Always fun seeing channels get into/share their EDC gear. As you mentioned, the whole EDC gear thing has really blown up, and there's so many options for basically everything!
It's not exactly bug out gear, but a trickle charger for your car battery is absolutely essential for bugging in. We rarely use our car right now except for doctor appointments, and for groceries twice a month, and I'm blessed to be able to resume court reporting using ZOOM. So our car just sits in the garage. The trickle charger means our battery stays charged. It's very comforting!
@Predbeau101 Starting up car every week or so is not a bad idea, it would be ideal if you could go for a short ride though. Buying a cheap trickle charger is a good option, they cost about same as you would spend on gas while your car will idle.
Comment no.3 the covert defense tool is great because titanium doesn't set off metal detectors. I have an ankle and lower leg full of titanium to prove it

It's the same with a good multi tool. I just got a Leatherman Rebar purely because of Gear Acquisition Syndrome (I'm guilty) but since I have it, I actually use it pretty much every other day and it spares me quite some time EDCing it and not having to: - go get a box cutter - go get to the tool box to get a screw driver - go get pliers - get a bottle opener - get scissors - get who knows what tool you need for every day tasks and not having to put everything back after I used it. Especially handy when you're at work or not at home and you need to have what ever tool at hand and you actually have it in you pocket or at your belt. It's not just to have it for SHTF or the rare case of self-defense. The other day my wife bought a fen that needed to be assembled. I didn't need to go to the garage to get the tools I needed, I just grabbed the Leatherman from my belt and had everything I needed at hand. Surely a small amount of time that was saved there, but it was oh so convenient. Cutting all those boxes your wife orders at Amazon and put them to small pieces with your serrated multi tool blade is a joy. You want to change strings on you guitar? Just use the wire cutters from your Leatherman (which work better than dedicated wire cutters btw! Went through the thick B-sting of a 5-string bass like it was nothing!) Best $100 investment I made in a long time. The only thing it doesn't do is unscrew your wife. (stupid dad joke, I know) Same with a tactical flashlight! I got the ThruNite BSS V4, which is just undeniably the best value for your money on the market at the moment! Super powerful tactical flashlight with an aggressive bezel that functions as a kubotan/tactical pen as well. Forget the "glas breaker" function though - you won't break car glass with most glass breaker tools or tactical pens that advertise this. I tried it multiple times on a scrap yard and a normal person won't be able to break a car door window with those, especially not from the inside. For that purpose, have a dedicated spring loaded glas breaker in your car! And not only do I feel safer (especially where I live, where you can't carry fire arms or even knives), but I use it much more in every day life than I ever thought I would. Even if it is a simple task as to light up the dark parking lot at work or bringing out trash easier, because that land lord refuses to replace bulbs in the container area. Drop something under your car seat, your engine does funny stuff and you need to see what's going on, just pull your EDC flashlight and spare your phone battery or the way to the trunk to get a flashlight. Everyone should EDC at least a tactical light and a multi tool. Seriously! Even if I wear shorts that don't have loops for a belt, I wear a belt with all my EDC stuff on on top of it anyway when I leave the house, because it is so useful and nobody notices you wear it! I call it the "bat belt". I use some EDC hacks, so you don't have to carry a bulky leather cases for each and every item - but bike tire tubes are the greatest solution ever, trust me! Slim and discrete. I never go out without it anymore! In fact I feel naked when I left it at home for some stupid reason! It's even worse than to forget your phone.

That hex tool would be a pretty slick addition to my hunting pack. I'm an archery hunter, and I always have a hex set in my pack. Before I make my hike to the stand, I will check over my bow over in case my quiver or sights are loose. When I'm going in, I want to be as quiet as possible, and if my bow is making any noise because of a loose bolt holding something like my quiver, it makes noise. Not to mention if my sights aren't fully tight, it can make an easy shot a missed or wounded animal because it can funk up my pins. I do the same during turkey season going over my shotgun, because your slide can rattle around depending on the quality of gun you're using. I'm a hunter that takes everything into thought when prepping for opening day, so it works for me!
