hey brother , as an indian i can say most of the talks ur guest has said is true about india , it is hard to find these speakers in pakistan , 2008 -26/11 was watershed moment , if it happened today , modi would have retaliate without thinking , modi is good for us , he is honest , and country believes in him that he can take country where it was before british came , u may say he is little right wing but he is not extremist , he got majority in UP largest muslim state in india with more than 60 percent vote share , talking about pakistan , modi took a risk of his carrier by visiting pakistan in 2015 but know he feels that their is power vaccum in pakistan and most of indians feels that pakistan govt is controlled by army so their is no one credble to start dialogue with , and as ur govt stopped trade with us on kashmir isssue i dont know was helped by that ban , so pakistan is just completely isolated in higher powers because people feels that whenever we have normal relations some attack occur in INDIA ,

Where I stay in India , there are more than 50,000+ Sindhi settlers. They talk about Karachi and the businesses they had there. In fact, there's a chowk that has two names , one is the local name and the other name is Karachi chowk. There's a Karachi sweets and a Karachi hotel there. Some shops still have names written in Sindhi. They are today , one of the richest communities in my city. They started from scratch and I have hardly heard anybody calling them mujahirs or refugees. There's jhulelaal sweets and general stores. Apparently there have been muslim sindhis also who migrated to India.

Yeah. It’s not like the owner of that Karachi bakery had to hide the name of his bakery because of harassment. It’s not like the Sindhi hindus who migrated to India in recent times have started to return to Pakistan because they were harassed and shunned for being Pakistani and wearing shalwar kameez.

Excellent podcast. Engrossing and Educative. Few quick points. No mention of Hindus of Karachi. Their contribution to Karach and post partition their migration to India and today, Sindhis are very successful businessmen in India. Unlike Mohajir, Sindhis never faced any linguistic or erhnic discrimination in India. Parsi contribution to India is enormous, Field Marshal Manekshaw, Cricketiar Farooq Engineer, Industralist Godrej and many more. Its great tribute to Hindu culture that nobody Jews, Parsis or Ahmedias ever persecuted in India. Even Bohri community never ever faced any negative fallout because of Qaide Azam M A Jinnah role in creation of Pakistan. Problem is deep rooted Hindu hatred that Mr.Ali Chishti has not a word of praise for them.

I remember when I was child and my friends used to say that our parents say xyz (ethnic) people are bad. Means that's how we nurture our generation and result is that we hate each other.. I'm not only one here many would relate this. mr ali said we should give amnesty to the mqm workers who were involved in many murder cases becz they belong to mqm.. being that intellectual and supports to culprits where he should condemn for everyone who is involved in any criminal activity in karachi or Pakistan irrespective of any ethnic group.. may Allah protect us and Pakistan

Some corrections related to Parsis: Yes , the Parsis came to India to avoid persecution. Their fortunes were primarily made trading opium and textile from China . Slowly they started helping the British with the contracts also. They were early adopters of the British things and gelled with them. They did not marry Englishmen because if a Parsi marries outside of their community they're forever kicked out , only exception being the men sometimes. Today most Parsis are in Gujrat, Mumbai and Pune.

Stumbled upon this podcast and loved it. Great to see Ali Chisti after a long time, remember seeing him on Kamran Shahid's show. Sir, with all due respect to both, your understanding of India is way too simplistic. There was Congress govt from 2009-14 and the peace of talks didn't go anywhere even then. This is a foreign policy, doesn't change with govt. By the same token, it was Mr Vajpayee, who belongs to the same BJP/RSS from where Mr Modi comes, who started the peace process which you on your show were gloating on. Second, Mr Modi too tried the peace initiative, first in 2014 with his swearing in and second in 2015, when Mr Modi landed in Pakistan. Within a month we had Pathankot which has created a mood that after kab tak. I'm a great advocate of India-Pakistan friendship. Also, regarding extremism, we had instances in Kerela in 2016 where a professor's hand was chopped by a Muslim mob for saying something on Islam. Again there is no BJP MP or MLA in Kerela. So this frenzy is everywhere. These things are more amplified due to exposure and social media. Also, whenever Sara Ali khan gets trolled for visiting a temple or SRK gets trolled for ganesh chaturthi, check out the names of the people trolling him. Also, regarding media, sir you guys had PPL like Zaid Hamid, whom I know Ali doesn't like, were gloating about the attack and balkanization of India. I know that's not truly representative of Pakistan but this also is true. My msg is apna Zehen istemal karein, behkawe mein mat jaayein. Love from across the border in Delhi.

