@@オールマイト-y1f and yours sounds like Ola's? Im a beginner, bought a 35RT, and it sounds not at all like this video. I mean my guitar has a cheap set of $20 humbuckers, could that be it? I read a long thread where pros were telling this guy to get better amps and play for 5 years instead of buying some EMGs because that wouldn't help it sound better....I've learned like all the rhythm from 2 Metallica songs but even just open e chugs sound so crappy I'm not excited to play anymore. But I keep thinking if I adjust the knobs somehow...I bought an OD pedal, that just sounded worse. It's really disappointing.
@@gentelmanjunkie542 Hi Mate, It sounds like either you've not dialed in your knobs properly or it might be the pickups. Firstly for Metallica stuff. I'd start with the heavier sound. Gain 9, Bass 9, A low mid of 2-4 and a low high treble 6-8. I'd then play with the dirty and clean channels for what you prefer. The humbuckers muddiness will have a big effect on whether the dirty channel or the clean channel is usable. If you still don't improve the sound. Now onto the subject of Humbuckers. Yeah what you've been told is only half right. IF you've got a semi decent guitar and some decent electrics then yeah. Upgrading your humbuckers etc wont give you as much impact. The return of quality of sound ratio on humbuckers are significantly less if you are starting at a decent level. Though if you have shitty ones then buying some decent ones that don't have to be massively expensive jsut a decent set. Can be a huge difference. The difference between bad and good is huge in comparison to good and more good expensive. Take your guitar into a guitar shop. Ask if you can use some amps as your not sure your guitar sounds right. Dial in the same tone for the amp and also try an orange amp aswell. Just encase your camps not fubar'd. Then compare it with a 700 - 1200 quid humbucker guitar. Try a gibson a PRS and an esp on the same amps with the same settings. You'll find out quick if it's your humbuckers or not after that. I'd lay off your Overdrive pedal while testing it out. And when using the overdrive pedal humbuckers can be quite bassy and muddy. The tone knobs on OD's are usualy high cuts So you'd probably want to be at past 12 oclock on it to keep clarity of sound but not to far past it. And your drive up quite far. Volume knobs on OD's can really be a bit independent of the device and whats on your signal chain. Some will need to be really low other will need to be right up. So jsut play with that to get it right,
@@gentelmanjunkie542 are you playing with the volume quite low? I've got the 20RT, and it blows the walls down when I turn the volume over 3, but the dirty channel doesn't really open up unless it's playing loud. The 35RT must be a lot louder.

I'm using a Crush 20 non RT (RT was twice the price for tune and reverb...) and that's ridiculously loud. The gain is insane as well... Really enjoying this little combo.

Stupid loud, so much I can use it as a vocal monitor on small venues (full band, punk rock). I never turn it upwards of 2 at home. I bet it could do full band jams no problem. And yeah, controls placement are but a pain. Power switch on the back, inverted EQ knobs, input jack on the right, gain and clean volume knobs close together while dirty volume on the other side of the universe... Fortunately, that's about all there is to hate about this amp.
I had the Orange Crush 35RT and I can tell you now…for being a practice amp or just a good little apartment amp…you can’t go wrong for the price. The fact that it sounds close to a tube amp while being solid state really shows how awesome orange really is. My only gripe is it gets a little muddy and over saturated sounding at higher volume. I plugged my metal muff into the front of it and it cleans up quite well. Very good amp for the price honestly.
1:18 I love the chugs. This will be my first amp I'll be buying hopefully soon. Fingers crossed my wife lets me. My mate let me borrow if Fender strat until I can buy my own guitar this August for my birthday. I only been playing for one month and I love it. Cheers Ola for the Chug review
Sorry to ask you this question, but you are the most recent person to comment. Anyway, do you know if the headphone jack out can be connected to the line in of a computers sound card to record, and will the Orange 4x12 cab sim sound be what is being recorded ?
@@insidiousprophet1049 Yeah it should. You boost the volume of the dirt/ clean channel and connect it in the soundcard aux in. It's a 1/4" jack in the Orange btw.
