I'm laughing as I say this, but I truly think that you guys are part of the reason the lounges are more crowded now. I never thought lounges were accessible to me until I started following your travel journey years ago. You gave us that secret, and it's not a secret anymore. No regrets though. I get in 95% of the time, and that's not bad odds.

In the UK, the majority of airport lounges that aren’t airline specific, have waiting lists because a lot of people either book it themselves online in advance for around £40 or it comes included with people’s holiday package when they book with a travel agent.

I’ve had priority pass for 6 years and it has definitely gotten way more popular over the last couple of years. The lounges are always overcrowded now and there is a solid chance that if you’re flying over a weekend that there will be a wait to get in

Woohoo! A double feature Saturday with Kara and Nate! 🎉 This one was quite informative. 1. I didn't know that lounges could be wait-listed when full...what? It is not guaranteed entry? Well, I guess it makes sense because, during busy times, I can imagine it gets full and they have to manage it. Okay. 2. The Transfer partner cheatsheet ❤ A must-have! I never imagined myself ever traveling on Jet Blue however, the comparison of Southwest to Jet Blue, makes me want to give it a try. Onwards to the look for the Kara and Nate main channel video! What a great start to a 3 day weekend! 🥰

Definitely agree on priority pass - I used to use it almost every trip, but now I find it either (a) is too busy to get into the lounge like you mentioned or (b) the lounge that you can access through it is just really subpar or in a terminal so far away it doesn't make sense to use.

Yes, I had the same experience with the Priority Pass during a departure at the Cancun airport. The lounge was too busy during the lunch hour rush and we were asked to be on a wait list which could take 2 hours.
Because Amx Platinum stopped giving free access to the guests of the cardholder, I had to add my husband as an additional card holder which cost $175/yr which was not too bad considering the single pass to the lounge is $50-60 pp. However, during our recent layover (again at lunch time) in Houston, we had to wait in line for about 20-30 minutes to be allowed in. Not the best scenarios to have when you pay $800+ per year to have the perks that a lot of time don't work

I agree about eastbound 7 hour flights. We go to Florida regularly and the jet lag on the way back is horrendous (not helped by the fact we always go economy!).
Went to LA a few years back and the jet lag coming home was fine.
I put it down to the fact that a Florida flight arrives around 6am then you have the whole day to get through, whereas the west coast flights land mid afternoon.

Going to have to try JetBlue mint. Just flew to london last month and immediately took the tube to kings cross and jumped on a train to Glasgow. Was the perfect way to cure jet lag because we’d been up for over 24 hours by the time we got to our hotel in Glasgow but it was 8 pm so we could shower and go straight to bed. Slept for 10 hours straight and were perky and ready to sightsee the next morning.

Yes we've had more problems being waitlisted for both PP and Centurion lounges recently. I flew back from Alaska and didn't have long layovers and needed some food quickly. I ended up buying McD (ugh) because that was the only option I could get quick enough. DH said the wait for the Centurion lounge was not short.

In general, I found non-Amex PPS is a lot more useful than the Amex ones. The PPS card came with Chase Sapphire Reserve can be used for restaurant as well besides lounge. In Boston, there's a restaurant called Stephanie's and with non-Amex PPS, you can get $25ish dollar per person for 2. Plus, I've seen PP lounge put a sign out that specifically says no Amex PP is accepted at this time. Furthermore, since I live in Boston, I can't wait to experience the new Chase Sapphire lounge.

  • @paigestatham6363

Yes we have a priority pass with used it in Florida and in Buffalo New York, we had about a 30 minute wait to get into the Florida which left us with about 45 minutes until we needed to board our flight got delayed, so on the positive side our flight was delayed so we stayed in the lounge for a little longer. We actually walked out of the lounge went to a gate saw it was delayed, went up to the desk and were able to walk straight back in and skip the line they was still existing. Then when we used it in Buffalo New York the lounge came in really handy when we were delayed over five hours, breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks all day made the wait bearable.
There are 100% better lounges, but we’ve been inside the lounge each time that our flights have been delayed

The only place I've ever had issues with PP is at Heathrow - I think that Heathrow is just so overworked at the moment. But it is definitely frustrating as I justify my CC annual fee by the money that I save on food at airports by eating in lounges!

