    Thanks for the video! I'm glad to finally see the Su-V Gun in action and I'm happy with just getting that one. I contemplated getting both but I think I'll just keep my free shipping pledge for the Su-V Gun only. I'll mostly be using it for searing and I'll probably keep using my chimney starter for charcoal. I can't imagine using the Su-V gun indoors though, that seems like it is just asking for trouble! Sure the flame is shorter but it still doesn't look like it should be used inside!

    I wanted something for indoor use. I don't want to go outside and use the flame thrower attached to the 20 lb propane tank anymore. I was definitely going to get the Su V gun as it's smaller. Then I saw you light charcoal with it and said HELL NO. This gun is going to burn my kitchen down. But then towards the end, where you controlled the flame, I reconsidered. I might just get one now since I think I can control it indoors.

    • @FireWaterCooking
      @FireWaterCooking  4 года назад +3

      yes, you can control it to work indoors, you still need to sear on something like a sheet pan, but it is much better than the searzall for sure.

    Well my other butane torch that I won’t mention the brand went out after two and half years and it was a tiny flame and had a fan so still had to wait forever to get a fire and use fire starters. So I think it’s finally time to buy the su v gun to replace it. I like that you just attach the propane rather than try to fill the gun because that’s a pain to me

      I did not have any propane taste as the high intensity flame burns that off. Propane itself has no smell or taste, the smell you get is an added chemical so we can detect a leak.. if I personally was only getting one, I would get the Su-Vgun as it is more compact and fits my personal needs.

      @@highplainsdrafter595 one you do know these are sous vide guns right. That's the way the inventor pitched them on Kickstarter until later. Yes they can light charcoal yet most of his funding came from being able to take steaks and other things out of your sous vide bath and char them up. So no not convoluted. He realized it was an hazard, just like me and hundreds of others did from the kickstarter. That's why he literally has 2 models now. One that can't be used inside. Actually has a warning saying so. So no idea what you're talking about.

    This is vague comparison, no side by side sear meat looks and no taste comparison. I wish u do more details. Thanks anyway

      they both seared the steak the same.. they both tasted the same.. the Su-vgun is better for searing if that is all you want to do with it..

      Incorrect. You are "way too close" if the inner blue flame touches the protein, in which case you may get a taste of the gas. His flame wasn't that close. Full stop. Now take off your asshat and wise up.
