hard to find and you will pay over msrp but remember if you have a used car you will also get more selling it yourself or on trade. And if you buy new the rates are much better new. And just yesterday I saw a 22 Si on carvana w 3000 miles priced 2500 over what I paid for mine new 3 weeks ago.
Some random reactions. My boxster has the same problem with the passenger seatbelt (rattling), so I belt it when there’s no passenger with me. Don’t hear anything from my 3 months / 3,600 miles in my si. I find it plenty quick for real world street driving. Agree with the plaudits for this car. For those who love manuals, this one is terrific (in some ways better than my Porsche) Had a focus RS and agree with the cockpit observations by tedward. The interior on the ford was awful compared to the Si. The seat pan angle was not adjustable and uncomfortable. Ride quality was horrible. Was heroically fast, but you only had fun when demolishing the speed limit. You can enjoy this Si without having to hoon. Oh yeah, it also had an ad hoc problem where it was beyond rev hang (sometimes elevated as much as 1,000 rpms upon upshift…..ford called it normal so I sold it. Reliability is relative….I’ll bet on the Si vs other options. Having said that - I may go back to a brz in a couple years. Would likely not do a CTR……that’s likely $50k and I don’t see the value there.
My Focus ST was very particular about fuel. Never threw a CEL, but it would run as if it had a major problem if I went to anything but a name brand station to get premium fuel until it got a fresh tank and then it would clear up nearly right away and be fine.
I want one so bad its my goal to get one as a daily drive I have a first gen manual Xterra and the MPG is so bad I just can't wait to have a fuel efficient manual car again!
I am a shop foreman at a Honda dealer and I can say that I see some new civic with the same misaligned body panels and others that are fine. I got lucky with my si. Not very much noise either. I just feel it needs more power but thankfully the parts for this car will be all over the place soon enough
Hate rattling- this would Definitely keep me away from buying a car when it’s not properly built and has rattles.. I do like the car , the look and the performance! Have fun sir
Really enjoyed this review. I haven't been sold on the SI quite yet. I had a 2013 SI which I loved. @@serpentblaze6702 if you want to enjoy the Si, I would recommend getting the Si, whichever one works best for your budget. Either pay out the ass for a new one or a ridiculously high price for a used. 8th gens will always be KING
There was a time, i owned a more modern tiny engine turbo sedan, 2021 even. Got 45mpg without ever trying, on regular gas at that. But the actual driving experiences were so terrible...crippling in fact. That i was completely willing to sell it within a year. Back to another sports car, that runs premium and gets 25mpg. And here i am with absolutely no regrets even today.. the driving experience is first and foremost for me. No rev hang. No hill assist. No electronic e brake. No traffic assist. And i wouldn't have it any other way.
My buddy's 2018 Accord suffers from similar rattles in the door panels. Recently the headliner developed a rattle as well. Dealership fixed it but then it came back shortly after. Also had a check engine light, O2 sensor went out right after the warranty expired.
The reliability is a heavily understated trait of these cars. Not having to constantly worry about (and often pay for) repairs is a godsend.

the only way I see that being possible is if you stayed at 50-55mph
ive got a few buddies with va WRXs and best ive seen them get is about 32-33
yeah the best I've gotten was 33
People don't mention enough that the CIVIC SI, is probably one of the most reliable car ever made. Yes there are flaws just like on any other vehicule, but it's definetly a car where you'll most likely never have to worry about repairing it. It's -cheap, -effective and -reliable. It's suuuuper inexpensive. Love the video!!
I’m still daily driving My 2008 Si.. not a single thing has broken
How is the road/wind noise when driving on city streets and on the highway?
@@cliff8669 Coming from a 2011 wrx its nothing. But wheels are noisy for sure. Wind noise isn't too bad in my opinion.

I really appreciate this long-term review/updates. It is very useful and realistic.
12k mile update incoming
@Tedward I can't wait! I was shopping between Si, Gti, and Wrx but you certainly convinced me on the Si.
