    Dude! 3 years later I found this amp stored away in the back of a music store in a small town. Asked how much and started researching. Your video was the last one before I walked out the door to go buy this thing. Got her for $170 used. It looks and sounds perfect. Paired it with a Fender FMT HH Custom Tele and YOU ARE RIGHT! She growls/screams at you on those pulls. I can hold a harmonic on a LOW volume setting.. a singing squealing harmonic. Subscribed. Thanks brother!

      I'd just like to add:
      I want to say how happy I am. I was a Marshall guy my entire life. I had one of those suckers when I was 16. Ahhhh.. the memories. BUT!
      The "Juicy" thing is what sold me. It's what rings true to my style and the sound that I want to hear. That's the important thing.
      Getting your amp to translate the sound from your head to your ears. Having said that, I'm giddy.
      The tuning light strip, the headphone out, the loop... but most of all the grittiness. Just outstanding really.
      Also, I keep playing this video back trying to cop Mike's licks. Right up my alley. :-) (I'm sure that didn't hurt with the decision during research) LOL

    I've retired my Fender 75watt combo and switched to this. A quarter of the weight and as loud as f***. It honestly sounds more valvey than a valve amp. Great for pub gigs and tons of tone without pushing the volume up.

      I bought one 2 years ago.I liked the Orange sound so much that I stepped up a notch and bought my first tube amp.The Orange Rocker15 combo that has the gold label votw 10 inch speaker that has a sensitivity of 101DB.It hits 105DB without breaking a sweat and the speaker isn't broken even broken in yet.The 35rt I now use for practicing and even have it hooked up 24/7 to my tv lol. Orange rocks.I wish I had a custom shop 50 head .To cover all the bases.I don't own any other amps but Orange 🤷😂

    Sweet demo! I've had this amp now for about a month now and love it. Ran into the smaller brother (the 20RT) on craigslist this past week for a steal price and cashed it out and now I run my 35RT and 20RT in stereo mode with my pedalboard. The clean channels on these amps are very nice! Especially in stereo mode.. Great amps for the money..

    • @Mike2of5Martin
      @Mike2of5Martin  9 лет назад +2

      Probably not quite as high as you might think. I tend to look for heavier tones starting at 11:00 and turn it up from there only as much as needed to get that sound. I doubt I'm more than 65-70% up there.

  • @michaeldstern
    @michaeldstern 9 лет назад +9

    I just got one and I will say this thing is fantastic. The tones at low volumes are probably the best I've heard. Maybe the most fun small amp to play through ever? And I've had them all. However, I wish it was dead silent. Most other solid state amps have zero noise when turned on. This amp compresses your signal ALOT too. So Orange, if you could fix 2 things I'd love it not to compress so much and silence it! Next version please!

  • @mondovila4106

    I just came back from Guitar Center Hollywood, CA, not buying the amp because I was told by the expert there that you can't use the headphone jack as a line out to a mixer for recording. And here you prove him wrong. Going back for the amp. Thanks.

    • @Mike2of5Martin
      @Mike2of5Martin  8 лет назад

    • @mondovila4106
      @mondovila4106 8 лет назад

      Hey, Mike! I bought the amp and I love it, but I'm getting very low levels into my mixer and Sonar X2 but enough to record, just less than -20 db at full blast from the amp. Problem is that it makes crackling noises when I hit the strings just a little too hard. I tried three different stereo 1/4" cables out of the amp into the mixer and I have it pretty much all the way up on the mixer. Any idea? Not sure if I have a defective amp. Thanks!

    • @Mike2of5Martin
      @Mike2of5Martin  8 лет назад +1

      +Mondo Vila First thing I would do is try headphones and make sure your getting good output. If that's good, your audio interface probably can be switched from "instrument" input to "line level". If that doesn't work, try another channel on the interface. Let me know if any of that helps!

    • @mondovila4106
      @mondovila4106 8 лет назад +3

      Thanks, Mike. You were right, one of the channels on my mixer was dodgy. I switched, and it works. I checked everything but that. lol. Cheers!

    Question, at 2:57, you're on the clean channel, yet it sounds dark and almost kind of "thuddy". Did you have treble rolled off on amp and/or guitar? It's a very weird sort of "clean tone". I was just looking for videos as I was thinking of pickup one up, but that sound is weird enough to be a deal-breaker. I realize this was a long time ago..but perhaps you recall? Either way, thanks for whatever info you can provide.

    • @Mike2of5Martin

      @Mike2of5Martin  8 лет назад +1

      I actually don't know! I would want to play them side by side to see how they differ under close inspection. I can say that the 20RT is fantastic though and I have not played the DX yet.

    • @MrShadowofthewind
      @MrShadowofthewind 7 лет назад +3

      The BrainDit 20LDX is a modeling amp with alot of digital effects, and is an older crush model so it does not have the improved sound that the newer ones have with voice of the world speakers improved EQ and gain structure, the RT versions do have a digital reverb though, i am going to sell my modeling amp to buy one of these orange crush amps, probably a regular crush 20 because i allready have a polytune clip and because the reverb is still digital, but i tell you that fully analog solid state sounds so much better then the digital modeling stuff, louder, true'er and more responsive, Orange says that the internal structure is similair to tube amps where each EQ section has it's own path just like a tube amp, and you can hear it.

    • @nathanc6611
      @nathanc6611 7 лет назад +2

      Not sure what version of the LDX you have, cuz my 35LDX isn't modelling, but it does have the digital FX.
      I think you're getting confused between modelling and FX. The RT line has lost the digital effects. Neither model line is modelling - it's just one amp sound with the usual tone controls.
      I'd be keen to check out an RT - I'd love to have a footswitch on the OD, and plug my Zoom G5 into the effects loop for modulations etc!

    sounds less muddy than older orange amps. do they have a better speaker now?

