  • Find out how to do an oil change on a big rig in this video. My motor is CAT C-13 Acert. It's really not that hard of a job. You just got to have the right tools. It's nice to have the piece of mind after doing your own work and if something goes wrong, you're the only one you can blame it on. 😆 🤣
    Tools needed:
    1. Drain pan
    2. Punch with sharp end
    3. Old ice chest
    4. Socket for drain plug
    5. Breakover
    6. Oil filter wrench
    7. Long funnel
    8. Kitty litter
    9. Ramps
    10. Wheel chocks
Heres some adjustable oil filter wrenches similar to mine: www.amazon.com/ATNHYING-Adjus...

Does the owners manual say too use additives?

It doesn't specify. It's definitely ok. Helps lubricate the motor with cold starts and helps with blowby. It's a noticeable difference. I go through about a gallon of oil every oil change. Thats 13000 miles. Most of it leaks out and it's a slow leak. Thats pretty good for an old motor. Without it, it's way worse. Lucas makes excellent products. The owners manual doesn't mention additives bc it's a liability. Somebody, somewhere would put in way too much, have their motor blow, then sue Freightliner. The manufacturer would also rather have you spend 40 grand on an in-frame then get more life out of your motor. There's plenty of videos showing how safe and legit lucas oil stabilizer is. I've done about 24 oil changes in 300000 miles on this truck and most of them were with a gallon of lucas. You can actually put in 20% of capacity, which is 2 gallons. I only do one. A lot of shops will ask if you want them to add Lucas too.
