- A Colorado Springs couple finally gained access to their home after squatters changed the door locks. The rightful homeowners had to go to court and file paperwork to "legally" evict them.

Who the hell came up with "squatters rights"? These squatters are trespassing, breaking and entering...thieving. They should be arrested IMMEDIATELY. It's a world gone utterly mad.
Democrats, they come up with all these illegal stances.

@@johnfish1194 Nope. Variations of 'absentee ownership' or squatters rights were introduced in the U.S. in the 1800s to assist first settlers to acquire vacated properties. But the idea goes back much further in history.

My uncle had this happen to him one time. He lived in Pennsylvania and was gone for a month. He came home and squatters had moved in and changed the locks. He went to the shed in the back yard that still had his padlock on it and got his chainsaw. He removed the back door from the house with that chainsaw and for some reason the house emptied out within about 20 seconds. They never came back.
This made my day. Uncle was fixin' to go chainsaw on that ass 🤣.
Wow, I had a great laugh from that, thanks. I can only imagine that hilarious outcome.

Well you messed up waiting months, it only takes a few seconds to get rid of home invaders.
There needs to be a 'group' that people can hire who say nothing, see nothing, and hear nothing.

How unfair that squatters have more rights than the homeowner.
And the laws haven't changed. Oh yeah, the church took the squatters side, saying I was being cruel. They stole me blind and it cost thousands of $$$$$ and months to get the bastards out of my house. There are people living in motels who can't go back to their own home due to squatters' rights.

The fact is that these squatters are just one side of the coin, if some laws were changed than those scam renters would immediately use it to declare someone as a squatter and kick them out even if they pay.
Exactly. You know what? The Police would remove the squatters straight away. But because it's we the ordinary people who have to deal with it, our Representatives are like: "Oh ahh you have to go through the courts to get an Eviction "
Great idea! Stay in the Governor's mansion and see if it takes the sheriffs "several weeks" to get us thrown out.
I've gone through this myself. On the day we went to court the people in the house never showed up in court and we got the eviction notice paperwork. Went to the house and they were GONE. And the house was trashed. Took us 2 weeks to clean it all up and re-paint and ... what a pain. The courts are upside down.

I was supposed to move into a home I rented. I had already switched the utilities into my name and when I showed up the resident said he decided not to move. The landlord, a friend of mine, didn't know anything about that. He confronted the resident who said he wasn't leaving and that my friend would have to take him to court. The next day four big guys showed up after the resident left for work. They moved all of the resident's belongings out onto the curb and helped me move in. The locks were changed and we all waited for the resident. He showed up, got mad and started threatening until the four big guys walked out. My friend said something to him quietly and his face went white. I never saw him again after that. It's nice to have friends who know powerful people in low places!

it is unfortunate that they also deal in some nasty stuff, but you can bet nobody squats on the Don.
Nice.
Squatters? You mean criminals that need to be arrested.
This is why a realtor friend of mine always has someone waiting at houses as the old homeowners move out. That way no one has the ability to go squat before the new owners move in.
She did, however, have one case where the old homeowners refused to vacate and the new owners had to take them to court for eviction. Luckily that went pretty fast and there was no damage to the house.
I wonder if they squatted at the governor's house how long it would take the cops to get them out of there.
It would only take a new York second for that to happen. Voters are just a way for politicians to be elected then they forget their constituents.
The squatters would never mak it past the security/cops.
Im putting my money on just minutes
Oh the law would be changed in mere days if that happened. The problem is two fold:
1. The politicians are often too far removed from the situation to want to do anything about it>
2. The court system has a stack of cases a mile high, and each case has to be given its day in court (no matter how stupid it may be). And until then, the cops are powerless.
Notice that this shit doesn't happen in states with castle doctrine in place.