Really love the sound of an amp chugging. Puts a sinister smile on my face and follow it with a hell yeah. Never did understood why some people call it djent.according to my office mate its the sound.but all i hear are bone crushing chugs from my amps.
A few months ago I took my amp (Marshall DSL100HR) into the shop for a warranty repair on a factory "defect". I love that amp btw, best most versatile amp I've ever owned. I prefer the dsl100hr to the old dsl100's and even jcm800/900s. But while it was in the shop I almost picked one of these orange amps up. Out of all the Solid state amps I've ever played I've only genuinely enjoyed and liked the sound of one, the orange cr120. It's a solid state most notably the overall volume/ output on the cr120 is what gives it away. But it still gets reasonably loud and sounded excellent. I ended up not getting the 20rt and made it by using plugins. If I do get another amp it will be the cr120 or a stage right el84 tube amp. Those stage right 15w tube amps are an amazingly good deal, real spring reverb, effects loop, extension cab out, all tube, 3 band eq, celestion speaker all for $249. It's basically a blues Jr. clone. My marshall has amazing cleans, overdrive and full on distortion but it would be cool to have the American sound also for single coil stuff. Plus I could finally have a stereo rig lol.
I actually have this amp, I also bought a FAB metal pedal to see how bad it would sound, and surprisingly, it sounded really good, like really really good! It sounds better with the amp on the dirty channel but with the distortion down but with a distortion or overdrive pedal on
@Nik Reynolds Doom metal and Stoner rock is the shit my guy. In a nutshell it's basically Black Sabbath inspired metal. You should most definitely check out Uncle Acid and The Deadbeats they are probably one of my favorites. or just go for the classic Black Sabbath, can't go wrong with them.
This got a bad rap from a lot of Marshall users but I have the Code 100 & it chugs just fine after a lil fine tuning & works well w/ the guitar workstations I use it with.
Orange Amps are really great. I dont have the exact amp, but I have an Orange Crush 12 watt I recently got. Very versatile! Sounds impressive like damn
Hey brother, youve taught me a shit ton regarding metal and how to chugg. Thank you. I'm not sure if you get thanked enough, but from me, i thank you for being one of my musical inspirations.
Peavey bandit 112. Will it chug. Overdrive in front. Use the high gain channel. Unless you hate all midrange frequencies... then use the modern setting
It’s amazing how Ola is in one of the heaviest bands on earth and makes some of the most aggressive music known to man yet, he’s actually just a really cool and down to earth guy.
Gordon C Notice I said one of the heaviest bands on earth. I’m fully aware that there are other bands out there. I like variety. There’s nothing wrong with variety. I was referring more to my opinion that Ola is just a pretty cool guy.
Always gotta have that one-upper annoying kid in class going "Um, actually..." and proceeding to incorrect anything anyone says. Ola is rad. His band is heavy. Gordon is that annoying kid. Rock on dude.
Does it chug? Starts chugging before the timer starts. I am late to the game with Orange in general. I knew lots of sludgy and doomy bands I like use them, but I got my first one, a Brent Hinds Terror I run through 2x12 Creambacks, not too long ago. Now any time I run into one in real life I notice that they all sound good, no matter which model it is. Even this little "practice" amp sounds fantastic. Good job, Orange. Keep it up!
Also, Orange amps have always had a decent amount of gain to their amps. A little on the warm fuzzy side, but for being amps some what geared towards doom, and 60's or 70's classic metal, these amps are pretty cool.
As a practice amp, this is an awesome little thing. I've had one for three years, and I've been really surprised by how good it sounds. I would love to one day see you do another Orange, maybe the Rockverb? That would be awesome.
i got a crush 35rt.... and maaaaan it chugs good! and for a 10inch speaker, it sounds really good, and it is loud!!! love it! turn up the volume and try again! read, these amps are designed to act like tube amps. the more you crank it, they get more angry! try! greetings from bavaria!
