A New Fidget EDC Classic. The Serge Knives Rager Review.

  • I declare the serge Rager to be a new button lock fidget classic. You don't need to put in the time Bali Bois do, when you have something as easy to flick and pop as this pocket knife. I compare it to some other cool fidget knives like the Winter Blade Co Factor, the Demko AD-20.5, and the Spyderco Para Military 2. These will be available on Serge's website every few weeks with different handle variations. Please follow his Instagram and sign up for his newsletter so you can know when the drops go live. The Carbon Fiber Variant goes live Monday June 12.

About a 13 years ago I went on a mission to find a Benchmade Model 43 Balisong. I lucked out and found a dealer that got about 10 of them from a one off run-of 1k right prior to their discontinuation. She had held one for me, and to get it I had to drive between two states and buy it from her directly at a gun show. She was so incredibly nice she didn’t even mark it up and she sold it to me at cost because she knew how happy it was going to make me. I got it with the intent of learning how to flip. 3rd day in, I cut the ever living shit out of my finger by grabbing the blade and it scared the poop out of me. And when I say bad it was terrible. I ended up selling it for 400 more dollars than I bought it for about 2 years later.

I ordered one of these about a month ago, and it's super duper fidgety. I thought maybe it was some sort of limited run, because it was on the site for just a couple days then gone. Mine is in a really nice micarta, and has a number "083" on it, which I assumed was a serial number. If they're coming back I'm glad because it's just too cool of a knife to be a super limited run. Also I don't really dig fat carbon, so I'm glad I was able to get mine in micarta.

When I first got my Buck 830 Marksman, the one with the Grant & Gavin Hawk locking mechanism called the Strong Lock System, I was having trouble figuring our how to close the knife as easily as I could open it. I found that if I held the back of the handle in the palm of my had with my last two fingers, I could use my middle finger and thumb to pull back on the strap lack to disengage it, and put pressure on the back of the blade with my index finger to snap the blade closed. First couple of times it went flawlessly, but then I got the timing wrong and my index finger came right off the back of the blade and shot past the edge. As it rebounded back, I effectively whittled a good portion of the side of my index finger right off. Was that a bleeder.

A colleague of mine has to have a code word for when something is an actual problem due to the high levels of sarcasm used throughout the day. Perhaps an asterix would help in this video.
Having never opened an axis lock but watched many videos about it, it seemed easy enough so i loaded up my thumb on the thumb stud. The blade popped out and my thumb followed lazily through space behind it, reaching a the same destination some time later. When this occurred my thumb slid along the edge with the same energy I had applied to opening the blade leaving blood and a pocket knife across the kitchen floor. It was an oopsie.

Fat carbon, titanium liners, with n690 seems like a weird combination but it’s a good looking knife.

I mean if it was m390 everyone would be complaining it’s too expensive.

@@AdvancedKnifeBrodoesn’t M390’s drag coefficient create a greater likelihood of a ting? I believe N690 was carefully selected in this instance because it creates more of a schwing sound, which is obvi preferable in the case of a Rager. Pretty sure I’m right about this.
