  • Here’s something healthy, simple and delicious you can make for breakfast every day and never get tired of: soy milk, called duyu (두유) in Korean. It’s a nutty blend of beans and nuts that has a lot of fiber and protein and is really good for you.
    Full recipe: www.maangchi.com/recipe/duyu
    There’s no milk in it at all, even though it look like foamy latte milk and goes down very smooth and creamy.

    I am so happy I finally tried this recipe! As I've gotten older it's been harder for me to process dairy, but I love milk. Most non-dairy milks have an aftertaste I don't care for, and they don't have the tangy, refreshing taste that I like. This recipe DOES! I was so surprised. My blender doesn't blend super finely, so I strained out the large chunks of soybean and nuts (I freeze them to use later) that settle on the bottom to make it smooth all the way through. It's the perfect replacement for dairy milk. I doubled the recipe to make a whole pitcher for my fridge, and I can't wait to make another batch!

Then the lady next to me told me her life story of how tough life she had but still tried so hard to survive and told me to eat the orange to gain appetite and the strong flavor will hurt me less. I adjusted recipe. Ended up with just a little over 1 cup after soaking. I made this with black sesame , walnuts and Added agave. At 15 mins mine did not bubble so I boiled longer. So easy! I used to buy this but I dont like carrageenan. This is tastier. Thank you

    Thanks maangchi, I'm from Nigeria i bumped into your channel a few days ago and the first recipe that caught me was
    Duyu, most of your ingredient are hard to get in my country and when you do find them, very expensive. but i decided i will improvice or come up with something similar, where i cant find the recipe. any way this is to let you know that i tried the soy milk but without sesame seed just unsalted cashew nut and salt and it was heavenly. thank you so much for sharing your recipes, now i enjoy cooking.

    I have a soymilk maker but thought I would see your method anyway. Wow, what a great tip to flavor with sesame! I also like that you didn't strain the fiber out. I think I will try this for a filling while still low calorie, fiber rich and protein full liquid breakfast. You are such a kind person 🤗 hugs from Florida, USA.

    • @chekskidsmood

      It's always good to strain the fiber after blending. It gives it a perfect texture

    • @maryanneochala
      @maryanneochala Год назад

      @@chekskidsmood @Okeke Chekwube She isn't trying to achieve a "perfect texture" that's why she didn't strain the fiber and some people have no problem with ingesting fiber. This is the Korean version of soy milk, you weren't listening. When you make yours, you can strain the fiber. This method is great the way it is.

    BTW, thanks for this recipe Maangchi and to your friend who lives in New York who taught you this. Thanks for the recipe and I'll check out our local market if they sell some soy beans. (^_^)