Ive had this amp for two weeks now and I’ve watched a ton of reviews on this amp before I decided to buy it. Hands down probably one of the best amps on the market in this price range.
2nd Round Comment: This is why I dig my 35RT... 35 watts with FX loop. Although, I warm it up with a high voltage dual tube preamp (EHX Black Finger compressor). I gotta check out that pedal, tho! I've been using my TS mini too tighten things up and get the chug! But the sound you got was fantastic for a minimal rig.
Orel Arokidas I have the 60 watt version and I boost it with a modded Tube Screamer (it sounds good but not great) but I wanted to see if he could get a better tone out of it than I could (I’m sure he could). If you have any recommendations I would love to try them to see how they sound.
Of course it can chug, just use the od 2, tvp at 6l6s and gain at 6 or 7. And if u think it needs more gain just boost the amp with a clean booster. There are tons of videos of ppl playing metal and chugging with the id tvp seties. For a solid state amp they r amaizing.
I think this might be my 1st amp, I've been looking for days and I'm fed up, Ola just sealed the deal making this fooker chug in 1 min. I can just snake your settings from this video LOL.
Spends a minute trying to figure out the hieroglyphics, makes it chug in 7 seconds. LOL. I own this amp, perfect for solo practicing or just jamming in the living room.
Maybe there could be a new series named " Will it burp?", where Ola tries different kinds of contained air and finds out how to boost the burping by swallowing air.
In 2010, I saw Big Elf open for Porcupine Tree. The guitarist was playing through an Orange stack that was cranking out some serious Sabbath-like tones. Like "Sweet Leaf" heavy. Yeah, Orange can do metal.
I run a Friedman BE-OD in front of it, and an MXR 10 band EQ through the loop, and OMG is it freaking AMAZING!!! I used to use a Fullbore Metal in front, but since getting the Friedman the Fullbore is now on the shelf.

@@jesseclaborn749 uhh yea except pantera
@@vladionescu8222 there are a lot heavier bands out there though
@@AS-Stardust yea heavy chug chug such drop q much wow, dime played heavy while having feel and soul no other guitar player will ever have
Maaaaaan! you really can make any amp sound amazing! keep at it Ola!
Cheers from Mexico!
Maybe your wife could buy you a guitar for your birthday ? And ya, buy the amp. If it sounds good here, it'll sound even better live. You will love it
I hope u got that guitar and amp bro✌️
My wife did buy me a Jackson Dinky guitar and 30w Laney amp
hell yeah my man, what a great family
now is my first amp
Just bought the 35RT these little amps are MADNESS!
Should do a will it chug Korg Miku episode!
Dalton Rothacher A thousand times yes.
Agreed
Amazing
Absolutely brilliant idea, why didn't I think of that?
For some reason I see or hear Miku everywhere. The pedal gods are speaking.
That little amp actually sounds pretty damn good. I wasn’t expecting that at all.
3:24 I immediately reminded, from that short little chug riff, of "At The Gates Of Sleep" - Insomnium
I actually have this amp, I also bought a FAB metal pedal to see how bad it would sound, and surprisingly, it sounded really good, like really really good! It sounds better with the amp on the dirty channel but with the distortion down but with a distortion or overdrive pedal on
I have this same amp and it is also great for playing acoustic guitar thru it. Nice and clear and full for a small amp.
I mean, isn't orange kinda made for metal and rock tones.
@Nik Reynolds check out Kyuss, Fu Manchu, and Acid King. They're one of the greats
@@LysergicJesus Also check out my friends Pentagram, the Skull, Iron Man (RIP Al Morris)
This got a bad rap from a lot of Marshall users but I have the Code 100 & it chugs just fine after a lil fine tuning & works well w/ the guitar workstations I use it with.
Request for Will It Chug: the PIGNOSE 7-100, legendary one-knob battery powered amplifier as used by Frank Zappa in the 1970's.
