Nice review. Ordered one last week. Can’t wait to play with 🔥
You’re going to love it!!!!!
I think I will check and buy the SU-V gun, it looks like really handy with the grill and loved the action especially with the rotisserie 👍
It's so much fun Hungry Man! Plus you'll have to change your channel name to capitalize MAN! :-)
I would get the shorter barrel. I can always start my own fire 🔥 but instant heat to the meat for the win!
Love the vid. Whats the grill gun like for searing? I need a gun for both searing and starting the charcoal
Awesome. Getting both.
Enjoy! Make sure you use coupon code EMV10

Thanks for this video and just subscribed to your channel. 2 Questions. 1) If you had to get just one, which one would you get? I'll want it for lighting a kammodo but I also do a lot of reverse sears and other kinds of high heat finishing. Does the Grill Gun work well for finishing? I guess I'm leaning towards the SuV. 2) For high heat finishing, how does this compare to the Searzall? Thanks again!
Hi Tim - welcome and thanks for subscribing! This is a hard question - they both are really good at their intended purpose. I would not light your kamado with the Su-V Gun - you have to get too close to the charcoal and the sparks won't be much fun. The Grill Gun is "OK" for searing, but the flame isn't as concentrated as it is on the Su-V Gun so you get a little less control over where you're applying the heat. I guess if I could only have one I would get the Grill Gun, then I would tell all of my friends that my birthday is coming up and give them that EMV10 coupon code so they could buy me a Su-V Gun :-). On your second question - if you want to buy my old Searzall I'll make you a deal since I haven't used it since getting the Grill Blazer tools. In addition to just doing a better job of "throwing heat" (400,000 BTUs and over 3,000°F), it also serves as a testosterone replacement! ;-). Seriously it's pretty amazing and all your friends will be jealous watching you use it. I actually made a video a few weeks ago cooking an entire steak with the Su-V Gun if you want to watch it ruclips.net/video/odXqsZwF4k8/видео.html

@@BehindTheFoodTV Heck those are awesome names brother. Can't wait for the Santa Maria! Bring it on 2021!!!
It's a pity they didn't sell a kit were you could swap over the barrels using a tool-free mechanism. I'd like both options, but I can't really justify buying both guns. Any seal between the barrel and gun would have to be a readily available generic part, and not a proprietary part they can charge an arm and a leg for.
True that. I just crossed it off on my list of searers just because of that. Anything that is requiring custom "tools" for basic functionality (power plugs etc for electronic devices) is a big no-no for me. Too bad. Looked like a good product otherwise.
Nice breakdown of the units. They definitely both have a purpose.
Thanks for watching, Doc! Now you have to get them both!

Thanks as always for your support, Milton. I will ring the bell on the end of the GrillGun for you when the time comes!!!
Thank you for this. I have bought imitations before and they didn’t use the trigger for flame Intensity and control it was merely to ignite which is lame. I thought these would operate the same. Now that I know, I’m buying one. Here’s my opinion though…there’s zero reason to have both. Just get a grill gun. You can use it for both anyways. Why limit yourself with the sous vide gun.
Do you find when you go full blast there were lots of sparks flying? I’m on a wooden deck!
Great explanation of these flame throwers and need this in my life. 😂

