- On a recent black bear hunting trip, in northern BC, I wounded a bear and had to track him. If it wasnt for some planning and thinking ahead, this hunt could of turned out very bad for me.

Let us know about your close encounters!
Been stalked by both Grizz & black bear tho no video...!
I was attacked by a black bear but my dog Pacer saved me.
You are a real green horn knuckle head telling the wild bar room drunks story bears won't blead by being shot !
I have 30 years of guiding clients for Alaskan Brown bear and Grizzly hunts and every bear we had to go look for bleed like a main blood vain was cute and often we find organ parts or parts of flesh and bone lost also.
Then you are unfamiliar with your gun and try to shoot with safety on!
Never come to Alaska then hire a guide to hunt the dangerous bears of Alaska because I really don't like putting my life in the line for stupid clients who are like you.
People that haven't hunted a bear just don't understand what it's like sometimes, nice black bear my friend
No they sure don't. The camera doesn't do it justice either. The camera is a wide angle lense so everything looks further away. They also don't know how fast a bear can actually move.
Really enjoyed it. Thanks for bringing us along on your bear hunt. Never had a chance to try bear meat but I say it's good. Awesome video.
As you already know, damn nice chunky bear. Nice job on the solo video work.
As I watched this , my buddy is sitting in a tree stand about 120 miles from anchorage, waiting for a big brown bear. It's 10:37 Alaska time and partly sunny? Partly cloudy?. It will get darker but not full dark in a couple hrs or so.
We hunters understand your hunt was a little nervous for me glad it turned out good.
wow, that was some pretty cool content. I learned a lot for when I find myself in a similar situation. Happy to see you found him and put some more meat in the freezer.
Your exercise of caution denotes a level of skill and knowledge of self preservation. A wounded animal with the ability to turn the tables on a hunter is a very dangerous situation not to be taken lightly. When you are alone like that there is nobody else going to keep you alive. A hunter has to draw on his knowledge and experience and the experience of others who have been in the same situation. If he is smart he will use all of that and live to tell stories to his friends and family .
Nice Bear Nice Recovery Gotta Be Safe And Cautious Glad All Ended Well ✌️
Thanks for sharing Nice Bear👍👍
Thanks for watching!
Run across your channel keep up the good work don’t let the haters get to you my friend
Thanks, I appreciate that!
Glad you found him.
Very highlight hunt It was done correctly. The hunter knows what he is doing
great video congrats on a safe recovery gonna be some good eats
I love your content. Lots of neat video techniques.
@@Mike990920 thanks! I'm really happy you're enjoying my videos.
Very nice job; following up is the key.
Awesome hunt. Very well documented.👍👍👍🇺🇸✌🏻🙏🏽
Thanks for watching!
Nice bear , Congrat's !! It was interesting to see how you stocked him after the first hit .
Thanks Ian! I hope this helps other people if they're ever in the same situation. It's one thing to track a wounded deer or moose but bears are a whole other demon if they're wounded.
It's stalked......
Great video and thanks for the tips. I can see how you could just about step on them in certain situations. I'm curious if you found out where the initial shot landed.
With bears their vitals are a bit further back then other animals. You shoot for the middle of the body but when I shot, he was slightly quartered so I only got one lung.
Well as a born and bred BC country boy myself, I have to say that would have taken some courage to do. Never hunted bear but growing up in the country about 3-4 hours south of you I have seen my fair share. Bears are fine when you can see them and defend yourself. A whole different matter when you can't see it and it's bloody wounded. Definitely not an experience I envy. Glad it all turned out in the end.
You said one day your luck might run out. To help avoid that I would focus on taking a better shot. The shot looked rather long to me. I just wonder if you weren’t prepared to make a better shot than you did.
Ya same thing happened to my brother and I
Very similar but I had my 12 gauge with me just in case. It can get stressful AF is situations like this.
@deathcurse4203 ya it can get hairy at times. Thankfully it only happens once in a blue moon.
Nice bear!!! Congrats!!!
Nice vid, well done.
Thanks Gina!
Good job!
With a wide angle lens viewers can't know actual distances so calling yardages out helps us relate to the circumstances
You need a large breed tracking dog, let the dog find the wounded bear, you’re more valuable than any dog. Nice bear, it takes a lot of balls to poke around the bush for a wounded bear.
I won't make my dog do anything I wouldn't do. I left my dogs in the truck for a reason on this hunt. I will never put one of their lives intentionally into danger but I just have a different view on my dogs. I'm not against it but I won't make my dogs do that.
@@BuickOutdoors
A bear dog bred for it are quick and up for it like Plott hounds...!
beautty hunt sheldon i enjoyed it
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Nice bear! Real hunting!
NIcely done! I like this kind of hunting, going out, looking for a bear not using a bait barrel to slotter . Well done!👍🤘 Years ago I tried going with my buddy who used barrel feeder, did not like it at all. Called it a slotter, my buddy didn't like my feedback, newer invited me for a hunt again LOL
Ya the big barrels of random junk and rotten beavers hanging in trees doesn't appeal to me. It has its advantages but most bait sites look disgusting. If it was legal to bait here, I would just use whole oats. That's like crack to bears.
