I was introduced to Friends of Mr. Cairo when I heard I'll Find My Way Home on WXRT Chicago. I picked up the LP and realized I had stumbled onto an audio goldmine. I played just about every track, some several times, on my radio show on WBAA. Those were the days!

At a party one night with a big group of Polish Expats, talking about music and the guy I'm talking to brings up The Friends of Mr. Cairo. "If you put that on," he says, "it will seduce every Polish woman of a certain age." Next time I saw a copy, I picked it up, just to hear what the magic was.

I played side one of the B52s all the time when I bought it. I didn’t care for School’s Out but thought Billion Dollars Babies and Killers were great. I played Violator a lot but of course on CD. Surprised to see Body Heat. I love that record. I played the Smiths a lot back in the 80’s. Again, I prefer First Winter and Second Winter.

First time watching this video and I can agree that Tergikleen is freakin awesome! I won’t use anything else. I use it with my VPI 16.5 machine, but recently waiting for an ultrasonic cleaner to arrive in the next few days. I’m planning on using it with the VPI. May seem like overkill to some, but records can never be too clean. I bought it pretty cheap, so we’ll see. Anyways, used many cleaning solutions- both expensive and cheap, homemade and store bought, and hands down, Tergikleen is the winner!

Ron - Loved your video, and you are turning me on to some records I may have missed. For me, I would have to add both Led Zeppelin (I) and Led Zeppelin II. As a 15 year old in 1970, I had never heard such intense music - rock, blues, Plant's crying voice, and the drum rhythms. Couldn't get them off of my turntable, and still listen to them today!

Cosmo's Factory was one of the first LPs my dad ever bought. I think the story is he heard "Ramble Tamble" on WNEW (a famous rock station in the NY metro back in the day) while listening to his transistor radio in bed one night and then knew he needed the album. It was also an album he got me into at a young age. I really owe him for my whole rekkid obsession.

Another great video, Ron! Man, I love that Elvis Costello -- Get Happy. It's my favorite Elvis Costello and I have all of his releases with The Attractions. My U.S. OG of Get Happy sounds cool. That song New Amsterdam got stuck in my head when I got the album when it first came out and to this day, sometimes that melody rolls around in my brain over and over, which I really don't mind because I love the song so much. Yeah, I love Tarkus, too, awesome ELP album. That Joni album Court & Spark is one of my faves, as well. I got the anniversary reissue of Nirvana -- Nevermind and wow, it reminds me of how good those songs were. Cobain was a top notch songwriter. Pink Floyd -- Animals, awesome, could listen on repeat. Oh and Roxy Music -- Avalon, like you I was obsessed. Still got my OG. Tattoo You, love it. I could never get enough of Steely Dan, all titles. Robin Trower -- Bridge of Sighs, wow, that was a big stoner album back in the day. I've still got my OG. My friend Danny in college was big into The Beatles like me, but we were also obsessed with early Peter Gabriel records, especially the fourth one, Security, which we used to listen to very loud. I remember one day Danny called me and said, "You have to come over and hear this new Peter Gabriel record I got." I said, "He put out another one already? We just got Security." He says, "Yeah, but this is the German version. He sings all the songs in German and the album packs more punch than the English version." So, that was a fun day and man, did we crank that up loud on his stereo! Those were the days. That Peter Gabriel Security is an example of one of my 'obsessed with' records, I guess because was I young, into music, and my friend and I thought it rocked hard. Shock the Monkey! Later, Ron.

Hi Ron Just wanted to let you know the latest Hawkwind album is, incredibly, one of their strongest for many decades and now resides in my top 5 of their studio albums. The Porcupine Tree album shown is, for me, their best. I remember seeing the band back in around November 1996 and they played in what looked like an old disused church. When we left the gig the mist was encircling the tombstones making for a very creepy atmosphere. You've never seen so many people walking 'exceptionally quickly' past these hallowed grounds whilst trying to keep their dignity

@@RocknRonni Well I'm of a certain vintage (born the day Buddy Holly died so not much of a swap) and gearing up to a 3-day music festival in Canterbury (Kent) on Friday. Sympathise with your comment re attending live music gigs but at least this festival is dedicated for us 'older' fans with the likes of Focus, Caravan, Ozric Tentacles, Lindisfarne etc. I feel that these bands are coming to an end of the road so want to celebrate their music in what are exceptionally beautiful surroundings. My thanks to Melinda Murphy for recommending you. Royal Scam is by far my favorite Steely Dan Album and a Top 10 album of all time. Haitian Divorce is the perfect SD song! I am also finally primed to discover Porcupine Tree for the first time ever. Thx! One of my top bands of all time is Renaissance, particularly "Ashes are Burning" (and the live version of that song on the Carnegie album) and "Turn of the Cards," but I hear so little about them. Annie Haslam's voice just kills me and the arrangements flow so beautifully. Any familiarity?

