Arguably the most criminally underrated sci fi film of the 21st century. This movie doesn't get as much love as it deserves. I was mesmerized by Sam Rockwell in this. He deserved an Oscar nomination.

@@MrMarioguy888 I've seen it three times as well. I thought I would not like it that much the second time, because I knew what will happen, but I loved it even more, because I felt Rockwells acting even stronger. When I watched it the third time, it connected me so much to my fathers dying process (he had passed away a few months before), I was absolutely stunned.
If aliens one day consider our species as unworthy, the underrating of this movie will be a main argument.

When I watched moon the first i was terribly sad, because I left all my family behind due economic situation and war in my homeland. Remember when he said: "I wanna go home" and he knew that he won't be able to see again because he was a clone, well then I was feeling exactly the same, I felt his loneliness.

Finally!!! been looking for validation since 2009. This movie hit me hard, and not many movies have done that for me. It's just all those things Impression Blend described and a wide range of emotions all coming at you. Once you get hit by the bombshell in that scene you'll understand what I mean. You can feel what the character is feeling through out the movie after the plot is revealed to you. This movie is deep and the Sci-fy is just cake frosting for those space lovers like me. Thanks for the recognition this movie deserves. It's a Gem among a sea of plastics.

Moon is one of my favourite sci-fi movies, and is part of a trend of intelligent thought-provoking indie sci-fi, like Coherence (definitely watch it!), Predestination, Ex Machina, and Snowpiercer. These films are far more interesting than recent big-budget sci-fi movies (and blockbusters in general), and I hope this trend continues. Ok, movies I'd love to see you review:
    - Mulholland Dr. (my second favourite movie, after the LOTR trilogy)
    - Cloud Atlas (one of the most ambitious movies ever made)
    - Spirited Away & Howl's Moving Castle (my favourite anime movies)
    - The Grand Budapest Hotel (Wes Anderson's finest, and definitely something for you)
    - Inglourious Basterds (my favourite Tarantino movie, and yours too IIRC)
    - The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (childhood nostalgia, and somewhat forgotten, but I love it)

Just finished watching "Moon". At first I thought the movie was just going to copy "2001: A Space Odyssey", but I'm glad it went the other direction. Definitely drew some inspirations from other sci-fi movies as well but I thought for the most part it was original. I like "Moon" a lot because it has that "mystery" element to it as well. My only complaint is that I felt like the ending was a bit rushed and they could have "resolve" it better.

O.K., but, really, why do they even need the Sam clones? I mean, from everything we're shown, the person does very little - it seems, for at least several days (i.e., the span of the film's story) - contributory to any sort of mission. The miners run themselves, and G.E.R.T.Y. likely can do just fine in maintaining the base. Would the cost even be worth it of having manufactured evidently hundreds of clones - any one of which, upon just a few snafus, could bring down the entire operation?

It's one of the best sci-fi movies that's so realistic so human and it made you think like Stanley Kubrick's 2001 A Space Odyssey. It is in my top 10 of best sci-fi movies. I think Sam Rockwell did an excellent job and he managed to give some comic relief as serious as the plot was. Kevin Spacey as the voice of Gertie was very comforting the exact opposite of Hal of 2001 A Space Odyssey

Moon is a very underrated film. Check out these other great Sci fi films. Capricorn One, Gattaca, Love (2011), Melancholia, and Forbidden Planet...Sam Rockwell was awesome in "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford"., Yes i know it's a long ass title for a film, but def worth checking out.

Love your movie reviews because your commentary is so observant of all the important aspects of a film. Speaking of film, did you see Maggie (2015) yet? :D

This sounds so good. As somebody who loved The Martian and those kinds of scifi films, I'm adding this to my watch list. I always like Sam Rockwell in films as well, so that's another plus!

This is VERY different from _The Martian_, much more introverted, though I guess the isolation part is similar. Check it out, for sure!

I just watched it because of your review, it was really great thanks. I have a little question though. The name of the Lunar station was "Sarang", it was written in English and Korean. Does that mean he works for a Korean company? Is there any behind story that maybe that Korean company took over the world? I wonder what's the behind story of this movie.

PrankFrank maybe you should watch it less a a science fiction film and be worried about the lore "inside" the film. Instead try to so similarities between the film and real life.
My girlfriend said "what's it all about?clones life 3 year's?" I said " it's about working class which work all day long they're whole life in hope to have a good time in they're pension!but in the end it's all a lie. You are treated like a machine. The last minute is essential for this message, because even if he tryd to left the system there is no escape and he will be put to jail.
That name of the company sound Asian is no coincidence: there are people right now working in such big company's that they have they're own kindergarten and cemetery ,every day , just to feed other people with smartphones plastic toys and other shit.
I hope you understand me.english is not my 1st language.
