    Keep that 1881-S in the soapbox

    GSA Carson cities are worth more in their original plastic holders. Should have opted to keep them inside of the holder followed by PCGS's holder holding the holder. Nobody really cares if it's in a normal pcgs slab with the GSA logo slapped on it.

      The original holder was cracked and I didn’t know this at the time. Everyone has let me know since the last one I did a video on haha But really the price doesn’t seem to be all that much better anyway. I’m kinda surprised by that

      @@rockysramblings in this video, you said you use PCGS and ANACS. Why do you not use NGC? I have alot of coins I want to get graded and sell. ANACS said they do not grade coins of value like mine. I already have had an issue with PCGS on my first submission. About to go with NGC. What's the deal?

    • @rockysramblings
      @rockysramblings  8 месяцев назад +3

      @@nickfrost9771 I just haven’t used them yet. I started off with PCGS and they disappointed me greatly. ANACS I’m very happy with but for resale value, they catch a lower price. I do not sell my coins so I don’t mind using ANACS. If I want something in my registry or if it’s more valuable I will crossover to PCGS. As of now I have heard good and bad about NGC, but mostly good.

      @@rockysramblings I recently became a member of PCGS. I sent in a few submissions. One has already been completed. I sent them a well documented 1955DDO RB which should have been a 64-65. I have pictures and stills under an electron microscope. Sent it in for restoration hoping to clean it up to get a 66RB, or even in the red category. Got the coin back as a genuine AU. They said the coin has been cleaned. This coin has been in the family for a while. We never cleaned it. Now, the coin is a darker brown color. I documented everything and forwarded it to them asking to escalate the situation to a higher supervisor for review. They ruined a potentionally $30k coin in their restoration department. Have you ever had an issue such as this with them? If so, how to resolve?

      @@nickfrost9771 was the 55 ddo in a slab before if not you have no leg to stand on and if it was in a holder that was 64 rb then you have to request a minimum grade which you will except and that grade can not be higher then other slab says so that tells me you must have sent in a 55 ddo which you thought would come back a 65 or 66 and restoration will not bring the coin back from rb to red or brown to rb and matter fact it’s a known thing in coins not to restore cooper cents at all because that is what will happen it will go brown and if they had a coin in slab with a grade and then it becomes genuine and you told them to restore it I don’t think they are liable and from what I can tell if said coin was raw and you ask them to restore and grade by all means they did what you ask I know that is not what you want to here but send coin to anacs and see if they think it’s been cleaned but pcgs said it’s AU so that is way off from ms66 to AU thanks

    Hi buddy, been awhile since I've commented. So the "cleaning" PCGS is calling out, would be that grey tonning look. As well as where the few toned spots have been discolored from a previous dip. Crack it out, run it through your process and resubmit it.

    • @rockysramblings
      @rockysramblings  8 месяцев назад +1

      Interesting. Thats a good idea but for now I’ll probably just keep it in the old holder. I like those holders anyway. Maybe I’ll pick a better one for my registry. But I’ll keep that in mind if I ever decide to! Thanks!

    Very good results. Perhaps the 1881 has been whizzed? The portrait on the obverse just looks flat.

      I’ll have to take a closer look but in person it looks great. Someone said to take it out, restore and resubmit. Its a good idea I think but I like the old holders 😪

    As much as pcgs can be annoying, they and ngc are the ones that get the most traction and sales. I wish i could love anacs, other than their older holders, the current yellow holders look so goofy.

    • @rockysramblings
      @rockysramblings  8 месяцев назад

      It’s true unfortunately. It’s funny that the biggest complaint I hear about them is the holder color as well. Wish they’d go back to the old blue or green ones. They should give a retro option and do the old soapboxes again

    The 81s doesn’t look cleaned to me. I have the 83CC and 84CC in GSA. I would be lucky to get MS60 on both. Since I only paid $50 each I’m still ahead.

    See how the anacs coin looks more dull then the ms 66. S mint should look like that one. That’s a way to tell if a coin has been cleaned
