I wish Josh had dragged him back to the desert before that man felt all alone. Lord knows we would've all honestly hugged him and watched his demons come out responsibly. Is there a Bourdain shaped heart in some people? Or just mine?
I teach English in China, and just showed this to a roomful of 12-14 year old students when they asked me what my home in America looks like. They were mesmerized, and all want to visit now... :)
Update: It's 8 years later. I moved back to the US with a wife and child last year... We've been in New England, but are moving out to the Arizona desert in a couple weeks. I turned to this video often when I was homesick over the years I was there, and also back here. I took my girls to visit in 2019 and they loved it. Now that the tensions between China and the US are at their highest level in decades, and those 12-14 year olds are now in their early 20's, I hope that when they hear someone going off about how outsiders can't be trusted, and the world beyond what they're familiar with is ugly, and terrifying, and bad, that some of them can at least vaguely remember that nice video that their teacher showed them about his home back in the American desert, and think that maybe there's a better future to be had finding commonality between people, than calling for war against them.
Josh is a big fan of the early ZZ Top records. The atmosphere of this one is reminiscent of Billy Gibbons' "Asleep in the Desert" from Tejas... Love it!
Just saw this episode again, haunted windchimes, the sad rhythm of the desert wind, and Anthony's music debut striking a piece of metal, a sound that will resonate forever.
I will bet my left nut he played this the other night and smiled back at his sad empty soul. You will be missed Tony. Thanks for signing my book back in 04 and giving me advice that day. Rock & Roll.
Anthony, you will be greatly missed. Thinking back to all of the meals I’ve quite literally shared while watching your shows brought me a tear to my eye while listening to this beautiful song from an equally beautiful episode of yours. May you RIP.
wow i really hope you dont need drugs to appreciate anything this man touches the simple fact he doesnt limit himself to anyone or anything. i jut hope enough people realize before it is too late so many times does that happen. i am glad i didnt miss it. it is just so hard to keep up with what he does.
... probably people that would be admired by AB - if for no other reason than their apparent penchant for nonconformity. Doesn't mean they're not psychotics or d-bags.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to the guitar effects? Bit of delay and reverb and I read that the guitarist for Nancy Sinatra's Bang Bang used a very slow tremolo. This sounds very similar
@Gordo Del Desierto and everyone that likes this vibe... Yawning Man has been mentioned, Desert Sessions also, CHECK OUT DEAD COMBO they are cool to listen to, MARK LANEGAN, some songs of him are really dark and mellow, some songs of KYUSS and QOTSA obviously, and check out ISIS's Panopticon. Forget the vocals and feel the GROOVE wich is very similar to this. Keep the suggestions coming :)
I love all that songs, I'm a big fan of qotsa and all kind of desert, stoner and psychedelic bands... but this song it doesn't reminds me to any of the bands I've heard... anyway I agree with you with the surfer stuff... maybe that's the way... Thanks for answer!
This was the first episode of "No Reservations" I ever saw, and I think still one of the coolest ever.
I wish Josh had dragged him back to the desert before that man felt all alone. Lord knows we would've all honestly hugged him and watched his demons come out responsibly. Is there a Bourdain shaped heart in some people? Or just mine?
Men are expendable. That's how we are treated. ruclips.net/p/PLX66jEixZe1xfAxecqCecIj-VZ5STjnU-

Anthony bourdain's 'no reservations' US desert episode brought me here. Some really good music from Queens of the Stone Age
PhantomLover007 they used the lp album for the entire episode
So good it hurts!
And Rancho De La Luna seems like the best place in the world
Join is in the western desert. It is truly the best. We can go anywhere in an hour and still sit at the top of the world.
R.I.P. Anthony. This was my favorite episode you ever did.
Don't know how many times I replayed the song. I don't have the right words to describe how this song makes me feel. Thank you for uploading it.
I teach English in China, and just showed this to a roomful of 12-14 year old students when they asked me what my home in America looks like. They were mesmerized, and all want to visit now... :)

Useless information - the bell/cowbell in this song was actually "played" by Anthony Bourdain.
"Six years at Juilliard!"
This was the best thing ever put on the internet. Thank you for your service.

Rest in Peace Tony, We'll miss you.
This piece of music has a new meaning, at least for me.
R.I.P. Anthony Bourdain....
Just saw this episode again, haunted windchimes, the sad rhythm of the desert wind, and Anthony's music debut striking a piece of metal, a sound that will resonate forever.

I lived there for several years in the 80's.
Should have never left.
Is it j tree
Sounds like "Yawning Man", another great desert rock band. Look up the album Rock Formations and you'll know what I mean.
Beautiful. A good summary of how the desert feels to me.
Pasan los años y no puedo dejar de escuchar y ver esto. Genial!
Years go by and I can't stop listening and watching this. Cool!😁

We are finite, universe is not .
actually, he was one of the most important members of kyuss, he and brant bjork were the main songwriters if i remember rightly :D
This would totally fit into the Twin Peaks Soundtrack.
Watch the Anthony Bourdain Christmas Special, Q.O
T.S.A float through and some tasty acoustic versions are in the mix
infinite replay.
They should use this as the theme if "Fist Full Of Dollars" ever gets remade. Not that it could ever be remade.
11 people have given this a thumbs down. Who are these psychotics?
... probably people that would be admired by AB - if for no other reason than their apparent penchant for nonconformity. Doesn't mean they're not psychotics or d-bags.
They didnt see the full episode
Jake S the Clintons

"Cool has no price-tag."
Who can hear The Vampyre Of Time And Memory somewhere in this?
Does anyone have any suggestions as to the guitar effects? Bit of delay and reverb and I read that the guitarist for Nancy Sinatra's Bang Bang used a very slow tremolo. This sounds very similar
@R0bb89 Ok, thanks a lot.

2 people dislike this? are you kidding me? come on!
Would be nice to know how they got all those time lapses whilst the camera moves
Does anyone know where I can find the other songs from the episode?
@Gordo Del Desierto and everyone that likes this vibe... Yawning Man has been mentioned, Desert Sessions also, CHECK OUT DEAD COMBO they are cool to listen to, MARK LANEGAN, some songs of him are really dark and mellow, some songs of KYUSS and QOTSA obviously, and check out ISIS's Panopticon. Forget the vocals and feel the GROOVE wich is very similar to this. Keep the suggestions coming :)
Does anyone know where can I get a MP3 version of this song?
Fairly certain this song ended up being called Lonely T-Bird.
What kind of this car in 2:26 ? Its beautiful.
Thanks the answer.
It's kinda like a mellow version of desert rock with a kind of latino influence. Try Space Cadet by Kyuss
Such a sexy song
oh snap, does anybody have chords or tabs for this mastepiece? :o
anyone can tell me in wich genre of music can we put this masterpiece? I need to listen similar songs... (I know, this one is unique)
Lots of surf and a bit of psyche influence. Your best bet is Desert Rock such as Yawning Man, but even then they're quite a ways away.
You know what, "Like a Drug" from Desert Sessions Vol. 6 is pretty close to this. You might like that song.
I love all that songs, I'm a big fan of qotsa and all kind of desert, stoner and psychedelic bands... but this song it doesn't reminds me to any of the bands I've heard... anyway I agree with you with the surfer stuff... maybe that's the way... Thanks for answer!
and please excuse my bad bad english,
No problem, friend.
nice---where did you find this? I think they recorded several songs...any luck finding the others?
Where can I download this song?
