- We headed out on another chicken hunt going after grouse in Northern BC. We had to hunt in some windy weather with the .22 lr and were racing the rain, hopeful in getting some birds before the weather hit.

FWIW, I double seal my bags, since I've had some of the seals break. I separate them by 1/4 " or so, and it solved my seal problems.

C'est pas de la chasse ça
@jakichan1234 it's call making groceries, man can't live on bread alone.
That's the most pretty, grouse-filled woods I've ever seen in my life.
We have lots of grouse out here and hundreds of thousands of square miles of wilderness to explore.
Thanks for the video. I can identify with hunting grouse with a .22LR. I started hunting grouse in Colorado using a pellet gun before moving up to a .22LR rifle when I was a teenager. I finally got a shotgun and a dog after I got married and had kids.
Many a wonderful day chicken hunting with my boys.
We love the deer hunting but hunting grouse is a family favorite. Most tasty bird in the woods.
Hey youngin’s, Rev. Paul, Eustis Florida. I grew up in Alaska, thanks for sharing your trip. Brought back some great memories, we were hunting on Big Sue. I flush a rush “chickens” to a tree branch they just stared at me, I started I got 6 the 7th look at the 6 hit the flopping around. When I got to it, it look back at me it oh heck no took off like crazy y’all. Again thanks for sharing.
I originally grew up in Maine, and too many "heater hunters" up there riding around with loaded guns in the truck, which is a big no-no. Great to see you guys, get out, load your gun, get your chicken, and open your bolt. Good firearm safety. Good on you guys.
I appreciate the positive feedback! Thanks.
@@BuickOutdoors I never knew that the wild chickens were so proude and stubborn twice or thrice you missed and tha thing was stil showing his head and tail ha h ah
I enjoy your video a lot man and wife as a team, simple joyful hunting, small game but a lot of fun
We have very few spruce grouse here in NY's Adirondacks and they are illegal to hunt. They are nicknamed fool hens because they sit tight and will let you walk up on them close. We have ruffed grouse (called partridge here) that are legal to hunt. I call them Adirondack chickens. They are around, not too plentiful where I am, but there are pockets of habitat that hold a fair number. Most guys hunt big game though. Success yields more meat for the effort. You have a sweet .22 there. Sounds like you are shooting .22 long cartridge. Love that distinctive report.
We have ruffed, spruce, dusky and sharptail here. If you go up into the mountains we also have ptarmagin. We love chicken hunting. You can bring your dogs, friends, family, listen to tunes, catch up and BS all while getting something to eat. It's a very relaxing and enjoyable hunt. We mainly use a 22 to hunt them and this year I upgraded from this Marlin to a CZ. If you watch any of the chicken hunts from this year, you'll see a pretty fancy(and expensive haha) set up.
Great video. I wasn’t expecting the end but it was very educational. Keep up the great work. You’ve earned my subscription
in Finland where I live it's illegal to shoot grouse on any road or path with gravel
Our laws are a lot different in Northern BC. We only have certain roads that we can't shoot off of or have to be 400 meters away from highways. We have some highways that we can near of but we have to be 15 meters from the road allowance. All depends on what road we are on. The main roads we have out here are forestry and oil and gas roads that we can shoot on.
You happen to live in a civilized country greetings from Canada
It’s crazy how they just sit there and watch you like that. They’re super timid birds where i live in Minnesota.
They're hit and miss out here. This year they're very timid.
I hunted grouse in Minnesota before I retired and moved to Arizona. You weren’t allowed to hunt on the road or so many feet close to the road and if you’re a true sportsman, you’ll shoot them when they’re in flight.
My 22 is like a chicken repellant. When I have it with me I don't see any, if I don't bring it they're everywhere.
Exactly the same story for me.😂😂😂
😂
😂😂😂 Our local proverb....."If we see a stone we will not see a dog, if we see a dog we will not see a stone."
I don't have a 22 caliber all I have is a co2 handgun and I got one chicken and the rest just disappeared so we went home and gonna try again it gets more colder.
You guys did a great job. I would like to hunt these birds aswell. Hopefully I can visit your beautiful Country sooner or later again.
Good shooting, same way I hunt them, all head shots
very nice. Great looking cover there too!
Ok thanks
I love how you call them chickens
New subscriber here first time i ever watched chicken hunting. We don't have them here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, United States. We have birds in the marsh called Marsh Hens very tasty lil birds.
Never knew you could road hunt and actually shoot right on the road.
In most places, you can't, unless on roads rarely used, which isn't the case here. The road looks well-traveled.