Thanks so much for all of these reviews and showcasing your EDCs. The Keybar, or a tool like it is so important from a home security perspective. At the 20:41 mark, that SHIREPOST coin was funny. At the 6:48 mark, I thought that was a WWII German gernade. I think it was nicknamed the POTATO MASHER because of its odd look. Of course it was much bigger than this little screwdriver tool.
Great video! As always good information and Thanks for the shoutout! Let us know next time you’re in town, we’ve got some really cool events coming up soon!
Seeing that SOG tool which incorporates a knife sharpener,I would think more tools should have one of those, because out in the bush or hiking, your knife going blunt on you could be a real nuisance. A sharpener on the multi tool would be a godsend.
That spike at the end is really badass! I have something similar that is an extremely sturdy pen, of all things. It can be used to break a car window ,poke someone or actually write a note!
Just ordered a penetrator from GG&G tactical this tool seems like a great accessory for SHTF, if there is a water storage system you cannot get into this will surely get through plastic even light alluminum containers. Thanks for the video and letting us know where to purchase them!
You don’t have to unscrew the prybrid: just push out the blade further and you can replace the blade. I Carry it daily and I really like it but it’s hard to find a replace blade here in Belgium because there are different types of exacto blade n11...
MAC V SOG, was a special ops team in Vietnam. MAC V basically did operations before the start of US involvement in the war, as well as after the US entered the war. It was all unconventional warfare. I guess most people wouldn’t get reference to Vietnam these days.
MAC-V (Military Assistance Command-Vietnam) was what the US Military referred to itself as in Vietnam. SOG (Studies and Observation Group) was a cover name for all sorts of separate SpecOps fireteam up to company size and larger orperations. SOG (Studies and Observation Group) had up to multiple company size operations towards the end of the war. BDA's (Bomb Damage Assessment), LRRP's/Lurps, PsyOps, Eldest Son, all sorts of things. By 1970, SOG comprised hundreds of indigs, US military personnel, with well established FOB's and such of their own. RIP to all One-Zero's and One-One's, One-Two's.
Sootch @SensiblePrepper, that one tool is pronounced MACV (Mac "V") SOG. That was a paramilitary group during Vietnam and stands for "Military Airlift Command Vietnam Special Operations Group". Thought you might like to know for future videos. Good stuff though.
Great video. My EDC changes from day to day. Sometimes I have my Chonk Boi CRKT Raikari Field Strip folder or my one of my small.neck knives: Artisan Cutlery Sea Snake designed by Mike Emler or my CRKT SPEW by Alan Folts. I've usually got my rechargeable headlamp or my Nitecore rechargeable tiny flashlight. I can't afford Olight. I'm going to buy the Gerber Strongarm. It depends on whether I am just carrying my fanny pack or backpack. I love seeing all the different EDC gear.
I usually keep a skeletool on a 6 foot hank of paracord that goes into my utility pocket. The pocket I keep my knife and pen light in. The ceramic knife sharpener broke real early on. None the less, it goes with my edc. Just thought I'd share.
I’ve been considering buying the Gerber Armbar Drive myself, mainly for the bit driver and the scissors..I EDC my Leatherman Rebar but unfortunately,it doesn’t have a bit driver and scissors..I wish I could swap out the knife blade for scissors on my Rebar..I’ve never used the knife blade on my Rebar because I always have a good knife on me
Like you said not for everyone. For me an old fashioned key ring beats those heavy and imo weird looking key holders all day long. Yeah I guess I'm not cool.... On that $99 bit driver, I'll take a HF 4 bit combination screw driver for a whopping $2
Been thinking about getting one of those arm bar drives the next time I’m ordering a new knife. And Kershaw pt1 is another great keychain tool. Love that thing.
That "brass spike" is actually an ink well pen. The "design" on the tip is designed to hold ink, by surface tension, after dipping in the ink well. You'll see similar pens made of blown glass.
@@liberatedentrepreneur149 i don’t think this guy knows what he’s talking about😂, That grip design would make for the most uncomfortable writing experience ever plus the weight. It would probably work better as a booty plug then a pen😂
Really want to thank you for all your reviews watch them all always looking forward to more. My favorite in this review was the gerber driver. Think I will pick that one up. I am a Gerber mult tool fan and have been using over 20 years. take care and God bless.