@@BehindTheFoodTV - Wow ! That was weak! 🙃. If nothing else I’ve learned in these pitiful 77 years on this rock after three failures is: Happy Wife: Happy Life. Sure don’t wanna screw this 35+ year relationship up over a big flame thrower; just saying. 😉
Congrats on 35 years sir! Your other option of course is using that new flamethrower to make her favorite meal 😎
Very cool! Having a hard time justifying buying both if the only benefit gained is 5" extra clearance for 15 seconds. Looks like SuV Gun is all anyone needs
Hi Greg. The only warning I'll give you about using the Su-V Gun for lighting the grill is that charcoal can spark, and blowback can be mean with the flames coming out that hard & fast. They have a combo on sale right now with both flamethrowers and the hose for $305, and you get an additional 10% off with code EMV10. But if that's still a lot to swallow, try the Su-V Gun and wear good heat gloves and long sleeves the first time you try it. If you don't like the blowback you can always go back and get the 2nd one. Will you please come back and let me know how it works out?
@@BehindTheFoodTV awesome -exactly what I was thinking. Will do!
@@BehindTheFoodTV A great feature for the longer gun would be interchangeable caps or the ability to add a more focused flame cap. Similar to a suppressor where you can change the end cap based on caliber. Obviously you’d only want change out when cool (like a suppressor). I’m sure it’s possible, it would take away from 2 products and less revenue 😉
@@Moliver1911 cool idea I will pass it on to Bob the inventor. Thanks for watching and chiming in!
Ok, so if I were to buy one of these and want to use it for both searing and starting fires, which one should I buy? Note that I currently use a BGE, but I have a Workhorse Pits1975t offset smoker arriving in a couple months.
If I could only buy one it would probably be the Su-V Gun as long as I’m not using charcoal that sparks badly (like FOGO). If it sparks you will want the additional distance of the GrillGun. I hope this helps!

Well if he doesn’t run, about 90 seconds should get him to medium-rare!
With the longer torch, does the hand trigger give more flame as its pulled or when pulled does it give only a fill flame. Basically is it like a deicer or roof torch where you get more flame the more you pull the hand lever or is it like a click trigger and you get full flame?
It’s a variable switch - the more you squeeze the more fuel and flame.
Awesome cause I'm gonna use it for detail work doing torch down roofing
I have purchased the Su-V gun with the hose. Do you find it easier to use the device with the hose attached to a large propane tank or would you recommend I get a small tank to attach directly to the SU-V Gun?
Hi Neurad. Each has its advantages. The 20lb tank last for a really long time. But it's bulky and difficult to move around. The 1lb tanks are super convenient, but more expensive. I tend to use the 20lb with my Grill Gun for lighting grills, and the 1lb for the Su-V gun for searing.
@@BehindTheFoodTV Thanks for the fast response. I am thinking that I will buy a Flame King refillable tank/kit if I go the small tank direction. I really hate having to throw away the disposable one pound propane tanks and thereby contributing to landfills.
@@bhamneurad1 that’s a great idea!
Does the GrillGun leave any gas smell or taste when after lighting the charcoal?
None at all. It burns so hot that the fuel is completely incinerated.

@@BehindTheFoodTV Yes sir, you got a subscriber till they kick me out of RUclips!
How hot does the gun get? Scared if it can burn through my pk cast aluminum grill?
Hi Xavi. It burns at about 3,000°F - which is hot enough for searing and lighting charcoal, but it's not going to melt your PK. I promise.
@@BehindTheFoodTV thanks but aint cast aluminum oxide melting point around 2000F?
@@talalztube it's actually lower than that - but you're not heating the aluminum to 3000F - you're lighting charcoal that sits on the charcoal grate and that takes less than 60 seconds. If you're really worried, DM me on IG or FB and I'll chat with both Bob from GB and the folks from PK on your behalf.
lol. that was great
#mantoys
is it safe to consume foods after you burn them with propane? thanks
Hey good question. And the answer is “absolutely”. Even if this didn’t burn at over 3000 degrees Fahrenheit incinerating any remaining fuel, people cook on propane grills every day. Get one and enjoy! (Don’t forget your discount either! Coupon EMV10)
Damm. I thought I ordered the grill gun, not knowing there was two different types. I received the Su-V gun. Didn't think anything about it. Understand I primarily got it for lighting briquettes, charcoal and log splits for my offset. So now I realize I need to order a second one, this time specifically for lighting my charcoal. Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet so to speak and get it. ( It might be noted here this isn't taking much arm twisting to do this. Being a bachelor who doesn't have to justify to the boss a reason does have some advantages at times. It's always easy to convince me to get more bbq equipment. 🙃🔥🍻