You know something Ronnie, I saw Hawkwind in 70 or 71 and I never heard from them again until I joined the VC and you guys started showing them. None of my friends were into them at all. Yeah Morphine is a new band for me that I discovered about 5 years ago. Love them. Joni Mitchell huh. I tossed a dime into her guitar case when she was busking down in Yorkville Village in 65. Uriah Heep ruined my hearing down at Massey Hall in 72 they were so loud.

Heh, I have one that is close to one of yours. I played The B-52's Wild Planet CONSTANTLY! Man, I love that album 😁 Yep, Violator was the same for me! Played it a lot! In my lowly and wretched opinion by far their very best. Hmmm... I have almost all of Hawkwind's albums in lossless FLAC. Just giving the one a listen, I rather like it! The Back in Black 2-LP Red vinyl pressing you have is now going for over $100. Love Morphine! I have a few of their albums.
Believe it or not, I actually have a 1st US pressing of Nevermind. I won't tell you what they are going for now... 😊 I actually played Nazareth's Hair of the Dog a lot at the time. I'm not one usually to listen to slower stuff, but I feel that Avalon is one of THE most beautiful albums I've ever heard. Ah, Bridge of Sighs... I have a 1st UK pressing (I actually have 1st UK pressings of his first four albums) probably one of *THE* greatest albums ever made. He is my very favourite guitarist of that post Jimi Hendrix style! His latest is actually quite good! Very bluesy. And of course, *Zappa ALWAYS!* 👍 I must have EVERY damn album by him.
Okay, if you are interested, I'll put 10 albums that I can think of right now that I listened to a LOT when I got them:
TALKING HEADS: Remain In Light (I still feel it is probably one of the greatest albums ever made - most definitely in my personal top 10 out of over 2500 albums that I have on vinyl)
DAVID BYRNE / BRIAN ENO: My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts (same as above - phenomenal album!)
    B-52-s: Wild Planet
    RUSH: 2112
    AEROSMITH: Rocks
JAN HAMMER / NEAL SCHON: Untold Passion (Definitely in my personal top 20 all time albums)
    OZRIC TENTACLES: (any album, anytime)
MC 900 ft JESUS: Hell With The Lid Off (Brilliant!)
A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS: Either 1st or 2nd album
MILES DAVIS: In A Silent Way
***BONUS --- FRANK ZAPPA: Ship Arriving Too Late To Save A Drowning Witch
Probably a HELL of a lot more! 😁

Yeah I think I actually had wild planet before I got the first record with planet Claire on it played them both a lot you named a lot of good records there I made sure that I named both the band and the artist because I noticed on the last video forgot to describe a few records some titles are so well known by me that I forget not everybody knows these records as well as I do.
so I'm trying to do a much better job. I still forgot to put the list comment section but I'm trying to do a better job of describing the title and the artist thanks so much for your input on that ❤️

Hi Ron, another great selection. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is a great album. That guitar riff on "A National Accrobat" as well as Rick Wakeman's contribution on "Who Are You" are just amazing. I listened to this record sooo many times when i was introduced to it. CCR, what a band, whatan era! Alice Cooper, i wish i had lived in the 70s only for a chance to attend one of his concert to see how the "character" he was playing on stage with his snake and stuffs was entertaining. I'm twice 18y though i still got "baby's brain in an old man's heart".

Ive watched many of these vids on this subject and you have the best picks. Two comments. Love It To Death is far better, as is Killer. Moontan is the most under rated lp in rock. I have the same version you do. In 1978 I drove from NE Vermont to the Bay Area and my tape player ate all my tapes except Moontan. From about New Mexico to Travis AFB all I had was Moontan. Love it.

Have your musical tastes changed at all over the years? Some of the bands I used to love, I can't bring myself to listen to anymore. Of the records you showed, I probably listened to that T. Rex album the most, or the Creedence album. But Green River is my favorite Creedence album.

Yes Green River is great and I've noticed lately I'm not buying the hard and heavy stuff like I used to I'm buying more jazz records, blues, big band records.
bands that play lighter more folksy music. I'm looking for great musicianship Great sounding records and interesting vocal styles because they just don't make music like this anymore anytime I put these records on though I still love them they're all great.

Yeah that was the album I talked about at the beginning The band called Can with their soundtracks album.
yeah I just wanted a little background music nothing too much to confused the listener as to what I was saying.
It's aggravating for me when some RUclips content creators make videos where in the background the music is so dang loud you can't hardly understand what they're saying.
Thank you so much for inquiring about the music that's why I identified the music at the beginning so folks could if they thought it sounded interesting they could go and listen to it for themselves.
Appreciate the feedback just the kind of information I'm looking for.
