Yes like many have commented; this is a hypnotic song and groove. I love Nick’s singing on it; and the live versions they did with Lanegan and Nick - truly great stuff
I think, Songs for the Deaf with by far Dave Grohl's best drumming performance on any album as well as Homme starting to do very good solos as well as the heavy riffs is their masterpiece......
Although Rated R is good, as is Lullabies, Era Vulgaris and even Like Clockwork. The less said about the Mark Ronson produced Villains the better!......
i have the same experience where i dont listen to qotsa forever and hear a random song like this and remember "holy shit i forgot this band is fucking incredible"
Josh is more suave, seductive... Nick just sounds broken, sinister, makes me think of some demon who is trying to return to power. In this song anyway. Hands down favorite song off of this album.
I’ve just discovered this song and put together a self made acoustic drum and vocal version yesterday....it’s 20 years old ya say?!? Bands that’s never stop giving.. now that where it is for any musician, love QOSA

Dude since I wrote that it's switched again to better living through chemistry, I'm more of an electronic music fan than rock these days but Homme etc are different class!
I always thought the line 'high up in a jet with you' was actually 'I've been injured playing with you'. Listen to the song and then when you hear that line think about, it fits so well.
the audio on this upload is better than any versions on youtube, clearer or something. it sounds like mark is right in my ear doing the backing vocals right next to me

i love Nick's vocal track on this song, but it would have been interesting to hear Josh singing it as well. Regardless, one of their most underappreciated songs.
I compare this album (Rated R), Songs for the Deaf, and Lullabies to Paralyze equivolent to the (so-called "Holy") trinity of Dylan albums in his peak: Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited, and Blonde on Blonde. You can tell Josh listened to Dylan on his latter album as there's a song called "Tangled up in Plaid" like Dylan's "Tangled up in Blue." Those 3 are the best QOTSA albums (IMHO). Homme's songwriting grew exponentially after their self-titled debut.
Omg I played this over and over when it came outtttt. Luvvv. Like the guitars just cry and wail. So melodic and mesmerizing.
gay
Crying and wailing is a brilliant terminology for the guitar in this song, I'm going to use that
Naw man there are people playing those guitars, they don't have their own vocals silly.
This is still highly influenced by the desert sessions, which makes it super hypnotizing and stonery. Something their newer works lack imho.
cats?
Yes like many have commented; this is a hypnotic song and groove. I love Nick’s singing on it; and the live versions they did with Lanegan and Nick - truly great stuff

That's probably because it's Mark Lanegan from Screaming Trees, who had just died yesterday! R.I.P. Mark Lanegan