@@victorbenner539 yes sir! And I spoke with the manufacturer we discussed about the idea and he wants to help. This is going to be a thing!
@@BehindTheFoodTV good to hear.
Oh and you said you are going to have a video of a new Santa Maria in the near future, how long? I am a big fan of the Lonestargrillz products. However I'm running into some potential problems with the height of their grill. I believe I have found a food trailer I can rent for my catering business at my local farmers market for the summer season. But I don't think the inside is tall enough for transporting it. A break down version might give a manufacturer a advantage over the competition. I have heard of some folks not being able to get their nice expensive grill in the garage because of low garage door heights. Mention this to your people. Fyi, I already have a few solutions to this problem if anyone is interested. And here's a example that life is good. The folks that have the trailer have connections in Alaska. She is a cook at their family lodge in Alaska. A Salmon fishing lodge. One of their friends is a commercial fishermen who fishes up there but lives locally sells his Sockeye salmon here by the case and apparently I should be able to get it at a great price for smoking for my customers. She gave me a fillet to check out for free so guess what I'm grilling tonight. I know times are tough. But tough makes chaos, and chaos creates opportunity for those who seek them. Be prepared, right!.
How long do the 1 pound cans last?
You know I've never kept track. I fire for about 1 minute to light a fire, and I probably get 6-10 times per $3 can. I use the cans for the show BTW - for every day use I have the hose that attaches to the 20lb tank. That lasts me all season.
@@BehindTheFoodTV thanks for the response, love the channel, sounds like the 20 lb is the way to go
Can we see how they would melt snow in Chicago? :-)
Hahahahaha it’s supposed to snow here in NC next week. I have no shovel. I have no snowblower. But I have 2 FLAMETHROWERS!!!!
The searpro seems like a more balanced, ergonomic tool at 1/2 the price.
Thanks for watching, Jeremy. The SearPro is actually a recent comer to the space. Unfortunately though it’s not as balanced because the tank and barrel both have to be supported on the same side of the handle, whereas the Su-VGun and Grill Gun use the weight of the tank to create a perfect balance. Safety-wise I wouldn’t go near the SearPro. They market it as a good way to light charcoal, but it’s so short that you have to get very close to the fire and the tank is even closer. What’s worse, the SearPro does not have a gas-flow check valve, which is a key safety feature of the GrillBlazer products. This prevents liquid propane from entering the torch if it’s tilted too far or to the side, which can be extremely dangerous. IMNSHO the SearPro would be a mistake. GrillBlazer is clearly the better product.
@@BehindTheFoodTV I didn't mean balanced in the hand, neither seems heavy enough to give me concern. I mean balanced in that I can set it down where ever I want without it falling over and tripping the check valve. A gas check valve is like a $10 add-on from amazon/home depot, so I don't see that being a good excuse for costing twice as much. I personally only care about searing myself. If you want a torch to light your grill, why not a good weed torch for $50 that put out more btu than the $170+ grill gun. The grill gun just seems like an overpriced tool whose main selling point is it looks like a pistol. Honestly, I think the searpro at 1/2 the price is overpriced for what it is, but I guess that is due to economy of scale.
@@jeremytine hey again. I guess if you really don't want to use the included stand and prefer to set it down on the bottle, and you don't mind installing your own valves, and you don't care about the dead-man switch (the GrillBlazer shuts off when you take your hand off the grip, the SearPro keeps on throwing full flame while probably scooting around on the ground while you chase it), then go for it. Personally, I do business with companies that care about safety features and avoid those who skimp on safety to try to keep the costs down. But I know that not everyone values those things as much as I do.
Thanks a ton for the engagement, Jeremy. Even when I don't agree with comments, I still really value the opportunity to chat with folks out there who love BBQ!
Al
@@BehindTheFoodTV included stand is a hassle and design flaw, not a feature. The dead switch doesn't affect the top valve and isn't needed on the searpro. If anything, the grill gun is more complicated with more points of failure. I wouldn't consider it any safer, just more clumsy.
I understand your position, Jeremy. Good luck with your SearPro.
Is the Su-V Gun still working for you? I'm in the market. Your code no longer seems to provide a 10% discount...unless I'm doing something wrong. Thanks for this video.

