I'm almost overwhelmed, not gonna lie. I got Logic a few months ago - I hadn't even figured out how to use everything from the last update! And now there's this!
IT'S A MIRACLE! PRAISE THE LORD! I can FINALLY drag a sound from Splice into a sampler within in 2 seconds like an FL/Ableton user instead of having to jump through 20 EXS24 windows to map a single oneshot! No joke my workflow has sped up a ton just with Quick Sampler. I could cry right now. RIP EXS24

Great stuff! Replacing EXS24 is a step in the right direction for sure. I hope Apple will replicate Fabfilter’s EQ’s in the future though. Pro-Q 3 has so many amazing features that I’d love to see in Apple’s EQ!!
There is now mid-side, left right and ofc stereo options within Logic's EQ. As well as 0.1dB increments, whereas before only linear phase had the finer control. Think he missed this.
André Hansen Yes, I hate trying to sample in logic pro x EXS24. I was pretty much sampling in Maschine and then importing into Logic. I hope this new sampler is better

It totally is! I've only had a couple of hours with it, but the workflow improvements are incredible. I think I'm gonna spend the afternoon with the updated Drum Machine Designer and try not to get too distracted by everything else!
@@freetimeprojex yep true, but the thing is that logic still has all the other stuff that previously made it great (many things that live and/or bitwig can't do, or can't do as well), so people who were after a good mix of the two will be very happy (like me). i really wanted some of the things i saw in live/bitwig, but i didn't want to lose all of the "traditional daw" things that logic does well. obviously there are still other things the others are much better for, such as the modulation system in bitwig, but this update at least moves logic a little bit closer towards being a good middle ground.
@@freetimeprojex What if you had tried both Live and Bitwig, and you liked them in some areas but ultimately found them lacking in other non-negotiable areas, ones where Logic excelled, and then stayed with Logic, and THEN got caught unawares with this update...Oh yeah I feel like I won the lottery!

Logic has a superior default synth and fx plugin of any DAW, and it's comparatively affordable than most DAW too, and now they add the Ableton Clip view too? Holy shit i might change my DAW if this thing could be controlled by my launchpad pro

I am SOOO GLAD they upgraded from EX24 sampler. It would always lose my carefully sliced up samples and I had to get used to bouncing them into audio files after splicing or else I would have to recreate the exact sequence I did before. 70% of the time, I couldn't recover it exactly like I made it the first time. This is definitely a game changer for me with that alone!

This is the update I've been waiting for FOR YEARS!!! I love Logic but drum programming and sampling in Logic compared to Ableton/FL Studio has always been a pain in the ass in my opinion. I've been using Ableton more because I prefer Ableton's drum rack and sampler/simpler over trash EXS24 Sampler and Ultrabeat. This is best news I could've gotten during this quarantine.
Freshold Mate, Logic has been the tool for people to make MUSIC with for years, FLP, Simpleton etc are for people with little talent. End off. Logic, like everything apple make, has become dumber, but yes there sales will increase. It happened to FCP too.