I’m actually buying one today and this vid has concreted my purchase

*Me seeing someone burp out of confusion for the first time*
Thanks Ola 🤔👌
Pretty sure it’s cause he inhaled dust off and his body was trying to release the chemicals lol
Too many coffee on an empty stomach. At least that's what happen to me if I skip my lunch.
Just Bought This Amp With A HM300 Pedal For My Ibanez GRG120 (Im Left Handed) Thank You Ola For Showing Me The Path Of Chuggness🤘🏼🎸
Orange Amps are really great. I dont have the exact amp, but I have an Orange Crush 12 watt I recently got. Very versatile! Sounds impressive like damn
I come back to this video all the time, it's fuckin hilarious. I love Olga.
57 seconds was the exact second chugging was achieved, Mr. Englund.
Wow that amp is called orange crush? One of the best sodas on my personal top ten list
I got the 35rt and it has a effects loop... and I love it!!
Same here, it's a really solid amp.
Ramon p
I have one of these. It’s not bad at all for a practice amp. Sounds great with headphones.
It’s amazing how Ola is in one of the heaviest bands on earth and makes some of the most aggressive music known to man yet, he’s actually just a really cool and down to earth guy.
There are much heavier bands than the haunted or feared man. Don't get me wrong they are pretty heavy but there is much heavier out there.
Gordon C
Notice I said one of the heaviest bands on earth.
Z S
Spot on! Rock on!
So you assume guys who play metal are evil bastards?
I friggin love this series
Does it chug? Starts chugging before the timer starts.
I am late to the game with Orange in general. I knew lots of sludgy and doomy bands I like use them, but I got my first one, a Brent Hinds Terror I run through 2x12 Creambacks, not too long ago. Now any time I run into one in real life I notice that they all sound good, no matter which model it is. Even this little "practice" amp sounds fantastic. Good job, Orange. Keep it up!
This sounded much better than expected!!!
Funniest guitarist I’ve ever seen, keep making videos the way you do, made me laugh, THANKS!!
Had that little practice amp for years. Absolutely luv it.
i got a crush 35rt.... and maaaaan it chugs good! and for a 10inch speaker, it sounds really good, and it is loud!!! love it! turn up the volume and try again! read, these amps are designed to act like tube amps. the more you crank it, they get more angry! try! greetings from bavaria!
3:06 is it just a random riff or is it a real song? I'm obsessed with this riff.
Maybe one of his band’s riffs.
Know this is an older video but thanks for doing a review on that particular amp. Just ordered one myself. Keep up the awesome work man!
Ive had this amp for two weeks now and I’ve watched a ton of reviews on this amp before I decided to buy it. Hands down probably one of the best amps on the market in this price range.
"I think the distortion sounds a bit dirty" ... must've forgot the knob said ... "Dirty"
1. Of course it will chug it’s Ola he’s a master of chugging
2. Ola could you possibly try the Blackstar id tvp 30 or 60
I have the 30 version, added a TS OD pedal and I really dig the sound, but I think there might be some better options
Orel Arokidas I have the 60 watt version and I boost it with a modded Tube Screamer (it sounds good but not great) but I wanted to see if he could get a better tone out of it than I could (I’m sure he could). If you have any recommendations I would love to try them to see how they sound.
JP 88 id:s cant chug, metal ht:s can
Of course it can chug, just use the od 2, tvp at 6l6s and gain at 6 or 7. And if u think it needs more gain just boost the amp with a clean booster. There are tons of videos of ppl playing metal and chugging with the id tvp seties. For a solid state amp they r amaizing.
Fredrik Svärd check out the 'Sound Like Dimebag' on the Andertons channel then tell me the TVP can't chug.
I have this amp. Very happy with it
For a solid state it sure sounds like a tube amp.It sounds damn good
My favorite sound from it is cranking the clean channel to 10. Sounds amazing for the price.
By the way, I stumbled across this and now I am a happy subscriber and I can’t wait to see more of your content! Especially the CHUGGIN 🤘🏻😬
4:08 yeah! 🤘
I think this might be my 1st amp, I've been looking for days and I'm fed up, Ola just sealed the deal making this fooker chug in 1 min. I can just snake your settings from this video LOL.