Awesome video
Congratulations nice job!
Nice Hunt 👍
@@ShawnPowell-Hondhuntn thanks Shawn! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Congrats!!!! Good job.
Awesome stuff
... transporting a rifle muzzle down on the dirty floor of a vehicle??? ... exactly where you DON'T want abrasive sand and grit is on the muzzle/crown of your rifle barrel
I keep the barrel off the floor. The bolt handle kind of digs in to the center console and keeps it in place. It keeps the end of the barrel usually 4 to 6 inches from the floor.
Very nice bear congradulation .just wonder what state was this hunt.
It says North BC...?
Northeast BC in the North Peace region.
I really like the white patch
Nice job. Bear steak for dinner. Thanks for sharing this video
Thanks for watching Marty!
MY complements to our Mr Hunter. I hunt also
Was a helicopter and mini-gun beyond your budget ?
... that big boar black bear would have done you in real quick if he had got the drop on you
Good job
Are in Alberta by chance? It seems we hunt in very similar places. Lol
@deathcurse4203 no I'm out in Northeast BC.
Good hunt. But I think you have ruined a lot of meat by shooting 300 Win Mag three times at this same bear.
Surprisingly it didn't. I still got two hind quarters, all of the back strap other then between the front shoulder blades from the finishing shot to the back of the neck. I also was able to get the majority of its front quarters. Had to trim some off on the inside but it was still good.
That Black bear wasn’t hunting you lol.
Glad u found him
And found him before he found you!!
Hate lazy hunters that road hunt, you should worry about getting closer instead of shooting a mile away-- smarten up use your legs-- some hunters give real hunters a bad name-- get closer you wouldn't have a wounded bear.
3rd class hunter and 3rd class filming
Not too bright
If you're trying to make money on your videos, learn how to do it first! All them cameras and all you managed to capture when you shot was your mug! Then you didn't bother showing a good shot of where the bear was laying, you hauled him out first.
@dw3094 this ain't Hollywood. You're more then welcome to stop watching my videos if you don't like them.
Heater hunting 👎
Would you rather have me throw a dead beaver on the ground and bait one in while i sit on a lawn chair and wait?
lol...he got lucky which is not always the case...!
You thought the bear was going to jump on you from 60 yds away?
He would of if I got closer. They can close the gap extremely quick.
I think Sheldon was referring to how it planned to jump on him or ambush him, that was rather evident. He was tracking a wounded bear in pretty thick cover. If you don't see the bear before it sees you, you might pretty well walk right on top of it. But if that happened the bear would probably give Sheldon a big lick and run away.
@user-dk2zx1to4m I guess I couldn't see any of that from the footage. Also, he never "tracked it" he went to where he thought it was.
@@tolt1776
Yes he indeed did track it to when he heard a loud crack then smartly circled around above where that was and went right to it from a safer position that was easir to see from = very wise move...!
@mtman2 that's not tracking. I've "tracked" wounded bears and that involves following a blood trail. He did not. Tell me more though, because I'm definitely not listening 😅🤣 if you call that tracking you ain't a hunter.
Call yourself a hunter here you are walking along on the gravel road making a lot of noise most hunters would of walked along in the grass edge hmmmm
Got his bear didn't he... Glad you had something to complain about
I was not complaining i was just stating some facts that any good hunter would of stalked the bear as quitely as possible.
Hunt black bear much in northern bc?
In the first three and a half minutes of the video, he talks about how the wind is at his back and the bear will have him pretty well "pinned". This means the bear has winded him. Another way to put it is, the wind was blowing his human scent towards the bear. So the bear would have already smelled him and known he was there.
DavidBurns@ Always a negative smart mouth that trys to impress knowledge that we all know to begin with , yet you feel this desperate need to state the obvious with disregard that everyone hunts with their own style. That being said try being a person that encourages instead of discouraging. Who likes a smart ass? Just slaps of kind hunter you are . Asshole kind . Always have to try outshine everyone. Take a break . It's unbecoming
Yes, as far as your little speech as to why you hunt...... The modern World is definitely turning against killing animals. I do not hunt anymore, but that is because I am old now. I am pretty sure I would still knock over the odd dear for the freezer if I could.
I think the truth is .......Nobody "needs" to kill animals, it is a "sport" for most hunters. I mean, nobody will starve if you do not kill animals.
Not a criticism, just a fact...
Cheers..............
No-> Wildlife management requires hunting, trapping and sometimes culling, so no it is necessary and no most hunt for the healthy meat tho enjoy "the hunt" likely for having mastered the challenge, exercise and the art of it...!
Nothing against vegans but hunting is as natural as breathing to put food on the table AND is a sport...!
I think guy that bear was 100 yards how could have charged you come on with bs play guy 🤔🤔
It’s pretty obvious that he meant that the bear was prepared to ambush him when he got closer or if he had come from the bottom rather than coming from the top
A bear can close a hundred yards a lot faster than you think, you donut. Go criticize a subject you know something about. Huting and bears aren't one of them.
