I’ve been using the Hori and I love it but do wish I had the NYXI. Didn’t want wait a month to receive them though when Mr. Bezos could send them overnight.
I know a little late, but I actually ordered one of these last week and received them in less than a week, which at this time of year in the states is quite impressive
I've got the Hori Split Pad pro and I can't go back to the default joycons. I can lay on my back and comfortably play hours of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and never drop a single Shoryuken. Best $50 I've ever spent. Haven't tried the other brand though, motion controls might come in handy for some games that need it. However I mostly play Street Fighter, Metroid Dread, HollowKnight, and retro games with the expansion pack.
Hori's are useless if you want to use them while the Switch is docked. The best controllers for people that want to hold them apart are definitely the stock joycons - this is the best option for accessibility. I tried the Nyxi since they can be used as two separate controllers and they are uncomfortable and unbalanced that way. If you have shoulder issues that require you to hold your hands apart, the only controller that works is the joycons. They are light, balanced and can be used apart from the Switch and work well for those of us dealing with hand and shoulder arthritis. I though the Nyxi would work too but when held one in each hand they feel heavy and unbalanced and I have not been able to use my Nyxi's for more than a few minutes before the hand pain starts from trying to hold on to the unbalanced heavy units. This is just a note for those concerned about accessibility.
I just bought the Hori, didn't realise you couldn't swap the A and B buttons! They'd be absolutely fantastic if you could, but that simple issue makes them pretty much unusable for me as I switch between Xbox and switch pretty frequently. Might have to find some money to put down on a NYXI now 😮💨
How's the Athena compare to the Hyperion? Seems like NYXI make the best wireless joycon alternatives and I want to pick the right one. Ideally whichever has the better dpad, but curious your thoughts.
I bought the Hori over the NYXI for the fact that if I'm playing in handled mode. I want the longest battery life, while not needing to think about charging the joycons. The exclusion of rumble, gyro, etc was a good decision for my needs. The only negative on the Horis for me is the comfort.. they're not awful but not as comfortable as the NYXI. I also tried the Hori compacts which would have been what i preferred aesthetically but they were too small for my hands. I play 90% in dock mode so really they just sit mostly sit there lol
Yea mine works fine. I've had it for 2/3 months now. I've probably put ~20hrs in handheld mode so i'm not sure how it'll act under heavy use. Seems like it'll hold up @@AnarickTheDevil
I got the Nyxi Hyperions and I can't recommend them, they disconnect for no apparent reason randomly. I tried their support email and I only got suggestions to clear the other connected joycons from the memory and clear the cache (he also suggested it might be power but I have the Switch plugged in). There's also no firmware for the Hyperions either so I can't do that. It's just frustrating to get defective equipment.
Thanks for going in depth on the d-pad. I've been rocking the split pad pro and it helped me understand what I don't like abou them. I understand why you like the Hori more, but for me, that rocker ball is key. I like labbing and practicing fighting games a lot, particularly older ones, and the Hori Split Pad's d-pad feels awful for that because diagonals require far too much intentionality to get stuff out as quickly as I like. When I'm trying to do something that involves double quarter circles, or rolloffs as you call them, in a retro fighting game, I do not want to be putting any more force on the d-pad than I have to. I'm already going to fuck up the execution enough without missing a diagonal because I wasn't scrunching my thumb hard enough. I'll probably check out the Nyxis or some of the other ones you've reviewed just to find a d-pad that feels better for me.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm getting my first Switch OLED (First switch ever) I keep looking for the best I can find, hoping this helped me choose.
The NYXI cons were ripped off from the Binbok cons, and those ripped off the Hori cons. The Hori cons aren't bad but they're my least favorite. The Binbok are my favorite of the three. The NYXI Wizard is now my favorite of everything.
I got an adapter that lets me seamlessly switch from my switch to my pc and my Hori spp are always connected to it when I want to play in portable. The official joy con's sit unused in a drawer. Also no issues with putting it in or taking it out of the dock that has the sock thing for protecting the screen ether so don't know what he's on about.
The Hori is the only one that feels like a controller to me. Look at where the right thumb stick is on your pro controller, then look at the Hori. Same place. Everything else has your thumb jammed up and pushed back. Hori for the win.
Im gonna get my NYXI controller soon but the distnace from stick to the dpad always had me worried and I'm a little scared that Ill run into thr same issue of it feeling crammed
Team Hori Split Pad here , NYXI are cool and all the bells and whistles and LED lights are cool but they are just shitty cheap feeling and after about 2 months of the Athena they went haywire on me and their customer service is awful at best ... NYXI are cool but man oh man the quality is a problem for me , I went back to the Hori Split Pad that I've had for 2 years and not one single problem
Ton of fake reviews with engrish on the store page and all the reviews from actual customers talk about how they break after a couple days. So ya good luck trying to get that Chinese company to even respond to you for you to even get a replacement or your money back in the warranty period. I'll be sticking with my spp witch has worked flawlessly since launch.

Ohhhh my God. I've been trying to pull the trigger on something like this for a while ! This is exactly the kind of video I was looking for
Love to hear that

We need more switch controllers love on the channel
Thanks gamer heaven, keep the good work 👍👍❤
I love how he generalizes switch users. Nice man. Way to talk down to your audience.

regarding the remapping: imo the must remap is l3 and r3 and those can do it no issue
I see you there Memento Mori Ace of Spades. Looks sick with the smoke.
Nyxi hyperion are my go to. I'm thinking of getting a second pair

hyperion has a better d pad

@@rahndail3863 they’re easier to use for example less effort to do diagonal movement which can be useful for fast paced stuff like smash

i see a commercial video and the split pro seem dockable on the original dock! why?
I always enjoy your videos. My biggest issue has been the small Joycons so I generally use a pro controller as I mostly play in docked mode.
I would love a video on the MOBAPAD M6 HD. Wondering if they would be worth the upgrade if you already own the Hori or NYXI

NYXI looks waay better. Hori just gives me cramps after extended play. Sadly NYXI doesn't ship to Norway :(

I don't have problems with the Joycon size, the buttons are the same in the 3DS.
Will any thumb cap fit on the nyxi controllers
12:18 this so funny. But yes, this is why I come for.
what is the game on 14:46?
How do these feel when used as a whole controller? Or do they not do that?
IIRC the hori split pad needs a special wired attachment for that. Nyxi don't because they are bluetooth capable.
dude your setup is distracting. So much to look it at. It's amazing.
I would like to see a Review for the mobapad huben m9 elite (the purple one) 🥺 . Loving your content!

Hori's aren't wireless? Well, that's reason enough for me not to get them.
The regular are just too small and pricey also drift !
To me it's not close... NYXI by a mile
Really ? I dont think its your grilfriends steam deck, girls dont game on that sh!t !