I've always loved Logic despite the fact that people say it's kind of a workaround to make beats in there for Hip-Hop beatmakers, etc. and over time, I've developed pretty good workflow. but man... I can't say how happy I am to be a Logic Pro user right now. This update is insane!! Especially the FX feature. That's one I been killing to have. Doing high pass filter automation manually was kind of a chore.. Also, this overview of the update was great. Sound like a real music tutor. Definitely subscribing! 👍🏿
I downloaded the free 90 day Ableton Live trial during this whole shutdown! I was dreading having to learn a new DAW so I can take my music to a live setting! And I was getting ready to drop over a thousand dollars on the software and a push controller! However with this update I don't need to do any of that! This update saves me tons of time from and money! Now im looking to buy an IPAD! love the update!
This definitely takes logic to next level. Personally as a logic user this is where I thought the Daw could have used some work and updating. Have to be honest, Ableton has included most of these features and conveniences for a few years now.
Most of these upgrades I won't end up using, but Quick Sampler and Sampler are HUGE for my workflow, and something I've been waiting for for a long time.
Not saying that you can't do this in Ableton, but you can do a lot more in Logic as a linear DAW with things like flex-time mode, etc. There are a ton of things Logic can do as a linear DAW that Ableton can't, or at least, in a much more user-friendly manner. Now Apple have integrated the stuff from the iOS version of Garage Band (like the real-time remix FX), which blows my mind on so many levels, allowing any kid with a phone all of the creative tools necessary to produce beats for free. Then it gets Live loops, which not only Ableton-like, but also allow you to drag and drop your arrangement or record it in a linear fashion as well. So you can perform and record at the same time... but! You can record MIDI data in real time instead of audio like Ableton does... correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think any DAW record MIDI data in real time from a live loop performance. Sampler is now on par with Ableton. You can control everything on your iPad. Plus it's got a sequencer. This is basically Pro Tools, Ableton and FL studio all in one with a beautiful interface for 280 bucks. No brainer for me.
Still no command line interface for the Environment Window :o( Seriously though, I can't get my head around Ableton so these new features will genuinely help me write songs faster.
This is why Logic is the best DAW in existence. Every single update feels like Christmas morning. Apple may have questionable practices, but they have me by the balls with Logic because it's by FAR my favorite DAW and it continues to get better and better. The Logic team truly cares about their product. Amazing.
There's a lot of good stuff in here. Have Apple decided that they're going to stay in the game with the likes of NI, Arturia and Propellerheads? I think that means they need to let the whole division off the corporate leash and allow it to grow its own culture.
No updates to automation? I wonder if it's still as glitchy as ever? Can't tell, yet. Currently downloading SpitFire BBC SO core orchestra which will take a while on my slow broadband!
Damn! This is the biggest update since Logic 10.0 itself lmao. They pretty much addressed all (most of) their weak points! They're finally closing the gap between themselves and Ableton & FL on making electronic music! I'm so eager to use the new functions.
Anyone else having their old plugs slow Logic wayyyy down to like 1fps? A couple of my plugins I used to use slow it way down when opened, but when closed/minimized, it works just fine

Today I set up my MacBook Pro under Catalina 10.15.4 and behold LogicPro 10.5 is not even available on the App Store! Is anyone else aware of this? Thanks in advance.👍
Lol, no. It helps those who don't know how to produce music. But its a killer machine for those who know how to. Having so much fun using the new step sequencer with my grandmother going thru my nord.
Well I don’t feel that way. I write,record, and produce singer songwriter tracks and have used logic for 10 years. I also have been writing instrumental chill hop for several years. This is a game changer for me and will keep me focused on just using and mastering logic. I also really appreciate the sampler upgrade. It is so nice to sample mono synths without presets to save certain patches.

@Brendan Mattson you nailed it. Who gives a fuck who added a feature first? A good idea is a good idea and at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is fast & reliable workflow which Logic has. I work with Logic, Pro Tools, Live, Studio One and FLstudio for a living, and all of the others eventually fall short somewhere down the line. Studio One is the only DAW that can consistently keep up with Logic, but its proprietary instruments like Mojito and Impact fall short.
Obsolescence by design.... Its not like in a PC world where any manufacturer builds hardware. Yearly OSX updates eventually make perfectly capable hardware obsolete..... Im sure there will be people saying , well , new tech , new hardware, new OS, apple can't support an old machine... Well, Why Not? They designed it themselves. No third parties.... Its ok.. Ive ways to upgrade my Macinstein.....But be assured, never will I buy an apple product new again. I love logic.. from Pro24, Cubase 1 atari to Win Cubase to Mac Cubase 5... Then Logic because Cubase SX just didn't do it fo me...... But.. this is now once again the problem I face every few years... I was always a Mac Advocate, but now im just over the apparent syphoning of money for reasons of just more money. However... I will never ever use windows..... So apple, you've made your move , and so will I. A few hundred buck for a metal capable card.... And dos dude FTW.