Don’t know why Ali blames Modi for offensive strategy of India. Indians wanted to give a tough time to Pakistan as response to any attack from their end. He is doing what Indians asked for. We will not take any attack lightly. Since Modi is in power, no serious terror attack has taken place as it used to be under Congress rule.
Indian Economy is reaching a point of almost double of what it use to be since he took charge.

In Pakistan, the quota system was actually introduced in 1948 when Liaquat Ali Khan was the prime minister who was the real architect of the quota system. A notification issued on September 1, 1948 laid down recruitment policy for the central services. Under the policy 15 per cent quota was reserved for the candidates who had not yet acquired the domicile of Pakistan.

MQM's people comes and demolish there walls if they didn't gave them Bhata. Yet you think MQM is good. I just can that God bless you with intellect. Muhajir AUR Karachi ko Tabha o barbaad karnay wali hi MQM hai. One more important thing is that Urdu speaking people were in superiority complex that no one can be bigger then them. For example they said Pashtons are controlling Low-level Business in Karachi. They were gaining Control because if they can make money from garbage don't you think they can't do that. Pashtuns too take pride in their customs and consider Indus Valley people as inferior daal khors. Sindhis think they are superior and consider Urdu speakers as inferior Panahgir. Enough of this muhajir bashing, no one is saint here and Urdu speakers were literally the last community in Pakistan to ascert their nationalism and that too because others had started to do the same esp after 1971 when muhajirs got convinced that this state doesn’t care for them when we literally threw Urdu speaking Biharis at the mercy of mukti bahini while we shamelessly took lacs of ungreatful afghans for dollars

The Pakistani elite doesn't care about Punjabi, Muhajir, Sindhi, Balochi or Pashtuns.... It's like saying "America is the representative of Christianity"..... Sindhis consider Muhajirs inferior, which Sindhis? The elites one? The waderas? Which don't actually represent the people of Sindh?. Pakistan is a complex country, which ruled by a class which doesn't give a f about you and me. And I think it was meant to be like this.... (And there are historical evidences for this). So stop dividing yourself into ethnicity, no one is against your ethnicity, no ethnicity, caste, religion or race is superior than other.....
Try to understand that you are just a puppet, fighting with each other in the name of ethnicity, while your own leaders were made and supported by the establishment/elites. For example: IK, Nawaz sharif, Bhutto, Alt*f hu*s.... And many more. These all were supported, pushed or created(politically) by the state.
And we the people of Karachi who have lived her for decades, whose whole family is in Karachi, who abandoned their language just because they want to merge with the people of Karachi, have faced a tremendous amount of violence by MQM. They didn't do anything, they were in power for decades, yet, they didn't do anything(except mustafa's era, which was supported by a dictator). So, I don't have any hopes from them. They always, always brag about ethnicity. I mean is ethnicity the only problem?. Is any human superior to any other human?. Haven't you even read your own religion? .....

