and fyi, michaels was dropping the title to Stone cold. got a huge ovation at the end of the night after cameras went off air since his back was a wreck
Nobody ever mentions the weird fact that Stephanie and Linda McMahon sat in the actual audience for a portion of the show because neither were faces fan knew yet. They can be seen in the crowd in average fan seating during the Pete Rose promo.
It's all just mostly opinion but I think the Attitude era started when Bret Hart pushed down Vince McMahon on March 17 1997 during RAW after losing a cage match to Sid Vicious. By the way, also love these 10 Fascinating Facts about the Wrestlemanias. Keep them coming.
I always thought the Attitude Era started at SummerSlam 1996, when HBK hit Undertaker with the chair, and Bret Hart won the title, leading to a chain of events that skyrocketed WWF/E into its era.
You also missed out that it was first time we got to see Kane and the undertaker fight and where Undertaker's tombstone failed twice to beat Kane and took a third one to beat him, Kane still says it's his most favourite match in his career. In 2010 he said getting to work with The Undertaker right off the bat was a tremendous opportunity. It was an opportunity to be a career-maker, and fortunately he was able to take advantage of that. Also we didn't even realise at the time that Kane almost became the first man to beat Taker and had he done so, the streak (which we didn't know was there at the time) would've ended under our noses and Kane would've been the one in 6-1. We remember how much of a threat Kane was to the streak despite the fact that unknowingly Diesel was the first but many of us all know that Kane became the official first threat to it and to me (in my opinion) Undertaker's WM streak was begin to show signs of showing but it was still not noticeable to the fans. Just imagine what career hight it would've been had Kane won the match, who knows it could've made him into a super big red machine and could've dominated the rest of 1998 and even held the WWF title belt longer.
vrdragon12 I Love the Winged Eagle Belt too but my favorite design debut the next night on RAW I Love the Big Eagle Attitude belt especially with the blue strap those were real championship belts.
Great that Owen gave props to Luna for not only putting over Sable but to "fear" her when she was obviously 1000x better, it sucks Luna didn't get to actually wrestle with the caliber of women we have today. RIP Luna & Owen
Undertaker was the true Certified G throughout his career, making it clear to Michaels that he has to his ego go and do the favours for the future, is a fine example.
Forgot to mention how Michael’s was in Excruciating back pain during this whole match. That’s honestly the most important fact about this wrestlemania. Owen Hart’s injury was nothing compared to his
I remember watching this on PPV, and the moment the Rock gave that promo, my buddy and I knew right then and there The Rock was destined for greatness. So glad it payed off. This was also the last WM I truly loved from top to bottom.
Slight mistake: You said Steve Austin was the last person to win the winged-eagle belt and that Randy Savage was the first person to win it. Technically, Andre the Giant was the first person to win as Hogan lost that belt to Andre on February 5, 1988, at the Main Event.
I've heard the Shawn Michaels story in these videos many times by now and every time they manage to make me smile. Whoever makes the lines for this is really talented.
5:36 - "Austin was the last man to win it, a shade over ten years after Macho Man Randy Savage became the first man to capture it at WrestleMania IV." Umm…. I don't wanna be "that" guy, but I'm gonna HERE because Savage was actually the SECOND guy to "capture" that belt; not the first. Andre the Giant was the first to capture it after "pinning" Hulk Hogan on February 5, 1988. Hogan did his backstage interview with his 1986 belt, but on his way to the ring, he was wearing the Winged Eagle belt. Andre captured it that same night. Macho Man would go on to win it on March 27, 1988.
11. Roman reigns invented the concept of victory, he also invented the spear. And is the only person to ever win a royal rumble ever and him and the rock are the broiest of bros
SENT WWE NEWS I'm not sure if Goldberg invented the spear but several people were doing it long before Roman...like Edge. Roman is alright but he didn't invent anything dear 😂!
ThePerfectTen Sorry you haven't heard. But Jack was found dead roughly 10 hours ago inside that closet by Andrew Soucek. Andrew was looking for Simon Miller's favorite empty glass bottle, which he kept on his desk as a good luck charm. The closet was littered with feces and Jack's piss, and Adam Pacitti is in jail on charges of False Imprisonment and negligent homicide. It is rumored that Blampied is on the run fearing murder conspiracy charges, which is why this video was posted today. This has become a large scale cover up, which is under current investigation.
Of you look it up here on youtube... Steve Austin told Jim Ross he HAS in his possession the winged eagle belt he won from HBK at WM14 along with the original Smoking Skull belt and the Intercontinental title he won from Owen Hart after the piledriver at Summerslam 97
Being in Maine I remember this one. The Friday before, our local NBC station talked about this Mania on their morning show. The host talked about how big it was looking to be and about Mike Tyson before saying something about it "Being a big embarrassment for the City of Boston and New England" Weird thing is, when Owen Hart died the next year, he devoted pretty much the entire news show to him. Also worth mentioning was the public work out they did earlier in the week. It was a trainwreck. I guess Shawn was in a bad mood and one of the fans either touched him or Shawn got hit by something, and he just stormed off. Someone talked him into coming back and they filmed some stuff but Shawn wasn't having any of it that day.
From memory (and not checking Wikipedia), the Winged Eagle belt was worn by (in order) between 1988 and 1998: Savage, Hogan, Warrior, Slaughter, Hogan, Undertaker, Hogan, Flair, Savage, Flair, Hart, Yokozuna, Hogan, Yokozuna, Hart, Backland, Diesel, Hart, Michaels, Sid, Michaels, Hart, Sid, Undertaker, Hart and finally, Michaels. That's 26 title reigns in 10 years spread between 12 wrestlers. The longest reign was the first one by Macho Man who held the belt for 1 year and 5 days between Wrestlemania's 4 and 5. The shortest reign was Yokozuna's first which lasted less than 5 minutes when he won the belt from Bret Hart at WM9 and lost it in an impromptu challenge to Hulk Hogan less than 5 minutes later.
Love the series. Takes me back down memory lane. I was a teenager during WM 10 which was the first I ever watched and this series is making me remember "the good ol' days" lol.
Never stop this series, and maybe do Royal Rumble next, followed by SummerSlam and Survivor Series...then others: KOTR, MITB, EC, HIAC, TLC! Capitol Punishment (jk). Maybe also some WCW PPVS...Starrcade, War Games, Superbrawl, Lethal Lottery, Halloween Havoc. You can Do iiiiiit!
For what it's worth this was one, if not my all time favorite 'Mania. It summed up the 90's perfectly as it shifted into the new WWF era. The main event was outstanding as Stone Cold reached the top of the mountain, a seed planted one year earlier in his match with Hart.
sting rey hurts? the guy was a fucking scumbag, you feel sympathy for shawn michaels? lol you are a bonafide asshole jesus christ get your head checked, feel bad for a handful of other wrestlers but you feel bad for hbk lol
Call me old-fashioned, but that live performance of Are You Ready? is one of my favorites as far as WrestleMania goes. My only complaint is that I wished Howard Finkel had waited until Shawn got to the ring to introduce the champ since you could barely hear him over the DX Band and Chris Warren's screeching.
There was a time when Ken Shamrock had the Rock's number. 1998 was a pivotal year for the Great One as later in the year he would win his first world title which meant he had the last laugh. Loving these posts. Keep up the good work guys!
IMO . GREATEST WRESTLEMANIA EVER. ALL MATCHES WERE ON POINT. I MEAN THE UNDERTAKER AND KANES FIRST MATCH..PETE ROSE WAS TOMBSTONED AND THAT WASNT EVEN THE MAIN EVENT. THE DX LIVE BAND INTRO. MIKE TYSON AS REF ..THIS WAS THE PEAK OF THE ATTITUDE ERA.
Here's how I'd book Reigns vs Taker: Reigns is beating the Undertaker mercilessly. Superman punches and spears. But rather than pinning him he lets him get up, Undertaker motions to "come on", Reigns keeps it going just trying to absolutely bury the Undertaker and remind him that "its his yard now". Imagine the heel heat. Rinse and repeat 4 times, as soon as he hits the 4th spear the lights go out. Masked Kane appears in the ring, tombstones Reigns and helps Undertaker grab the victory. Kane takes his mask off and its Braun Strowman, and there a second staredown of respect between Taker and Strowman but this time it's the Undertaker who backs down and walks off... into the sunset. Reigns gets his moment AND turns heel, Undertaker goes out by passing the torch to TWO guys WITHOUT losing at Mania, and a face Strowman vs heel Reigns feud is set up.
naah.he is gonna win clean then we are gonna hear michael cole hyping that up as if everyone was happy for roman. This wrestlemania is gonna be a sad one just like wm30
Fırat Gürkök I expect you to be right I was just expressing how I would do it and actually come out ahead in a match that should have never been booked
ı know. And ı also think you are brilliant just to come up with that idea but wwe doesnt know how to think nowadays.I have lost my faith in undertaker matches after wm31.Sting and taker were there but they fed sting for trips...

