Though that is true I still believe Yokozuna has that title. I believe triple h has the title of being the first heel to retain as the entering champion.
I've got a soft spot for this Mania. I distinctly remember watching this around a friends house, I was an unashamed HHH mark, my buddy a Rock mark, and another friend a Mick Foley mark (sadly nobody was rooting for Big Show lol). We were all rooting for our boys on the main and needless to say, I left happy. Good times lol
Wrestlemania24444 Nope. They will just prop up Reign's thoroughly embalmed corpse atop a latched springboard and with his right arm extended. As the bell rings to start the match the springboard will be released for Roman's patented superman punch and his opponent takes the 'bump' falling under the collapsing corpse for the clean victory. Roman's music plays and maybe, maybe finally, someone in attendance will cheer for Roman Reigns.
Nope. Still Roman Reigns. Vince, whom by this point will be a head in a jar and still making every creative decision for the company, will not rest until he has gotten Roman Reigns over.
Compare WWE in 1996 to WWE in 2000. Isn't it mindblowing how much WWE changed in only 4 years!? Even the Wrestlemania 12 logo looks so vintage and dated compared to the WM 2000 logo. It seems like WWE was stuck in the 80s until the mid to late 90s
Absolutely. I think a lot of it had to do with the Monday Night Wars and the emergence of ECW. Vince realised that to stay on top, the product had to evolve. He stole the best parts of WCW and ECW, calling it Attitude. WWF took WCW talentsand made them better (Foley, Triple H, Austin, Jericho, Benoit to name but a few). Whilst a short term gain Nash, Hogan and other WWF captures ruined WCW.
X-Pac and Jericho had the best match at Unforgiven 1999. They had chemistry. I wasn't even mad that it ended in a DQ. It was by far the best match of the night. X-Pac and Shane at Mania XV was one of the best of the night, and X-Pac/HHH Backlash 1999 was arguably the best of the night. X-Pac was solid 1998-2000.
Am I the only one who enjoyed Wrestlemania 2000 despite it faults (mainly too many multi wrestler matches and Rock not winning the title match when he should have because HHH)??
yea i always thought that rock should've won a mania clean, retained the title at backlash, and then lost in the iron man match at judgement day. That always made more sense to me than rock losing at mania, he's never had his "wrestlemania moment"
Beating Cena in the Main Event of Wrestlemania 28 in his hometown of Miami was a pretty good "Wrestlemania Moment" in my opinion. I was there for it and the crowd went ballistic for The Rock
I know it wasn't the best but I have a real soft spot for this Mania only because I remember me and a group of friends had an absolute awesome time watching it together live! Brings back some really nice memories whenever I rewatch it.
Lol this just made me think of how WWE branded Tazz for a bit. Chasing the Hardcore champion just because he was an ECW alumni, when in fact, he was one of ECWs more technical less hardcore gimmick based wrestlers.
Remember when The Rock was the host of SNL on 2000 and HHH, Big Show, and Mick Foley made a appearance with The Rock. So they broke kayfabe within 15 days till Wrestlemania.
One thing you missed: At this event, Triple H became the first heel to enter Mania with the WWF title and leave with it. Prior to WrestleMania 2000, the title either changed hands or the good guy won.
The main event of this Mania did have a lot going on with the booking, but it was still entertaining to watch. Would have loved to see Jericho, but you can't go wrong with Foley being involved. The drama was great in the main event. The reason why this Mania stands out though is cause of the TLC classic with Edge&Christian, Hardy Boyz, and the Dudley Boyz. That match changed and set a new standard in tag team wrestling. That match never gets old. Still incredible to watch 17 years later.
I was at this WrestleMania and something wwe doesn’t mention is how fans were so disappointed after this they were chanting we want our money back. I saw garbage being thrown everywhere even when I left the duck pond arena. Social Media wasn’t around back then. Imagine what would’ve happened if social media was around in 2000
Forgot the fact that Triple H winning marks the first time someone went into the main event Heel and win. Stone Cold turned heel in WrestleMania 17, but 2000 established that a heel could defend in the main event.
