    I really don't understand why you wanted to get so many SBAs slabbed. And were you pulling these coins out of mint sets? I would never send in a SBA if I didn't pull it directly out of mint sets. Not sure how you would be getting AU grades if you are.

    • @rockysramblings

      Some of them were mint sets, others just random pulls that I mistakenly thought were good. I’m me of those SBA’s Only got a good grade because the back was so nice. The face was garbage. I got some nice uncirculated Susan B's also.... I have a whopping dollar invested in each one. Theres no way I would pay to have any of them graded. I won't even pay for capsules to put them in! I have a few that were lucky enough to even make it into a coin envelope! 😊 But hey... whatever interests you man. I can dig it. Sometimes I send coins to get graded that I probably shouldn't just because I really like the coin. For example, I just sent a submission to PCGS with some semi rare coins but I threw a super nice 1943-D mercury dime with color in there that has really nice eye appeal. I know theres a good chance it will not be worth it... It will have to get 65 full bands for me to even break even after the coin cost and grading fees. But hey... I like it, I want it in a holder, and who knows..... it might grade better than 65fb!

    • @rockysramblings
      @rockysramblings  Год назад

      The SBA were a mistake. My guesstimate on the grades were way off. I don’t even like SBA’s lol. I just thought they were worth something. But I know what you mean on sending in coins that you just like. I do the same thing. But I’ve strayed away from PCGS. Just too expensive and I’ve also had many issues with them. So I’ve moved over to ANACS and I’m very happy so far.

      @Rocky’s Ramblings you're just wasting money if you're paying for a FS/FB/FBL designation. It's automatically added if applicable like the color description for coppers.

    • @everettwhite9874
      @everettwhite9874 Год назад

      I didn’t know that about those types of attributions. So, PCGS will indicate those attributes if they’re on the coin and there’s no need to pay higher insurance fees. Am I right on that? I haven’t ever submitted coins myself because I want to submit coins that I’m super confident will get the grade I’m expecting or close to it.
      There are only a few coins that I’d consider grading “just because” and they are the reverse proof nickel 2020🤔, Colorized Purple Heart and a 1925 Peace dollar.
      That was a bunch of grading fees but I understand that he’s creating a registry set with his own submission. That’s definitely “Buying Your Education” when don’t get the grades you expect. However, I Rocky you get a solid 👍🏽 for having the guts and commitment for submitting all of those at once.
      Best of Luck next time. 🫡

      @@Indigone_Demon That being the case they’ve intentionally screwing him. They I’m sure get some idea of one’s coin collecting experience partially based on the info on submission forms, ie do you know what your doing when you submit the coin in the first place. Crazy. This makes me paused for another 6-12 months on my submission, if ever. You buy coins already graded and be content with that. But eventually I’ve got to submit my own if for no other reason than to Buy My Education as they say around here. 🤔

    • @Indigone_Demon
      @Indigone_Demon Год назад

      @Everett White A variety attribution that doesn't result in an attributed variety costs half ($9 vs. $18) since the coins are still being handled by the variety dept. The onus is on the submitter to determine: a) is there even an attributable variety for the coin's date/mint & b) the coin being submitted is the variety. PCGS is still going to handle the coins additionally in the variety dept so they're not exactly ripping you off if you submit all non-varieties as varieties.
      Edit: FS, FB, FBL, RD, RB, BN, PL, DMPL, CAM, & DCAM are all no cost grade modifiers.

    I wonder if you're seeing a reflection in the proofs that are making you think it's a double die. With the doubled dies you should be seeing splits in the seraphs, perhaps its machine doubling you are seeing. Once you see a double die you'll never miss one again, at least for me. I hunt relentlessly for DDOs and DDRs and have found several like 1909 wheat cent and 1936 wheat, 1934 D wheat, a few modern quarters from 60s and early 70s and tons with some half dollars, even high mint state 64 kennedys, found the QDO and all I need to send in to be verified and attributed, some day

    • @rockysramblings
      @rockysramblings  Год назад +1

      I’ve seen DD in Morgans. But tbh on some coins there is something going on. Sometimes I think it’s a reflection or something with the strike. I’m not sure why to call it. And to be completely honest I think PCGS is dropping the ball in the last couple months. I’m gonna do a video on some of their mistakes in these last orders. Huge mistakes. Like calling a quarter a nickel.

      Well I thought I was sending in things well worth the grading fees. Problem is a lot of the coins I thought were (for example) a 67 would come back a 66. So a 67 is say $500 but a 66 is $50 lol. The jump in price between grades is so drastic. And of course…. I don’t ever get the grade I’m shooting for.

      @rockysramblings yea they say whatever the grade, expect 1 lower of a grade as a safety net.That way if you are a grade low you want have to eat the fees.Not trying to be harsh because we all collect different .Atleast it makes for good content and a tool for learning for us all

      @@gregorymccoy2842 yeah I’m learning but the temptation to know you got the grade or not is too high for me haha. I am trying to just get better at figuring the grade. Problem with grading is it’s so subjective. I’m switching over to ANACS because PCGS has been making dumb mistakes (I have a video about it) we will see how the grading goes there. The price is a lot better too. So if I’m off it won’t hurt so much. 😅

  • @ZombieSC
    @ZombieSC Год назад

    I don't think you should be trying to chase your registry through "finds". Chase the coin first. AKA, purchase the coin you need already slabbed in the grade you want. By the time you take into account grading fees and missed variety attributions, you are better off putting that towards the already slabbed coin. Not saying PCGS is the go-all-get-all service out there, especially these days. They just don't have seasoned coin graders there anymore. As Dirty Harry says: "Do I feel lucky, well, do you punk"?

    I think pcgs has got some assholes working there , on some of your Pennie’s you could not get any more perfect. I would really like to know what are things that didn’t get you that 69 to 70 grade. In my opinion I know just like assholes, I think if you don’t believe it yourself that why they give you the grade you ask for, even if it is a 70 you put 67 that what they give you. I can’t remember seeing anyone on any you tube channel giving us what they thought it was to ever be hirer always lower. If someone could point one out that would be great, please and Ty. Always remember it someone’s opinion and everyone has a bad day. Plus in the grand scheme of things anyone ever looked to see who parent co is and if they are beholden by black rock vanguard or state street.The whole system is rigged . They control how many get approved at a certain level. To many of certain coins brings the value down on the others.

      Funny you should mention Black Rock. I was recently told that black rock has bought collectors universe. Or a large portion anyway. Collectors Universe is the parent company of PCGS. This was told to me not by some “right wing conspiracy theorist”. I was told this by an Austrian coin dealer that holds massive auctions. A reputable guy. He sends thousands of coins to PCGS.