Get your lady friend a membership for self defense classes instead. Invariably a weapon is never handy when you need it, and it can be taken from you and used against you. No woman wants to carry around a heavy hunk of brass that is never used.
how do you store all tose little 1/4-inch drive bits that are loose or in a rubber holder so you can keep them with the multi-tool? You'll need a separate bag or box! Nop offense, but my small collection of screw drivers, wrenches, and a swiss army knife does all those things.
Another fun video! The Gerber center drive with tool bits and Leather sheath multitool is one of my new favorite EDC items. I still like my military USA made 600 series multitool with the bit set. It also fits in the US made leather center drive pouch. Cheers Just starting out on your EDC It's hard to beat a Victorinox Swiss Army Huntsmam or Camper But what I use most is my made in the USA medium stockman in a leather pocket pouch that also has a place for a aaa flashlight. Got the pocket pouch on Amazon. Cheers
SOG MACV stands for -Special- Studies & Operations- Group Military Assistance Command, Vietnam - the organization of SF guys that were in (no surprise) 'Nam. IDK if the tool has any connection to those vets or is just commemorative. But the skull in a beret was definitely on their patch. That pen self defense tool can be replicated with a common transparent Bic pen for a fraction of the price. You can sharpen the tip to a needle point _on a rug._ It's not as durable but it's 3 times more concealable. (Thank you Vigilance Elite) I like to always carry a Fisher space pen and some cut down 3 x 5 cards for note taking, leaving messages, etc. in my wallet.
You dont unscrew the Prybrid X to change the blade. The blade lock slides forward more then you push the tab with your finger and the blade slides out. Do the same and slide the new blade in. I have both models, the Prybrid and Prybrid X

I carry a Lumintop tool AA 2.0 and a Kershaw shuffle 2
Good starter pack. Mines was shuffle 2 and streamlight microstream usb
@@BYOB561 I carry cheapies because I always lose stuff.
Leatherman Micra ~ another great little multi-tool!

MAC V SOG, was a special ops team in Vietnam. MAC V basically did operations before the start of US involvement in the war, as well as after the US entered the war. It was all unconventional warfare. I guess most people wouldn’t get reference to Vietnam these days.
Mike Glover and Andy Stumpf did a great podcast with a Veitnam MACV SOG badass... was fantastic!
My go to multi tool has been my havalon. What an absolute machine of a tool.
PSA wouldn't recommend showing your keys on camera. Easy to replicate just based on a picture. Really enjoyed the video! Thanks!
The brass spike can be used to break a car window, or you can use a center punch
Bonus, the Olight can double as a incendiary device!
Been watching you since your maxpedition bag reviews. 10 + years. First comment. Thank you for what you do.
This is an insane amount of stuff that can be solved with a simple multitool, flashlight and pen.
MACVSOG was an acronym for: military assistance command Vietnam special operations group,as well as the grinning skull with a beret.
Always have carried a multi tool...and knife...also carry mini Ifak...and lockpicks, handcuff key and Firestarter materials
I know a guy who edc a wrench. If you live in that niche of people who work with bolts a lot it’s pretty handy
Sootch @SensiblePrepper, that one tool is pronounced MACV (Mac "V") SOG. That was a paramilitary group during Vietnam and stands for "Military Airlift Command Vietnam Special Operations Group". Thought you might like to know for future videos. Good stuff though.
There you go again lol, I’ll see if I can get out of this video without buying something
The 3key mos spike (spike with wrapped handle) is sold out I checked already... lol .. but that's one I'll be getting..
Thanks for the video. I have a few of these and am looking forward to snaggin a few others.
Sootch, love this video!! Keep us updated if you find any more interesting EDC gear!! I think you should make this a regular part of your channel.
The spike is cool. The Brits had something similar in WW II for their agents. Just ordered one ... Best from Germany.
Great gifts for sons and grandson for Christmas. Thanks
Sootch can sing. Where is the Batman Utility belt i'm going to need? :D
Bear Scare- loud horns, bright light, and a pull cord on pack to extend BIG bat wings!
Scotch is good- no hangover.. Please pass on My idea to outdoorsy's !!
That SOG MACV tool is awesome....my only complaint is that the top notches get caught on keyring and other keys!