Another fact about this wrestlenania, taker first appeared as the american badass, well backstage signing autographs and rollin his eyes lookin weird with his ginger hair😂 i havnt seen anyone mention this but its on the vhs tape
I agree. I know x7 is viewed as the peak of the attitude era but this one was right in the middle. I think they did a great job considering SCSA and the undertaker were both out.
Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Edge, Christian, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Bubba Ray and D'Von. Yes, one of the best midcard and tag team divisions of all-time. You also had Eddie Guerrero, Kane and Big Show in the mix.
It was the first Wrestlemania where the final match was won by a heel. 1-15 all had face victories in their final matches (final match being the last match of the night, not necessarily the Heavyweight Title match). It also marks the first Wrestlemania where the Heavyweight Title was in the possession of a heel wrestler at the end of the night.
Why does everyone shit on this ppv? it had an amazing triple threat match for the IC and European championship and the triangle ladder match was also really good.
HHH was also to be the first heel to finish the show with the championship. and leave the building, and show up the next day still the champ. and....... Sorry Yokozuna.
4:49 what's up with the audio there? Guess that sound file got corruted or lost and they had to drag adam back into the recording booth for that one line.
This is a Mania that I didn't enjoy much while I was watching it live. I don't know why, but it's aged much better for me over the years. I can at least have fun watching it back nowadays.
This was a weird mania but it did have some up points… The Hardcore battle royal was fun to watch. The ladder match was ace. #11 Triple H became the first heel to retain the WWF title at Wrestlemania, and the first heel to actually win the main event of Wrestlemania for that matter!
The Triple Threat TLC tag match was the best match of Wrestlemania that year. And then again was the best match a few PPV's later. The Hardy's, Edge and Christian and Dudley Boyz stole the show when all 3 were in the ring.
Another fact is that Triple H was the first ever heel wrestler to enter and then leave Wrestlemania with the WWE title.
Though that is true I still believe Yokozuna has that title. I believe triple h has the title of being the first heel to retain as the entering champion.
@@dmitriymiretskiy717Yokozuna being heel????? Lol
@@Rational_upper_cut i mean against bret hart he was. But against hogan...well
@@dmitriymiretskiy717 nah I was just messing I totally agree dude! That era was something else imo lol love it either way🔥
@@Rational_upper_cut 1994 was definitely a good year for wrestling
Everyone rags on this Mania, but the two falls triple threat between Jericho, Angle and Benoit was one of the best matches I've seen. Period.
Yes and sadly it is forgotten now...
I absolutely love that match.
Garibaldi II ya I love the match! As a huge Chris Jericho I am 😁
Facts
Ben who?
I've got a soft spot for this Mania. Respect ✊ I miss those days, the late 90s were so great to be a kid.
#11: Wrestlemania 2000 will be in the year 4001.
main event of wrestlemania 2000- Roman reigns wins the WWE championship
Zack Sabre Jr. So they put his brain in an artificial body or something?
Wrestlemania24444 Nope. They will just prop up Reign's thoroughly embalmed corpse atop a latched springboard and with his right arm extended. As the bell rings to start the match the springboard will be released for Roman's patented superman punch and his opponent takes the 'bump' falling under the collapsing corpse for the clean victory. Roman's music plays and maybe, maybe finally, someone in attendance will cheer for Roman Reigns.
That would be Ryan Reigns the 7th grandson of Roman Reigns
Nope. Still Roman Reigns. Vince, whom by this point will be a head in a jar and still making every creative decision for the company, will not rest until he has gotten Roman Reigns over.
This was the first Wrestlemania that a heel walked out with the WWE Title
Compare WWE in 1996 to WWE in 2000. Isn't it mindblowing how much WWE changed in only 4 years!? Even the Wrestlemania 12 logo looks so vintage and dated compared to the WM 2000 logo. It seems like WWE was stuck in the 80s until the mid to late 90s

