    If anyone is thinking about getting amp....DO IT! It's tones are very good. It's not as versatile as other amp in its price range (built in fx etc) but it's focused on quality sound is the best.

    • @toro514
      @toro514 6 лет назад +3

      Jesse Bonales that's a tough question. Depends on the player. When I was younger I had every pedal/fx I could get. But now I do the opposite rarely i run a distortion (mxr) and maybe a noisegate or delay. I basically keep it as direct/simple as possible. Good luck!

    • @toro514
      @toro514 6 лет назад +2

      Jesse Bonales but also to answer a bit better, I kinda like the peavy vip 1. You could find them for about 100. And they have a lot to offer with a very decent tone but it's very small and I'm not crazy about how it starts to breakup when you put it up loud. For a about the same price as the Orange you could look at the Marshall code 50. Lots of different settings and more than just a practice amp.

  • @RalphARoo

    Just bought this amp. Sounds better than the Fender Blues Jr, way more options, a tuner, effects loop, etc... And HALF the price! Incredible

    • @DucksDeLucks
      @DucksDeLucks 8 лет назад +3

      +Skelton Bones The Fender has 3 way EQ and a 12 inch speaker. It ought to play quite a bit louder, despite having only 15 watts. Have you compared them in that respect? Don't get me wrong, the Orange looks like a great buy.

    • @RalphARoo
      @RalphARoo 8 лет назад +5

      DucksDeLucks
      I had 2 Fender Blues Jr's years ago, both made in USA. Sold the first one, regretted it, then bought another, which I had for 13 years before selling that to a friend. The Orange has 3 way EQ also, as well as an effects loop, tuner, and a closed back cabinet. Now, to be honest, I never had the Orange in a side by side comparison to a Fender Blues Jr in terms of volume. But from what I remember, the 35 solid state watts are equal or greater than the Fender 15 tube watts. I could be wrong, but man, this new amp kicks butt!

    • @DucksDeLucks
      @DucksDeLucks 8 лет назад +1

      Skelton Bones It's hard to compare wattage ratings for a number of reasons. A twelve will play louder for the same wattage as a ten, other things being equal. The tube advantage is greater on crunch than on cleans, since the advantage consists in the ability to sound good when distorting. Solid state crunch is actually clean that's been doctored to sound distorted. Anyway, would you say the Orange is as loud, more or less?

    • @RalphARoo
      @RalphARoo 8 лет назад +5

      +DucksDeLucks Yes! I would bring the Orange to any jam or gig situation that I would take my old Juniors to. Although the tubes do have a more natural sounding distortion, the gain channel of the Orange goes from a slight breakup to full on heavy crunch and everything in between. The Blues Jr always left me feeling like I wanted more low end, where the Orange 35rt has plenty with the closed back design. I agree that the wattage can't be compared from tubes to solid state. I would like to see the two amps in a side by side comparison.

    Just thought I'd put in my two cents. This is one of those amps I had no need for...but I wanted it. :P Zero regrets. Thing sounds absolutely fantastic for a solid state amp and it also takes pedals like a champ. Best part of all is this amp sounds NOTHING like anything else I've bought. That alone makes it a total blast to mess around with. Just keep it mind it's not going to "Djent" or anything, at least not without a pedal or two. But at least for me, that's not what I bought it for.

      Hello, Nathan. Thanks for your interest! The Crush 35RT has a footpedal input on the back of the amp. You can use this in conjunction with an Orange FS-1 foot switch to change between your amp's channels. Please give me a call if you have anymore questions.

    • @Daemoniacus100
      @Daemoniacus100 8 лет назад +2

      well, it's a loud amp but it depends on if you have a loud drummer, and also the dynamics of the room itself...but I suggest you mic the amp for best results...best of luck :)

      Sorry but I have a 40 Fender Champion multi effects many simulations amp. If you will pay shipping I will give it to you. No comparison not even close to any Orange amp. It sounds awful unless you invest in a real speaker then you have a kids amp with a $100 speaker. To answer your question I'd say yes. If you need to blow glasses off the tables get the 60CR.

      @sweetwater  5 лет назад +2

      Hello! There are a few variables that would dictate a "yes" or "no" answer to your question. If you're not going to mic up the amp, I'd recommend something higher wattage or something with a tube power stage. If possible, please give us a call, we'd love to talk you through finding the amp that would work best for the music you want to make!