Nickolaus Heinrich some of this is in garage band and the work arounds are some time very time consuming it not really pro. Honestly I been using iPad GB SINCE 08 and I drop entire albums off it but at some points I needed a Mac by 15’ it got more independent from logic but it was a long battle and for that last few hrs logic gets some cool ft that iPad gets but iPad and logic as a stand-alone always been a long awaited app
Only thing logic is missing now is a good sample library organization tool or plug in like ADSR.... I try to keep my library clean and organized, so picking sounds doesn't interrupt my creative flow, but it's battle now a days! I just don't like using ADSR or other similar apps, I feel like I just end up using the same sounds over and over when I do. Plus it makes me feel like I don't know what's in my library the way it organizes all the sounds into a million folders! Not to mention the mess it makes on your drive! If splice or loopcloud could figure out a way to still tag and organize samples without adding all those folders it would be a game changer! My dream wld be to download about 50 sounds from different kits, apps, sites, etc. and then all the sounds just magically go to their respected homes as well as an alias folder for a kit for me to use at the present time.
Yeah just like pro tools, studio one, reason, reaper, FL studio and all other DAWs stole the track recording feature from cassette tapes recorder. RIGHT? When it comes to DAW for music production, it's a matter of preference because nowadays all of them are great. People record, mix and master songs on almost all of them. These new features on LPX has nothing to do with stealing Ableton stuff.
I use to only use Alchemy because I can’t stand the GUI of EXS24, now with the new Sampler, I can finally use both! The new GUI looks better than even most paid plugins!
This is CRAZY, can't wait to dive into all these new features! Btw, I think I've missed some of your latest videos due to not watching tutorials and such the past time, but I owe you a big thanks for all the videos you 've shared man, they 've been very helpful in the past, talking years here, ever since my first steps with Logic! This is a great update for Logic users, in some ways it brings Logic to Ableton standards. What’s been great about Logic is Apple gives users free updates. I think though Apple just took ideas from Ableton and represented them in Logic, I don’t see increased usage from new users. Emagic would have done a better job maintaining this software. But good free update.

This is the best update for me, it brings features that made me want to go elsewhere in order to have them and now they are all right here in Logic where I wanted be and will stay and dig so much deeper. Hmmm. Live and Bitwig have had these features for a long time. Much appreciated update (Exs24 and ultrabeat!) but it’s more of a coming-to-terms one.

They have a launchpad midi template but it wouldn’t surprise me if it is updated in the near future

I've always loved Logic despite the fact that people say it's kind of a workaround to make beats in there for Hip-Hop beatmakers, etc. and over time, I've developed pretty good workflow. but man... I can't say how happy I am to be a Logic Pro user right now. This update is insane!! Especially the FX feature. That's one I been killing to have. Doing high pass filter automation manually was kind of a chore.. Also, this overview of the update was great. Sound like a real music tutor.

I downloaded the free 90 day Ableton Live trial during this whole shutdown! I was dreading having to learn a new DAW so I can take my music to a live setting! And I was getting ready to drop over a thousand dollars on the software and a push controller! However with this update I don't need to do any of that! This update saves me tons of time from and money! Now im looking to buy an IPAD! love the update!

This definitely takes logic to next level. Personally as a logic user this is where I thought the Daw could have used some work and updating. Have to be honest, Ableton has included most of these features and conveniences for a few years now.

Most of these upgrades I won't end up using, but Quick Sampler and Sampler are HUGE for my workflow, and something I've been waiting for for a long time.

Ableton user: What, you guys are only getting all these now?
Though Ableton still has many things on logic, the integrated step sequencer seems to be something Ableton lacks, not FL studio though.
Not saying that you can't do this in Ableton, but you can do a lot more in Logic as a linear DAW with things like flex-time mode, etc. There are a ton of things Logic can do as a linear DAW that Ableton can't, or at least, in a much more user-friendly manner. Now Apple have integrated the stuff from the iOS version of Garage Band (like the real-time remix FX), which blows my mind on so many levels, allowing any kid with a phone all of the creative tools necessary to produce beats for free.
Then it gets Live loops, which not only Ableton-like, but also allow you to drag and drop your arrangement or record it in a linear fashion as well. So you can perform and record at the same time... but! You can record MIDI data in real time instead of audio like Ableton does... correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think any DAW record MIDI data in real time from a live loop performance. Sampler is now on par with Ableton. You can control everything on your iPad.
Plus it's got a sequencer. This is basically Pro Tools, Ableton and FL studio all in one with a beautiful interface for 280 bucks. No brainer for me.
This is fantastic, now all we need is an easier way to speed up individual tracks in projects and speed up individual notes in tracks
Still no command line interface for the Environment Window :o(
Seriously though, I can't get my head around Ableton so these new features will genuinely help me write songs faster.
This is why Logic is the best DAW in existence. Every single update feels like Christmas morning. Apple may have questionable practices, but they have me by the balls with Logic because it's by FAR my favorite DAW and it continues to get better and better. The Logic team truly cares about their product. Amazing.
There's a lot of good stuff in here. Have Apple decided that they're going to stay in the game with the likes of NI, Arturia and Propellerheads? I think that means they need to let the whole division off the corporate leash and allow it to grow its own culture.