Mark M. I think it's because the world changed from 1900s to 2000s. At that time it must be an awesome feeling but I was so young
Internet Bro, Internet..
2000 was a great year for WWE.
Lord of Darkness WWF*
Fact: WrestleMania 16 is the only WrestleMania people don't refer to by it's actual number but instead refer to it as "WrestleMania 2000".
Lord of Darkness yup
El Hajj Malik El. X-Seven??

so who else clicked on this video thinking it was about the N64 video game?

Same here, hahahhaha.
Big Daddy V should have won the ECW title during that time period. It was the least they could do for someone so loyal to the company. RIP Viscera
ECW was its own independent promotion in 2000, I think you mean the WWF Hardcore Title.
marie 90 he's talking about 2007/2008 was Viscera was Big Daddy V
marie 90 He means the time when WWE launched their own "ECW"
The Godfather also only held the IC title for a few days and he was in the WWF/E longer than Big V
I really liked the hardcore battle royal though
Damn California Love for Wrestlemania 2000 would’ve been 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
the only thing good that came out of W2000 is the N64 game
That game came out half a year before the PPV though
It wasnt to terrible
I can beat anyone in that game
Yes sir !!! Your damn right the best game I ever played period, it still has replay value to this day
Am I the only one who enjoyed Wrestlemania 2000 despite it faults (mainly too many multi wrestler matches and Rock not winning the title match when he should have because HHH)??
Didn't Triple H put Rock over a month later in a one on one match? Obviously he had no problem putting Rock over.
Yeah but Rock should have won at Mania because was red hot at that point. He was the biggest star in the company.
yea i always thought that rock should've won a mania clean, retained the title at backlash, and then lost in the iron man match at judgement day.
Rock beat austin at wrestlemaina 19 that was his moment
I like WM 2000. The 2 fall triple threat was a great match, so was the triangle ladder match, the hardcore title match was fun.
Vince wanted Tupac's song ? LMAO.
TheChronicDocumentary DreGame it would of fit the PPV perfectly since it took place place in Anaheim
I'm surprised 😂😂😂 Vince look like a Rockabilly type guy...
It didn't help when he called to ask to use the song he started the conversation with "What up my N****"
I know it wasn't the best but I have a real soft spot for this Mania only because I remember me and a group of friends had an absolute awesome time watching it together live! Brings back some really nice memories whenever I rewatch it.
I loved the Angle-Benoit-Jericho Euro-continental title match. Such awesome wrestling back then!
Lol this just made me think of how WWE branded Tazz for a bit. Chasing the Hardcore champion just because he was an ECW alumni, when in fact, he was one of ECWs more technical less hardcore gimmick based wrestlers.
Wrestlemania 2000 was DEFINITELY my favorite one. X17 is a close second.
Remember when The Rock was the host of SNL on 2000 and HHH, Big Show, and Mick Foley made a appearance with The Rock. So they broke kayfabe within 15 days till Wrestlemania.
Exactly!!
Colin Sheehan yes and no about braking kayfabe. Triple H wish the Rock good luck but he told him after the show he was gonna beat his ass" lol
The rock was everywhere back then. Arguably the most famous athlete of the time period
I lived in Anaheim during the event and we got to watch it for free. The Tag Team TLC match was the best up to the point.
Except it wasn’t called that
This WrestleMania made for a great game though. Loved playing it on my N64.
One thing you missed: At this event, Triple H became the first heel to enter Mania with the WWF title and leave with it. Prior to WrestleMania 2000, the title either changed hands or the good guy won.
Am I the only one who thought this was about the N64 game
Back in the day when, in society, it was cool to add “2000” to everything to make something sound cool and modern.
Still incredible to watch 17 years later.
some of the chair shots in that match were fuckin insane
it was a Triangle Tag Ladder Match not TLC (it was the precursor to it)
Back when chair shots to the head was common place.
That Summer at Summer Slam was TLC I.
Fuck yeah
I was at this WrestleMania and something wwe doesn’t mention is how fans were so disappointed after this they were chanting we want our money back. I saw garbage being thrown everywhere even when I left the duck pond arena. Social Media wasn’t around back then. Imagine what would’ve happened if social media was around in 2000
it's crazy that there were 1,999 Wrestlemanias up until this point
Forgot the fact that Triple H winning marks the first time someone went into the main event Heel and win. Stone Cold turned heel in WrestleMania 17, but 2000 established that a heel could defend in the main event.
"Poor smelly baseball man" is forever how I'm going to refer to Pete Rose
How could anyone forget that Ice-T performed “Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy” for The Godfather in the first match
Fact 11 - Had one of the best wrestling games ever named after it!
Great video. i enjoy these 10 facts they are amazing. Keep up the good work. :D
I thought it was stupid when they called it WM 2000 when it was clearly WM 16. Just because it was the year 2000 and they were just trying to be cool.
SPac316 there's gonna be some confusion when the real wrestlemania 2000 comes along
Totally Agree!!
The Goat Triggered
They will just call it Wrestlemania 2000 2: End of the Line
At least they didn't call it "Wrestlemania 2000: Once in a Lifetime"....
I love it because it was the first WM I ever watched. The ladder match and the Triple Threat with Jericho & Beniot & Angle where great
This was actually one of my favourite Wrestlemanias.
@whatculturewwe, I love this new series that you guys are doing it's awesome.
Triple H at WM 2000 was the first heel to go over in WM history. Previous 15 years, all faces won.
A fact more fascinating than any of the ones you listed, Triple H was the first heel to leave wrestlemania as the WWF champion.
Last time I was this early Roman was actually a good wrestler.
In other words. I was never this early.
Another fact about this wrestlenania, taker first appeared as the american badass, well backstage signing autographs and rollin his eyes lookin weird with his ginger hair😂 i havnt seen anyone mention this but its on the vhs tape

It was the first Wrestlemania where the final match was won by a heel. 1-15 all had face victories in their final matches (final match being the last match of the night, not necessarily the Heavyweight Title match).

The idea of no traditional one on one matches through the entirety of a Wrestlemania nowadays is insanity.
HHH was also to be the first heel to finish the show with the championship. and leave the building, and show up the next day still the champ. and....... Sorry Yokozuna.
kevin nash ?
Nash wasn't a heel. He was a babyface at 11.
besides it wasn't the main event
This is a proper interesting series please do more for different ppv's