    • @Mike2of5Martin
      @Mike2of5Martin  8 лет назад +1

      +BuddyJesusSmokes Not sure what speaker was in the older ones if they weren't Vintage 30's but this one is the "Voice Of The World" speaker. All Orange amps have a ton of bottom end so depending on what guitar you're playing will make a difference in how you want to set the EQ controls. I find it's better to have more than you need!

    Will this accept a 12in 4ohm speaker..i heard a 12in will fit the 35 dlx..i have a old 12in celestion 4ohm from the 80's that soumds great..would like to swap them out..thanks

      +Dave Loudin I would need to check with the folks at Orange to be sure. If the amp is set to a fixed 8ohm speaker output then I would imagine not. Not sure if that info is posted on the website or not: www.orangeamps.com

    Could you gig this in a small venue (like 4-5 by 15 m or smth), no PA? rock band.
    I'm actually just wondering

    • @profd65
      @profd65 4 года назад +1

      If you have drums in your band, I'd say probably not. Then again, if your drummer is fairly mellow, maybe. There's a YT video where Rob Chapman is playing a 50w Boss Katana with a drummer and bass player and the Katana is loud enough. A 50w amp is louder than a 35w amp, but not by a whole lot. Actually, doubling the wattage of an amp only results in an extra 3dB of loudness, assuming both amps are using the same speaker. The Katana does have a 12" speaker, though, whereas the Orange has a 10".

    Hey, sorry to be back again with another question, but I'm trying to sort out all the "features" of a few things I've been looking up. This Crush 35RT seems to be an awesome choice, small and portable yet still large enough and with enough features to be something we'd grow into instead of something we'd grow out of. With the footswitchable channels, I'm guessing you'd dial up a clean and dirty sound, and then be able to switch back and forth as you're playing ... but can you help me understand the send/return for the pedals? Does this work like an "insert" , after the channel has "colored" the sound the way you want, then the signal goes through the pedals and back into the output section of the amp...? Not sure if I'm understanding this right. If that's how it works, you could use say a looping pedal, play a rhythm, then change to the other channel and jam over the loop, and changing channels won't change the sound of the loop as it would if you had the looper pedal "in-line" before the connection to the amp's input... am I on the right track? Thanks again for the input, subbed...

    • @Mike2of5Martin
      @Mike2of5Martin  9 лет назад +1

      Isaiah Furrow The effects loop is after the preamp but before the power amp. This is where you would want to put a delay pedal or reverb (though the reverb on this amp is great!). So whatever happens before the input of the amp and the preamp, like a wah pedal, modulation or an overdrive pedal works with the clean or dirty channels. If you use a looper pedal in the effects loop, you can change channels and it will not effect the looper since the looper comes after the preamp "color" as it were. I hope that helps!

    you play very nice, man thank you,this is exactly my kind of interest, i just have a question please, i decided to buy one of these series, my question is, does the 20 version gives a good sound similar to the one you are playing now? or its more different?, by the way i am using it only for home studio and practicing, and i am looking particularly for a Billy Gibbons jimmy page kind of tunes. cheers and thanks again.

    my english is not very good... so I did not understand something from the description... you can connect the "headphone out" to a mixer??? will sound good??? or is better tu use a microphone???

    • @Mike2of5Martin
      @Mike2of5Martin  8 лет назад +1

      +Gerzain corral Yes, the "headphone out" can be plugged directly into a mixer or a recording interface and it sounds great! I still prefer the sound of putting a microphone on the speaker, but if you don't have that option, the Cab Sim feature is amazing!

      I would suspect 35w solid state and the one voice of the world speaker (efficiency 101db) to reach about 110db. Drummers are around 115 db in my experience. I would love to know the actual decibel output of the Crush 35RT!

    Hey, I'm back... :) I got to check out another music shop today. They let me have a good listen to a Squier Strat with a humbucker at the bridge position, and Squier Telecaster. I liked the Tele sounds on neck and middle position. I also got to listen to both guitars through Fender Champion 40W , and a Blackstar 30W with tube emulation and other bits... it was loud, and a full warm sound, but about $350. The Fender 40W was acceptable, and he said it would be just big enough to play with a drum kit. He said the 35RT would likely be louder than the Fender, comparable to the Blackstar. Would you say this would keep up with a drum kit as long as the drummer wasn't playing excessively loud? By the way, thanks again for the video, and replies. The jams on this video sound great through my monitoring cans, what did u record this with?

    • @Mike2of5Martin
      @Mike2of5Martin  9 лет назад

      Isaiah Furrow I think this would be suitable for practicing with a drummer as long as they don't play too loud. If you needed any more volume you could always put a microphone in front of the speaker and put it in whatever PA you may have for vocals and whatnot. This was recorded with an sE XR1 ribbon mic straight into Pro Tools.

    Could I possibly use the headphone jack to hook up this amp to a cab or a large speaker, given that the speaker has its own power supply?

    • @Mike2of5Martin
      @Mike2of5Martin  8 лет назад

      A powered speaker, monitor or PA, yes but the headphone out will not power a passive speaker cabinet.

  • @Boingusboingus
    @Boingusboingus 8 лет назад

    I just bought one and it has a weird decay on the overdrive, almost like a rattle. I thought the speaker was faulty but it seems they all sound like this. Anyone else noticed?