I just bought a 2022 si. I’m loving it. Only 250km in but it’s beautiful, it’s resourceful, the inputs feel agile and responsive
Rattles are so hard to chase down. Some days, cars are noisy, but when you NEED them to make the noises, they stop. This leads to the dealership saying "UNABLE TO REPLICATE CONCERN". It's a judgment call of whether or not continuing to troubleshoot it is warranted.
What an awesome machine Honda put together
I feel like you learn a lot about a car as you drive it more (all the little things count!).
My family has had a 2008 honda civic since I was young, and I never really knew the spec sheet properly (just the base model). Yesterday I found out that it had an open diff by sorta tripoding onto a friends steep driveway and just hearing wheelspin
Even though it's a base model, it's a hella lot of fun to drive, reasonably weighted steering, weighs just over 1100kg and has enough torque. Enjoy what you drive people!
My sister had a 2008 civic. It's the reason I got a 2020 Si.
I just hit 1700 miles on my si. Best car I've ever gotten to daily
Dude this car is such an underdog. It’s the best daily I’ve owned since my CU2 TSX.
I love how basic and nice this ride is
Civics should *NOT* have misaligned panels. I've owned a 6th gen and 8th gen and none of them had that issue.
Man I’m overseas right now but this seems like the best compromise for a guy wanting to start a family
I went from a Volvo S60R daily driver to a 9th gen Civic. Your experience is identical to my experience, the difference was night and day between the two cars. Fit and finish on the Civic wasn't as good, agreed, but owning a Civic was life changing. I'll never own another European car again! I did miss the higher quality fit and finish, but if a car doesn't WORK AS A CAR and you're in a constant state of anxiety of what will break next, it's of no use to me AS A CAR to do car things.
volvo's are usually also known for their reliability though, at least the old ones
Honda isn't the company it once was. You think the misfire he talked about was just some freak thing. OH it will be back
@@v60polestar88 Bruh this is the hardest triggering I’ve ever seen in my entire life! 😂😂😂😂 Best of luck with the Stockholm Syndrome and reading lessons.
Thumbs up man I agree with a lot you stated here. Hoping to pick a’23 up soon. I’m sold on it.
Wow, this is the first time I've ever been first on a video/RUclips comment section. Feels awfully empty in here 🤣
Congratulations!

Shows the little amount of bots are here on car review channels lol finally
Congrats on the new car. I have a '19' SI Coupe, and I bought it mainly because of the mechanical limited slip, the bolstered heated seats, and the adjustable suspension. Most people don’t understand the joy of a LSD on a curvy freeway on-ramp, but it makes me smile every time. Driven at 7 or 8 10ths, the 1.5 feels so quick, and I get an honest 40 mpg on the freeway. Wish I had your tech though!
Got a 17 myself, and I agree about the lsd
I just got mine 2 days ago. I love it! I just put 100 miles on my first day of owning it.
I'm getting into cars & I found ur channel & watched over 10 of ur videos in the last few days & ima watch way more I'm loving the videos & very informative for a beginner
Absolutely love these types of videos ^_^
I have a 2022 Civic Sport, but I always find myself watching Si videos. Great car.
I have a Volvo V60 2013 diesel with 210,000km, zero faults in my time. Bluetooth audio, two-zone AC, best seats ever, 47mpg highway… Love it! 🥰
The front door to fender overlap is intentional, it is so that the air doesn't catch on the door edge and cause more drag/wind noise.
I'm not sure if it was wholly intentional or just a hilarious coincidence, but I was served a 30-second ad between 1st and 2nd gear shifts.
Picked mine up today in platinum white pearl.