Like the way you prep your grouse too
Thanks!
Definitely redeemed, nice shot 6:30
Nice shooting
Thanks!
Can’t wait to go bear hunting with you Sheldon it’s me Lucas
@@lonehunter_1hotston75 hey buddy! It's going to be a good time this spring. Just make sure you share the meat with the rest of the family ;) haha
Will see
Mite just eat it I all specially if you give me those Bear jerky sticks! Lol
I call that road hunting good thing there wasn't a car accident
We call it road hunting up here too. It works like a charm and is legal here. Plus there's very little to no people out here so it's actually very safe.
This type of hunting is normally done on logging roads and trails that aren't used for regular residential traffic.
nice ride!first I thought the weather is pretty good up there for end of October, then I've heard - September....😄 that explains nice weather and all the green still around. did you have a chance using calls?
Haha ya I still have some videos scheduled to come out from September.
I actually just got the calls in the mail a few days ago and I'll be trying them out this week.
Thanks for the video. I was wondering what they eat. Looks like vegetarian wild chicken (grouse)
One day I want to hunt it and eat this bird. I am curious how it taste.
Depending on the time of year, they eat clover, grasses, berries and rose hips. During the winter months they get the odd rose hip that's still hanging on or they eat the grasses and moss that's under the snow.
The ruffed grouse tastes just like chicken, just a bit more lean. The spruce grouse have more of a "beefy" taste to them. Sometimes the odd spruce grouse has a little bit of a spruce tree flavour to them.
@Buick Outdoors is that why you call them chickens
Hi Sheldon ime geno from England love the hunting video good shooting bye your beautiful wife please keep the hunting videos coming. Many thanks
In Italy this type of hunting is considered poaching and there is arrest and a report to pay very dearly for years without it. firearms license
Good thing I'm not hunting in Italy and its legal and the most common way of hunting where I live.
Oh poor bird they hunt, they don't know that those birds have a chicks, waiting for their mother.
Great video! This really made me wanna go. So cool.
Thanks! I'm actually out grouse hunting right now with my shotgun for a change. I hope you get the chance to head out. It's an absolute blast chicken hunting.
Bella fatica! Che caccia e', così siamo capaci tutti!.
Awesome. From your experience, is it better hunting in the AM or PM during early fall. Thanks in advance
I honestly think it depends on the weather. If the weather is about to change, early morning is best. If you have a beautiful warm day, afternoon/evening is the best. If it's raining or you have a strong wind, it's all bad haha
You are road side hunters. You have to learn hunting, also area is not rushed by hunters and birds have no experience of gun shots , so after 3 shots bird disappeared in the bushes. So you are lucky to hunt in such an area. By GR Jamali from Pakistan
And you need to learn that if it is legal (which it is) Your opinion is irrelevant, a dead grouse a mile into the woods or on the road is still a dead grouse, whether that meets your moral standards or expectations is completely irrelevant.
What type of this birds ? Does it have name other than being called a chicken?
If I request a fertile eggs to hatch , would be possible to get it from you guys?
These are grouse. Ruffed grouse and spruce grouse. They are wild birds so there's no chance I can get you a fertile egg.
some dangerous shooting......here it is illegal to shot a rifle parallel to road/trails.
Do you shoot right below the neck just right above the shoulder at the shoulder top? (With .22)
No. We aim right for the head.
@@BuickOutdoors
Thank you Sir
I'm still a learning hunter.
I only hunt grouse, no other creature.
@@noryaa4194 just check with your local hunting regulations on limits. It might be different where you're hunting at.
I want some 😋
Hi very nice Hunting great video I just want to know where are you hunt? What is the location?
British Columbia
You will be lucky if this video doesn't put you behind bars
Why would it? Up here in northern Canada road hunting is perfectly legal. Not to mention all the old logging and oil and gas roads are often so little travelled that there’s basically no one out there and you’re so far from everything. So there’s not really any danger. Not everywhere has the same laws dude
@DavidRutledge-mg3vx this guy gets it 👍
How many are allowed to be kept for the day? I forget.
10 per person and a three day limit.
@@BuickOutdoors
It's very good meat to eat, easy to get the meat out.
I learned the best way to get the breast out from you.
@@noryaa4194 that's awesome! I'm glad I could help.
They don’t worry about a 22 traveling distance, and doing damage to some property or worse?
Up north there they are there’s probably hundreds of kilometres before the nearest property or person
Do you retrieved all of them 😢
Are these birds reared or wild they are too tame in my opinion . Good video
They are all wild
I use a 17hmr
Which scope you running?