Yooo straight take a hit of that air duster man. Like a solid 2 seconds. It'll blow your mind.
Stoners have a lot of advice for when you wanna get high but have no money for weed or acid.
HE’LL YEHA BÖRTHER
Thanks for the Cab Sim defeat suggestion, Ola. Next time I'm bored at GC I'll give one of these a whirl.
What you really need to chug is an ice cold NUKA COLA QUANTUM!!!!
Great video sir. Great shirt sir.
I have one of these and for the price and the wattage it puts out some great clean and crunch.
Sounds very lovely. It makes me happy, and feel really good. It's like a warm, "fuzzy" hug from Ola.
I think in Ola's hands everything will chug: skateboard, coffee cup, washing machine, peace of shit, etc.
я и не знал, что его русские смотрят
Spends a minute trying to figure out the hieroglyphics, makes it chug in 7 seconds. LOL. I own this amp, perfect for solo practicing or just jamming in the living room.
Please dont dustoff your mouth ...lol 🏴☠️
Maybe there could be a new series named " Will it burp?", where Ola tries different kinds of contained air and finds out how to boost the burping by swallowing air.
Womp Womp Womp Womp Womp
In 2010, I saw Big Elf open for Porcupine Tree. The guitarist was playing through an Orange stack that was cranking out some serious Sabbath-like tones. Like "Sweet Leaf" heavy. Yeah, Orange can do metal.
That's a badass little amp I want one!!
Oh wow. This sounds just like an early 90s teal stripe peavey audition 110 I used to record demo tapes with. Amazing distortion
4:20 Ola "im going to hook up an overdrive to this pedal" wtf
He just plugs the cable into the pedal input and then plugs the other end of the cable into the output
I just bought a orange crush 12 for my Jackson js22 7 and mxr fulbore metal distortion pedal upgrade from a 15watt line 6 spider4
What a weird time to be watching a guitar vid but its ola 😂 2am
@Darren Moar you are so damn right but like it's so late due to the time some diffrence but ola is killer with these chug vids
Watching at 5:20AM and should probably go to bed lmao
Just got this in black, good stuff! The 60 watt is next
For metal i always put the treble knob to zero, Middle and bass to the max. It sounds good that way
For a band setting leave the bass for the 4 stringed nitwit next to you and then add the treble til you stand out
@@DMac12flyers who the hell's using this amp in a band setting?
I have this amp but without the reverb and tuner. It's pretty good. I kinda want to upgrade to the 35rt for the bigger speaker and FX loop.
It does freaking chug for a solid state! I have the crush 35rt, and I’m happy with the gain itself , imagine adding the misha mansoor horizon 🤘🏼😎
I run a Friedman BE-OD in front of it, and an MXR 10 band EQ through the loop, and OMG is it freaking AMAZING!!! I used to use a Fullbore Metal in front, but since getting the Friedman the Fullbore is now on the shelf.
I don't know if it's improvised or an actual song but that chugging at 3:10 kicks ass!
The next episode of Will it chug using Yamaha THR10X sounds interesting ✌️
Randy Scheel does it fit for metal?
It takes some tweaking, but I think it sounds really good for metal.
I have the Yamaha thr, I'm trying to get some awesome Doom tones out of it. But a lot of it just sounds like a wet blanket. Any suggestions
I have that amp and a joyo distortion metal pedal and I sound pretty close to dimebag. Sometimes I’ll use metal zone
Best damn ad for an Orange 20RT, hope they give you some sponsor cash Ola !!
I especially like the 8 foot tall mic stand for the 10" tall amp
I have one of these the 35rt model, it’s awesome clean or dirty... put a Klon type pedal in front and you will be very happy!!!
What did you set the amp settings to, I’ve been chasing this sound but I don’t know anything about tone.
Looks like you need to put an overdrive pedal in front
Luv this guy. I too am a little bewildered about the redundant vol./gain knob