I'm not a gear head but I appreciate the video!!
That poker chip/coin is such an amazing idea
And The Chip for the Win 👍
Sog skull and Geekey go everywhere I do.
Would be interesting to have that marine spike with barbs or something for spear fishing.
Great idea……great video! Very cool fun stuff. Gonna check out a number of these.
Uh, no
@@liberatedentrepreneur149 i don’t think this guy knows what he’s talking about😂, That grip design would make for the most uncomfortable writing experience ever plus the weight. It would probably work better as a booty plug then a pen😂
@@Dicey6969
Booty plug 😂😂
No wonder he's so fond of it.
Really want to thank you for all your reviews watch them all always looking forward to more. My favorite in this review was the gerber driver. Think I will pick that one up. I am a Gerber mult tool fan and have been using over 20 years. take care and God bless.
Really appreciate your videos always look forward to them , thanks for your time and talent.
What's the website for the 8in spike?
That antique look driver has another funtction. The narrow part of the body can be used to hold a wrap of electrical tape.
That brass kubaton does look really cool! I want to get one for my lady friend. This is a really fun video! Thanks for all you do!
Get your lady friend a membership for self defense classes instead. Invariably a weapon is never handy when you need it, and it can be taken from you and used against you. No woman wants to carry around a heavy hunk of brass that is never used.
12:12 if you put extra screws in it, how are you gonna get them out? They’re in your screwdriver lol
Right about the small flashlite, I use mine every day. And it seems like we use scissors every day now.
Awesome video Don. Love my gadgets and gizmos.
I prefer the gerber armbar slim I’ve found it a perfect compliment to my little edc tool kit
I'm looking for an edc usb chargeable flashlight, any ideas?
It gets dark EVERYDAY:) torche is a must :)
I've been carrying the gerber prybrid since xmas. I do like it pretty well. The kershaw select fire is a good one too. I found one at work.
how do you store all tose little 1/4-inch drive bits that are loose or in a rubber holder so you can keep them with the multi-tool? You'll need a separate bag or box!
Nop offense, but my small collection of screw drivers, wrenches, and a swiss army knife does all those things.
Weapons, key rings, and bottle openers.
Everything a violent drunk needs to get home alive. 👍
That penetrator as a defense tool would really core someone pretty good. That would not feel good
Mini sawyer filter, knife, fero rod, thats it thats all you need
Love that Smokey Mountain knife works
Another fun video!
The Gerber center drive with tool bits and Leather sheath multitool is one of my new favorite EDC items.
I still like my military USA made 600 series multitool with the bit set. It also fits in the US made leather center drive pouch.
Cheers
Just starting out on your EDC It's hard to beat a Victorinox Swiss Army Huntsmam or Camper
But what I use most is my made in the USA medium stockman in a leather pocket pouch that also has a place for a aaa flashlight.
Got the pocket pouch on Amazon.
Cheers
Spikes are gret for handling knots and lines! Ie. Sailor's Marlin spike
Can you do a review on the leatherman tread bracelet
SOG MACV stands for -Special- Studies & Operations- Group Military Assistance Command, Vietnam - the organization of SF guys that were in (no surprise) 'Nam. IDK if the tool has any connection to those vets or is just commemorative. But the skull in a beret was definitely on their patch.
That pen self defense tool can be replicated with a common transparent Bic pen for a fraction of the price. You can sharpen the tip to a needle point _on a rug._ It's not as durable but it's 3 times more concealable. (Thank you Vigilance Elite)
I like to always carry a Fisher space pen and some cut down 3 x 5 cards for note taking, leaving messages, etc. in my wallet.
Studies & operations group
@@hawkgrunt4182 I stand corrected.
You dont unscrew the Prybrid X to change the blade. The blade lock slides forward more then you push the tab with your finger and the blade slides out. Do the same and slide the new blade in. I have both models, the Prybrid and Prybrid X
SOG and MACV are acronyms:
MACV-SOG Military Assistance Command, Vietnam - Studies and Observations Group
Can the marine spike be used as ice pick?
I bought a pepper spray around a year ago and even though I've never used it I feel like it could be my best edc other than my cell phone.
SMKW rocks-one of my favorite places.
Thank you Don. What you do matters!
