Sounds like a really great time. Good point on the multiple copies. I sometimes okay always have difficulty with narrowing down. I usually have multiple copies with different unique features. Thank You

Hi Tim, a fantastic selection of records and interesting stories. Also, a plesantly surprising transition from Bob Dylan to The Dead Kennedys! The Ramones 'Rocket to Russia' album is an outright classic.

You know, the CBS 1/2 speed is actually quite excellent! I compared my copy to the recent Chris Bellman release and it totally blew the Chris Bellman away. *HUGE* soundstage, great open detail and dynamics, bloody amazing! After hearing that on my system, I dismissed any thoughts about missing out on the Mystical 1-Step... (two tall multi-driver open baffle dipole line arrays with 13 drivers a side driven by an Ayon Orion II all tube Class 'A' amp + 2-15" dipole woofers separately biamped by a Crown 2502) But, I bet that Japan Quad sounds very nice! 😁

That Chris Bellman is hard to beat. Many find that to be the best. I might agree.

Very cool video Tim...we are walking a VERY similar path with regards to vinyl, playback equipment and downsizing! Love your channel brother.

Thanks Tim! Re taking a chance on an unknown album, I often stream some snippets to get a feel before picking up...if I have the time.

Tim: Honey, let’s go out to brunch and spend time together.
Fast forward to the drive there…
Tim: oh look Honey, a records store. Let’s stop for a minute.

Yer lucky. I have ONE resale shop that carries vinyl near me. And they overprice and really don't have anything much. Mostly the same stuff Walmart has. I miss Detroit and it's record scene big time. But here in Midland ? The one 40 year old record store closed when I moved here . I only got to visit it once . Nice finds !

My find this weekend was a Byrds - Fifth Dimension OG mono in nice shape. Took forever, for some reason Byrds best albums like Fifth Dimension and Notorious Byrds Brothers are hard to find where I am

Great post Tim - a wide variety made it very interesting. You deserve the rare finds you come across, you put a lot of time and effort into it!

Hey Tim. When you held up the cover I couldn't help noticing a slight resemblance to the kid on the front of "1984" lol. If you said it was you as a kid I'd believe you. I'm going to check out the XTC album tomorrow. I have English Settlement and a few others but I don't think I've ever heard Apple Venus.

If you get an opportunity, pick up a Nautilus pressing of Harvest. Sounds amazing. I liked it better than the SM pressing. 🤷

No Tim... You frigg'n *LOVE* to brag! 😁 I SWEAR man... When God was distributing record stores and realized that He had about 175 left over, since he was quitting for the day, He just said, 'Oh heck, just drop them all in Colorado...' 🙄
Very nice finds on the Echo and the Bunnymen and also, another BIG Tim surprise, of all things, *THE DEAD KENNEDYS!* Wow... Mr. Dylan and Steely Dan lover shocks us again! 👍 Yep, I have 1st pressings of all 3 of those (and others from both groups) that I happened to pick up at the time.

I highly doubt that the MoFi one step of 1984 will beat the original all analog Quiex pressing.

Just curious, what happens when you find a record that you really want and it has some surface noise or a few creases, do you just leave it behind?

    • @Universityofvinyl
      @Universityofvinyl  Месяц назад

Case by case basis - I’m pretty particular and will usually only buy a record in VG+ or better shape. Covers are less important especially if the record is rare or hard to find.
