Assad Durrani was not on the scene during Kashmir uprising. This was in fact a spontaneous reaction on rigged elections in Kashmir under Indira's ruling Congress. It was absolutely an indigenous movement initiated by JKL Front and JI. However it later became adopted child by ISI with tacit support of CIA. The latter was also behind Sikhs Movement in East Punjab. Pakistan was just playing as second fiddle. The US of course used Pakistan as proxy but she herself was the main beneficiary. I'm confused about what he meant by that. Is he suggesting that militancy is acceptable in Kashmir but not in Pakistan? It's important to remember that extremism, militancy, or terrorism is never justifiable, regardless of the location. Unless people change their mindset, Pakistan will keep heading towards extremism.

I'm Indian, below are my observations.... Pakistan will break again like 1971, this time from Balochistan, if they are not careful about themselves. Like before the fault will be entirely Pakistan's creation by himself. Like in Bangladesh (East Pakistan at that time), they are making the same mistakes in Baloch. In Bangladesh their actions were 5x faster but in Baloch it is 10x slower. What it means is their actions and reactions happen in Bangladesh in a span of 5year, same action and reaction happening in Baloch in a span of 50years. In this 50years, half is already finished (I'm counting from 2000). Balochistan will be a bigger issue for you if their bigger neighbour(in terms of border land) who is an enemy of Pakistan becomes stronger than Pakistan in economics terms..... Yes I'm talking about 'Afghanistan'.... If Afghan becomes stronger than Pakistan in economic trade in the world, the stability on your western border will be gone permanently along with Balochistan. There are two solutions against it. 1. Destabilise Afghanistan Or 2. Right policy and improving Balochistan economically If you think, the first option is an easy solution (definitely Pakistan Army will be thinking that since they can use their existing resources and expertise), you may win temporarily, create some difficulty for Afghan for some period but eventually you will loose.... Because change a country/destabilise it is not that easy especially Afghanistan. British, Russian and American tried it and failed eventually!!!! So what is left in your hand is the second option.... Why it is easy? Because the action and reaction of that option should take place inside Pakistan and it is easy to control, change and correct accordingly. When Pakistan got independence in 1947 there were intellectuals in that country in Bangal (later became Bangladesh), Baloch, Sindh, Kyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltiatan & Kashmir, Punjab.... (Exactly in this order).. Bangladesh left already, now the next is Baloch in the line.... Remember 'Operation Search Light' is the biggest mistake in East Pakistan history where the violence reached the intellectual & Middle class in Bangalis, the same is happening now in recent times in Balochistan. The only difference is the geographical and economical position of a stronger neighbour. In Bangladesh there was a geographic and economically stronger India.... Here the role of that neighbour is in the hands of Afghanistan. Situation in Baloch is not explosive because Afghan is not yet economically stronger. This is giving Pakistan a stronger window of 10-20years to reform themselves..... If they don't, then....it will be a different story we will be talking in 2040

Get your history right !!! The jihadist campaign in Kashmir did not start with Zia-ul-Haq. As early as in 1950s, covert militancy campaign was started by Pakistan Army. Read about Salim Jahangir Khan, Major Asgar Ali, Abbas Ali Shah (SP of Rawalpindi police). They played prominent role in spreading militancy in those days. And in Mizoram in North East India, Pak Army armed a massive insurgency lead by MNF. So much so that Indira administration had to resort to aerial bombing to protect the trapped Govt employees from sure death. Mizo incident may have prompted Indira to decisively go for support of secession of East Pakistan. Yes, this is the event that made India immensely insecure and convinced India that it can not afford this relentless two front covert war. The contact was established with Seikh Mujib immediately after.

Assad Durrani was not on the scene during Kashmir uprising. This was in fact a spontaneous reaction on rigged elections in Kashmir under Indira's ruling Congress. It was absolutely an indigenous movement initiated by JKL Front and JI. However it later became adopted child by ISI with tacit support of CIA. The latter was also behind Sikhs Movement in East Punjab. Pakistan was just playing as second fiddle. The US of course used Pakistan as proxy but she herself was the main beneficiary. India which was pro Soveit was tamed and ultimately they became strategic partners. The Jargil War should be scene in the same background.
Zahid Sb is an absolute Gem and Shehzad was absolutely right that there should be a series with him on how our country was destroyed by our own leaders.

I'm confused about what he meant by that. Is he suggesting that militancy is acceptable in Kashmir but not in Pakistan? It's important to remember that extremism, militancy, or terrorism is never justifiable, regardless of the location. Unless people change their mindset, Pakistan will keep heading towards extremism.

I'm Indian, below are my observations....
Pakistan will break again like 1971, this time from Balochistan, if they are not careful about themselves. Like before the fault will be entirely Pakistan's creation by himself.
Like in Bangladesh (East Pakistan at that time), they are making the same mistakes in Baloch. In Bangladesh their actions were 5x faster but in Baloch it is 10x slower. What it means is their actions and reactions happen in Bangladesh in a span of 5year, same action and reaction happening in Baloch in a span of 50years. In this 50years, half is already finished (I'm counting from 2000).
Balochistan will be a bigger issue for you if their bigger neighbour(in terms of border land) who is an enemy of Pakistan becomes stronger than Pakistan in economics terms..... Yes I'm talking about 'Afghanistan'.... If Afghan becomes stronger than Pakistan in economic trade in the world, the stability on your western border will be gone permanently along with Balochistan.
There are two solutions against it.
1. Destabilise Afghanistan
Or
2. Right policy and improving Balochistan economically
If you think, the first option is an easy solution (definitely Pakistan Army will be thinking that since they can use their existing resources and expertise), you may win temporarily, create some difficulty for Afghan for some period but eventually you will loose.... Because change a country/destabilise it is not that easy especially Afghanistan. British, Russian and American tried it and failed eventually!!!!
So what is left in your hand is the second option.... Why it is easy? Because the action and reaction of that option should take place inside Pakistan and it is easy to control, change and correct accordingly.
When Pakistan got independence in 1947 there were intellectuals in that country in Bangal (later became Bangladesh), Baloch, Sindh, Kyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltiatan & Kashmir, Punjab.... (Exactly in this order).. Bangladesh left already, now the next is Baloch in the line.... Remember 'Operation Search Light' is the biggest mistake in East Pakistan history where the violence reached the intellectual & Middle class in Bangalis, the same is happening now in recent times in Balochistan. The only difference is the geographical and economical position of a stronger neighbour. In Bangladesh there was a geographic and economically stronger India.... Here the role of that neighbour is in the hands of Afghanistan. Situation in Baloch is not explosive because Afghan is not yet economically stronger. This is giving Pakistan a stronger window of 10-20years to reform themselves..... If they don't, then....it will be a different story we will be talking in 2040

Get your history right !!! The jihadist campaign in Kashmir did not start with Zia-ul-Haq. As early as in 1950s, covert militancy campaign was started by Pakistan Army. Read about Salim Jahangir Khan, Major Asgar Ali, Abbas Ali Shah (SP of Rawalpindi police). They played prominent role in spreading militancy in those days. And in Mizoram in North East India, Pak Army armed a massive insurgency lead by MNF.