The Austin 3:16 t-shirt at the end of Shawn's championship reign was the perfect comeuppance for Shawn as his participation in screwing Bret hart began title reign
I was wondering if Shawn's wincing like his back was hurt was real or not. Seemed too real to be acting and this video kinda clears that issue up. Keep the content coming!
I've always thought the moment that changed the gears of the Monday Night War was when Austin gave Vince the Stunner in MSG, but I do agree that this WrestleMania is the unofficial birthday of the Attitude Era.
Stone Cold is elevated to Shawn Michaels status and Shawn Michaels retires for 4 years do to a severe back injury. That's what I'll always remember about WM XIV
5:40 Savage was not the first man to win The Winged Eagle title it was won by Andre the night it was introduced on Friday Night Feburary 5th 1988, when Hogan came to the Ring wearing it marking Hulk Hogan being the first man to hold The Winged Eagle belt
Fact: "Smell What I am Cooking" wasn't invented by The Rock, The Rock said so himself in his Book that he got that from other Football players down in Miami from the Miami Hurricane players. Also, The Eyebrow, the name "The Rock", speaking in the 3rd person wasn't The Rock's ideas.
Owen Hart was one true professional. Got even more respect for him now after watching this.
Mike cushinberry Only time Owen would clown around was during house shows.
It's rare for anyone to shit on him with a legit complaint.
@Niranjan Rajesh it was an accident and literally his only one. The Harts were known for being very careful.
I'm not a nugget ima Nye Heart

