Chapati contains gluten which sometimes can trigger severe autoimmune response called celiac disease which can damage small intestine. And also sometimes chapatis are hard to digest due to wheat content which might cause stomach ache. So is it good for diet and preferable over rice ? Pls explain 🤔.
Have been practicing intermittent fasting for 12 hrs dedicatedly for past 5 weeks and have definitely lost 2 kg...thanks Dr. Pal for this. I have also recommended your videos to several people. I generally eat less during dinner time so it was easier for me to practise this 12hrs fasting without any issues that you had mentioned in your videos. Maybe those facing difficulties to fast for 12hrs could switch to eating less during dinner for few weeks and then try the 12 hrs fasting. Really feeling blessed to have doctors like you who help to have a healthy society. kudos to your dedication Dr. Pal
Bro I am doing it for 1 month, Break on saturday with cheat meal, My fasting is of 14-16 hours lost 5 kgs. You are doing something wrong My meal is 2-3 12cm chapati no oil with ghee and 1 bowl rice with sabji for both dinner and lunch, I skip breakfast do dinner till 8pm max. No milk It is key thing and felt really low on 1st week. And on sunday after cheat meal
Thank you Dr.Pal for making such enlightening videos Your videos are helping me to improve my health literacy and motivating me to continue with my intermittent fasting. I have been consistently doing intermittent fasting for the last 2years and got my HbA1c to 4.9% , fatty liver disappeared 😊 You are doing amazing job sir I am a CDE and CDM nurse ,it would be nice if you made educational videos on autoimmune diseases aswell sir Sir , do you conduct any preventative health work shops in a primary health care setup?through zoom, Because I work in a GP clinic in Adelaide, Australia ,so I am wondering if we could organise one for all of my other colleagues aswell Thank you

@@DrPalIn Mangalore we eat boiled rice(not white rice) with curry for 3 times a day... Breakfast, lunch, dinner... Is it unhealthy practice? Please reply Dr.Pal. what changes can I make...?
Your body will go into survival mode.. which makes it easy to get fat when you normalise the food. Don't pressure the body too much with diet. Just balance it with 10%-20% less calories compared to the calories spent every day
I am doing the same. Take Cheat days on sunday so that I can eat out and I'm not devoid of fun. I've lost 7 kg in 2 month. 20h intermittent combined with playing badminton everyday.
And here i thaught that Chapti is full of fiber carbs which does not digested and hence no glucose is added to my body, I quitted rice ages ago now i will do the same for chapti too(but i will take raw Veggies and fruits)... Time for keto diet and hard workouts.

we in Maharashtra dont eat both rice or chapati...we eat jowar bhakri throughout the year bajra bhari in winter and nachni bhakri sporadically for variations...for protein we eat loads of lentils like moth moong chana chawli & lots of other varities of lentils but only during day time with bhakri...for dinner we take leafy vegetables with bhakri...these are all beautifully balanced & healthy diets...the only problem we create is we make our food way too spicy 🔥
I would recommend eating rice because chapati is very bad for our intestines. A research had been conducted which suggested that it would take months and even weeks for the chapati to get digested and come out. plus glutten gets binded to our intestines and cause diseases like IBS, chron's for those who have gluten intolerance. I had similar issues, I am very fond of chapati but whenever I used to eat it the next day I would feel constipated, lot of gassiness, bloating, nausea. But after shifting to rice, my symptoms disappeared.
Dr. Pal, I successfully completed 40 days of intermittent fasting. Outcome: I lost 2.5 kgs. However, my belly fat is still wrestling with me stubbornly. Query: What about if you have to take medicine regularly during this fasting time? Thanks for your support and guidance!
Same here. I'm following IF 16:8 from the past 1 month and lost 2 Kg's ( from 62 to 60) my height is 5.4. My aim is to reach 55 kgs. . My age is 40 and I look slim but my belly is 90 cm. I started IF to loose belly fat. But still I struggles. Dr. Pal pls advise....it will be very much helpful for people like us who struggles especially to reduce belly fat...
Doctor, please clear my doubt. Which one works better for weight loss for the post menopausal women? 12 hours eating window with 6 small meals vs 8 hrs eating window with 3 large meals? I watched many videos and read many articles but I couldn't get clarity.
Since you mentioned post menopause, she might be little aged. If she doesn't any ailments such as diabetes and she can do longer period of fasting, she can continue 8 hrs eating with 3 meals. If not 12 hrs eating window with 3 meals with 1 snacks. Bcoz often we eat insulin will spike up , so it will not be much effective for weight loss.. 3 hrs gap should be fine between the meals

Thank you for the info, Dr. Pal. I have a question regarding chapatis. How long do we need to rest the dough after kneading? Some say not more than 20min because that causes more gluten to form in the dough. Others say it's good to rest the dough for a couple of hours. I see that in villages and traditional homes the dough is allowed to rest for 1 - 1.5 hours. I'm very confused. Your opinion would be valuable. Thank you!

chapati is processed food from flour. Rice is in its natural form . Hence Chapati gets absorbed very quickly in the system and can increase sugar/insulin levels more than rice.
Doesn't change the fact that a grain of rice has more carbohydrate amount than a wheat grain. After processing, this amount may or may not change in wheat. But in our home, we eat chapati made of whole grain wheat flour without processing. So chapati is definitely much healthier.

Dr Pal is unnecessarily promoting rice, he actually eats a small quantity but others will just hear it as “rice is good” coming from him and will eat large quantities-especially diabetic, which is bad
I also agree with you after watching this video. In terms of diet and/or seeking for low carb food, chapati is always better than rice. But he discourages from eating chapati by giving example of his fictional friend who is non-stop eating chapati with curry. And then he promoted rice by adding words like 'vegies' and 'fibre' with it. Just exchange the roles of chapati and rice in the examples and you'll see an obvious difference. In conclusion, chapati >>>>> rice.
