    I'm in my 50s and my dad gave me my first pocket knife when I was about 5. He told me never leave home without a pocket knife. He gave me my first hunting knife when I was about 7. I've always loved knives. I bought a Buck 110 for my dad's birthday when I was about 10 years old, and tried to trade him out of it for many years. I miss my dad a lot, and every time I look at that Buck knife, I smile.

    I love this! As an older *coff* *old fart* it amazes me how people DON'T carry knives anymore. I got my first pocket knife at about 10 years old, started whittling. (look it up if you don't know! The old timers did it, and I was obsessed!) Been carrying almost 50 years now, taught my kids, and now my grandson is about to get his first. You always need a knife. If you don't think you will, start carrying one! You'll be surprised. My son was SURE he'd never need to carry one.. I gave him a multi-tool with him shaking his head going 'dad, I'll never use this".. as soon as he got home, his brother in law was visiting for a party, said "Hey, anyone got a cork screw?" SON OF a GUN LOL.. he had to call me to tell me. ) I can't tell you how many people will ride or drive with no tools, no knife, nothing. I can't tell you how many times I've loaned my Leatherman to a "biker" who had to fix a fender, chain, bolt, something small, but were stuck on the side of the parking lot trying to tighten the smallest stuff with their fingers. .I believe in at least carrying a quality multi-tool (currently Leatherman Free P4) and a decent flipper (CRKT Pilar or Kershaw Onion right now).

    The law makers in the Uk need to watch this. So many people with knives of all shapes and sizes, OTFs, fixed blades…and no one is randomly stabbing each other or committing crimes. Who would have thought! We have such ridiculously stupid and illogical knife laws in this country. The question about what the last thing you cut was…that is a stroke of genius. People who aren’t knife people always ask why I carry a knife and who am I going to stab with it or do I think I’m going to get mugged.

      At least you guys can carry non locking pocket knives. Over here in Finland any blade you carry you need specific reason for carry, and its up to individual officer to think if its good enough reason. So technically even small swiss army knife could land you in trouble over here.

    • @MRWKFClark
      @MRWKFClark 2 года назад

      @@lalli8152 it’s bad that it’s pure luck whether or not the officer will agree with your reason. Is this even for non locking knives? Or are you allowed to carrying a locking/fixed blade if you have a good reason? I just find it hilariously stupid that a sub 3” non locking is absolutely fine but if you have a 1” blade that locks then that’s not ok.

    • @lalli8152
      @lalli8152 2 года назад

      @@MRWKFClark Same rule applies for any blade. I guess if you have small pocket knife police might not be even interested, but its basicly luck. At least you guys have some guide line, and legal rule for EDC blades because over here it feels so vague. Luckily police here seem rarely to be total bricks, and in countryside where i live people tend not to freak out about knives even though i wouldnt pull one out in public. Hunters for example in hunting season are in village store usually empty sheath on their belt cos they leave the knife in car, but if for some reason some hunter has their knife on belt typically people dont bat an eye. I wouldnt try that in city store though

    I love the event pocket checks. It's so much fun. I admit I started with flea market and gas station knives myself. Then you and Nick Shabazz made me a knife guy. Now I'm carrying a fresh out of the box Hogue Deka wharncliffe in magnacut. I'd love to see a 3.75 inch for full tactical use. Amazing knife.

    Great video. Notice that the older guys tended to carry something with some sentimental value or that they have a lot of history with. I've got a Boy Scout pocket knife from the 1960s and a Buck 110 and a Schrade LB7 from the 1980s and 2000, respectively, due to sentimental value. I carry other knives with them but they just please my sense of nostalgia when they are with me.

    Good idea! I like the fact that many of these guys have been carrying the same knife for years and often not particularly expensive ones.
    Right now I'm carrying a Barlow with O1 steel and oak handles handmade in Sheffield, England. I'm pretty sure my grandchild will carry it one day. It's totally a user. The more gourmet versions are more likely to be babied.

    I live in sweden where it's illegal to carry a knife. We recently had a press announcement from the police. In one of the gang controlled areas close to me the police had entered with their undercover van. The lookouts knows their plate number (singular) and will call up the gang members so they can drop any illegal items before the police shows up. The police was proud to announce to the media that they had sized "warfare weapons and narcotics". Then they showed the booty to the camera. A fixed bladed knife with a plastic handle aswell as black switch blade. The narcotics was 2 cannabis joints found in a cigarette pack thrown in the same trash can as the knives. I couldn't help but to cringe.

Currently carrying a Kershaw (google says its a Leek) and its been by far my best pocket carry knife so far with about 2 years under its belt.
