That 5 valve motor just hits different. IMO it's the king of flat plane V8 goodness. Such an iconic Ferrari, the styling, the motor, the shifter *chef's kiss*
Yeah, this is one of the final versions of the Dino engine, and it just sounds HEAVENLY! (The last version was in the F360 - F430 was the first Ferrari with the Ferrari-Maserati engine) Fun fact - The F40 also used the Dino engine.
I’ve owned mine 12 years or so. I have to say. The stereo worked when I first got it. I’ve NEVER checked it since as I’ve never used it. The engine noise is that addictive!!!!!
I appreciate your content Tedward. Currently own a 2005 Toyota Camry and watching you drive all these other cars inspires a 25 year old like me to work harder towards something
Years ago I worked at a Euro car repair shop that worked on an F355 owned by Shaq (I believe it was Shaq) and it was heavily modified to fit his giant frame. I only drove the car into the shop and didn't do any of the work but it was still really REALLY cool to drive, if even only 100 feet. Seems like it was an automatic but that was so long ago now I don't fully recall.
That engine still sounds wonderful 30 years on from its debut. Easily one of the best-looking Ferraris - Pininfarina hit it out of the park with both the coupe and the cabrio. It's a shame about the servicing costs and the F1 gearboxes can be really problematic, just ask Samcrac about his green Ferrari 360...

One of my favourite cars. I’ll say this, I’ve never though my type r sounds strained at redline, I’ve always thought they to sound and feel like the rev really easy.
I keep imagining driving one of these on a weekend morning. I could pull off buying one, if even just for a year to experience it, but don't have the courage yet to pull the trigger. We do have a Maserati, so the garage has some Italian. One of the best sounding cars ever made.
Holy fucking shit that sound 🤌...pardon my italian but that wail is fantastic. Had one of these as a toy car when I was a kid, along with a 360 modena. Played with them all day long. Some of my favorite looking cars of all time

Aaah this reminds me so much of the time I owned a 1990 Toyota MR2 in red. Random people would mistake it for a Ferrari and I bet the F355 was the cause. ❤
Great review from this gorgeous car! You can drive this engine from 2000 to 8500, in every range you get your emotions ; in real traffic they get more special from year to year...
The owner of Capristo Automotive explained that the F355's sound is actually due to what is essentially a flawed exhaust design. The exhaust builds up great internal pressure, which leads to that sound (and sometimes ruptures). "Fixing" this issue just makes the car sound like the later 360s or 430s. They sold a lot of exhausts for the F355.
Only thing I got against this is that early first attempt at an airbag steering wheel it's got. I saw an Italian version with a different wheel and it makes the interior look a lot better.
Big fan tedward, i know this may sound weird, but i would love if you could try and find a manual c class to make a pov drive on. I find it so interesting with a newish merc and a manual gearbox. Anyway love the vids and keep up the amazing work.
Great cars. I hired one for a weekend road trip around 20 years ago and loved it apart from the steering which I found too light and lacking in feel. The engine was just epic and the gear change for so satisfying to use. That air bag steering wheel though is among the most hideous on any road car.
Previous owners sure didn't treat that interior well. I realize it's a '98, but only 50,000 miles so time in the car should be just about the same as any other 50,000 mile car. Regardless that sounds is wonderful. The fact that it's under 3k lbs is great too.
That NPC moving over to the left lane and just parking, lol, was there a zipper merge coming up or something? 8:20. Also holy 💩, those shifter clicks were 🔥
oh no now I've gotta go watch another video cause this one didn't end with "I'll see you in the next one" therefore it doesn't feel complete. also I've laughed way harder than I should've at 12:10 😂

As pure as it stylistically and mechanically gets, for sure 😁
They sound great but I hear they're a nightmare to maintain

Another good reason why you need a manual transmission on a performance vehicle, there’s no substitute.
I always wanted a F355 Spider since a kid! Gated shifter is a dream!!!
But terrible steering wheel !
@@antonmk1244 not as bad as you think

One of the best sounding V8s Ferrari has ever built
The 360 ferrari is the biggest leap that Ferrari made. Its night and day difference to the 355 although it does look real nice on the outside
It's basically the basis for all of their mid-engine V8's from then on, this was the last of the old school design.
Love the "clicky" shifter. Gated for the win. Awesome vid brotherman.
I wish cars like this were still being built today. I have a BMW e88 125i 6 cylinder naturally aspirated and manual. That is pure driving
I appreciate your content Tedward. Currently own a 2005 Toyota Camry and watching you drive all these other cars inspires a 25 year old like me to work harder towards something
Beautiful summer weather, beautiful car, beautiful sound. What else could one ask for?
very satisfying raspy engine, also love 360 modena metallic-ish sound though

What an amazing automobile, so visceral and I’m sure engaging with that gated 6 speed! I’m very jealous. What a masterpiece.
This is really a charming car. Modern cars are good but they don't have quite the charm to them but old school cars have tons of it❤❤
I love this car so much since I saw it in need for speed high stakes. Great video
the gated shifter is so cool
Could listen to this the whole day, great video 👍

Driving a 355 Spider, with a Tubi exhaust, through a 1.25 mile long tunnel was a highlight of my life.

My dream car, after watching Clarkson review it, I spent so many hours on sites like streetfire back in the day watching it.
The F355 has always been my favorite Ferrari, one of the sexiest exhaust notes ever in my book ❤
Ferrari f355 engine note , the epitome of any super car in a Micheal Bay film
Got to hear a 355 challenge car rev at a car show a couple years back, about killed my ears but it was very much worth it haha
This car is quite a sendoff to my childhood in the late 90s. Nostalgia!

Best era of Ferrari by far. One of the last true to form models

this has to be a perfect drivers car, not insanely fast, but awesome sounds and roof off. Oh and that awesome shifter.

Absolutely not true. They are Ferrari-specific stalks. Although Fiat Coupe's were similar, still not the same as any Fiat.

watching this after the F550 video, the F355 just doesn't seem to hit the same. V12 is just a great sounding engine.

Apparently this Ferrari does 15mph in neutral / park. Sonic level. I'm fast as fuck boy.