Thanks for the review man! I’m looking at getting one and it’s really helpful having an in-depth consumer oriented review like this (compared to the reviewers with like 100 miles on it) to help me decide
I'm ready to buy a Civic SI but I'm not paying anything above MSRP 😤 and everywhere I look they are tacking on 12% markup its annoying as fuck
several PA dealerships are at 5k markup
Ya same 28k msrp is already pushing it for a civic anything over that is crazy. I paid 35k for my f150 new no way I'm justifying close to that for a civic
I have about the same number of miles on mine. I feel like this is the right car for this moment if you still want to have fun and have reasonable running costs. Gas prices are getting crazy and electric isn’t quite there and still commands a premium price for a good one.
Your videos reignited my love for Honda cars
Into the 40’s MPG is damn good. I’ve seen like 37-38 at the most in my 6-speed Mazda3. Averaging like 33 overall.
I have a 9th gen si and have been debating upgrading to the 11th gen, these videos help!
The rattles in the doors are likely from behind the door. On my accord the issue was the handle rattling against the metal. I used some Tessa tape to stop the noise. I also tightened down the parts of the door panel - you may try that.
Thanks for sharing this. As a 9th Gen Si owner, I found this extremely informative.
Not a good use of $ for me.
dealers around my area (SoCal )want 5/7/10 gs more so i put a deposit down on an Integra with no markup, i feel like honda forced me into an acura.
I do agree that 11th generation leather steering wheel feels amazing. I sat in one at a dealer a few days ago and it felt really great.
Great vid! Love seeing your journey with this civic, sounds like you got this car at the perfect time with the gas prices rocketing lol. Hope to see more civic content 🙌 :)
commutes are pretty comfy with multilink suspensions while letting you toss em around when you want.
I love the civic. I have a '17 hatch and i am thinking of upgrading to the '23 SI.
Man these civics are getting bigger and bigger.
Nice car now u got yourself a reliable car and a money saver
8:20 - what did you expect from a BMW, a BMW SUV driver at that...to park in a designated spot? Come on man, it's his God given right to park on that crosswalk, dagnabbit! :)
Dude you are obsessed with being efficient 😜 like OMG just enjoy the drive and be safe
I have to say this as a fact not an opinion : Honda has one of the best interiors for usual cars.
Absolutely love the videos man, thank you for providing such good quality content! Love the honda, love seeing videos with it, keep em coming haha!
Personally I have one on order rn, dealer updated me recently saying car should be in mid August. Very excited
I'm glad you like it. I've owned three. I'm done with it, until it gets a power boost and a different look. Never been into sedans. I know it will last but, right now I'm at a place where I would deal with lower quality, for a wilder Si.
that rev hang would drive me crazy man
Lol I hear ya with the fuel economy.
How are the seats compared to average comfortable seats? Any good for long distance?
I had three people tell me I was crazy for trading in my Lexus NX300 for a Civic Touring Hatch but at the end of the day I get a better sound system, more MPG, wireless charging/Apple CarPlay, a touchscreen infotainment, more trunk space, the walkaway locking feature, even the sport mode kicks in better than with the NX. I’m happy with my purchase..
that rev hang is nuts
Everything I learned in life I learned from Ted .
I always calculate it manually. It'd report 35 mpg where in reality I was getting 30-32
I always manually calculate my mpg on every car. The computer is always off by 2 mpg.
I love this review series bc it’s certainly a car to consider. Especially now that the brz makes more power I just can’t pick between the two
"A shame the doors in the back aren't red trim."
Tedward: Get out of the vehicle mom.
😂
If you don’t pay a markup for the integra, that’s great…..but do you know what you’ll have to pay (out the door)? Is it MSRP or higher?
@@stms4411 There will certainly be tax/title/registration fees on my end, plus whatever extras for dealer accessories, certainly. And there are some dealerships that are absolutely marking up the Integra. That said, for me personally, I did pre-order/reserve the Integra and put down a deposit, and I have at least verbal confirmation from the dealership that they will sell the car at MSRP. Fingers crossed that there won't be any unexpected hijinks when the car comes in, but I will remain optimistic! :)
@@jessemarsh9386 good luck! If it’s MSRP you’ll have done very well….even if there’s a few hundred bucks of hard to justify fees
I recently got a 6 speed integra. Has the drive ability of the si and the great features of the touring hatchback plus more!
