Reference king pins. I always Jack front end off ground, to relieve pressure. Turn tires left, by hand, grease, turn tires right, grease. Then work tires back and forth. Big difference in longevity.
I had a tech that would always advise drivers to change their kingpins when they wouldn't accept grease. I knew he was wrong when I found out that you should be lifting that wheel when greasing that kingpin like you advised.
It's not excellent work he says they may not take grease sometimes 😂 that's his sitty fitting and hes pumping away with nothing going inside and he says it's fine lol
7:10 that's a great tip, simple but I never thought about that. I've had problems sliding the 5th wheel when loaded but easy to do when empty, this should help
I would recommend lowering your landing gears, once they touch the ground lower your tractor bags, and proceed to unlock to move the 5th wheel, all the loaded pressure should be off and lot easier to move.
Working in the industry as a tire tech. Would love to see more content! Btw paccar could you show us how to use the priming tool? 😅 had a bad time yesterday one Just would not work
Grease the fifth wheel , raise the trailer slightly above the fifth wheel and back tractor stopping before coupling . Lower trailer and complete couple .
That's actually the proper way to connect a recently greased fifth wheel to a trailer. I also, lower my air bags to the fifth wheel (when the fifth wheel has been recently greased) and slowly back under the trailer (without having the fifth wheel touch the trailer) before coupling to the trailer (then I raise my air bags until the fifth wheel touches the trailer and then I back the tractor until it connects to the trailer without having any of the grease slide up to the top of the fifth wheel).
My truck has leaf springs and drivshaft that is a completely sealed system, no grease fitting at all on the U-joints. Would you recommend having them installed?
The DP motorhome's slack adjusters seems to have some white color grease in it (later learned it may be some clay type grease). Before I realized the different grease, I applied 2 short-pumps of red high-temp grease I used for my entire chassis / drive-train. Can this small amount of a different grease cause a problem? Can I flush most of it out by pumping the right grease through the slack-adjuster?
In my opinion. You should grease no differently than you would do PMs it all depends on Applications! OTR will get the longest intervals. But me personally I treat my truck As severe duty so regardless of my application which is Regional/Local/OFF-Road I grease Weekly, i PM Every 10,000 miles or Less. I Run Oil samples every time. I run Fuel Additives & Oil Additives. I could Push it longer but my truck is 8 years old with 750,000k so I don’t wait until things are bad before I service them. Like the old timers say “be good to her and she’ll be good to you” God Bless
"I would recommend replacing your grease gun tip".... Or at least tighten it down if you can on that tip. Zerks aren't the problem if every single zerk isn't sealing with the gun tip.....
Thank you, because of this I watched a video on the tip that it can tighten or loosen. I don’t believe many people even know that. Wow I appreciate you leading me there
At 11:24 in the video, you were greasing the front steer area and it is clear that the truck needs new front brake pads. They do not look like they are wearing correctly.
You're not supposed to add grease to the jaws of the 5th wheel. Grease will get there, but you don't add any to it. You're supposed to use a mixture of half diesel fluid and half engine oil to the jaws. I always felt it was a waste of time unless you wanted to do is weekly or daily.
The more the better. You can break your monthly milage into an A and B service. Do these things on the A and these things on the B. Keep a book with all replacement parts numbers, volumes and types of fluids will make future maintenance easier
Forgot the leaf springs front and rear, also didn't take weight of king pins.... completely forgot the top of the King pin.... only greased the bottom incorrectly. Other than that....not to bad !
That's actually incorrect Adam you see you have to drop your air bags when you get under your trailer with fresh Grease on the fifth wheel after your under then raise the airbags that should raise the fifth wheel on the trailer without it sliding any Grease off
Mr Adam ,my engine Detroit 60s 12.7 I notice my coolant temperature is 200-204 when am idle or in traffic Is that normal , 180-185 cursing Plz I need your advice , thank you
Keep in mind you are inserting a liquid into an area that you cannot see through. So the only way you know of you put enough is if it comes out the other end. I have heard too many so called mechanics say just three trigger pulls per grease fitting. That's truly bad advice.
Great point! In most areas, seals keep dirt and water out. Over filling until the grease burst out would break the seal that is designed to keep grease in and dirt/water out. This is why the time application is recommended in some application .

You are absolutely wrong about pumping grease into it until it comes out. That is called over greasing. That is how you blow seals out. You guys put a lot of great content out but this one starts out wrong right in the beginning
The seals on your slack, tie rods, drag link, u-joints s-cams and every other place you put grease to it. You shouldn’t over grease cause then that causes grim and dirt to accumulate around those joints causing premature wear on those components.
@@PSALM-144-1 oh yeah! All those seals are already busted on mine im used to seeing them ooze a little. But thats right after i replace them dont want to balloon those again!

It's never done that way in shops with pits.
That sounds goofy any shop set up properly for a pm is going to have a pit
Yes they should already have a pit

Great instructional video of the back side of one's elbow.
looks to me that you need one of those locking grease ends for your gun. I love mine. Grease fittings actually take grease
Appreciate you bro 👍🏻
I was taught to add grease until new grease is seen coming out on kingpins, slack adjusters, and any where else where it isn't sealed like a s cam.
Excellent video! (Because of the insight to preventive maintenance)
Brother you are a Big Help!!
How often you have to do this ?
Dont you have to get the weight off the tires for the king pins and turn left to right

Does an Automatic Trans have grease fittings like a manual?
My truck has leaf springs and drivshaft that is a completely sealed system, no grease fitting at all on the U-joints. Would you recommend having them installed?
Not at all! Non greasable Ujoints are higher quality, not only in longevity but also in strength. Look un Spicer non greasable UJoints
Factory sealed items like leaf springs, u-joints, and gear boxes makes it easier as its less to fight with. I wouldn't mess with it till it breaks.
Jack the front axle and get the weight off the king pins.
Great advice. This tutorial was mainly for drivers with no bottle jacks. Thanks for sharing.
These videos are so informative
Good job

Red high temp grease.

Kemetnu King Trucking, I recommend following the sticker inside the door jam for the drive line setup. It is what the truck was manufactured with.

Plz I need your advice , thank you
Pretty normal, you can add a switch to turn on the fan manually so you can turn it on while you're at idle
It will run that hot because lack of air flow a manual fan switch will change that
Separate air to air cooler and a/c condenser from radiator . Blow out with compressed air .
Color of grease doesn’t mater, red, blue, white etc always read to find out what it’s for on grease tube,

Replace grease zerks . Hit spring roll with hammer . Air hammer with large flat punch may work best .Try letting weight off spring lift the frame .
