    Our Canadian SI has so many great options with the heated steering, heated rear seats, sunroof. As much as I’d love to drive a type R, you can’t get those livable features in that type R model. As a daily it’s hard to give up that stuff.

      I can see why you’d want the HEATING features of the Si, given where you live. I’m not saying that southern Canada is nothing but cold (as some people seem to think), by any means, but I did visit Montreal once, when it was -30 degrees Fahrenheit! It was COLD! Fortunately, the next day the temperature rose to about 30 degrees… 60 degrees warmer.

      My BMW starts every time, too, and furthermore, it has not only never broken down in 50K miles, it hasn’t cost much in repairs, either (a set of coils, the oil filler gasket, that’s it). I bought it at 11K for $22,750, and feel like I got a pretty good deal!

    • @MrTeknown
      @MrTeknown 2 месяца назад

      I don't really miss the handbrake. I have an E-brake in my A6 C6 and it's very well made. I only have to press it once, when I stop driving and never worry about it. In my A4 B7 it's a pain as the handbrake is a little loose and I have to move my armrest out of the way every single time I want to use it.

Been driving an ‘02 WRX wagon for the last 22 years and as advanced as this car is compared to it they both are about connected, driving fun, which ultimately, is what matters. Ted I agree with everything you have said about your SI. Every time I get in mine I’m happy with my purchase I really enjoy getting in my car everyday. The gas mileage is awesome. Although I do a lot of city driving I’m still averaging 31mpg and I drive pretty respectably. Half the time I drive like a grandma and half the time I get on it a little. Even though it’s not fast it’s fun to drive and it’s quick enough for me to have fun while driving. It’s everything I wanted in a car that made sense. The car is practical and economical. If your looking to mod these cars I would stay with just a few bolt ons. These L15 engines aren’t built for a lot of power. You can see with the last generation once you get past 250tq/hp the clutch will go and rods blow through the block. But like I said the way the car is now I love it. If you looking for something faster maybe get a 2.0l To get a little more power out of them. I would recommend getting one of these cars for a little bit of rhe more mature audience. Still if your young and can afford it and are looking for something practical, get it.

Mind you my job and school are really close to where I live but I've been enjoying it! It was a tough decision for me to pick which car I wanted because I was also looking into the GR86 Premium or a Tesla Model 3. Being that I've always wanted to learn and drive a manual, I was sold over all the amenities you get with the SI over the 86. I only wished that the Si's got the same features the Canada versions got which include the heated seats, heated steering wheel, fog lights, and the different gauge on the dashboard. I'm sure there's a way to buy a conversion kit for it but regardless I plan on keeping it stock and enjoying it how it is!

    Good to see a review of a new, fun, cheap manual car. I feel the same way about my GR86 minus the fuel economy. Fun to drive every time and all the controls, ergonomics just make sense. Congrats on the Type R!

    It's crazy how far fuel economy has come. My daily driver is a 2015 LX, and the Fuel economy I'm getting is a hair higher than what you're expecting for the CTR

    I drive a 2018 civic si and it is my daily! It is smooth, got enough power for the streets and back road, this car will be handed down to my son once he hit 17-18! Great on gas mileage, hopefully I can keep it in great condition for when my son is old enough to drive.

    Really jealous of how the Civic Si just seems like a nice place to be. My Fiesta ST is pretty claustrophobic and, after 35,000 miles, it's starting to show its supercheap supermini roots. Everyone is hyper-focused on what the Civic Si doesn't have, but it has so much going for it for the price. The value is really there.

    • @jameswillard1
      @jameswillard1 Год назад

      That was my problem with the FiST too. I had one new a few years ago and at 6,500 miles I didn’t have a great feeling in terms of long term rigidity. That being said it was one of the most fun cars to drive in anger that I’ve ever driven. The Civic Type R I purchased after had a bank vault feel in comparison.

    • @justinwieduwilt5420
      @justinwieduwilt5420 Год назад

      I’m really trying to find something to make me want to get out of my FiST… but I love the small size and claustrophobic-nature of it!!! And the handling feeling that comes with it.
      I lucked into finding a new SI at a no markup, MSRP only dealership near me (I was there to look at a used car but they had just gotten the SI that day and somehow no one had reserved it), and I wanted sooo bad to like it, knowing that many people would love to be able to get one at sticker, so I started the deal, worked out the terms, then backed out… because I realized I wouldn’t have been as excited/happy to get into it everyday as I am with my FiST.
      Yea, the interior in the SI is probably it’s best feature, and everything looks great and is laid out in a driver friendly way. And Just from the test drive i could see the gas mileage would be great on my commute. And I liked that It felt like a bit of a throwback in the sense of there isn’t a lot of unnecessary features and a lot of drive modes to pick from, both of which are also features I enjoy in the FiST (It’s just such a pure drivers car, no unnecessary safety features that enthusiasts don’t really want, no gimmicky drive modes)
      But to me the exterior styling of the SI is meh (I really dislike sedans though), and the engine felt less eager than the fist.
      Ultimately, since my Fiesta is paid off, I realized if/when I’m going to take on a payment, I want get at least a bit of a performance upgrade, which the SI simply didn’t feel like. And I realized I don’t want to be taking myself into a liking a car because it gets great gas mileage, which is basically what I was doing.
      Also, I test drove the SI immediately after test driving an Elantra N, and the Elantra N absolutely blows the Civic SI away…. It’s not even close tbh.
      I can’t believe people are actually paying more for the SI than the Elantra N after mark-ups… I walked away thinking the SI wasn’t worth a penny more than MSRP while the Elantra N could very easily be priced higher than it is and still be compelling
      Also, my FiST is at 80k and still going strong. I’m having some hvac issues (blend door actuators, common in the FiST) and an intermittent CEL issue with an EVAP code, but the drivetrain feels like it could go another 80k, and the interior has held up surprisingly well.

    Love my 23 Si. Wouldn’t buy a car without watching your review first. Love everything about this car. Coming from a coyote mustang, you think I’d miss the power. But the handling, gas mileage, and practicality are amazing. Plus it’s a blast to drive. Flawless manual transmission!

      I’m extremely picky when it comes to cars, and I have not had any issues whatsoever(knock on wood). No oil dilution, literally zero issues. The only thing I can honestly complain about is the drivers side door arm rest gets a dirty easily. You’ll find a bunch of videos about it lol. Super easy to clean so not a real issue. At just over 9k miles now and haven’t had any mechanical hiccups, zero complaints. Car handles amazing and has enough power to get out of the way and makes it a blast to drive. Sure your not going to win drag races but it’s quick enough and the handling, chassis, transmission are flawless. I walked a 9th gen civic si the other day. So its not slow. Good luck!

    I had a 2007 Civic Si when it came out, I ended up swapping a K24 from a TSX and a supercharger into it because it felt so slow. After about 2014 I had "outgrown'" the car and sold it for an F150. I do wish I had not outgrown a Civic Si because I really like the way they look now.