Simmons 3-9x32 rimfire scope.
You doing head or body shots🇨🇦👍
All head shots
Love the vids !!! What rifle is that ???
Thanks! Im really glad youre enjoying them. It's a Marlin 925. I did a rifle review video on it a while back if you want to check it out.
Hey just wandering if could do a video down in New Brunswick and if van you take a subscriber on a hunt
And do you post deer hunting videos
I would love to but that would be way to far for me to travel unfortunately.
@@apde1012 I haven't yet just for the simple fact that there isn't much for deer around where I live. I want to let the population come back up before I start hunting them again. Right now there's a very healthy population of bears and chickens so I've been focusing on them for the last few years
We can't hunt grouse in Rhode Island anymore
Sir,your not showing on your video wher the target is
Their head
You throw the legs away...??
Except guys
What type of grouse are you hunting?
Ruffed and spruce. We also have sharptail, ptarmagin and dusky up north.
@@BuickOutdoors I've done a lot of pheasant hunting, still a dream of mine to chase grouse for a few days. Never expected a wild bird to let you walk up like that, much less take multiple shots before it waddles off lol. Good chance to showcase your sniper skills!
@Matthew Klaus one of the funnest things to hunt!
Where is the area you are hunting in
Northern BC in Canada
Don’t shoot my chickens
Đeo kính 10 phát trúng 3
You can probably hunt chickens with one of those nets you use to pull leaves out of the pool.
Haha some days it seems like it.
Sorry friend
Mantap
He should leave the gun and buy a camera
I really like your channel. I'm curious where you live. I live in northern BC to. P.G.
I'm just north of you in the FSJ area.
Creo q es proivido disparar en calles los policias ponen aves falsas aver si los casadores les disparan si disparas una multa😊
What state is that?
BC up in Canada.
@@BuickOutdoors
Oh nice. I do in Alberta
That is not chicken that is grouse
please go for body shots more often. It does not take that big of a toll on the meat with a 22lr and it is far better than leaving a wounded bird out there.
Not going to happen
@@BuickOutdoors i can respect that. please keep putting out videos.
Thank you for understanding
That dog has a fantastic nose. He'll locate a "lost" bird . . . .
a .22 is still very capable of ruining grouse meat. gotta understand these birds can be taken out with a slingshot.
Sembelihlah ayam tu dgn segera agar seksanya tidak berpanjangan.
where is BC
It's on the West side of Canada
Man... you need to improve your shooting technique. You injure your takes rather humanly shoot them. Please do a little work with your scope and technique. Thank you for understanding.
Pathetic road hunting.
If you can't walk a trail up north and get a few, if not your daily limit, you're not a grouse hunter.
More so if the area has mainly spruce grouse.
Getting my daily limit on the morning hunt, doing trails wasn't uncommon, and that was mainly ruffed grouse.
Some of them are not chicken
You call them what you want. We call them chickens up here.
does anyone really hunt anymore, without filming a 4 runner,or run their mouth about small talk, too much dialog ruins it.
How many chicken lives are you killing? and how many baby's child are waiting for their mother to come back home! Thats an animal cruelty.
No it isn't. In September when the hunting season is open, the chicks are grown and off on their own, able to fly and get their own food, and don't even know who their mothers are.
Noob
Learn to shoot before you go hunting
lol…maybe get 2 with one shot…gets 1 with 2 shots. Hunting Night Crawlers is more sporting than this. Those “chickens” are probably the dumbest animals in the world. Only road hunting allowed down here is for handicapped folks otherwise you get arrested, weapons and truck confiscated with name and offensive published. Seen it all now. Only thing that surprised me is you wernt using double barrel 10 ga. 18” improved cylinder so you could take out the whole herd with one shot to get your limit thereby not keeping you from the comfort, heat, hot chocolate and doughnuts for as long.
Guess it’s a good thing that they’re not where you live and are hunting totally legally where they live.
That's a girl right there. Must be be indigenous or northern ontarien lol
Haha northern BC
@@BuickOutdoors dude, i knew from the first 3 words you said you were Canadian. I just wasn't sure where. Anyway, loved the vid n keep up feeding the fam. Especially your little hunter lol
Not good shooting bird in the road.
Are you going to shoot some Walleyes in a barrel after this...what the hell kind of hunting is this...?? 👎🦧
Women lol missing at close range. 10 yards 😂😂😂😂😂😂 lmao that is a piglet shooting gun