@@weaselman50 - did you have to pay any markup?
My Fiesta is tight and the big bulky dash doesn't help
Anyway, THANK YOU for sharing this ownership experience and reminding us all that any day behind the wheel is a good day, no matter what you're driving :)
30yr/m cross shopping between the new:
- GR86/BRZ
- MX5 Miata
- Civic Si or Integra but Int doesn't seem worth the additional price
- Old Lexus 560 or even 570
- Old Lexus 430 or even 400.
This will be my only vehicle living in upstate NY so I do get hot summers and cold, snow covered winters.
No family or kids just me and soon a dog (Cane Corso breed).
Also considering the option of purchasing one of these cars and then add an old/cheaper 4x4 vehicle for winter.
Someone decide for me
No kids & cold winters would push me to the BRZ for something fun year round in the snow. If you got a 4x4, the Miata is an easy choice.
Can't suggest between sports cars vs suvs. Between gr86, mx5 and civic, rawness it's mx5 = gr86 > civic, creature comfort civic > gr86 > mx5.
Mjata is always the answer
Subscribed to you for these long term civic reviews. I hate how the norm is making a decision off of a car based off one test drive. At the moment I have a 350z and am having some buyers regret as it's just not the right car for me. Can't get out though due to tax and everything. This is very useful, especially as I am also hoping to get a type R next year. Thanks! Hopefully the type R markups aren't atrocious
OMG today I hit 5000 miles and still love my si
Congo for your great ride. This is luxury in my country.
45 to 49 LOL sure

@Tedward im anxiously waiting for you to test out the new integra and give us a comparison. It will mean a lot coming from you. Can’t wait
I own the 2022 Si and sell the Integra. Definitely more refined better ride and amazing sound system. Still love my Civic and the better front seats.
people are hard on this L15 but all around, the engineering is impressive
For those who love manuals, this one is terrific (in some ways better than my Porsche)
Had a focus RS and agree with the cockpit observations by tedward.
Each time I'm behind one of these, I can't help but crack up the size of the taillights.
1:55 Channel trivia: Acura hat debuted at Florida Daytona oval track NSX Type S event ?
Very Impressive! Yes that was a gift from Acura at Daytona and I've kept it with me ever since.
I wonder if Tom still has that Ford Police Interceptor hat?
Nice that you are happy with it! For one not very keen on modern day cars, I'd take this over the E92 M3 any day.
That is why the MPG are so good though, however I cannot deal with that rev hang.
Do you feel the pandemic/ chip shortage has killed quality on Hondas?
Hate rattling- this would Definitely keep me away from buying a car when it’s not properly built and has rattles.. I do like the car , the look and the performance! Have fun sir
Try the Mini SE next. I think you might just love it. Even bigger fuel savings.
Really enjoyed this review. I haven't been sold on the SI quite yet. I had a 2013 SI which I loved. I now have an Accord 2.0T which I like but don't love cuz at the end of the day it's a family sedan. I miss driving my 9th gen SI -- basically all the stuff you touched on. I just can't stomach paying $33k for an SI which is what it goes for here. Maybe at MSRP...
I’m thinking of getting an SI but do you think I should maybe settle for an older model of the car? Maybe 2018 or something around there. The markups on cars these days are simply insane
@@serpentblaze6702 if you want to enjoy the Si, I would recommend getting the Si, whichever one works best for your budget. Either pay out the ass for a new one or a ridiculously high price for a used. 8th gens will always be KING
Lol my 2017 SI had 155k miles. Took her everywhere.
Well said! Great review. Seams like a fun daily driver.
I'm averaging around 37 mpg in my 10th gen Civic, which is not bad. But if you're getting over 40 mpg that's outstanding!
