  • Here’s something healthy, simple and delicious you can make for breakfast every day and never get tired of: soy milk, called duyu (두유) in Korean. It’s a nutty blend of beans and nuts that has a lot of fiber and protein and is really good for you.
    Full recipe: www.maangchi.co...
    There’s no milk in it at all, even though it look like foamy latte milk and goes down very smooth and creamy.

    I am so happy I finally tried this recipe! As I've gotten older it's been harder for me to process dairy, but I love milk. Most non-dairy milks have an aftertaste I don't care for, and they don't have the tangy, refreshing taste that I like. This recipe DOES! I was so surprised. My blender doesn't blend super finely, so I strained out the large chunks of soybean and nuts (I freeze them to use later) that settle on the bottom to make it smooth all the way through. It's the perfect replacement for dairy milk. I doubled the recipe to make a whole pitcher for my fridge, and I can't wait to make another batch!

Then the lady next to me told me her life story of how tough life she had but still tried so hard to survive and told me to eat the orange to gain appetite and the strong flavor will hurt me less. But I found out I don't need to remove the skins anymore because these days blender quality is so good (vitamix) that I can grind the whole beans including the skins very nicely until creamy.

    Try draining the beans when they are soaked, and then pouring 4 or 5 cups of boiling water on the beans. Let cool enough and the skins will rub off easily. And thanks for all the delicious recipes!

    i love making soymilk! i use to do it all the time with my mom when i was younger. But the method is so different!
    we soak it over night, then blend the soybeans with water until it is thoroughly blended. Then use a cheese cloth to separate the small bean pieces (optional) then we boil it. you have to constantly stir it and watch it. you know its done when it comes to a boil and it quickly begins to overflows. and we use yellow rock sugar for sweetness (add into pot before boiling).
    we make them in batches and leave it in the fridge to chill. so you can have it fresh and hot or chilled later on. and it usually lasts for about 1 week before it goes bad.

    • @amandasole6966
      @amandasole6966 8 лет назад

      When I find the soybeans I will definitely try your recipe too :) Did you also add other nuts when boiled?

    • @VIPyellowwolfy21
      @VIPyellowwolfy21 8 лет назад +1

      Amanda Sole we dont use nuts but if you really want to i think you would have to either blend it with the soy bean and water first then boil it. but i think if you want a nuttier flavor to it without the solids from the soybeans, blend the soybeans and water first, drain it then blend the drained mixture with the nut and then boil it. try it in small batches to see which method you prefer :)
