a handling sporty version of 2023 prius sort of car for cheap cost of lviing and balance between combustion and battery, the every mans every day car, where pedals that push back to discourage over powering and over braking, steerind and chassis and seats that communicate how near grip limit car is, maybe a little gforce meter that shows up when near grip limit, light weight high speed momentum preserving geometries ,... all would help maximize longveity of fuels, tires, brakes, battery, and make car crash safe for people inside and outside car, by lightweighting and energy absorption and making driver pay attention to driving enviroment by making hypermiling perfection fun. how about a aftermarket parts swap for adding this to any car, especially for cars lighter than average sedan, like around 3500 lbs?

The front bumper "fake vents" are there for a purpose. That crease in the bumper is there to bounce air around the front tire in a smooth flow, so its not sucked into the wheel well (there are flow charts that Honda put out, they're floating around somewhere). There are functional air vents in the front for brake cooling - they are on the sides of the bottom main air dam.

Of course, now that I finally have the car and can stop obsessing over these vids, Tedward (AND TheTopher ferchrissakes!) pick up Type Rs. So now I guess I get to repeat the entire process while daydreaming about the upcoming Type-S. Dammit Tedward.

I still remember that feeling… I walked in a BMW / Acura dealership and there it was, a 1998 integra Type R championship white. I was afraid to ask, but the dealer told me that I could have it at MSRP, out the door for 26 k… so I got no. 998. Still to this day, no car I have driven has given me the same huge grin. Unrefined by today’s standards, on twisty roads it was an absolute weapon… no sound insulation, just the scream of the v-tech…

Totally agree about comparing your M3 to this on backroads. I had an e92 M3, f80 M4, and currently have a 991.2 GT3. The FK8 CTR "replaced" my M4. I would say the M3 was just as fun as the CTR, but getting 170 miles on a tank was annoying. The M4 could be scary as it didn't have great traction, and had a ton of power. The GT3 is really fun, but the speeds get so high, so fast, that it takes away some of the fun because you are worried about getting pulled over going way too fast. I live not far from Sonoma Raceway, so all those roads you experienced are in my back yard. Congrats on the purchase.

Hard driving is probably not happening before spring for Ted. In addition to engine break-in, summer tires like the Pilot 4S don't like cold weather and they get really slick below 40 degrees F or so.

OK, but there are limits to hard you want to push a car on winter tires. The tires just aren't very rewarding to that type of driving on dry roads, even the tires rates as high performance. At least that has been my experience with winter tires on an S2000 and a Boxster.

Agree on your mat/carpet idea. The red in my 2004 S2000 got kind of grotty pretty quickly. WeatherTech is probably the way to go for mats.
I'm not getting into line to pay ransom to a dealer just yet. I suspect that the Integra S rollout next year may change the pricing dynamic. Will at least put more options into the mix and the Integra may end up a better deal just because their current lineup isn't moving that well.

I don't know if Tedward has already addressed this question in another video, and I don't mean to sound accusatory of manufacturer favoritism, but did being an automotive RUclipsr with a following help you get this car almost immediately after its release date? TheTopher and Mark from Savagegeese also got new CTRs in the past couple of weeks, but I imagine Joe and Jane Average are going to have a very difficult time finding one of these to buy, period...and that's not even getting into the likely five-figure dealer markups they'll have to pay to make the deal.
Just curious when and how Tedward got on the list to buy one of these. And congrats on the car--you're going to love it!

I really love the new Type R. The only two thing I would change if I had the chance is the Exhaust. In my opinion the exhaust would look better if it was two exhaust tips on each side of the bumper kinda like the S2000. I know this is tribute to the previous Type R version but I can imagine only two exhaust exits on each side. And the Second thing I would change is the wheels. Do not get me wrong they look really good but still I would put different wheels. These two things are just little things that I would change about the car. I have a 2008 335i with some suspension, then on top of that car I bought a 2018 Civic Type R that I drove for 2 years before trading it in for a 2016 F80 M3 and I must say (without driving an E46 or any other legendary BMW chassis) that the CTR is the best planted steering, suspension and chassis I've ever driven, my only reason to go for the F80 was the GOAT engine and RWD car that combined with decent chassis and great BMW setup makes driving a little more fun...the CTR is so on the edge of cars that are 2x or 3x the price is unreal, I wish with all my heart to be financially able to buy an FL5 along my M3 and have both because that is the real dream, not one or the other......both

I like that the car grew up a little bit. The older body style was way too out there for me. This looks more put together. I’m cringing at the 45k price tag though. That’s just a lot of money. STI’s start around 36k, GTI’s can be had for less, and Golf R’s are in the same ballpark but with AWD. The price point for this car should have been around 39k. I think it would have placed it just right to put a dent in the competition.