@@robnewcomb1926 if anybody can smell what The Rock is cooking it's me look at the size of my damn nose 😂

yea it did i was there. and at the Cambridge side galleria when stone cold threw i forget in the boston harbor

It's like saying when John Cena debuted and trash-talked Kurt Angle about Ruthless Aggression, Ruthless Aggression Era started.
I second that. I've learnt a hell of a lot about Wrestlemanias that were before my time. Great video series.
The official start to the the attitude era is the Montreal Screw job

Kanefan701 i fucking love that match.
Kanefan701 i guess he didn't forgot.. he skipped intentionally.. it's whatculture mannn
Shawn Michaels entrance with the DX band was fucking awesome.
Adam you were right about the Winged Eagle Belt. That was and always will be my favorite championship belt of all time. no other belt comes close
vrdragon12 I prefered Austin's version
vrdragon12 I Love the Winged Eagle Belt too but my favorite design debut the next night on RAW I Love the Big Eagle Attitude belt especially with the blue strap those were real championship belts.
same
Austin's Smoking Skull and Rock's Brahma Bull belts are the best custom belts but the best official belt imo is the Undisputed Championship belt.
but Adam was completely wrong about the spinner belt. ew

The winged eagle championship first appeared on the main event early February 1988 by Hogan.
William Paffrath also Andre was announced as the new WWF champion so really Macho Man was the third person to hold that belt...
Glad you pointed this out! I was about too lol
I GOTTA SAY.., I'M LOVING THIS! I LOOK FOWARD TO THESE FACTS EVERYDAY NOW LOL
I'm seriously loving this video series- I look forward to a new one each day.
Your life must be boring.
Just giving these guys some positive feedback- no need to be a dick.

Last time I was this early Zack Ryder was IC champ
So, almost a year?

Syed Saad no it feels like almost a year
Last time I was this early, Zack Ryder was US champ...

Look forward to these daily. Thanks fellas.

I remember how cool wrestling was after this mania
Really enjoy these Wrestlemania videos man
Keep up the good work
As stated on a previous video, 'taker was about to impregnate HBK with a pain baby' LMFAO
This is a great video series
The first Wrestlemania I ever watched! I still have the VHS lol.
It was the first Mania where the traditional WrestleMania logo wasn’t displayed on the above ring banners or ring aprons/skirts
Surprised this wasn't mentioned, but this was also the first WM where no one who featured in the original WM was on the card.
I didn't know about the barrack Obama thing. I love him even more now.
blompied is the man. we need these facts for the other big 4 PPVs

I was just thinking bout this and it just uploaded niceeeeee good shit
And of course no mention of kane tombstoneing pete rose before his match against undertaker
The best Wrestlemania ever! Every match was great! This was my childhood.
It hurts to watch the hbk/Austin match. You can see the pain and agony Michaels is in. And he still pulled off a great match.