Better yet, do not think about blaming yourself for voting in those who dictate what a cop is allowed to do.
I've known folks who took up residence in actual abandoned buildings, but stealing a home from a legitimate owner is so asinine.
The reason they let this happen is so that hopefully the homeowner will not be able to afford to keep the home with no income coming in so they can’t pay mortgage and/or property tax, then the government can step in and take your property. Because a lot of people lose there home over this.
How can someone legally still your home but it's illegal to steal someone's car

If they have no right to be there to begin with, how the hell do they have rights to stay? That is beyond me
Maybe it goes back to some antiquated-but-not-yet-repealed law.
Not much different for illegals
Leftist commie lunatics
If you live in a blue State there is a strong possibility that you have less rights than somebody that breaks into your home
@@johnnygarcia6012 You are 100% right. I moved from Philadelphia down here to Dallas Texas to get away from living in a blue state
why aren't squatters charged with breaking and entry? This would curtail this broken part of the law
Exactly. This just boggles my mind. Really. Utterly.
What about theft? One could say that everyone that was in the house that belongs to the property owner was stolen.
I recently had to deal with squatters that got into one of our vacant rental units (Orlando area). Police did finally extract them at gunpoint, but the mess they left behind ( including spent syringes) was all mine to deal with.
In the U.K. there would have to be proof they broke in. Without witnesses, they will just say the door was already open and it would not be possible to prove otherwise.
@@gweilospur5877 Not true. In the UK it is illegal to squat in a residential property. The owner can simply call the police to have them evicted. Commercial property is different.
Burglary and breaking n entering is not a crime, WOW, the courts n system is over the top with this picture
Have yo heard anything, concerning Arizona? With changing squatters right ?
There should never be an eviction of squatters, they should be arrested immediately once they’re discovered. Like the owner stated the court system is broken, judges should be held accountable criminally and civilly for playing this game with squatters, there is always damages and cleanup involved at the owner’s expense, along with a loss of income.
Support “JAIL4JUDGES” campaign. 👊🤨
No. They should be treated as a home invasion criminal by the stand ur ground real owners
Honestly you can't blame the judge. He can only interpret the law as it currently exists. And apparently that state allowed some group of lunatics to write such outrageous bullshit into state law. In light of that the judicial branch can only interpret the law, and law enforcement only enforce the law, as it's written. Don't blame the judge or the police. Change the insane law.
In Louisiana we would call such squatters "burglars" and they would be treated as such. If I showed up at a property I own and saw people inside, I don't give a rat's ass who they are or what their excuses are, I'm arming myself with a double-barrel shotgun and holding them face down on the floor until the police get there to haul them off. Then all their stuff goes to a landfill. Or a bonfire. I'm good either way.
@@josephledux8598 and that’s where I think lies the problem, in the interpretation itself.
😉👍
@@markstreet7431 I agree…., unfortunately not all states have a “Stand your ground” law in place. 😉👍
Thank God mine does. 😬👍
Nothing like walking into your home with your pistol with some squatters in the cross hairs
Here's how it works: If you break into a bank and steal money, you are a thief. HOWEVER, if you break into a bank with a lawn chair, a microwave and a mattress, you are free to take whatever you want and can stay there for 8 weeks. At the end of those 8 weeks, you'll be given a stern talking to and as much time as you need to collect everything that you feel you need to take with you. No judgement.
possession is 9/10 of the law
I would personally have my paper work and everything I need to prove that is my place in the car and call in some friends and break into my own home and force the pathetic squatters out while doing so having someone change my locks if police come show them my paper work and inform I was defending my property from those trespassing on private property
If the police are presented with 2 sets of paperwork one a good forgery and the other yours, you and your friends go to jail. They will just arrest the people not in possession of the property if there is violence. The idea is that if some one does this to you while you are in possession of the home you are protected. They are just exploiting a system designed to protect property owners, only here it serves the opposite purpose. Con artists are not dumb, they know how to manipulate the system. Your best bet is media coverage if you can get it. Con artist are generally not fond of publicity.
@@whitelabrat nope just kill the sqauters and say they broke in and would not leave
