- After a unsuccessful elk hunt, I gathered up the dogs and went out on a grouse hunt. It was a pretty rough day for me with a lot of missing, but in the end I managed to get a couple grouse with the 22lr.

You needed some rice or pasta with that. Looked great!!
Dub this one “Hill Billy Edo” lol
I just used your breasting trick and it works awesome! Showed a hunting buddy and he was pretty impressed too. I always save the legs and thighs too so I thought I'd share another trick i use on pheasant which have tendons in the legs like crazy. Anywho snap the leg just above the foot and then step on the foot and pull up holding on right at the bottom of the drumstick and all the tendons pull right out. Keep the vids coming
That’s a super slick way to breast one. I just wish sometimes someone would show that you can do more with a bird. For example, I keep the legs. Once you have a little bunch of them, they’re like little chicken wings.
Last year I cooked 6 of them over my stick stove with a little spice, and it was such an awesome little snack. I also too a few whole ones home, cooked the breasts, and threw the rest of the carcass into a pot and made an awesome soup stock. It was different and so much better than typical chicken stock.
But out where I am, they’re a lot harder to get, and much more of a prize.
Interesting hunting video, but gotta say I’m not a fan of the recipe. I doubt you could tell the difference between grouse and pork chops…..but again, I guess it’s because they’re a real treat to me, whereas for you it’s something more common.
Got two sharptails and a ruffed grouse yesterday. Tried your technique but it had been awhile since I last saw a video of you doing it. So I did it the wrong way and gave up haha! Hopefully I get another sharpie before the season closes and do it right
Haha close but not quite the right way. Good luck getting another bird. Hopefully you're able to get a couple more before the season is over.
Awesome video! You’re more persistent than I am lol, after a few misses with the .22 I’m pulling out the .410 to get the job done 😅
Haha I'm usually pretty deadly with my 22. Just having a bad day in this video lol
Hey Sheldon, thanks for a great video hunting and cooking. Nice healthy looking bear, too bad couldn’t get the Grizzly on cam. I’m making fajitas tomorrow night with grouse, wished I had seen this video before getting into camp…I don’t have cabbage oh well, next time. Cheers
Headed out for some waterfowl hunting. Been awhile and I may punch a few holes in the sky.
Good luck out there.
New approach as my knees are getting older. Fewer decoys and a seat! Travelling lighter but still travelling at 65. @@BuickOutdoors
@@caseysimpson1806 that's awesome to hear that you're still getting out there.
The food honestly looks great. Think im gonna have to try it next time i shoot some grouse
It was a bit of a experiment that turned into a sloppy mess but man did it ever taste good haha
410 or 28 ga or 32 ga
do you use the 100 year old 16 gauge at all for grouse?
Absolutely. I haven't used it this year though. Been mainly using my 22, did a hunt with my single shot 20 gauge and this morning I hunted them with my bolt action 16 gauge.
Nice, filming yourself breaking the law.
How is he breaking the law
