  • 1M High perimeter garden fence that I completed last week. This fence was required to enclose the garden to help contain the family dog. The fence required gravel boards to help keep the rabbits off the grass. Two custom made gates were added for access.

Nice job again Barry. Don’t often see the track saw in action. Hope the DeWalt is behaving now!

Cheers Neil, yes, the Dewalt is holding up for the moment, will keep an eye on it ! The track saw is one of my most used tools nowadays, I love that thing !

I am not a expert in fencing but I think concrete posts are far better to use than wooden posts. The wooden posts will eventually rot and very strong winds can toss a wooden fence with wooden posts a lot easier compared to a wooden fence with concrete posts.

Yes, but concrete posts look terrible, most people I do work for will not use them for this reason. Wooden posts, if installed correctly will be good for 15-20 years which is a good trade off as they look a lot nicer. The only way winds "toss" a wooden fence is if the posts are rotten at the base where they contact the ground. I suppose it is up to the individual, but personally I prefer the look of wooden posts as opposed to concrete. Thanks for the comment 👍

@@Bacrenfencing They might look terrible concrete posts but they can be painted brown with masonry paint to match the colour of the fence if brown is the colour of your fence not a big job to do. I have a lot of fencing around my property and I would not entertain wooden posts they do not hold up in the long run even with concrete holding them in the ground. Concrete posts will cost more than wooden posts and are heavier to lift but in my humble opinion concrete posts will last far longer than wooden posts thanks for reply 👍

I'm building a fence at the moment on top of my double skinned wall. I'm fitting the posts to the back of thewall, fixing my rails and then using feather edge boards.
Do you have any advice on how I could get the fence to sit flush or nearly flush with the front of the wall? Should I put some packing on the post before fitting the rails to bring it further forward?
I'm at a loss! I can't fit the posts directly on top as the wall is old and worn. It looks odd with the fence sat so far back on the wall. Appreciate a ny help. Cheers

Yes, best to pack it out with pressure treated timbers to get the desired location. That is what I would do

How do you find the Makita track saw ? which model is that? I have other Makita tools on the same 18v platform and was thinking about getting the Track saw.

Hi Hugh, it is the Makita 36v DSP600 and it is the best tool that I have bought in a long time. I adore this thing, it is one of those tools that you debate whether or not to get and then when you do get one, you honestly don't know why you did not get one sooner. I have the 1M track and the 1.5M track but will probably get the long 3M track this year. Brilliant bit of kit - Highly recommended, you will not regret buying this ! Cheers 👍
