  • Earlier this month, News 5 Investigates aired the story of a disabled veteran's family who was forced to stay in a hotel for months while squatters lived in their condo, rent free. The family now has their home back but inside, there was nothing but trash and a few items like a sleeping mat left behind.

Courts acted immediately. Police are the ones who did not act. Have to wonder why no one told them to contact a local or state rep. or legal aid. I'm sure there are lawyers who would have helped them out pro bono.

Not just in your country - it happens here in the UK and costs the homeowners thousands and thousands just to get them removed. Then add on the clean up money, fixing things. Its horrendous. And in most cases - the squatters go free to find their next victims.

Also what happens to the low life's that took over what was never theirs in the first place to include the destruction of someone else's property and belonging's?? I just cannot believe the audacity of the people that did this along with the fact that they just simply walk away (When legally forced) possibly moving on to their next victim as a way to live rent free. Mind blowing how they can even live with who they have become in life. I am glad that the family was able to get their place back just sad that it ever happened in the first place.

THANK YOU to ALL who helped this Man and his Family try to regain their 'normal' again. It makes my heart swell with pride knowing there are still people out there who selflessly care about others and will do what it takes to try to make the victims of crimes, lives alittle easier. Bravo!