    What do you guys suggest I put my knobs to if I want some metal

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  4 года назад +3

      Hi, Tyler! That's a great question. The answer is really up to you! For metal, you'll probably want to flip the switch to the "Dirty" channel. Start with the Bass, Mid, Treble, and gain knobs straight up; the Reverb knob turned down; and the Dirty volume knob to your desired loudness. From there, you can make adjustments based on what you want to hear. For example: if you want a more distorted tone, turn up the Gain knob; if you want your guitar to cut through the mix a bit more, turn up the "Mid" knob; if you want your notes to echo, turn up the Reverb. There's no right or wrong, so keep making small adjustments until you hear a sound that you feel best expresses the sound in your head. If you have any questions about dialing in your tone, give me a call at the number below. Thanks for your interest!

  • @RaYtAy151

    Hey guys I need help:
    I'm going to college this fall and I need to get a new amplifier since I can't find an easy way to bring my Dark Terror with me. As of right now my choices are this amp and the micro dark (with a Hughes & Kettner 1x12 Cab most likely, not the PPC108 because it sounds bad). What do you guys recommend? So far these are the pros and cons of each.
    Crush 35RT:
    -Pros: Cheaper option (compared to the Micro Dark WITH a 1x12 cab), has a lot more features (3-band EQ/Reverb/Tuner/Dedicated Clean Channel), has all the features the micro dark has (fx loop & headphone output)
    -Cons: Just doesn't sound as good as Micro Dark based on videos I've watched (only slightly worse though), not as portable as the micro dark IF I am NOT bringing the Micro Dark's cabinet too, Has 10" speaker, can't hook up to other cabinets,
    Micro Dark:
    -Pros: can use variety of cabinets, much more portable (if I don't have to carry its 1x12 Cab to gigs), sounds better, I love the sound of my Dark Terror so I know I will love this amp,
    -Cons: Not as many features as Crush 35RT, may not be necessarily more portable if you have to carry its cabinet too,
    So what makes me lean to the Crush is the more features it has, but the fact that it's cheaper doesn't make me lean to it too much. What makes me go for the Micro Dark is that it has a better tone (based on videos I've watched). It's most likely because the Micro Dark was hooked to a 4x12 in the videos I've watched. So what do you guys think? Crush 35RT or Micro Dark? Get both? Are there other amplifiers that have the best of both? My maximum budget atm is $500, but I may be able to raise it by doing summer jobs.

      +Harrison Carmichael I have it. The clean sound is beautiful, like butter. The dirty channel on the other hand, I have to admit is pretty bad. It's very boxy, and hoarse. It seems no matter how much you scoop the mid on the amp, it still sounds like a blown speaker on dirty. I'd suggest a boss katana if you're more of a rocker.

    Hi Don - GREAT demo as always! I can't decide between this or the Orange Micro Dark and a 1x12 cab(probably a Bugera as I am a disabled military veteran and must live on a very limited income). Any advice? Also, how do they handle pedals?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  8 лет назад +4

      tony93666, that depends on the sound you're after and how you'll use it. The Micro Dark excels at the heavy stuff and the Crush 35RT lives more in the "classic" territory. It also has clean and dirty channels. Cranked, both amps are fine for rehearsal, small performances, recording, etc. The both have FX loops and do great with gain and/or time-based effects. The Crush is a combo; self-contained, carry in one hand, and the Micro Dark is a feather-weight, tiny head that needs a separate cabinet. It's a matter of preference, really. They're both great amps that hit their intended mark. Happy hunting!
      Thanks, Don Carr

      SweetwaterSound thanks very much for your reply! I play & record mainly 'stoner rock-doom metal' like Kyuss & Electric Wizard, which has that old school sound, often pushed with a fuzz, but also like to play thrash metal like Exodus & Kreator for fun... I think the 35rt will do for my main sound, then I can use a pedal for the tighter, more modern tones. Thanks again!

    • @bigal6669
      @bigal6669 7 лет назад +1

      so, did you get the 35RT? how did it work for your purposes? How did it Doom? I am considering the 20RT / 35RT for practice/recording/rehearsals/small jams. everything about it sounds perfect for what i need it other than the question of can it compete with a bass and a drumset? not on a stage, i would never use it for a performance, but like in a practice/rehersal/jam situation, do you think it is loud enough to hold its own?
      Because if I can use this for rehearsal/jams it is worth every $$$ so i don't have to carry a bigger rig (tube amp + 4x12 cab)