You also need to bring in the Sindhi point of view here. Pre partition Sindh did not expect an influx of millions of people into the city who weren't culturally part of the land. Hence the friction. Although mujahirs did bring in an educated population, the dynamics of karachi had changed. That's why people refer to it as an unnatural migration. It's the same way, if you go to a foreign country and face racism there. On top Urdu was being forced on the local population without even making an attempt to understand their culture. Every attempt by a Sindhi or a Punjabi or a Baloch to promote their own culture was met with strong resistance. I'm sure non muhahirs give mujahirs the credit for their contribution to creation of the state but the mujahirs have failed to give enough credit to the other communities

    • @msr7373
      @msr7373 2 месяца назад

I would beg to differ. Muhajirs did learn the language and culture of other regions where they got settled . Even in Sindh when they got settled in nawabshah sukkur sanghar et cruet learned the language however karachi was a different ball game as karachi saw a complete demographic shift with urud speakers becoming in majority due to which the culture of karachi was no longer Sindhi but it became dominated by them due to which even non urdu speakers who live in karachi have adopted urdu and speak it comfortably. Sindhi simply has no economic usage in the city anymore. Second I am afraid most Sindhis don’t give muhajirs the credit of economic development at all rather completely discredit their contribution. Sindhis have been wrongly taught that muhajirs only came here to get false claims. Only 4 lac Sindhi Hindus left Sindh and were replaced by 11 lac muhajirs it was practically impossible for them to get false claims esp when a large number of Hindus who left were from rural Sindh where urdu speaking muhajirs never went. Muhajirs are shown as land grabbers who are eating away Sindh which is absolutely wrong the reality is that due to quotas and discriminatory politics of Sindh govt it’s the muhajirs who are being kept away from govt jobs . Lacs of non muhairs work and live in karachi can a karachite muhajir go and live like this in larkana or shikarpur in rodent dat and age without getting discriminated? Sindhi nationalists don’t have the guts to challenge the Sindh govt hence they vent their anger on muhajirs the day Sindhis start to consider us as their own and support us in getting the rights for karachi and stop considering us as Panahgirs, muhajirs will also reciprocate .
Urdu was already working as the official language of most of present day Pakistan long before partition including Punjab KPK and Balochistan hence imposing Urdu didn’t even arise. Govt simply continued with the policy. No one stops provinces from adopting their local languages , Sindh has already done that, and others can do it too. No point to blame Urdu speaker for that
Finally Pakistan was made for the Muslims of entire subcontinent not just for Sindhis Punjabis Bengali Pashtuns and Baloch alone. Indian Muslims too had a right in it esp when they played equal role in Pakistan movement. If Sindh can take credit by just passing a resolution in Sindh assembly then muhajirs and Indian Muslims have a bigger credit as they supported league when Muslim majority provinces including Sindh were supporting congress. They supported through Aligarh university, financiall by funding the movement and to this day Indian Muslims are paying a price for Pakistan by being told to go to Pakistan even if they ask for basic rights. Pakistan should be greatful that india didn’t push all Muslims into pakistan otherwise muhajirs would have been in absolute majority here.

Your comparison is wrong. Punjabi and Bengali refugees then be Hindus or Muslims were never called refugees as they both had a section of Bengal and Punjab ready to accommodate them in both india and Pakistan. They simply moved from one side of their native province to another. As for Sindhis despite their business acumen Etc their numbers were too small to be a dominant community anywhere except for small towns like adipur and Ulhasnagar. Sindhis in terms of number are a microscopic minority in india at just 0.25% who are sprinkled all over india thus too small to create any sort of challenge or uneasiness for any ethnicity unlike Urdu speaking muhajirs who are one of the largest communities in Pakistan numerically and dominate the largest city and commercial hub of the country. Due to which an ethnic identity was born whcih could assert itself politically. Sindhis in india are too small to assert themselves as a political entity like large groups in india can like Sikhs or Tamils or Gujaratis Etc.

Firstly I should confess, I like your podcast for discussing many controversial issues with open mind. having said that, your perception or understanding of PM Modi and BJP is wrong. As soon as he took over, he invited Pak PM for his oath taking ceremony, he visited Nawaz Shariff for his family function in Lahore. But what he got in return? Pathankot attack, Uri attack? Modi for India is all inclusive growth, not a single govt policy is discriminatory. on 26/11, the army major and ISI were involved and all audio recordings are in public domain. What about Dawood? How can you dismiss such real issues? How can any self respecting nation accept such blatant shelter for terrorists? What about Kargil?
