    I know nearly all of those records very well. It was great to see Alex Harvey get a mention. I saw SAHB in Liverpool in 1975 on the tour where the live album was recorded. They were superb. If I were to choose one record of theirs, though, it would be Next. I saw them again when they were one of the support bands for The Who at Charlton Athletic F.C. I blame that concert for my later hearing loss. That and Led Zeppelin at Earls Court. Both left my ears ringing for days.
    You have a great collection there.

    What a superb list, Camel’s Mirage is one of my top five albums. Never thought I would hear anyone mention
    Audience’s House on the Hill - been a while since I listened to it. Now no boast but I loved Black Sabbath when only
    a handful of people had heard of them, saw them at Greens in Glasgow, I have the original A1 - B1 pressing and was offered
    a large sum of money for it. Used to go and see Stone the Crows a Scottish band, Leslie Harvey guitarist (Alex Harvey’s brother
    tragically died on stage). Had originals of Roxy Music, Cat Stevens, Dark Side of the Moon and others on your list.
    So so many great albums, superb selection.

    Welcome back Ron!! I'm still looking for Captain Beyond's debut on vinyl. BTW great list in which i have most in my collection as well but with the notable exception of Pink Floyd. Yep sorry but i just can't 'get' this band...maybe one day. You mentioned the lyrics in the SAHB'S Framed album. I think 'The Tale Of The Giant Stone Eater' from the band's 'The Impossible Dream' album are the weirdest I've ever heard. Just as an aside when we were in the local pub i suggested we create our ultimate c.d. The rules were simple...the playing time had to be < 80mins and only 1 track per band / artist. Created a very interesting discussion so maybe one day you could consider a video of your ultimate c.d ? I know we prefer vinyl but i think a c.d. version is more convenient. Anyway thanks again for the video Ron.

  • @latheofheaven
    @latheofheaven Год назад

    Hey Bro! It's awesome to see you again, it's about time mate! 😁 Many great albums. I took note of some I've never seen like the Captain Beyond, I think I'm gonna like that. And, the Manfred Mann album, I've not really taken the time to check his out. I sampled both, and I liked what I heard so far. You know, a couple of years ago I was able to get a pristine Classic Records Zeppelin IV like you showed and for a good price. But, for some odd reason it did not sound very good. My early Porky/Pecko easily bested it, so I sold it. It's worth double that now. Odd too, because I have the Quiex Classic Records pressings of I, V, & VII and they all sound very good. I guess unfortunately I just got a bad one, I don't know... 😕
    I also used to have a DCC pressing of Aqualung which many really go for. I bought it new long ago. But, on my system anyway it just struck me as rather dead and lifeless sounding. I traded it to a nice fellow on the Steve Hoffman Forums for some lovely albums. I got a pristine MFSL pressing of Dead Can Dance: Into the Labyrinth which sounds bloody amazing! I also got a nice superiour sounding UK R.A.Y.E.S pressing of RUSH: Permanent Waves which also sounds great! And I got a nice clean early pressing of Cannonball Adderley's Mercy, Mercy, Mercy. Not a bad trade for an album that I didn't like the sound of 😀 I DO have a MFSL original pressing of Aqualung which I feel sounds a lot more dynamic and lively.
    PLEASE keep the excellent videos coming. I really love your laid-back and very pleasant style, more than most here. So, I REALLY look very much forward to seeing what you have in store for us 😊 Oh, and I really liked the Jazz you had playing in the background, very nice!

    • @RocknRonni
      @RocknRonni  Год назад +1

      Thanks bro you had inspired me to make a video with your last comment thanks so much also if you can pick up the classic records edition of aqualung can be expensive that is the best I have found and that 2011 Steve Wilson remix is very good you might enjoy that better I have never heard the mofai it's probably sounds fantastic. I'm at the point where if I have a very good sounding copy that I like I don't want to go out and spend a bunch of more money for something that might be a Little better here or there

    • @latheofheaven
      @latheofheaven Год назад

      @@RocknRonni I'm glad you felt motivated! 😁 I Fully agree... I too am satisfied when I have what I feel is a good sounding copy. Not too keen on the Steve Wilson remix of Aqualung, people are a bit divided on that one. However, I do have his remix of one of my very favourite Tull albums Stormwatch and his 5.1 mix, and both of those do sound quite good through my system. By the way, I don't THINK I've mentioned this before, if I have then please excuse me... But, is there a way I can send you a link to pictures of my Soundroon System & Collections, just in case you were super bored one day and had absolutely *NOTHING* better to do 😊 Actually, if you want, there are also links underneath all of my videos if you wanna take a look. Keep up the great work Ron, you are still my favourite to watch! Let it Bleed is one of the best albums ever made. I often think It’s a bit of a shame that Country Honk isn’t anywhere near as good as Honky Tonk Women (in my opinion!) and the live version of Midnight Rambler is the definitive version, but it’s still a brilliant album. Hi Ron. I want to put this nicely but Mazzy had nice little personal stories on his thread which it would've been nice to have heard. My friend in the UK here watches you and he really likes your videos and you've helped him with particularly prog and pressings info from what i understand. I don't have the time to watch so many videos and i tend to stick more to British channels especially as I've met up with the guys few times now. Sorry not being too critical here but felt you went over the ten slightly i know its not a competition contest so no rules i guess. How did you get into records? Was it a long long time ago or resurgence recently? Anyway i have dropped in occasionally now and again. Regards, Martin.

      Hey Martin thanks for the the tip about the stories I did tell one little story about my tragically hip record I hope that helps a little bit it's very hard for me to narrow it down to 10 records.
      I have a number of videos like this and I don't pay attention to the number I'm not trying to enter a contest I'm just making a video and doing my best, of course I do appreciate your suggestion.
      I have been buying records like I said about the Grand funk record and the deja vu album I bought them new in 1970 when they came out. My mother had joined the record club earlier in about 67 and I got some records back then too the birds, mamas and papas, Sonny and Cher stuff like that. Bought my first stereo when I was 18 years old Onkyo receiver Akai turntable, Sony reel to reel. Started working in a stereo shop selling Hi-Fi gear when I was 19 years old.
      I have always been interested in great sounding records. thanks for leaving such a great comment inspired me.
      I will try to include more personal background information if you think that will help build interest in the video. 😊 Also I have made other videos that included these records and have told stories about different titles at different times I don't want to be repeating myself the same thing on every video.
      I do appreciate your insight. I did have a fellow a few years ago Tell me he wanted me to tell more times when there was funny stories around the record or bloopers or those types of things and I did include that on one video when I had thought about some funny incidents around the record so suggestions help more than you think. Thank you, Martin appreciate you
