I wouldn't doubt that the glug glug glug handshake that Bob Hoskins and john leguizamo do is a little in joke for them getting drunk in between takes being that the word glug usually is the sound for drinking.

Hoskins and Leguizamo's little gibberish "catchprhase" thing was actually the words "Glug, glug, glug, glug," which was an in-joke reference to their offscreen drinking.
I really liked this movie as a kid, saw it in the theater. Never understood the extreme negativity it attracted. Glad it's being appreciated more so now.
@1:37:19 that whole wanted poster gag just made flashback to the first few episodes of Dragon Ball GT, when Goku, Trunks, and Pan are on the run from the law on an alien planet and something similar happens.

Honestly I think one of the best blink and you moss it moments ever comes in this movie when you see the Babomb stop underneath Koopa and look at its feet. They put the Reebok logo put on its feet.
rewatching this movie as an adult feels like a fever dream. You two got it right when you said this movie wants to f-ck and that it really doesn't feel like Super Mario Bros (TM). Every scene has my jaw on the floor thinking "how the hell did they manage to get nintendo on board for this insanity???"

Went to see this with my dad and a bunch of my friends back in the day for my 10th birthday. Best day I can remember from my childhood and this movie will always have a big place in my heart.
I have this theory that if this wasn't trying to vaguely be a Mario movie, like if they had given them different names this movie might have done better, also I just noticed Toad was played by Mojo Nixon and I'm gonna paraphrase the Dead Milkmen and say if you de-evolve Mojo Nixon than your dimension needs a fiixin'
Man, whenever Fisher Stevens pops up, instantly think of him in "My Science Project"(basically House2 mixed with Weird Science).
My science project is such a great movie👍 and it also stars both Fisher Stevens and Dennis Hopper.

I thought it was a fun movie man. People keep shitting on everything like, what did you fucking expect, the game had no fucking plot to work with. The gameplay isn't that complicated, and there is no way they had a big enough budget to have bob hoskins run for 90 minutes stomping on people. He would have had heart attack trying to be an action hero.

I love this movie. It’s severely underrated. One of my favorite Dennis Hopper roles. Have you guys done My Science Project (1985) yet? Fisher Stevens(Iggy) and Dennis Hopper have memorable roles in this hidden gem.

This came out right when I graduated high skool (my go to at that time was the new Anthrax album lol) this couple wanted to take me out to a movie, but they absolutely refused to see this if I suggested it. We saw Guilty as Sin. When this came on cable I went ahead and watched it and it, and never bothered me. It was a goofy bad fun time. If it ever came back on, I watched it. Great episode🦖🍄