      @DailyDrop  11 месяцев назад +1

  • @brianking768
    @brianking768 11 месяцев назад

I have 2 Priority Pass memberships because of the AmEx Platinum and the Venture X. First, both the Centurion and the CapOne Lounge in Dallas are crowded. The Centurion always has a wait. The CapOne has a wait in the afternoons or if there’s weather. My experience with Priority Pass is largely positive but have had to wait in various airports over the years. Some of the Priority Pass lounges are major airline lounges that open to pass members in off hours or when not too busy. During the off hours, the food is worse too. Bottom line, I think of priority pass lounge access as a bonus of the credit card. I would never pay for a priority pass membership separately.

I used to fly Jet Blue a lot from my favorite airport from Orlando to Costa Rica, after a fly down to from Alaska, cheap, and fun... well the cheap ended. Reminded me a little of Alaska Airlines, although we could never count on good fares within the state, anywhere down below was great prices... and gone is the Champaign and Fresh Halibut, and they were never there with Jet Blue unless now of course you do the luxury points!

I have a free Priority Pass via Chase Sapphire Reserve. In March, flying from Maui to JFK, we had a layover on Oahu. That was the first time I encountered the "no room at the inn, get on a list" experience. I had never had in the previous six years. I think more and more people are getting hip to the lounges, so maybe it's something we will now be experiencing more and more.

I flew in the mint studio from JFK to London. It was really fantastic and was 1/3 the price of any other airline to Europe. One great thing about JetBlue is they pool all family points (if you want) to use by anyone. So two credit cards = more points to share!! Though no lounge, at JFK there is an outdoor space to hang out which was fantastic. Highly recommend.

Priority Pass member here: To your question Nate - YES. But with the caveat I have only been denied access to lounges in the US. Europe, Middle East, no problem. But I have been denied by literally all domestic lounges with my PP, mainly due to over crowding. In NYC, I was straight up told they were specifically not allowing PP. I have thought about contacting PP about this but didn't want to make a fuss.

As a pilot you're right about sitting in business class getting the looks. Especially in uniform if deadheading and some smartarse always has to chime in about being in the wrong seat or "shouldn't you be up the front". Frankly though if I'm paxing due work or personal I never have once taken advantage of priority boarding. I'll just have a coffee and wait for the line to die off a bit.

Lounges partnered with the Priority Pass network straight-up rejecting Priority Pass customers is really becoming a common occurrence. Flew from JFK a few weeks ago to FLR and luckily I had a business class ticket because the attendants at the Air France lounge at T1 were rejecting Priority Pass customers like they would be fired on the spot if they accepted even one PP customer.
This also happened on my return flight from FCO to JFK at the Plaza Premium lounge as they only allowed people with business/first class tickets access. There was a line when I arrived at the lounge as the attendants told them to form a line. When I left 3 hours later, the line did not move at all.
I think Priority Pass has reached its limit when partners just reject serving customers.

Just had a waitlist for a seriously sad Priority Pass lounge at DFW a couple weeks ago. Thank goodness our Turkish Air Business lounge access came through for a way better lounge!