Damn! This is the biggest update since Logic 10.0 itself lmao. They pretty much addressed all (most of) their weak points! They're finally closing the gap between themselves and Ableton & FL on making electronic music! I'm so eager to use the new functions.

Today I set up my MacBook Pro under Catalina 10.15.4 and behold LogicPro 10.5 is not even available on the App Store! Is anyone else aware of this? Thanks in advance.👍

Lol, no. It helps those who don't know how to produce music. But its a killer machine for those who know how to. Having so much fun using the new step sequencer with my grandmother going thru my nord.
My first response was to download Reaper. I love Logic and won't change, but I don't need live loops at all.
Well I don’t feel that way. I write,record, and produce singer songwriter tracks and have used logic for 10 years. I also have been writing instrumental chill hop for several years. This is a game changer for me and will keep me focused on just using and mastering logic. I also really appreciate the sampler upgrade. It is so nice to sample mono synths without presets to save certain patches.

@Brendan Mattson you nailed it. Who gives a fuck who added a feature first? A good idea is a good idea and at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is fast & reliable workflow which Logic has. I work with Logic, Pro Tools, Live, Studio One and FLstudio for a living, and all of the others eventually fall short somewhere down the line. Studio One is the only DAW that can consistently keep up with Logic, but its proprietary instruments like Mojito and Impact fall short.

Yearly OSX updates eventually make perfectly capable hardware obsolete..... Im sure there will be people saying , well , new tech , new hardware, new OS, apple can't support an old machine... Well, Why Not? They designed it themselves. No third parties....
Its ok.. Ive ways to upgrade my Macinstein.....But be assured, never will I buy an apple product new again.
I love logic.. from Pro24, Cubase 1 atari to Win Cubase to Mac Cubase 5... Then Logic because Cubase SX just didn't do it fo me......

Nickolaus Heinrich some of this is in garage band and the work arounds are some time very time consuming it not really pro. Honestly I been using iPad GB SINCE 08 and I drop entire albums off it but at some points I needed a Mac by 15’ it got more independent from logic but it was a long battle and for that last few hrs logic gets some cool ft that iPad gets but iPad and logic as a stand-alone always been a long awaited app

Only thing logic is missing now is a good sample library organization tool or plug in like ADSR....
I try to keep my library clean and organized, so picking sounds doesn't interrupt my creative flow, but it's battle now a days!
I just don't like using ADSR or other similar apps, I feel like I just end up using the same sounds over and over when I do. Plus it makes me feel like I don't know what's in my library the way it organizes all the sounds into a million folders! Not to mention the mess it makes on your drive!
If splice or loopcloud could figure out a way to still tag and organize samples without adding all those folders it would be a game changer!
My dream wld be to download about 50 sounds from different kits, apps, sites, etc. and then all the sounds just magically go to their respected homes as well as an alias folder for a kit for me to use at the present time.
They've clearly been stealing from Ableton! Good move anyway.
Yeah just like pro tools, studio one, reason, reaper, FL studio and all other DAWs stole the track recording feature from cassette tapes recorder. RIGHT? When it comes to DAW for music production, it's a matter of preference because nowadays all of them are great. People record, mix and master songs on almost all of them. These new features on LPX has nothing to do with stealing Ableton stuff.

I use to only use Alchemy because I can’t stand the GUI of EXS24, now with the new Sampler, I can finally use both! The new GUI looks better than even most paid plugins!

This is a great update for Logic users, in some ways it brings Logic to Ableton standards. What’s been great about Logic is Apple gives users free updates. I think though Apple just took ideas from Ableton and represented them in Logic, I don’t see increased usage from new users. Emagic would have done a better job maintaining this software. But good free update.

This is the best update for me, it brings features that made me want to go elsewhere in order to have them and now they are all right here in Logic where I wanted be and will stay and dig so much deeper.