That was my first Wrestlemania ppv, what a classic.
Love the wrestlemania facts series Adam, thanks
I'm really enjoying these lists!! Thanks Guys!!
I love these vids. Thank you.
Here's how I'd book Reigns vs Taker:
Reigns is beating the Undertaker mercilessly. Reigns gets his moment AND turns heel, Undertaker goes out by passing the torch to TWO guys WITHOUT losing at Mania, and a face Strowman vs heel Reigns feud is set up.
Jonathan McCormick Vince: Sounds great. How can I butcher that?

the winged eagle title is probably the best title design WWE ever had
I'm loving these 10 fact about ... videos!
That story is actually true about Taker taping his fists and all. Mark Calaway confirmed it on his second appearance on Broken Skull Sessions :)
Hogan was the first to hold the winged eagle belt. Watch February 5, 1988 against Andre the Giant. Hogan was champion for 4 years until that night.
Foley wanted a death match ? the fuck ?
TheChronicDocumentary DreGame Mick had huge balls back in the day.
I believe every men's balls shrink with age
they weren't *actually* going to kill each other
+BootyDaddy That's debatable
TheChronicDocumentary DreGame not just one but a best of seven, but this would have been nothing knew to either of them, they had done lots of them, some as main events in Japan and other company's.
If Justin's "Fascinating Facts about Wrestlemania" articles were well-cooked steaks, Adam's videos would be the perfect blend of seasoning on those steaks; they just make a great thing even better. Keep it up, guys!
I've always thought everyone agreed that the Attitude Era began at WM XIV.
WM14 tripled the pay per view buy rate and it was crazy.
+WhatCultureWWE Can these be put in its own playlist? I Uber a lot, so I'd love to see these in order.
Ive been waiting for this one
Shawn Michaels is the greatest ever. He was electric in his prime
I was there. 3rd row up. tickets were 100 bucks then. awesome show
Who is Ken? I think you meant Kevin like you said in the WrestleMania 13 vídeo.
Owen was NOT a nugget.
Wow I didn't think you guys would upload on the weekend...Doesn't matter I'm loving it maggle!! Keep em coming lads!
these videos r awesome
The Austin 3:16 t-shirt at the end of Shawn's championship reign was the perfect comeuppance for Shawn as his participation in screwing Bret hart began title reign
Great video ! WrestleMania 14 was trash to me, but I enjoyed several moments from this show.
Owen kicked my leg right out of my leg
Let's all be blessed Adam has to do 32 of these videos in total, thank you God
They probably are going to do a 10 Fascinating WWE Facts About WrestleMania 33 or 34 on april fools.
I'm calling it
I was wondering if Shawn's wincing like his back was hurt was real or not. Seemed too real to be acting and this video kinda clears that issue up. Keep the content coming!
Ha! I'm playing bass in those pics as part of the DX Band -- what a blast!!
I now have a very uncomfortable image of Blampied fornicating with Cena's spinner belt. Excuse me while I pour bleach into my eyes
YOU PUSH YOUR FINGERS INTO YOUR EYES!
I've always thought the moment that changed the gears of the Monday Night War was when Austin gave Vince the Stunner in MSG, but I do agree that this WrestleMania is the unofficial birthday of the Attitude Era.
Behind x-seven this was the 2nd best WM ever
Stone Cold is elevated to Shawn Michaels status and Shawn Michaels retires for 4 years do to a severe back injury. That's what I'll always remember about WM XIV
austin was the reason why this mania was really reallly good
wish they wouldn't have already posted these on the website. takes the fun out of it for me having already read it
That ankle injury wouldn't be the last injury Owen Hart ever had
awwww really? What happened?
+saskatoonguy Goldberg happened. Craaaaaaaazy son of a bitch kicked the man's jaw down his throat and cost him his career. What a shame ;(

Poor Luna, making a pile of shit look like a bag of gold and getting nothing for it.
three more to go for wrestlemania X-seven
The Funk ranch is actually in Canyon TX. I passed it daily going to Amarillo. it's a very beautiful home.
5:40 Savage was not the first man to win The Winged Eagle title it was won by Andre the night it was introduced on Friday Night Feburary 5th 1988, when Hogan came to the Ring wearing it marking Hulk Hogan being the first man to hold The Winged Eagle belt