So I have Priority Pass, and I'm debating if I am going to renew it next month. At DFW, my home airport, the only "lounge" is in the international terminal, it's tiny, loud because it's not enclosed (although supposedly you can book rooms in the lounge, I haven't figured that out how to yet), and awful food (good drinks though). They got maybe a dozen seats in the lounge itself, not sure how many are in the rooms.
Elsewhere at DFW, they got places where you can get free stuff. Like in the terminal I normally fly in and out of, they got the Minute Suite. However these are usually full.
Dallas Love Field, where I go if I want to fly Southwest, has no lounges.
The two airports I fly into the most, Nashville and Tucson, have no Priority Pass lounges (Nashville at least does have Minute Suite, but last time I had to wait 90 minutes to get in). Raleigh also had no Priority Pass lounge (I was actually really mad there because I had American Airlines first class ticket, but wasn't allowed in the lounge because it was a domestic flight and was told I either had to be flying international or have a membership).
Dublin has two decent Priority Pass lounges, but I flew in during peak travel time and so I wasn't able to get in on my way in because they were full. On my way back, however, it was right after the summer rush, airport was much calmer and I had no issues.
Zurich Priority Pass lounges were amazing! Multiple lounges at each terminal, runway views, great food and service, spacious and quiet. Seriously if more places had lounges like Zurich, I would have no issues with keeping Priority Pass.
Auckland, I couldn't find the lounge. Directions in the app were horrible, and it seemed like the lounge was near the duty free shop instead of near the gates (it's quite a walk from the duty free shop to the gates so I didn't want to chance missing my flight), and the signs in the airport also were not helpful, took me to what looked like a janitor closet.
So, I just don't know if I am going to keep priority pass. They need more lounges (you have been to DFW, imagine flying a domestic flight but knowing the only priority pass lounge is in terminal D) in the airports they are in, need lounges in other airports (seriously I cannot believe Nashville doesn't have one), and the lounges they do have usually need a makeover

I flew from Montréal earlier this month and we were turned away from the 2 Priority Pass and Amex Platinum lounges because they were too busy.. it was the first time this happened to us ever in over 10 years.

We have found the Priority Pass Lounges few and far between at the airports we have been to in the US.

Pax with a PP were the first to get lounge access denied, in mixed use lounges during the peak periods.

RE: Priority Pass - YES, over-crowding and long wait times are more and more of an occurrence in my experiences regardless of lounge/airport. I do feel lucky when I can get in, but also I've noticed a few times where the lounge attendant managing the flow of traffic treats me slightly differently as soon as I bust out my Priority Pass membership lol - Their entire demeanor changes and I'm made to feel like I'm trying to pay with an EBT card at McDonald's

I have found more lately that some of the opportunities with the Priority Pass are limited. As an example I was in St. Louis this week and a Restaurant was supposed to be included to get food up to $28 for free because of my Priority Pass but there was a note on the outside of the restaurant that said they were not excepting priority pass. I think the waiting list situation is happening due to the increase in travel this year. I heard we are at levels now higher than in 2019.

I’ve had issues twice. Once last year at London Heathrow. We had to wait 30 minutes. I’m guessing people tried to escape the crowds while the world was opening up again. The second time was 3 months later at London Gatwick. The lounges were closed even though they were advertised online as open. There were some people who’d even paid the booking fee. But I haven’t had any issues since.

Interesting…it definitely seems to be a pretty sporadic thing!

I got the priority pass based on your recommendation years ago, but YES we have more recently come across the issue of not being allowed entry due to over capacity. It's happened 3x in thIs last year. Might cancel.

I have a priority pass and have never been able to enter a lounge (have tried 3 times, always too full) plus you used to get credit at select Restaurants in the airport and the last flights I took, the restaurant credit was no longer offered. The Priority Pass used to be good but is junk now.

When you think about it, seeing its 2023 ordering your meals on your seatback screens just...makes sense...i dont know why I didn't think of it before but now Im wondering why more airlines dont have it! It must make it easier for the flight attendants too as they don't have to go to every seat to take orders anymore

Good video. NOTE to editor. Nate says he flew MINT from LA to San Francisco (or opposite) but map shows LA to New York. La/Sf is not impressive flight, only about an hour, wouldn't be worth spending points for MINT.

I'm beginning to think the PP (priority pass) is becoming a less of a perk for card holders. I've hear of so many times people being turned away due to "capacity" at lounges or just straight out denying the pass holders outright even though they were supposed to accept them. I've had to wait in a long line only once, but I don't fly a lot.