I would pour gas on them on say get out of my house or I'll burn it with u on it
Hi, just found this channel, did they pass that law you were talking about????
What happened to breaking and entering??
Shouldn’t need a new bill. trespassing is trespassing. should be able to do the same thing a business can do. You leave or get arrested.
WTF!! It’s breaking and entering. REMOVE THEM AT ONCE!!!
Yeah, I don't understand how it can be anything else
From where I sit, it's Breaking and entering, burglary, forgery, tresspassing and vandalism (they changed the locks).
True, it is breaking and entering. You can indeed evict them. However, if you wait a super long time to evict them (like two years), they can gain legal possession through "adverse possession." These laws exist in all 50 states, they are designed to promote the productive use of land. The theory is that if you're too lazy to check up on your own property for two years, you deserve to lose it to someone who cares more about it than you do.
As frustrating as it is when eviction of squatters takes so long, those due process rights also protect the innocent. Dishonest landlords can't get away with calling the police and claiming that tenants with a lease are squatters.
They should really come up with a law protecting people against these kind of crimes.
This is crazy.
So so sad..
Such laws prove how corrupt some lawyers are, and how stupid politicians can be.
has nothing to do with lawyers you imbecile
I'm shocked that the laws on squatters hasn't changed over the years. For people to have to treat squatters as if they're tenants is beyond ridiculous. Then when they finally get them out, the squatters can just walk away in spite of leaving a mess and damage behind. Something is very wrong with these laws.
Anyone going in to my house and tears up steals ,sells anything belonging to me ...I would not be nice ...I would basically steals it back.. and if I was nice enough to allow them to leave.....I would make sure ti get photos, fingerprints DNA ect and I would post it everystate in thus country and renew info every six months for as long as I live...But these people need to serve hail time... basically they would have a home...compliments of taxpayers...
This is insane. What about homeowners' rights? Good grief, only in America
I'd like to see some judges get their homes squatted on. Lets see how fast the laws change.
@@TT-rz5td they have discretion.
Breaking and entering- I think the owner has the right to shoot them
@7charlierox not really. If someone trespasses my property, I will not file them as squatters. I will file them as thieves breaking and entering my home and start shooting
You do realize that they were living there for years and paying all the utilities and property taxes? In my state to have squatters’ rights you must live in the house for at least 15 years while taking care of the property. That’s why you must evict them. It’s not like someone broke into your home while you were shopping and now you have to evict them. It’s when you abandoned the property then someone moves in without letting you know. The problem lies with the owner letting them live there for years and letting them pay for the property taxes, that’s why they have rights. Basically it’s living in a house rent free. It can easily be avoided if the proterty owner doesn’t abandon it for years.
Creole lady, exactly what my daughter and I said. I'd pay a weeks rent then go shoot the trespassers! Ha!
Chris Ice you realize they were they’re for 8 weeks not years right? I mean they clearly said it on the video.
@@TheKingOfTrolling If the owner cut the utilities off, it's because they didn't want to pay fees on an empty house which is their right. They may have wanted to rent it out later, their choice. And you don't know if the trespassers were paying the annual taxes and school taxes or not. The tax notices would have been delivered to that address but in the OWNERS name. And it sure didn't look like they were living there for years, as all they had to sleep on was mattresses. Just because someone is not living on a property they own doesn't mean they have "abandoned" it - they may have plans for it. It's not your option to say, one way or other. It's theirs.
Wow… this is so wrong.
"The court system is broken, it favors the criminal." So true, it doesn't matter if they're squatters or corrupt landlords, civil law *always* favors the criminal.
Pregúntenle al fiscal de los ángeles
Well Officer, when i walked in i saw a stranger with something in their hand, so i shot them. Turns out it was just the remote but better safe than sorry.
Lmao🤣🤣😂😂
Also I feared for my life lol 😂
You sound like the deadbeat black guy in this vid
That’s not how that works in these situations. This happens to thousands of ppl across the country all the time. There’s a reason none of them are doing those things. It’s lot because they are scared of them; it’s because legally they can’t do anything or they get in trouble. There’s squatters all the time suing the homeowners and winning.
Why no criminal charges? Contact your state representatives and ask them to change the laws in your state.