@@BehindTheFoodTV Thanks. I ordered one with the stand and hose as I think I will probably want to hook it up to a 20 gallon propane tank to avoid straining the connection at the base of the "gun".
@@bhamneurad1 great! I hope to see you around future videos! In the video I’m publishing on 4/28 I use it in a pretty unique way I think you will enjoy.
Hey, how can i connect it to my (7/16") gas bottles?
Hi William! I reached out to Bob (the inventor and CEO of Grillblazer) and this is what he share. Sorry for the long reply but I think you'll find it helpful!
It is best to use any Propane or MAPP gas cylinder with CGA600 male threads or an adapter hose that goes to a bulk propane tank that connects with the CGA600 connector like this one: emv4.me/MAPPBottles
The Grillblazer adaptor hose connects to the P.O.L type of propane fuel tank. If your LPG tank does not have a POL type of connector you need to adapt a POL connector to it through other adapters available in your country. This adapter is a start:emv4.me/GasTankAdapter. It goes from the POL connector to a 1/4" pipe thread. That should be easy fitting to adapt to whatever LPG bottle is available in your country. Again this appears to be an opportunity for me to help international customers readily use this product.
If you can't get Propane or MAPP, be sure to use Propane/Butane blended fuels, straight Butane will not work at all well, because there is just comparatively very little pressure available to power the torch, but if that's all you got, I suppose Butane is better than matches.
Most blended fuels have a connector that connects to an en417 fitting. If that is what you have available you will need an en417 to CGA600 gas adapter, similar to the one shown in the above link.
[Al here again - if this doesn't help let me know and I'll do some more research for you. Thanks for watching!]
@@BehindTheFoodTV Thats an amazing reply, thank you for your research. I have both propane/butane mix (powergas) and ultramapp with 7/16, EN 417 standard, Lindal B188 thread/connector. I ordered the hose with my sous vide gun and the adapter shown in link above. Hoping it will all come together well, will keep you informed. Keep up your channel and amazing fan support. Have a nice day.
Thanks, William! Come back and let me know how your first torch burn goes!

The link above is the one i got next and i can confirm that this one does work.
As for the performance of the Su V gun, its amazing. It makes my burning go 3-5 times faster than with my blowtorch which was exactily what i was looking for. Doing big loads of pork and chicken is way less tedious with this because of the huge time save and also, more fire = more fun. The only downside so far is that the bottles will cool down after a while and loose efficiency so you have to have like 3 bottles to change between to keep up maximum fire power.
Have a nice day and thanks for your help.
I'm so glad it's working for you, William! I bow in the presence of the man who gets to use his so much that he has to swap bottles constantly! My advice on that is to get the hose from GrillBlazer (I show it in this video) and just attach a 20# tank (or whatever big tank you can get over there). I did 20 steaks entirely with the SuV Gun for a bunch of guys the other night and never took my hand off the trigger grip! Enjoy my new friend!

400k BTU??? OMG!!!
EXACTLY! Want another fun MANLY tidbit? The flame burns at over 3000 degrees Fahrenheit!!!!!! Thanks for watching Peter!
That good grass fed beef is gonna taste like butane now..lol
Actually it doesn’t - for several reasons. First of all this uses propane, which tastes nothing like butane. But more importantly it is designed to burn the entirety of the fuel - so there is zero propane to leave a taste. Thanks for watching tho!
...but am I really man enough? 😜
